The Right Plouffe

Viking Publishing announced that David Plouffe, the campaign manager for President Obama, inked a seven-figure deal for his pending book "The Audacity to Win: The Inside Story and Lessons of Barack Obama’s Historic Victory."  Two publishing executives told AP’s Hillel Italie that bidding reached at least $1.5 million to $2 million.

"For those of us who had been Obama supporters and received dozens, if not hundreds of e-mails throughout the campaign from David Plouffe, you came away with the feeling that you knew this guy and wanted to know more," Viking President Clara Ferraro told the AP. "His e-mails were very motivating and sincere. I would read one of them and think, `This campaign is so smart."’

Talking about Plouffe and 6 figures, does our Greatest Smartest Leader’s CEO cap apply to VEO (vice executive officer)?
Let CEO be VEO and get paid $50mil.

I was and still impressed by David Plouffe. The man did the brilliant job.

David Plouffe may well be a brilliant political strategist, but the shelf life of his proposed campaign memoir will be very short indeed, as it is with most other literary endeavors of that nature. You’d have to search for a mighty long time to find any books by James Carville and Mary Matalin still in bookstores, even in the remainder racks.
Six figures up front is far too high for such a trendy manuscript, which will be rendered obsolete in less than one election cycle. I don’t blame Plouffe for taking the money when it’s offered; the fault here rests with those publishers who continue to invest enormous capital in books that have little or no sustained value after a few months or years.

Very good point.

Speaking of smart, you do realize executive pay is not limited to the CEO right?

Nothing warms the heart like selling Americas culture to the highest bidder. God Bless Ebay.

I’m sure Plouffe’s book will stay on the shelves longer than the books of Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber. It’ll also require significantly more reading and political comprehension beyond the second and third grades.

“political comprehension beyond the second and third grades.”
Ah yes, the tried old tactic of degrading people who disagree with you as stupid. No hint of arrogance there.
Why is demeaning slurs so fashionable now days?

It’s: Why ARE demeaning slurs so fashionable now days? I know this can be a hard place to hang out in cyber space for the more sensitive souls like yourself. KR, try soothing your sensibilities with a cup of chamomile and lavender tea.

” I know this can be a hard place to hang out in cyber space for the more sensitive souls like yourself.”
I really don’t consider myself in either party fully, though I lean to the right mainly because of my military experience, and do get a chuckle out of both sides of the isle. But I will point out things I see as puzzling. For the left to claim themselves champions of tolerance and understanding, there seems to be restrictions and parameters that must be met before deserving of tolerance, and agreeing with the left seems to be the first restriction to pass.
So when someone disagrees, they are stupid, third grade educated backwoods rednecks that society shouldn’t pay attention to. That is hypocritical of preaching tolerance, understanding, and open mindedness.
