McCain: ‘Too Early’ to Tell If Obama Has Put Nation at Risk of Terror Attack

Today, I tried something new. I interviewed Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., via Twitter, the micro-blogging website. I received a lot of questions for the senator from the Twitter community — thanks for those. McCain and I discussed the AIG bailout and bonuses; whether he agrees with former Vice President Dick Cheney that President Obama has put nation at risk of a new terror attack; which nation worries him more: Iran or Pakistan; and his reaction to his daughter’s recent feud with radio talk show host Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter.  McCain said it is "too early" to tell if President Obama has put the nation at risk of a terror attack, refusing to agree or reject Cheney’s recent comments. McCain also said he is working on alternatives to Obama’s budget plan, and pointed to Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., as someone with "great ideas." On his daughter, Meghan’s, recent feud with Ingraham and Coulter, McCain said he’s proud of his daughter and "she has a right to her opinions." Below is a transcript of my "twitterview" today with Sen. McCain.  It was an interesting experiment! –George Stephanopoulos SenJohnMcCain hi george im a little slow SenJohnMcCainHappy St. Patricks day GStephanopoulos@SenJohnMcCain Happy St Patrick’s Day! First things first: How do u tweet — dictate or type? Blackberry or pc? SenJohnMcCain@GStephanopoulos Happy St. Patrick’s day – slow, sometimes pc somtimes bb GStephanopoulos@SenJohnMcCain AIG: Would a President McCain break bonus contracts? Obama teams says that would cause more harm than good SenJohnMcCain@GStephanopoulos i would have never bailed out AIG, the real scandal is billions to foreign banks. GStephanopoulos@SenJohnMcCain ok, but today: should bonus contracts be broken? Dodd wants a targeted tax on bonuses OK with that? SenJohnMcCain@GStephanopoulos i haven’t seen it but i would explore every option. i repeat, we wouldn’t have this problem if we hadn’t bailed them out GStephanopoulos@SenJohnMcCain RIght, but didn’t you vote for first TARP, which went to AIG? SenJohnMcCain@GStephanopoulos i voted for first tarp but that doesn’t mean i voted to bail out AIG. GStephanopoulos@SenJohnMcCain Obama says GOP can’t "just say no" on budget Will you offer a full alternative to Obama budget? SenJohnMcCain@GStephanopoulos I’m working with others on alternatives – cong paul ryan has some great ideas. SenJohnMcCain@GStephanopoulos to follow up – first AIG bailout was pre-tarp. GStephanopoulos@SenJohnMcCain Take point on 1st AIG bailout How about budget? Will you offer alternative? GStephanopoulos@SenJohnMcCain What worries you more: Pakistan or Iran? SenJohnMcCain@GStephanopoulos both. the challenges are different but both significant. GStephanopoulos@SenJohMcCain Cheney said on CNN that Obama putting US at risk of new terror attack Agree? SenJohnMcCain@GStephanopoulos too early to draw that conclusion. GStephanopoulos@SenJohnMcCain Lots of twitterers want to know: what do you think of Meghan’s feud with Coulter and Ingraham? SenJohnMcCain@GStephanopoulos I’m proud of my daughter and she has a right to her opinions. SenJohnMcCain@GStephanopoulos like any family we agree on some things and disagree on others. GStephanopoulos@SenJohnMcCain Thanks for your time Senator. You’re a good sport I know I’m not getting anymore on Coulter and Ingraham Happy St Pat’s again SenJohnMcCain@GStephanopoulos Thanks a lot george, let’s do it again soon. now i look forward to reading our followers comments and insults. Props for trying this, George. Wish you could have pinned him down on the iran/Pakistan issue more. I like his voice on that. You tweet well, my friend.

This rhetoric from conservatives that Obama is a danger” to America is flat disturbing. These folks should know better…

Just a minor typing error Sen. McCain. Always we start a sentence with a Capital Letter. (i) as well is always written in Capital Letter (I), whether its at the beginning of a sentence or anywhere it is placed!

We are in danger because we kill so many in foreign lands. Their loved ones kind of get angry. We also support unfair policies especially with regards to the Israeli/Palestinian issue. At least Obama is willing to engage our so-called enemies.

I’m with Senator McCain. We should have NEVER bailed out AIG In the first place…. and both nations are of threat to us. Great answers John McCain!!!

