Biting Off More Than He Can Chew?

It was September 2008 when then-Sen. Barack Obama, making light of Sen. John McCain’s suspension of his campaign to deal with the economic crisis, said that, as his campaign put it, a president should be able to "walk and chew gum at the same time."

But with the now-president taking on issue after issue after issue, some critics and members of the media are wondering if this president thinks he can walk and chew gum and ride a bike and juggle and read a magazine and play with his daughters and take a nap at the same time.

Superproducer Max Culhane and I took a look at this last night on Nightline.

He needs to get the Treasury Department staffed and give us the plans he’s been promising for the toxic debt we have now all absorbed….things like stem cells can wait. He seems like ADD president at times…Focus on the Economy…it won’t be George Bush’s Economy for much longer the way the market is tanking everytime he give a big speech! The market is a forward looking indicator…it does not like what its sees so far!JSR

It is very Unpatriotic that every morning Morning Joe opens up with how Team Obama is so Confused and so muddled, when in fact he has been very clear about getting America back on track in the many avenues which have been neglected for all of these years. This assumption is false when in fact Team Obama has been clear that they are doing Stress Tests on the banks to figure out how to proceed. Why that cannot be allowed to take place by some in the media, well we know the answer to that, Politics. And, actually is Unpatriotic to the American people to continue to falsely accuse Team Obama for actions that are not real and to pretend things are so confused when they have never been so clear. Daily they come out with their plans for the American people, plans which have long been ignored. And, please media, stop saying Main Street is confused, we are not. They are instituting policies for us now. When GOP brings up the era of “easy money” is over, we could ask, easy money for whom and to whom? Not us, not Main Street…
As of yesterday, robocalls are going out to ask people to sign up to restructure thier mortgages (that is not confusion but action on behalf of the American people.) It is too bad that when Republicans had their chance they did nothing for the people but use the word No, No, No, so it is no wonder they think Team Obama are doing to many things at once, being the party of no action that they were.
Let this Team have their chance to bring in real change. The American people are not confused! Please stop being so falsely and deceptively unpatriotic, because we know as Rush stated so blatantly, they want Pres. Obama to fail, which means the American people also fail.

How nice of Obama to tell the WORLD that America is losing in Afghanistan.
How nice of Obama telling soldiers that that more of them will die and lose.
How nice of Obama to announce to the world his strategy on breaking up the Taliban. This did nothing but unite the Taliban.

50 Days That Changed the World
…It’s hard to imagine its been only 50 days that Barack Obama has been president.
** Obama has already spent more money than any person in the history of the planet.
** Obama and Pelosi’s stimulus bill was the largest spending bill in the history of the planet.
** Obama and democrats have already saddled America’s children and grand children with massive debt. Not that this bothers them.
** He’s lost at least 3 administration nominees due to tax fraud.
** He’s promoted a tax cheat to run the IRS and Treasury.
** He’s insulted America’s greatest ally, Great Britain.
** He’s reneged on missile agreements with allies Poland and the Czech Republic.
** His administration has already met with the murderous Assad Regime from Syria.
Rescue workers and soldiers stand around a huge crater after a bomb attack that tore through the motorcade of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in Beirut, Lebanon. Investigators have linked the Assad regime to the attack. (SMH)
** Obama signed legislation to close Gitmo.
** Obama freed a dirty bomber from Gitmo to Great Britain.
** Obama told US soldiers and marines in Afghanistan, “We’re losing.”
It’s a safe to say that Barack Obama could never have led America during WW II without its surrender. (Numbers from Iraq Casualties and GP)
** Obama’s VP told US soldiers and marines that US deaths will rise in Afghanistan.
** Obama has already discussed holding peace talks with the Taliban.
** The Obama stock market had its worst January in 113 years.
** The stock market had its worst February since 1933.
** The Dow has dropped faster under Obama than any other new president in 90 years.
** Obama’s budget more than doubles the national debt held by the public, and adds more to the debt than all previous presidents — from George Washington to George W. Bush — combined.
** Obama managed to spend more than the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan combined.
** Obama will quadruple the deficit this year.
** Obama passed legislation to fund foreign abortions.
** Obama passed legislation to fund embryonic stem cell research.
** Team Obama already banned offshore drilling.
** Obama scrapped oil and gas leases in Utah for energy development.
** Obama and democrats permanently banned drilling in ANWR.

