Tonight Is Date Night for the Obamas
ABC News’ Sunlen Miller Reports:
A White House aide confirms that President Obama will take the First Lady out for a date tonight to the Kennedy Center, as first reported by The Washington Post’s Anne Kornblut.
The first couple, along with friends, will see an Alvin Ailey Dance Theater performance and will sit in the presidential booth.
It will be Mr. Obama’s first visit to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as president.
The Obamas have been out on the town in Washington a few times since becoming new residents – they dined at Equinox restaurant their first week in town.
Mr. Obama has said in the past that date nights are an important part of their relationship.

Nice to know that while the congress is mired in a fight over a worthless piece of expensive legislation and America waits to see what our new President does to help resolve the nations problems, he has his priorities straight… Dinner date….

yeah Obama our Nation is in a meltdown and you are going out on a date….change we can believe in

wow Jake the early comments on this piece… here is the bitter…
and as far as the legislation …
as all these morons scream about the spending…how do you think they would have screamed when the New deal was structured to spend a fortune for the first time on …the Arts.
How would these morons (that were screaming the same thing for the last 8 years getting us here) how would they have reacted if Obama said I am going to spend money on the arts…like Roosevelt did?
you know that didn’t “build” anything.
then inform those morons…that because of that investment…do you know what America’s second largest and financial gain is from exports.
the arts.
why are we in this hole that we are in…because one party overwhelmingly plays games.

people go look at what came of the investments of the new deal and what those investments were…I am sick of people posting things that they have no idea about….
Roosevelt took heat from the same type of morons for investing in the arts…yes…NOw our second biggest export…with the national financial windfall that comes from that investment
morons need to read…including the ones who have “senator” or Congressman or woman ” in front of their names.
the best stimulus in a horrible situation … is not the same old stupid ideology that sits on your riches…it’s the one that is smart enough to get us out of this whole…aaaargh…idiots are still trying to kill this country even after we elect a smart guy…oy.

Obama was a worse President almost in three weeks now. His approval poll rating has dropped down below 60%. His job as the President is ‘weakness’. Former Pres. George W. Bush did a wonderful job for the last 8 years.

It’s pretty sorry for people to blame Pres. Obama and First Lady Obama for going out on a “date”. It’s not like he’s jumping on a jet and flying to a ranch for the “date”. Give them a break. He told everyone that this mess would not go away overnight. It took years for the other Pres to get us in this mess.Guess that’s what America is all about. Give the man one day and if all the problems aren’t solved say he’s the worst in 100 yrs. Enjoy your date Pres. and Mrs. Obama.

What’s wrong with a “date night”. This man is under alot of pressure and just getting “away from it all” should help to relieve some of the pressure. I believe the only way to clean this mess up is to change the way things have been done. The way that the banks and lending agencies were just handed money with no oversite on the way it was spent was a big mistake – as we have found out. Now they want more!!!! The monies that they receive now is going to be accounted and our President is going to make sure they don’t abuse the way they spend it. I know he is asking for alot of money and the programs he is putting the money into is different than any President has done in the past – but he has promised from day one that he is going to change the way our government is run – and that is what he is trying to do. Of course he is being met with alot of negativity because some individuals don’t like change. I say WAY TO GO MR. PRESIDENT. I wish I could help you.

dl..we shall see how smart he is in a couple of years…btw Roosevelt’s New Deal did not left us up from the Depression, sadly it was WWII that receives the credit..If your looking toward the Nancy and Harry stimulus’ bill to cure our economic woes, keep looking..Ask any Californian what they think about our California Democrats who carry the majority rule in Sacramento, Nancy Pelosi began her political career in California, better yet just look at our current economic situtation…spending out-of-control in Sacramento certainly didn’t help it hurt and made the situation worse…What makes you think it will do different on a Federal level?
If I didn’t need my state tax refund IOU, I’d have it framed and sell it on ebay; however, I would probably get more if I did…………..

if you are trying to say the money that Roosevelt pumped into the arts did not help us to dominate the export of content from that industry…
well you are wrong
and luckily people like you that had your misbegotten beliefs (the same beleifs that have lead us here sitting on our wealth in “what’s mine is mine and I should get more ” is the most important argument)
did not get to pull that funding that built a behemoth of an industry that not only helped build our nation in the last decade (because taxing those films …adn cigarettes and alcohol that people were consuming in association with those films…back then helped pay off that new deal) and raised our standing in the world as something to look up to…
thank god …the new deal was not just about the immediate it built this country to what it is.
so as you all try to argue the same arguments we have heard for decades now as we lost ground…
try to realize that argument is …well a bad one. and at some point the people who are smart enough to see the causes and effects of both the new deal and the last 30 years…and where both put our country and our world are going to start tog et angry at the people who are so stupid they can’t see history.

You MUST have either your biased blinders on or are just that ignorant. Bush is the one who got us in this mess…frankly I believe you have those biased blinders on. Funny how prejudice can color a person’s rationale…really sad.

I would give her one mistake, thats fine.
But this is the second time she made the mistake after Chris Wallace corrected her.
It appears that she is numerically illiterate.
No wonder she doesnt think the pork project is a big deal- all the numbers over 1 Million look the same to her.
Why the Democrats picked someone who didnt understand numbers to put together their bill is beyond belief.

There is nothing wrong with the obabas having a date night, but keep your mouth shut about it. Who cares???
This is the most “in your face” person I have ever seen. I am sick of turning on the tv and there he is spouting his bs. The guy is only a photo op that doesn’t understand the danger of dropping the charges on the USS Cole bombers. So, go on a date…and have a meeting at some swank place to discuss the monembilus plan..sounds like the guys from the banks on their junkets…hummmmm, maybe a double standard applies to obaba.

