I am definitely a Ron Paul supporter all the way… so much so that I supported Chuck Baldwin in 2008 after Paul dropped out of the primary.
Ron Paul does not even accept a Congression Pension program (i.e. retirement for politicians) because it is paid for by the American taxpayers. He is not what I would consider a politician rather a Statesman who has been married to his only wife for over 50 years.
He has been nicknamed the American Taxpayers’ best friend and is 100% honest.

George – Yep, the pension program thing is huge, and Paul gives a portion of his salary back to the treasury every year. He also put a bill forward to stop congressional raises again. Of course you probably know that, but the rest of America doesn’t, and that of course is part of the problem.

The GOP had a candidate who could have won in the last election. Huckabee is not a conservative; Rudy barely is. I would be more kindly disposed towards Ron Paul if he were not so stridently an advocate of “vacation-from-history, head-in-the-sand” foreign policy. But–who knows?–the public revulsion against the Democratic debacle may be so strong by 2012 that the nation might just be ready for a genuine (small l)libertarian. And I might be too.

CommonSense, I agree. Healthcare has to be dealt with and I think govt. most certainly does have a role. First clean up all the fraud, then establish a public health system with no frills, no luxury, no taxpayer malpractice liability. Then reform Medicare and prescription coverage. Medicaid would be a thing of the past only public health like the VA. Incentive to not be on the dole and buy private insurance.

Obama may Only be in office a couple of months, but he has done more long term damage than any 12 presidents put together..I am guessing that most people who post all these bashing comments are most likely not tax payers..donot own a business..have no retirement fund or even a savings bond. First clean up all the fraud, then establish a public health system with no frills, no luxury, no taxpayer malpractice liability. Then reform Medicare and prescription coverage. Look how many republicans backed their guy Bush in voting for the first $850B fall 2008. Obama is continuing the war in Afghanistan/Iraq that was begun under Bush with the blessing of the Dem/Reps in Congress. Our best and brightest young soldiers, sailors, marine, airman are fighting and getting hurt is still yet another undeclared war.
The reason the US is fast heading for a meltdown on a scale of the story line of the “Road Warrior” is that the American government departed or, at best, lost touch with the Constitution and its checks and balances long, long ago. The country reached the slippery slope stage with FDR and is now sliding downhill. Resistance to all this is gaining momentum in the US as outright violence and protests break around the world. The Dems/Reps don’t know or care what they’re doing and it’s tumbling down now. The Supreme Court which is supposed to be checking the Constitutionality of all this, doesn’t because that would either violate “settled law” or place constraints on what the other two branches have been trying to accomplish all these years.
Look at the “choices” the Americans had in 2008. They were all from the “system” (Congressmen/Senators/governor) that caused all this. Obama got in, but it would have been no different if Giuliani, Romney, McCain, Richardson, Dodd, Edwards, or Clinton had been elected. Their names surfaced in the primary-media process because they were…acceptable. No matter who got elected, the American people would have been screwed and forced to be herded like sheep toward a “1984″ future.