I think the only criticim I have for Obama is that they need to just put out a plan for the banking crisis.
Just put it out. If people don’t like it than tough. It is at least a plan.

The stock market is proof positive he cannot do all these things well at once. Witness the mess he made of the prime minister’s visit — no protocol, horrible gifts, one mistake after another — to see that. (And he admitted he is overwhelmed and that’s why the visit was such a gaffe machine.
Let’s look back (though I certainly don’t want to) to the Bush administration. Did we hear, day after day, that key jobs weren’t filled? No, we did not. But don’t forget! This was the smoothest, best transition ever! Or was it?
Obama has lots of time, however, to make sure his minions pursue an idiotic hate campaign against that windbag Limbaugh.
I’d rather he pursue a campaign to rescue my kids’ college funds. I need the money that’s disappeared and I need it now.

Health care and Gitmo and stem cells are hardly big enough projects to distract from fixing the economy. If Obama had been more aid back in taking on challenges in the first 100 days he would have been trashed as “lazy” or “out of touch.”

He thinks he inherited this economy, but does any body remember that he was a sitting senator and that Bush asked him and McCain what they wanted to do
since one of them would be in charge.
He needs to be responsible for his voting from the past, and his leading into the future, blaming someone else for his failures have long past, because anything that has happened since Jan 20th is on his watch.

Even the San Francisco Examiner has an editorial today, questioning the competence of this whole “administration”. The SAN FRANCISCO newspaper, the most leftist city in the nation!
John McCain is almost as much of a big government liberal as 0bama, but at least you know he had legitimate experience, and competence.
OBAMA = FAILURE

The extra hours both Obama and Geithner are spending on dealing with the American economy is time well spent. They both know exactly what they are doing with the American taxpayers’ investments!
“I am most encouraged with the strength of our business so far in 2009,” Citi’s Pandit added. “In fact, we are profitable through the first two months of 2009 and are having our best quarter-to- date performance since the third quarter of 2007.”
AT&T is bringing 5,000 good-paying jobs back to America that were previously outsourced.
Bank of America has rescinded 50 offers to H1Bs and will now offer those jobs to qualified Americans. Jobs for Americans will certainly stem the tide of foreclosures, yes? I hope the other banks are paying attention.
I am delighted! Keep doing what you do, President Obama, Treasury Secretary Geithner and Mary Schapiro. Go get em!!

I appreciate you continued hysteria as President Obama get this country out of the ditch.
Continue your bickering over fringe issues as he deliver on the legislations and executive orders he promised during his campaign for Americans who voted for him.
He didn’t know the economy was going to take such a dive so changes had to be made and he is giving a determined effort to lift up this country.
God forbid you begin to make sense and gain credibility again. That would make his job much harder.
Kudos!!!!

I am wondering why Obama’s being “overwhelmed” is not being covered. An article in the UK Telegraph:
“Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been “overwhelmed” by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.”
“The American source said: “Obama is overwhelmed. There is a zero sum tension between his ability to attend to the economic issues and his ability to be a proactive sculptor of the national security agenda.”
And THIS:
“The real views of many in Obama administration were laid bare by a State Department official involved in planning the Brown visit, who reacted with fury when questioned by The Sunday Telegraph about why the event was so low-key.
The official dismissed any notion of the special relationship, saying: “There’s nothing special about Britain. You’re just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn’t expect special treatment.” The apparent lack of attention to detail by the Obama administration is indicative of what many believe to be Mr Obama’s determination to do too much too quickly.”
The poor baby Obama is finding out that the Presidency is like, a really serious job. Never having had a real job in his life, this must be quite a shock to Obama.

He didn’t? He spent all of the last few months badmouthing the economy.
If it’s as bad as you assert, why is Obama not focused on fixing it? Even Warren Buffett said that Obama’s wasting time on things that are not relevant to the repair of the economy.
Banks and real estate values.
That’s what needs to be fixed NOW.
Either things are nowhere near as bad as you guys are claiming or Obama is really trying to destroy this country.

