monroe, Why do you persist with weaving such things into your diatribes, “your Faulty Ideas” that you often state as facts, i.e., “That’s the Obama concept of the American Promise.” ???

Amy; 1) We’ll never have an efficient, quality, affordable healthcare system as long as insurors (for profit organizations) are part of the formula. Costs are the problem. 2) I’m a pacifist. No radical groups for me. But I will fight unto death if necessary to preserve the American Dream for future generations. 3)God created all men equal (in his sight). All souls have equal value to God. The constitution was written on the premise that all men are created equal, all entitled to a fair and speedy trial with legal representation, and to be judged by a jury of their peers, and innocent until proven guilty min a court of law. Enter those lawyers I despise so much. Keep them away from healthcare, too. Freedom and opportunity can be made equal without taking away the initiative to succeed which is success itself. In the real world people are not equal in their ability to make a meaningful contribution to society. Those who aspire to lead rise to leadership positions in the make believe society of which Obama paints such a pretty picture. So once again there is disparity between those in power and those who are designated to follow. We’re not given the same tools to work with such as physical strength, good health, sound minds, etc. Therefore it’s only natural that some would attain greater levels of achievement than others on a level playing field (fair). Obama wants to slant the playing field to make everyone equal(cheating). That’s the Obama concept of the American Promise. It’s not right to take away from the productive, intelligent, energetic achievers and give to the non-productive underachievers no matter how pitifully they may plea their case. I say we should each go out and earn our station in life and count our blessings rather than worrying about what the other guy has. It’s O.K. for the government to take what it needs to run the government. I’m not saying charity is a bad thing because it’s not. I just don’t think the U.S. Government was ever intended, by those who attempted to create a perfect government, to be an organization that provides charity to its citizens. If the government sticks to its role and the people stick to their roles everything works out to the favor of both the people and the government. It’s when the government oversteps its bounds that finances get out of kilter and civil unrest arises.

Amy, I agree about all of it.
Some things, just don’t change, like stupidity. It only takes a very small number to cause damage. They are the ones that scream the loudest about terrorism. Some of these people that spout such hatred scare me more than Al Quaida. These are real people, and they already live here. If something stupid is done, the terrorist already did their job, without even leaving home.

Yes, I am worried. I saw on another site that hate group membership has jumped since 2000.
I understand the Obama budget is huge, and people are concerned we can’t afford universal healthcare, but I’m also concerned the media is whipping up controversy for the sake of their advertising dollars, and Republicans are whipping up fears of “socialism” to score future votes, and people in general are missing the facts, not to mention the fact that Obama is being honest about how much the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will cost, something BUsh left out of the budget.
