With President Obama’s economic plan now made public, the commander in chief has moved to the next item on his agenda — the war in Iraq. The president announced Friday that U.S. combat operations in Iraq will end on Aug. 31, 2010.
"America’s men and women in uniform have fought block by block, province by province, year after year, to give the Iraqis this chance to choose a better future. Now, we must ask the Iraqi people to seize it," he said.
The president delivered his announcement to a crowd of U.S. marines at Camp Lejenue in North Carolina. ABC News’ senior foreign affairs correspondent Martha Raddatz joined Sam Donaldson and David Chalian on Friday’s edition of Politics Live to discuss the president’s strategy.
