London Calling

Geopolitics on the eve of the G-20 economic summit, live from London:

The luster disappears in record time, as the World realizes that The One is hopelessly inadequate:
“Someone tore up the script. Here’s how it was meant to go. Barack Obama was supposed to sweep into Europe on his first major trip abroad as the new JFK, greeted by adoring fans moistly waving little American flags. His progress would be part celebrity world tour, part celebration of the end of the Bush era. A needy Gordon Brown would bask in the Obama glow, hoping its rays would improve his own deathly pallor. Meanwhile, the rest of Europe’s leaders would fall to their knees, humbly agreeing to any request made by the visiting emperor, mindful that in a choice between them and Obama, their own electorates would choose Obama every time.
“That was the way it was supposed to be. Instead, Obama arrived last night on the eve of what organisers promise will be a raucous day of anti-globalisation protest on London’s streets, the demonstrators’ previous loathing of George Bush rapidly transferred to the commanders of the ailing world economy.”
And that’s from the left-wing Guardian. Wow.

First Revolution – Majority of Americans against Briton for Independence
Second Revolution- Majority of Americans against Liberal Democrats against Socialism

Does the president happen to know anyone who isn’t a tax cheat?
“Kathleen Sebelius, President Obama’s nominee to become Health and Human Services secretary, said in a letter obtained by the Associated Press that she made ‘unintentional errors’ on her taxes and has corrected her returns from three different years.”
Hey, all you Little People out there: how many people do you know who have made “unintentional errors” on their tax returns in three different years? And of that group, how many of them made all three errors in their own favor?
The Culture of Corruption, sweeping all before it in its path…

Obama will near the end of the Summit make a statement about how the USA is to BLAME for all the economical problems, he will then apologize to the world and promise to do his best to fix the mess. The “world” will love him again…..
Seems like an easy prediction when you look at what Hillary did in Mexico, and knowing the modus oparandi (sp) of most liberal democrats,

The Commander in Training is on an “overseas contingency operation”
I am actually glad because what he has been doing to this nation is a “man made disaster”, and we need a break.

G20 – Squabbling politicians and citizens with pitchforks coming together for the good of the world.
I love a good show. Don’t you?

Cheap shots from conservative leaders overseas should not be interpreted as waning popular support for Obama among most Euros.

shouldn’t that read LONDON LAUGHING @ OBAMA

Facist Hyena:”Hey, all you Little People out there: how many people do you know who have made “unintentional errors” on their tax returns in three different years? And of that group, how many of them made all three errors in their own favor?”
I don’t ask my friends about taxes, but I have made errors on my return before. And it is almost impossible to imagine how the error would be in your favor – the burden of proof is on you (receipts) and you start from a base tax and take deductions. When auditing a return, you don’t look for the deductions you forgot to take.
Rant all you want, but this farce is as much a condemnation of an overly complex tax code as it is Democrats who do their own taxes.

jhw: And it is almost impossible to imagine how the error would be in your favor – the burden of proof is on you (receipts) and you start from a base tax and take deductions. When auditing a return, you don’t look for the deductions you forgot to take.
============
error in your favor = taking extra deductions (camp, mortgage interest, business expenses)
or
not declaring income (speaking engagements)
or
not paying SE tax
so you pay less tax than you should
error in the government’s favor = not taking a deduction you could have, or declaring more income than you received,
so you pay more tax than you have to
So far, these errors fall into the “error in your favor” category

You forgot the “just plug a number in there, honey, they’ll never audit us anyway,” error.

Nice report, Tapper. You covered a lot of detail in a short time.

Nominees are only required to submit 3 years of returns to scrutiny. What would be found if more years were scrutinized?

Not just Americans are screaming for stronger Regulations. Now it’s the Whole World. Limbaugh might loose his private little war on America after all.

Posted by: traveler | April 1, 2009, 1:59 am 1:59 am

President Nicolas Sarkozy is correct that America needs considerable new regulatory authority to replace the deregulation that started during the Regan administration through Bush 2. Maybe it will help get something through Congress. It is past time to make the break between Washington and Wall Street.
Our deregulation was a direct cause of bank losses across the world. They were involved in the credit default swaps that should have been regulated, but too many people sold out to the investment banks and Enron.
Billions in taxpayer money went to major European banks through AIG. It seems the countries receiving the money could help.
We will never completely recover or at least some of us that are older will never recover.
The US needed to have the authority to sweep into the investment banks and AIG and do an orderly bankruptcy like FDIC does with regular banks. Instead the investment banks and AIG knew the government was not going to let them fail because of the destruction it would cause.
I would like to see Americans get involved in large protest against the banks like what is happening in London. The greedy bankers and traders are worse than bank robbers, but most will walk away will millions.

Obama’s luster has not disappears. Obama is on the cover of most newspapers across the world.
As a London reporter said, there may be differences of opinion, but they all want to get their picture taken with Obama.
Check out BBC “Obama meets Brown for G20 talks” for a video of pictures being taken.

Second Revolution- Majority of Americans against Liberal Democrats against Socialism
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Revolutionary! A revolution without any ideas! A party of NO revolution. Should be exciting. Kinda like a budget without a budget.

Posted by: Thinking | April 1, 2009, 6:15 am 6:15 am

The Second Revolution is demanding a stop to the wreakless deficit spending taking place in the liberal democrats who have the majority in the House and Senate.
End the outragous trillions of dollars being printed and spent by the Obama Administration White House.
Return to FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY and the principal of a Balanced Budget.
Tax CUTS and not the tax INCREASES

First goal of the Second Revolution…Put a GOP majority in the House of Representatives in 2010

Posted by: Neville | April 1, 2009, 6:54 am 6:54 am

The summit took place at London will surely bring some answers for the economical situation, strength as well as will be beneficial for the fundamental economic growth. The G-20 is a forum for cooperation and consultation on matters pertaining to the international financial system. It studies, reviews, and promotes discussion among key industrial and emerging market countries of policy issues pertaining to the promotion of international financial stability, and seeks to address issues that go beyond the responsibilities of any one organization.

What shame, Tapper picking up on rightwing paranoid talking point is no surprise. Once again, world RESERVE currency IS NOT SAME as world currency. One should not get their talking point from nutty Bachmann and Beck.

Hopefully – all of this geoposturing – will result in the usual outcome — total inaction.