Posted by: joe | March 17, 2009, 1:24 pm 1:24 pm

The thing is…the Republicans already failed on the security issue as did the entire government. Case in point; 911. What was the result? Punish the American people with a draconian act called the Patriot Act. A rush to paranoia caused the government to blithely do away with many freedoms we once enjoyed such as conversing on the phone without the NSA listening in. There is no one expert on security especially when dealing with zealots. All we can do is support the President and hope they have the American people and their best interest at heart.

It is so funny that now that McCain is using the computer he think he is the man. McCain agreed with Bush/Cheney torture so he irrelavant.

Posted by: gl | March 17, 2009, 1:26 pm 1:26 pm

We’re in less danger now because we will be invading foreign lands less, and no longer turning our backs to those we deem our “enemies”. God forbid what McCain would be doing right now if president.

SenJohnMcCain hi george im a little slow

Posted by: gl | March 17, 2009, 1:29 pm 1:29 pm

Too bad the most important question to ask McCain right now is not in there:
What does McCain think of the leaked ICRC report? He has stated repeatedly that he is against torture and, unlike most of his party’s bosses, not just the word but the act in itself.
Is he willing to follow through and help bring the perpetrators to justice?

Posted by: El_Pajaro | March 17, 2009, 1:30 pm 1:30 pm

RS, Did you really just correct Senator McCain on his Twitter grammar? Way to have your priorities straight. Do you have any Spring fashion advice you want to interject into the conversation about Iran or AIG?
Good interview George. Next time, make it longer if possible. Oh yeah, don’t forget to have your tweets proofread by your editor before publishing. We don’t want RS to get distracted from the primary topic.

Posted by: ms | March 17, 2009, 1:30 pm 1:30 pm

Very interesting — I am a conservative, but all I could think of was a team of PR folks surrounding McCain and telling him (or doing it for him) what to tweet. His answers were way too sterile and took way too long to tweet (thinking too much). I guess once a politician, always a politician, which is a shame. Don’t think this is the most effective medium for political landscape, however, a great social media experiment. “A” for effort, “F” for substance (in time, perhaps).

I enjoyed the “twitterview,” and am glad that George S. chose John McCain, the public figure I most admire, as its subject. McCain gave such intelligent, sensible answers. And he is right to be proud of his daughter, Meghan, who is a refreshing new presence on the scene, speaking up for moderation, centrism, and tolerance.

McCain is smart and experienced. Too bad he’s still involved in a pissing contest with the Nation’s elected choice for president. You can’t be a sore loser forever. And as long as you are, you are not looking out for the people who elected you. Get over it and get back to your job.

First of all, the fake “outrage” by Obama on AIG
bonuses was just another ploy by Obama the actor.
Jake Tapper nailed Gibbs on this issue and reminded him that weeks ago there was reassurance from the White House that they knew exactly what AIG was doing with all the money.
Now, be prepared to be GENUINELY outraged:
Obama plans to make our brave soldiers pay for their own medical care! HotAir has the info: American Legion Commander Angered After Meeting with Obama

Posted by: Michelle | March 17, 2009, 2:07 pm 2:07 pm

Why couldn’t AIG suspend payment of the bonuses until the company is solvent?
If AIG still needs money, as they say, how can they afford to pay bonuses?
If they can afford to pay them, they don’t need the new $30 billion.

I tell you what now as far as things seing between “The Financial Crisis” and “The Economic Crisis” all over the place with massive Lay-Offs everywhere at this point you migth as well wondering if we are going through a “Financial Terror” attack of some kind with so much fishy stuff happening every single day. Where is the Money? My Friends! I dont know!!!

Interesting new interview challenges in this format..I’m glad Senator McCain is such a good sport and carries a thick skin. Thank you to both of you for trying something new to help us all communicate. Twittering requires concise questions and equally concise answers, which is not a common thing in politics.

Posted by: barbsid | March 17, 2009, 2:11 pm 2:11 pm

Michelle: No, they won’t have to pay for their medical care—their private insurance may be charged for their care.
I don’t agree with the idea, but it is important to get the facts straight.

Posted by: George | March 17, 2009, 2:11 pm 2:11 pm

For Cheney to suggest that the President has placed us in greater danger of another terrorist attack might be construed as an invitation to those terrorists. He should have passed on that question.
I was happy to hear John McCain point out that it is too early to make that judgment.

