ABC News’ Yunji de Nies reports:

Before flying to Ft. Myers, Fla., for his second town hall meeting this week, President Obama stopped at the gate where onlookers gathered to see Air Force One depart.

The president shook hands and spoke with men and women in uniform who were gathered near the gate.

“I am so proud of you guys and grateful for you. You guys are doing very important stuff … So we are just very proud of you and we are proud of the families as well because it puts an enormous strain on you to see your loved ones away," Obama said. "We have made great progress in Iraq thanks to the work that you guys are doing and we are going to keep on making progress.”

President Obama then boarded Air Force One along with a few members of his staff and members of Congress, including Robert Wexler, Kendrick Meek, Suzanne Kosmas, Ron Klein, Alan Grayson, Kathy Castor, Corrine Brown, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Allen Boyd.