Matt, Perhaps it is just that I am at a disadvantage, as I did not see Mr. Tapper’s Nightline piece. But I suspect that it is you, rather that Mr. Tapper, who came up with the list of “health care and Gitmo and stem cells.” You say these projects are hardly big enough to distract from healing the economy, but you are being disingenuous. That is not the basket of issues that most folks are concerned about being tackled while getting a handle on the economy. It’s more like health care, environment (cap-and-trade), education, etc. I have no complaints with President Obama working on a number of issues simultaneously and his policies on gitmo and stem cells, along with other COMPARATIVELY minor matters, is not what raises alarms for me.
But I am sure you realize that overhauling the American health care system is hardly on a par with changing federal guidelines for funding stem cell research. And that’s not the only big issue the president is intent on throwing into the mix right away. It is this insistence on tackling a number of major, complex, expensive issues simultaneously before getting a solid foundation under the plans to deal with the recession to which I object. Let’s see the plan to deal with toxic assets, let’s see the rest of the plan to deal with the mortgage crisis, let’s see the rest of the plan to deal with banks and financial institutions. Let’s reassure consumers and markets that we have those things under some degree of control before moving to the next big change.
Oh, and I would like to propose that the “you’re just like Rush (and/or Hannity and/or Drudge” remarks be retired, as it is in danger of becoming the new “Nazi” of the internet. The old observation was that sooner or later, someone in a political discussion on line is going to draw a comparison to Hitler and/or Nazis to characterize the views of whoever s/he disagrees with. Now, it seems, the inevitable comparison is to talk radio hosts on the right. It’s tedious and it’s intellectually lazy.

Then I could show you how Democrats engineered the whole thing. I could show you Barney Frank swearing there was nothing wrong at Fannie. I could show you how Democrats blocked every single effort at GSE reform. I could show you how Andrew Cuomo sued Accubanc for not making enough bad loans. I coudl show you how Clinton pushed Fannie into buying sub-prime mortgages in 1999.
What can you show me other than just having a hissyfit and claiming it’s Bush’s fault?

Obama’s last job was a senator.
He was in the US Senate the last two years.
I may have voted for Obama, but I am not going to make excuses for him. He knew then. He had access to more information than any of us. As I also remember it, we picked up the majority in Congress in ’06. So I am not going to give him a pass, he had control over spending.

So most Americans were probably thinking: Were they really that stupid, or were they just lying?

Its so obvious to me that this entire economic melt down was orchestrated by the democrats in an effort to further demonize Bush and ensure a presidential victory for themselves. The cost and affect to America and the American People was and still is of no concern to these liberal dems that will continue to sink American to its lowest depths in order to further their own agenda. Now that they are in control and God is being removed from the very foundation set forth by the founding fathers, America will become the 21st century Sodom & Gomorra and has no place to go but down.

NYDaily News:
President Obama’s new urban czar renovated his Bronx home with help from the architect on a major development that needed his approval, a Daily News investigation has found.
Adolfo Carrión, who last week left his job as Bronx borough president to be director of the White House Office on Urban Policy, hired the architect to design a renovation of his Victorian two-family on City Island.
Weeks after the architect’s work on Carrión’s house was complete, Carrión approved the architect’s project.
Carrión would not say how much he paid the architect, if anything. He also refused to provide copies of checks for the work.

Probably because yet another job was given to an H1B that didn’t understand Americans or the logic we Americans have that actually make things work on a consistent basis. Happens all the time on ABC.

Actually, Skip, Fannie and Freddie didn’t need any help. It was part 2 of the republican-imposed economic terrorism using scare tactics. Lehman *had* to fail and a takeover of Fannie and Freddie *had* to happen in order for republican Paulson to get the bailout w/o no strings attached.
AIG got the largest chunk of that bailout and paid Paulson’s former company, Goldman Sachs 100% on the dollar as a result. Taxpayers aren’t getting out “investment” into AIG back at 100% on the dollar. Go figure!