Posted by: George | March 17, 2009, 2:19 pm 2:19 pm

“The thing is…the Republicans already failed on the security issue as did the entire government. Case in point; 911. What was the result? Punish the American people with a draconian act called the Patriot Act.”
Funny how I recall Obama voting for this and the NSA wire taps. Get over it and move forward, we don’t have time to ponder and lash out against the last 8 years, its getting old and washed up at this point. There is so much blame to go around and its easy to point a finger and act like you have all the facts. I am tired of government and Bush was not much of a help when it came to curtailing the budget, but thats not what got us into this. Its about greed and bad lending practices, in part by our own governments actions around Fannie and Freddie. Hey banks go sell the loan we will pick up the tab. I guess I would go sell a loan too with not much worry. Fannie and Freddie are bleeding cash and no one is talking about them, because its all politics all the time and Barney will keep them safe and sound, even if they bankrupt a nation.

Hi George,
Using twitter was a great idea for a quick interview. I have to give John Mc Cain credit. It seems he has come a long way in using technolgy. During the campaign he said that he was unfamiliar with gadgets like email, etc. However, I feel that his views and communication style is old news.

Posted by: Dea | March 17, 2009, 2:43 pm 2:43 pm

afan – Not my point. McCain said he would not have voted for the bailout and I just pointing out but he did. I come on this site from time to time and I notice the evilness of the conversative comments toward the President. Saying President Obama have made this county more danagers is an invitation of an attack just what some of you far right wing nuts is hoping for. This type of thinking is sick becasue the next attack may will be in your back yawn you racist fools.

Posted by: gl | March 17, 2009, 2:44 pm 2:44 pm

Refreshing to hear McCain hasn’t changed since the campaign…he admitted not knowing anything about the economy then and true to form still doesn’t. Noncommital on Iran and Pakistan…not surprised. What a joke of a President he would have made…he’s a true Republican…just as ignorant and anti-American as the rest of the Republicans for not getting on board with President Obama on making changes for the better good of ALL Americans…not just the rich like Bushie did.

The country missed the boat on this election. This was the time that we needed the wisdom and experience of John McCain to run the country. Instead, you all voted for a rookie who talked a good talk. Don’t come crying when all of his programs cause your taxes to go up.

Posted by: Sandi B | March 17, 2009, 2:45 pm 2:45 pm

scandal is keeping contractual law when paying out to foreign banks as you were contractually obligated to??? Mr McCain, your lack of finance education shows. In bad times, ESPECIALLY in bad times, you must PROVE that american companies ALWAYS meet their contractual obligations. If values of assets insured by AIG fall, they were bound by their own agreement to pay out. If they do not honor that pay out, after having taken premium payments from foreign banks , the n you are guarrenteeing that no foreign banks will do business with american corporations again! You MUST retain contractual law! we NEED foreign investment and when foreign countries look around the world, in this bad economy, and say ‘well, in the US they ALWAYS pay back as promised” we will be seen as a good place to invest regardless of bad times. EXACTLY what we need. You default on those contracts foriegn investment will dry up in a heartbeat. Not very savy of you, Mr. McCain. And as for “I would not have bailed them out”, do you understand what they do??? They are the equivalent of the FDIC for private investors in banks! If AIG goes down, there is a run on banks and corporations that AIG insured when you leave them hanging in the breeze. That would have accelerated us to a depression, guarrenteed. No, Mr. McCain, what is at issue here is WHY was AIG allowed to make insurance contracts on mortage backed securities and NOT required to put capital aside if those securities go south??? Why were they allowed to take in money from these premiums with no contingency plan if the assets behind the securities (the loans) were to falter??? There was NO contingency. THAT is the role of government. To safeguard the economy and to watchdog wreckless institutions. You failed there, Mr. McCAin. The republican ideal of ‘let them hang themselves’ is akin to saying “let them hang US” and Rome did fall. You let the banks fail, it all comes down. Your take on “I’d let them fail” is VERY niave. Have a nice discussion with a banker or a financial expert before you spout more foolishness. Another question for you: Why are banks allowed to take on insurance for bad securities rather than just put the capital aside to meet their ratios??? Obviouslly capital to liability ratios are NOT the proper indicator of bank health especially given that bad assets aregiven better ratings when they are insured, even though the insurance is guarrenteed…by the bad assets as collateral!!!! This is a dog running after it’s tail!! Why did you allow this sort of thing??? who is watching the shop?!?! republicans need to stop being the party of “NO” and starting stepping up to understand the problems so you can help with the solutions. It is a sad day when I listen to a senator and it is clear as day you do not understand what happened, still, after all this time. For shame.

