I wonder where all these fiscal conservatives were for the past 8 years?
They didn't seem to have any complaints over for Dubya's trillion dollar deficit.

This should be an interesting week or two. He has the votes and, interestingly, the American people lack the support. You have to hand it to him for going out to sell it. Let's be clear: Obama can both sell and close the deal. It will be interesting to see how he does when he is in front of people who may not be polite about the parameters of this bill. Thew other thing I am starting to notice about this President is that he talks a good game on reaching across the aisle but he seems to be a lot more interested in singing to the choir. That stands to reason - it is a lot easier to talk to guys that already agree with you. Like amy said, "come on down to Texas" we might have a thing or two to ask the President about this Bill (since he is in a chatty mood and all).

All that blabla and sooo many millions of dollars to get The Puppet INTO the White House, and now he hardly sleeps there. (The raccoons? Strange, mocking voices from The Lincoln Bedroom?)
from Politico:
"The first family heads to Camp David for the first time on Saturday. The Obamas will stay overnight and return on Sunday.
On Monday and Tuesday, Obama is slated to travel to Indiana and Florida for town hall meetings on the economic stimulus package slowly making its way through Congress.
On Thursday, he flies to Springfield, Ill. For an Abraham Lincoln celebration. And then on Friday, the Obama family will return to Chicago for the first time since moving to DC shortly after the new year."

"The Republicans don't want to spend $1 billion for Census which has completed their hiring quota of over 3,000 jobs in only a few weeks in the state of Colorado after it was published everywhere."
Don't look now, but the "post-partisan" Puppet is trying to install REPUBLICAN Senator Gregg -- a crochety old thingt who once tried to do away with the Commerce Department -- as Commerce Secretary. The Department of Commerce controls ... the census.

It's amazing that the Republicans are acting this way which is not helping at all. Just like our previous president, Bush all he did was help the rich & businesses instead of the working class. The Republicans have no idea what it like out here in the real world with all the jobs disappearing by the thousands everyday, 650K just in 1 week. Experienced professionals willing to take below minimum wage jobs, getting help from welfare, unemployment and losing everything families, homes and especially any pride that they had before. The Republicans don't want to spend $1 billion for Census which has completed their hiring quota of over 3,000 jobs in only a few weeks in the state of Colorado after it was published everywhere. You can't say that this isn't going to help. The Replublicans want each state to take care of their own and that isn't even possible when almost each one is cutting necessary programs and running out of money to pay for welfare and unemployement, etc. We need to give our new president, Obama some credit and work with him on this.
I remember working for a company,HP back in the day when the pay cuts started at the top just so that everyone can keep their jobs. All companies are worry about anymore is that $ and being greedy just for themselves instead of taking care of the employees. How about our top officials, CEO's, etc. take a pay cut for at least one day to help others. Maybe all this fund raising during the elections can be done now to help out our nation to get out of this mess.
PAY IT FORWARD by starting at the top.

"obama is fit to campaign not to govern!"
Why are these geniuses saying NOTHING about those who are ALREADY poor -- including many elderly and disabled who aren't Kennedys?
The trouble with "stimulating" the system as it stands is -- as the bank bailouts demonstrate -- rotten to the core ... HUD, Social Security. (And "medical records" ... an invitation to identity thieves and, for those who still own ANYthing, real-estate hustlers.)
But nooo ... go top-down, with a lot of mind-numbing baloney from Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. That'll be SURE to work, THIS time.
Trouble is, the marginal millions are about to get pushed by NEW poor ... and to venture into more survival crimes in an effort NOT to be homeless, starving, and whatnot. (Why are we NOT hearing about the House bill on housing the displaced on military bases? Is THAT the best they can do for "green" public housing? ... oh yeah: Katrina ... it IS the best they can do: poison peanut butter and poison trailers -- for which somebody gets paid puhlenty -- for the poor, along with a hefty police-state push against young black men. It'll be neat.)

"Teevee says there WILL be another Kennedy visitation. Maybe he'll bring the Lincoln Bible, and sing a little song or something, all of them with laurel wreaths in their hair."
Apparently so. They are dragging him up from Florida for a vote.
They only have two Republican votes (how to you ask a man to be the last one to vote for pork), and apparently the package is now *larger* even though they cut out $140B.

I love how people are like there is no stimulative effect in this bill. How about:
-Highway and mass transit construction (construction workers, engineers, and manufacturers)
-Research money for science and engineering (scientists and engineers)
-Money for "green" jobs (factory workers and engineers)
-Money to digitize patient records (IT, doctors, health care workers, and software engineers)
-Educational money, both in K-12 and pell grants for college (teachers and professors)
-Tax cuts for businesses that create jobs
-Tax cuts for middle income people in the range of $500-1,000
I think some of the people posting here have been listening to too much Limbaugh. He did provide some laughs though when he made that Republican Congressman cry and run like a punk for criticizing him though.

obama is fit to campaign not to govern!
Sad situation, is this what we voted for a on-going campaigner?

"Since there is no actual copy of the bill ... "
Uh ... sure, why not? I can't believe Senator Feinstein is voting for an invisible bazillion-dollar something. In fact, I DON'T believe it, but that's what the "news" claims.
Sure seems like SOMEbody should make em read all eight hundred pages of it ... and maybe send around some security police to make sure everybody WATCHES 'em read it.
Teevee says there WILL be another Kennedy visitation. Maybe he'll bring the Lincoln Bible, and sing a little song or something, all of them with laurel wreaths in their hair.