Obama didn’t create this mess, he’s attempting to get us out of this mess. George Bush and Cheney was the engineers of this train wreck, along with the caboose that is all of a sudden trying to protect our money. George Bush is documented as the worst Presdient in history. Good for you, Mr. Presidnt and First Lady. Some of you idiots are haters. Get your facts before attempting to comment on something. America doesn’t grab people off the streets and torture them, even tho some of you should be for being ignorant. This man is being jail illegal…and furthermore, he’s not going free. He will be tried for these crimes the Legal way. Believe that.

“In just 3 short weeks 0bama has become the worse president in history.”
President Barack Obama had to face tough questioning from the media this week over his process for choosing his top advisers after Tom Daschle and Nancy Killefer withdrew their nominations for failing to pay back taxes. But Americans’ support for Obama is hardly shaken, with fewer than one in five saying they are less confident now in Obama’s ethical standards and his ability to manage the government than they were before he took office. A majority say they are “more confident” in both regards.
Most of those who say they now have less confidence in Obama are Republican identifiers. Thus, a great number of those who claim to be affected in a negative way probably did not have a great deal of confidence in Obama to begin with.
Posted by: Ryan C | February 6, 2009, 4:28 pm 4:28 pm
Some of you people who claim to be Republicans probably hasn’t voted ever. You just want something to be angry about. Your misery life would make me angry too. Scare tactics, please, you wouldn’t know what the “real world” is facing. You’ve had your head in the sand all your life.

Funny some of you didn’t bash Bush’s fiasco as President. He and his merry band of criminals helped get us into this mess.
Obama is not going to undo in three weeks what it took years to destroy. Get a grip and a life.

More of the Obama-style “let them eat cake” philosophy. I have to think twice about even going to a movie with my family, and then opt to stay in and watch something on TV. But let Barry and Michelle go out and enjoy their presidential box during a time of national crisis.
His poll numbers may be in the 60s this week, but give him a chance. He’ll be Jimmy Carter style in no time.

Posted by: Interested08 | February 6, 2009, 5:46 pm 5:46 pm
Cry me a river Ryan C.
He needs to face tougher questions regaurding his corrupt cabinet. Do you remember his seven page, sixty three question application? The one that the media and his sheeple were swooning over back in November telling us how great and thorough it is. Well guess what, he failed.
Posted by: Tom | February 6, 2009, 6:24 pm 6:24 pm
What’s the bowling alley and movie theatre for? Of course I’m talking about the ones installed in his own home.
So he goes and parades around wasting even MORE money in a time like this. When the going gets tough, the president goes out.

People are too smart to buy the Obama-hating retoric. It’s a new day and we are a smarter group. What have YOU done lately? This is rediculous to even critisize this. Everyone needs to get out and blow off steam. AND I’m GLAD he’s taking his wife out for date night. Lighten up!

That was a quote from Gallup regarding public confidence in Obama.
You do realize that his vetting process is how we know about all this stuff that has come out don’t you?

The Senate is busy wrangling over the details of the stimulus bill even now. Shouldn’t Obama be around to make sure the bill conforms to his wishes? Or is that not important for some reason?

Anyone who supported President Obama is not saying all these things about him already, calling him a sorry president. This is coming from the Obama Haters, be real. Common sense tell you that Bush didn’t get us in this mess overnight and we won’t get out of it overnight. So the people who supported President Obama knows this. It took Bush eight years to nearly destroy this country, so a couple of weeks Obama suppose to have everything solve. PLEASE!!! I have more confidence in the President than I do in the Congress and Senate, specially that Republican Our Gang, who never stood up to Bush over the eight years, now their only job seem to be to stand in President Obama’s way. There is going to come a point were if I can’t work with you then I will have to go through you. And Obama supporters if you read this, listen up, remember 2010! Find out every Republican Senator or Congressperson in your area who is up for re-election and we prepare ourselves to come to the polls in 2010,like we did in 2008.They are crying about this Stimulus bill, I guess it’s okay to spend billions when it’s your man spending them, like the unnecessary war in Iraq. As President Obama said, do you think he wanted to deal with something like this starting his presidency, NO, but this crisis was left for him, thanks to who? BUSH!!! As for the date night thing, he was a husband and a father before he became President, and after he is no longer President, he will be a husband and father. So he cares about them also and I see nothing wrong with it.He loves his family. So he suppose to give up his family for people like you, who only job it seems is to trash him and his family. I think not.Keep up the Date Night President Obama and First Lady Michelle. I think my spouse and I will start one too.

I’m not an Obama fan…yet, but in an era of declining family values and increasing divorces, daycare children and selfish people, I think it is refreshing to see the guy SET THE EXAMPLE of keeping the home fires burning.
They would probably rather keep “date night” private-more romantic that way-but maybe they see their roles as more than just the speech-givers and official policy-makers. Maybe they accept their roles as examples to the people, and if so I applaud them both.
This isn’t the first time, either. I see the garden on the White House lawn much the same say. Publicity stunt or not, it sets a good example.

It took the Dems and their community reinvestment act 30 years to artificially inflate the housing market till the bubble popped. It will only take 30 more days of spending insanity to destroy the country. Imagine if a CEO got on a private jet to go on a date with HIS wife, there would be Dem show trials for a month. Obama wastes the money of a country trillions in debt and the media goes all weak in the knees. It’s Obama nausea, make me sick.