“the wisdom and experience of John McCain “….after all this time, John McCain STILL does not understand what is going on. Obviously, you do not as well. Simpleton thinking will NOT get us out of this. When the folks workingfor banks and wallstreet are 100times more sophisticated than our laws and our politicians that is when we get in messes such as this. Thank God John McCain is’nt president. He is not at all up for the job of unraveling this. He still isn’t up to speed on what is going on.

With changes Obama is making, I have a lesser sense of security with regard to the nation. Our enemies can not be trusted and to think that you can talk your way out of any situation is naive. We live in a cruel world and making nice with the enemy is only going to lead to false sense of security.

The government has no business doing anarchey in the AIG business. The government can’t tell private business how to conduct business as long as they are not breaking the law, and now the gov says they will tax the bonus checks at 91%, would you want to give the gov the right to do that? This has passed socialism and gone to anarchey. All that the government needs to to is call the loan and let AIG fall where it lays.

Disgusted–great job summarizing the complex bail out–tough format to do so. The McCain position is un-informed. That he re-stated his position is scarey. Bailing out AIG is far from popular, but easily the lesser of two evils.

American hero, patriot, statesman McC still calls it straight, batting (battling) victory for America, for Americans. The control vote will no doubt change in 2 yrs from Dem to Rep control again? No time to babysit blog-whining. This OJT thing’s scaaarrry.

o Sen McCain reads our insults? eeegads, who’d have thought? He’s lots more likeable on twitter even slightly endearing. Too bad he’s non committal about Cheney’s looney remarks. How’s about torturing detainees for a factor putting us at future risk. Generations of hatred. How’s about that?

Posted by: Gaias Child | March 17, 2009, 5:01 pm 5:01 pm

Keredte,
you’re right that “Cheney didn’t get the memo that the Republican fear mongering and scare tactics are OVER!” It’s been replaced by democratic fear mongering.
Example: “The economy is in crisis … wait I meant catastrophe! … quick pass my trillions in spending to save it … faster, we’re almost doomed … don’t bother reading it, we’ll just borrow the money from China … FASTER, just ignore the earmarks… HURRY, BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!!!”
That ladies and gentlemen is how you spend more money (and generate more debt) than any president in history.

Some people are so mean to McCain. Insulting him for his typing, too old to move into 21st century,,,,etc..
The funny thing is this person also made lots of mistakes in his/her vocabularies.
Would you get a mirror please…

Bad format for an interview, good to see McCain’s learning some computer skills. I voted Obama and think he’s doing a great job with the mess he has to deal with. GW would have had 15 vacation days already used up. That being said McCain is great. He is always honest and voices his opinions in a common sense way. Why he chose Palin as a running mate I will never understand.

When is Cheney going to be brought to justice for ordering the fabrication of drawings of non-existent “vast” underground Iraqi bunkers and mobile biological weapons laboratories? Remember those physical drawings Congress was shown to bolster the case for the illegal invasion of Iraq? Someone physically designed, fabricated, and drew these schematics. There is ample evidence for war crimes charges. Why are they not being filed?

Posted by: War Crimes | March 17, 2009, 5:41 pm 5:41 pm

This back and forth between John and George is very interesting. Very interesting. I like the Senator, always have. I voted for O’bama, but got against Mc’Cain-except his choice of running mate in naught 8. So, this “Twitter” is a potentially “transparent/opaque” medium for government communication/obfuscation. And I think McCain has made a good first effort. Very interesting. Though, he should stand up a bit steadier for his offspring. I mean really, isn’t Blood a tad bit thicker than goofs like Coulter and Ingraham?

Posted by: Chris from Kentucky | March 17, 2009, 5:49 pm 5:49 pm

Matt, unless you’ve grasped the difference between “it’s” and “its,” you are in no position to correct the senator’s grammar.

