ABC News’ Rick Klein Reports: Some startling comments from Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky., over the weekend suggest quite strongly why Bunning is high atop Democrats’ target list for 2010. At a county Republican Party dinner on Saturday, the Hall of Fame baseball pitcher issued some medical predictions regarding Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this month and had a small tumor removed. According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, Bunning used a 30-minute speech to say he "supports conservative judges "and that’s going to be in place very shortly because Ruth Bader Ginsburg … has cancer." "Bad cancer. The kind that you don’t get better from," Bunning told a crowd of about 100. "Even though she was operated on, usually, nine months is the longest that anybody would live after [being diagnosed] with pancreatic cancer," he continued. Incidentally, the Supreme Court is back in session after a three-week break on Monday, and Justice Ginsburg is expected to attend the session, per ABC’s Ariane DeVogue.