At CPAC, these conservatives talked about the Republican Party as if they were not Republicans at all but something else entirely, and it was those dastardly Republicans that caused their (Conservatives) Fall from Grace.
What does it say about today’s conservatives that the speeches they found most invigorating at CPAC were those by Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh, a pair of political entertainers who make very lucrative livings by demagoguery?
What does it say about today’s conservative Republicans is that out of THIRTEEN Presidential candidates in 2008 (an unGodly number), not one was acceptable to them? That alone indicates how politically and intellectually bankrupt the movement has become.
And you’d think they’d been out of power for decades, rather than the last couple of months when Obama took office and Democrats obtained a WORKABLE majority in Congress, unlike 2006-2008 where Republicans still had the final say on what legislation passed and what vetoes were upheld or overturned. When the Democrats turned the party over to its left wing in the 70s, it was 12 YEARS in the wilderness before they managed to elect a President.
When conservatives have been out of power for 12 years, THEN they can whine and moan about it. restaurants, hotels, water fountains, and literacy tests and Democrat sheriffs beating up black men and siccing dogs after them and taking baseball bats and fire hoses against blacks. In the South, the blacks and the Republicans were on the same side; against the Democrats. Then, in the 1950’s Eisenhower (Republican president) integrated the schools in Little Rock by sending in the Federal Troops. Then in the 1965’s the Republicans in Congress passed the Civil Rights Acts and Voting Rights Acts and that was the final end of segregation. The proof that Democrats were KKK still resides in the presence in Congress of Robert Byrd (Democrat, WV) who still retains his rank of Grand Kleagle of the KKK.
Republicans place the rights of the individual above all others. We do not believe in a “two level” system. We are PROUD of our civil rights efforts and we do not approve of how Democrats treat blacks. Therefore, Ron Paul’s racism is repugnant to us and we will NEVER accept him; simply put, he is a white supremist and we will NEVER truck with that kind of individual. I don’t know why you don’t “get it.” We don’t want him; the proof is that he polls very low. His supporters are devious to promote him, but dynamic politicians have a glow and don’t need to trick people. When I call registered Republicans in my county, they LAUGH and call him a crackpot and a nut! He has to keep recruiting new people because those that know what is going on, can’t stand him.

The Republicans can’t keep putting up the same “old way” candidates, we need change in the party. They need to have the courage to put up Paul who knows what it will really take to fix things, but my guess is they will never let that happen. The party would change with Paul and they would win too. Romney will not unite conservatives, the christian base won’t vote for him for one thing because he is a mormon. Paul/Palin would win.

That the Republicans will put up the same tired hack even after the defeat of 08 spells bad news for the opposition in this country. Romney presided over a the first state to “universalize” health care. Can one truly call themselves conservatives and support this man? It defies logic. Why are the remaining Republicans so eager to implode? FREEDOM and PROSPERITY go hand in hand. The Democrats will steal our prosperity (Universal Health Care, etc), and the Republicans will steal our freedom (Patriot Act etc). The only man who will fight for both is Ron Paul.

I’ve always said that Mitt was the man that the Republicans should have selected as their candidate. Why they chose McCain, I’ll never understand. And Palin was a fiasco, since the Dems had a black candidate, why not pull out a woman VP outta the hat. I would have voted for Romney in a heartbeat. He is for limited government
He is against nation building
He is for balanced budgets
He is pro life
He is for securing our borders and against amnesty (Kennedy McCain)

He believes the federal government should be out of education (NCLB)

Dr Paul does not belong in TODAYS republican party. Republicans support folks like George Bush, Arlen Specter, Lincoln Chaffee, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins,Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Chris Shays to name a few. This is the face of TODAYS republican party.

In Massachusetts, the “Universal” healthcare offered to citizens without other coverage consists of choices among the major health plans (BCBS, HPHC, Tufts, etc) offered in the state. Citizens can purchase plans that best suit them and their finances. Romney’s plan was a good idea, and still is. It was an alternative to Cobra, which is far to expensive for most people to maintain (until Barak’s plan of employer subsidy). But, once Deval Patrick was elected, 6 state agencies got their fingers into the system. Everybody has a piece. The issue in Massachusetts is the free healthcare, tuition and welfare offered to illegals, and don’t forget the encouragement young women constantly receive to have children that they shouldn’t have, and can’t afford, but it’s ok – the State will provide everything.

Listen to reason:
There is no such thing as “gay” marriage. The word “marriage”from its earliest roots refers to a man/woman connection. The reason why Christians like me have a “problem” with gays wanting to be “married” is that the relationship classification is Biblical reserved for a man and a woman. The scripture is clear and doesn’t need any interpretation.
If some other union is required between like-sexes then name it something else.
I wish the people that call conservatives “idiots” or “bigots” or “something worse” would be civil at least and nice at best.

I am not attacking the Mormon church, I am merely pointing out what LDS believes and how that is different than Christianity. I couldn’t care less about the collection plate. Giving is a personal issue between you and God.