Posted by: Bob Kiger | March 17, 2009, 5:53 pm 5:53 pm

I can’t believe NEITHER George nor John (where’s Ringo?) had the facts straight regarding AIG!!! But, at least George didn’t LIE about it! Though the AIG bailout didn’t go to a vote in Congress (it was a Fed Reserve-led operation), McCain actually flip-flopped within the first two days AND SUPPORTED IT! (e.g. http://www.ajc.com/living/content/news/stories/2008/09/18/pestocks.html?cxntlid=inform_artr)
Regardless, whether or not McCain INTENTIONALLY LIED, he certainly framed his answer in a way that intentionally tried to make it look like a Democratic or Obama idea. When, in fact, nothing was further from the truth.
Once again, I am ashamed of my AZ Senators, and once again I am disgusted by Sen. McCain’s bald-faced lies.

Everyone is a republican on this blog you critisize Obama but it was Bush that got us in this mess in the first place everyone voted for the first bailout so leave that alone obviously as an American you don’t want to back your president unless he is a white republican please. I live in Canada and I tell you Canadians love Obama hate BUSH so maybe see what the world saw of BUSH they hated him they are happy he is gone you might want to look beyone your own back yard.

Great, “twitterview”. it’s deffinately something I would love to see again. Can’t say I didn’t expect most of those answers. He left plent of room for judgement. Didn’t trap himself in anything. Nice. I can agree with everyone who would have liked to see the senator give a more in depth point of view on the Iran/Pakistan subject. But oh well. By the way cut the senator some slack when it comes to gramatical errors. They’re unimportant, and if you ask me, it help set the mood for a laid back interview. After all it is twitter… That’s as nonchelante as it could get.

Posted by: James | March 17, 2009, 6:44 pm 6:44 pm

The only reason Cheney is hitting the media circuit with his outrageous accusations is a pre-emptive public relations campaign in an attempt to sway public opinion before the investigation of his atrocities and lies is complete and the full truth about the Bush/Cheney Administration is out there for the world to see. If he had nothing to fear he would be happy livin in a van down by the river – smokin a joint.

He wants to judge Obama’s national security calls later — like after we have another attack, or not.
In the health care world that’s called reverse underwriting, a crime in many states.

Pretty cool stuff, George. Twitter’s amazing. Hopefully Republicans will start to be more of an aid than a hindrance so we can turn this economy around and actually focus on solving the deeper, systemic issues for why we’re in this situation. Obviously bad banking’s a good place to start, but there are other issues, like global poverty, that have huge economic and geopolitical ramifications.
The Borgen Project (www.borgenproject.org) has some interesting insight into addressing the issues of global poverty, something we can remedy easily and sustainably.
Some interesting figures to ponder:
$30 billion USD: The annual shortfall to end global poverty.
$550 billion USD: The annual US defense budget.

This is great! Hopefully all of us will bring more content and less useless name calling. We all are learning and I believe this will challenge journalism as it has been known. Sorta like everyone getting a chance to “play ball” in a major league game. New rules and tactics are being developed as we type.

Posted by: Rick | March 17, 2009, 8:25 pm 8:25 pm

Well, that was interesting. Frankly, I see no value in Twitter’s 140 character limit. While I like the online chat format, I find the maximum of 140 characters onerous. It limits the questions, which usually, as it appears here, is not a problem. But, as noted in some journalists’ comments, the reply limit does not provide for in depth comments and as a result do not answer questions with the depth needed to understand the full scope of the respondent’s position. Whether you agree or disagree with the respondent, it is important to understand the full scope and intent of the replies. In short, Twitter needs to be revised to allow for at least 2,000 characters. The one thing I do LIKE about Twitter is that I do not have to LISTEN to the interviewees that I do NOT agree with – I can read their verbatim replies and know that the comments are ACTUALLY what they say. Obviously, anyone familiar with journalism knows very well that when some journalists “quote” a politician, the truth is that sometimes the “quote” is often NOT what is actually said. Twitter allows me to “hear” the actual comments truly made. In addition, the upside is that the “cost” of Twitter is NOT an obstruction, such as the cost of airtime on TV or radio. On the matter of the content, I think for a new venue both George and John did a reasonable job. George tried to ask tough questions and John had minimal space in which to answer them without using multiple Twitter entries which is not the intent of the system. It is a type of verbal tennis match in interview form. I ask for a quick revision to Twitter to allow for at least 2,000 characters on both sides.

Mr. McCain did not say it was “too early to tell if Obama has put nation at risk of terror attack”. He said it was “too early to draw that conclusion”. There is a difference. The headline makes it sound like Mr. McCain posed the question himself, which he had not. This is a great example of “muckraking’. If only today’s journalists had taken journalism classes…

i liked the interviewing process on twitter. i would like to see more of this sort of interview. i do not, however, understand how his answers caused you to draw your conclusions as written in your opening analysis. do you know one another so well that you communicate by “mental telepathy” or “mental empathy”? i wonder because the words did not point specifically in that direction. nice idea, though, albeit far too short …10 different subjects would have seemed to be more fulfilling.

