AIG Changes Its Name
And New Kids on the Block changed to NKOTB.
Plus, as we noted earlier, "toxic assets" today became "legacy loans."
Amidst all this re-branding, AIG has emerged as AIU Holdings.
Enjoy!

Maybe the name change will protect some families.
I’m hopeful.

Perhaps Obama, Geithner, Dodd, Pelosi, and Franks should assume a different identity.

Don’t forget – global warming became climate crisis became climate change.

I guess IOU holdings would be a little too straightforward.

“Toxic assets” to “legacy loans” is a gallant try.

Is it me or does every one working for the ONE, have a snarky faux cheeriness about them? I don’t believe a word she says but I do very much believe the other female phd/finacial person, (can’t recall name) she is one of the oversee people on the budget.but she is actually doing her job and reporting on it..does anyone know her name? she wears wire rim glasses and a chin legth bob. I think she’s a harvard bud of Obama. Real sharp person, I think.

And Jake Tapper is now JayTap — Robert Gibbs is the Gibber, as in win one for the Gibber, and Dr. Roemer is Chrissy R or Dr. R. Sen Gregg is the Juddmeister

In 2012, President Obama will be called “former President Obama” or “Jimmy Carter Part II”.
In 2010 the dollar will be known as “worthless”.
And soon Afghanistan will be referred to as “Obama’s War”.

mj, yes its hard to get used to the cheerfulness, after 8 years of listening to vampires who looked like vampires on leave from their caskets…rumsfeld and cheney were enough to scare anyone.brrrrr. still gives me chills

How stupid. You rebrand after the slop bucket has been emptied, not during the dumping. AIU, AIG, PIG, what does it matter? Everyone will still know who they are. You change it six months from now for full effect.

BS on the use of legacy. The administration is just trying to sell the people of our great country a different word for the same issue. Legacy exposures to business fall in to several different areas. Retirement plans promised, medical coverage promised for retire employees, coverage for workers family, exposure to bad products manufactured, etc. Not loans that may have been made within the last 2 years and have gone south. Stop playing word games. Go ask the auto industry about legacy exposures.

Now if ‘Obama’ could become ‘McCain’ I would be happy.

Napolitano solved the terrorist problem by changing the word terrorism to man-made disasters. She didn’t want someone in a cave building suicide vests to feel bad I guess.

Should be IOU instead.

You can call it, “LMNOP” for all I care. What’s important is whether or not it makes Obama nervously giggle.

We are sooo screwed. There goes our grand children’s trust fund. I think they just changed the name so they can throw another trillion dollars at it.

When you hear news of Goldman Sachs saying they do not apologize for their gifts received from Bush’s and Goldman Sach’s cronies in the bag Hank Paulson, just think of Cheney’s “So”. The arrogance of these people needs to be put in check and our money returned. AIG paid Goldman Sachs first, before taxpayers while Goldman Sachs received “approval” of a plan to turn itself into a bank to receive bailout bucks Paulson was planning. Goldman Sachs’ bailout money was in addition to what AIG had to pay them. Crooks to the core = Bush/Cheney/Goldman Sachs/Hank Paulson. Chris Cox is less culpable, but he was apparently a woos for the Bush’s.
If the company is in the news, it was because Goldman Sachs is being protected. The culprit is Goldman Sachs/Hank Paulson/G.W. Bush/Cheney. Don’t get distracted people!

Actually, Valujet became AirTran, not ATA. ATA was a different low cost carrier which went belly up last year. You also might remember the tobacco giant Philip Morris (now Altria). Now, to be fair, its not only companies who want a fresh moniker. Estee Lauder was born Josephine Esther Mentzer and Ralph Lauren was Ralph Lifshitz. Sometimes you just want to hit the reset button.

I just want to know why they keep bailing out this company. How many Senators and Congressmen own stock in AIG, oh! sorry AIU. How forgetful of me we all own stock in this new company.

I’m no financial genius…..and maybe I have it wrong………
Its smoke and mirror’s….its just a back door way of pumping more of OUR money into AIG….oops…AIU….
Well….there ya go…nifty trick…AIG is NOT getting any more bail-outs……
Does’nt matter….Obama’s M.O. is…Get it shoved thru….then when we figure out we’ve been had again…Oh Well….
He’s really not concerned about us eventually realizing we’ve been had….
He has a reelection plan that does’nt include those of us who know he’s dirty….
And I’m beginning to believe his aim is to weaken America financially and every other way….
Hope I’m wrong….
What I think he knows….as I do….
The vast majority does’nt know the scope of whats happening….To stay informed, takes a considerable investment in time….I probably spend two hours a day on the internet just to keep up….
I don’t have cable…just the network news….They devote about 3 minutes a day on political news…and do not ‘flesh’ it out…
Most Americans don’t even make it a point to watch the network news…if they catch it at all…its by accident……
So they’re not aware of the daily gaffs and stupid ‘stumbles’ we see…
But….they will get fired up at election time….AND VOTE!…and will be impressed by the support of the hollywood crowd…..
When he went on 60 minutes he was playing to the uninformed…taking every opportunity to flash the smile…and appear ‘cool’….He really does’nt care what ‘we’ think….
He is a PR campaign….A commercial….
We’re irelevant………

Common Sense, I dislike Bush and Cheney as much as you do, but you need to add these facts into your mix:
Goldman Sachs got 2.5 billion from the AIG bailout.
Obama got $980,945 from Goldman Sachs.

Legacy Loans is the perfect name, because we’ll be paying for this mistake for generations to come.
That’s the beauty of the Obama Team. They signal their true intentions at every turn if only people have their eyes open enough to see. Most don’t and they know that. Obama’s giggles on 60 Min were nothing compared to the uproarious guffaws this team directs at the gullible American public behind closed doors.

Terrific idea. All that future national debt should be called “Obama Legacy Debt”

Changing the name of the company may end up being more expensive than the bonuses.