Nice try, but perhaps this format is better suited for covert interviews, with the limits imposed.
I did enjoy the back and forth, but even a phone interview would have yielded more texture to the exchange.
Was a good idea to try and a good way to xmit short thoughts or a stream of consciousness type deal, but not so good for an actual interview.
We missed the tone of the voice, inflections, pregnant pauses, etc…

What ? “Too early” to judge Obama in regards to to putting us at risk ?? Here some points that should be added, that he must have not have looked at (From NewsMax):
- Obama’s choice for U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder, labeled enhanced interrogation techniques as outright “torture” during his Senate confirmation hearings.
- Obama banned waterboarding and ordered CIA interrogators to abide by U.S. Army Field Manual regulations.
- He selected Clinton-era political operative Leon Panetta to serve as his CIA director. Panetta’s qualifications to run the agency have been questioned widely.
- Obama announced that he would shut down the Guantanamo Bay detention facility in Cuba within one year, raising the prospect of hardened terrorists entering the U.S. criminal justice system, or worse, being released to rejoin al-Qaida.
- He indicated the U.S. defense budget would be sharply reduced.
- He has sent a letter to Russian leaders, apparently offering to back off on the ballistic missile defense system that would protect Europe from Iran and North Korea.
My country is soooo in dire need of a leader that will stand up for this country, not weaken it. McCain is just Democrat light. I don’t care about his age, but where he stands on the issues, and so far, they are wanting.
Obama just wants to appease everyone in the UN for thier approval, he does not care about self preservation for the USA. You’ll know a man by what he does, not what he says.

George, I watch your show every week and I normally think you are one of the best. This time,I think, you were looking for sensationalism. Who cares what Mc Cain thinks on Obama. For one thing, this mess was not created by him…he was unlucky to step into a situation unlike any other. No, he is not perfect, but he is a “heck of a lot better then what we had.” Too bad he has not been given the 100 days and support like all the other presidents. Some people want him to fail (RL) and no one stands up to him. The dixie chicks said one bad thing about Bush and was practically drummed out of show business. I didn’t approve of their remark, either, but let’s give this guy a chance. You, of all people, know what is going on and you choose not to point things out as it is better for your interview. The republicans have not given President Obama the respect he deserves. Only one of them stood up to that fat talk show host who has no real ideas just negative rhetoric. But no one will defend our new president. He is not perfect and he will make some mistakes but he has earned the respect other presidents have had and at least the 100 days which others had. He will restore our standing with other countries, I am sure. I would like for you to point out that this mess is not his mess and that he stepped into a recession which had been denied by the republicans for over a year. Now, they know it all. Where were they when the first tarp money was given out…no AIG bonus rules were pointed out then, either. I know President Obama will straighten this mess out and I hope you will give him the opportunity and the respect he deserves. I still think you are the best…

Posted by: talmag | March 19, 2009, 3:49 pm 3:49 pm

I wonder if the majority of those getting bonuses are Republican or Democrat? Does Mr. Cheney ever smile? Is it just me or does it seem that there are alot of politicians who are just going along with some party line and are really devoid of any real compassion for the people they represent. Sort of like cardboard human beings. By the way I was at my nephews little league game when Marine 1 flew right above us. Thats when I realized that maybe Obama is truly one for the people. He sure is trying!

For all the so called intelligence of liberals. They cannot rub two brain cells together in understanding cause and effect. If they can’t figure out the answer to something they change the wording to confuse everyone into believing they do have the answers. The damage they cause by pretending they know what they talk about is stunning and in the end dangerous to the Constitution that they view as toilet paper. Their rule book was written by Karl Marx.

Posted by: john3 | March 23, 2009, 1:07 am 1:07 am

The liberals don’t want Republican help. What they want is for enough republicans to join them so they can share blame for bankrupting the country. That way they can do what they always do blame someone else. If the republicans don’t help them and the country is attacked they will blame the republicans anyway for not working with them. Liberals are in charge and they should accept the blame for their own mess. How many will die before those who voted them in, will fix the problem?

We are in danger and believe me they have hit every president in my recent memory.
