Common Sense,
The Article States the Word "Armies" not Army. The Founders did not dictate what specific type of "Armies" was allowed. (ex. Artillary, Calvalry, Foot Soliders.) So the word would also incompasses an Air Force. This is the Argumanet that is legally used to defend the organization of the Air Force. Therefore according to the Courts, it is a Constitutional organization.
CowGirl
The Letter Madison wrote was a First Hand account of what took place during the Creation of Constitution. Since you and I were obviously not there, his account takes precedence. It is not Opinion it is Fact. The Title "Father of the Constitution" was not penned by me, but by others in the Continental Congress. Read anything on Madison and you can read it for yourself. There were many who debated and contributed but those same Men where the ones who gave that Title to Madison, even if it was disputed by Madison himself.
mmonroeliveson,
What Movie?
Gus,
I have not read all of the ongoing debate about the French on this Forum, but I would have to agree the French did contribute heavily to our Independence.

To all you lying republicants here you should get your lies straight.
John McCain campaigned to END earmarks.
Barack Obama campaigned to REFORM the earmark process.
Stop getting your news from Fox, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, CBS and NBC and find out for yourselves.
Your lies got us into this middle east mess.
If you think we are stupid enough to put another republican in charge of our country you had better think again. One dummy per century is about all this country can take.
All you Herbert Hoover republicans...KMA

"silky, If Iraq goes to the "dogs again" it will be thanks to Obama and on his watch."
My God, you're naive. So I guess we're supposed to occupy Iraq forever? We're suppose to put a surge in every time Sunni and Shi'ite tribe start at one another? We're supposed to guard the oil? You know what? Forget it. If you don't see the whole picture by now, you're not going to.

Looks like it's been "Quite A Day!" Lots of bickering, bantering, "finger pointing", substantiated and unsubstantiated claims. Lots of 'cut-n-paster's', gambler's (who'll just toss something out there (for effect), with their fingers crossed and the "Hobo's" - out there to jump on any train going in their direction. Then there's the Liar's and the Flier's. You Liar's know who you are. But yet you persist, coming back daily with the same-old-trash..... in hopes, I guess... that you'll get a slightly new audience, who JUST MIGHT 'buy into your 'unadulturated crap.' The Flier's are "just along for the ride." They're the "Hanger On's", they have their partisan platform (Left, Center or Right) and they set out to influence the mis-educated, the mis-informed or the illiterate - "By Any Means Necessary!"
A couple of major problems, I detected while browsing, that I could use some help with;
1.) "Our Congressional Representatives were elected to represent The People." If that's True, why is it that 60%+ of The People are supportive of President Obama, giving him "good marks" in Job Performance AND his handling of the Economy, thus far. The People's sentiments (+ 60%) is certainly NOT reflected in the positions of The People's Elected Legislator's!!!
2.) Several Participant's claim that President Obama won the 2008 Election, based largely on the overwhelming support of blocs of voters; The Young Vote, The Black Vote and The Hispanic Vote. Well the Obama Campaign was sufficiently Effective to garner all 3 of those Valuable Voter blocs. But please be Clear, the Primary Group of Voters responsible for the 2008 Election of Barack Obama, was the Overwhelming Turn-Out of the "Well Educated, Largely Affluent, Politically Engaged - White Female Voter, nationwide!"
It's been fun, it's late, game's on.

cowgirl; Sorry I wasn't around to respond to your earlier post about wars weakening governments. The was a time when wars strengthened governments. Persia once ruled the entire middle east. Israel once ruled the entire area from North Africa to the orient. The sun never set on the British Empire. The United States is not an empirical government so wars invariably hurt us. Once the war ends we actually assist our opponent's rebuilding effort and gain no terrotory or assets as the result of war. The reason those previously mentioned empires failed was the same in each case. Over extension. Too much territory to manage. Too much expense. This is the danger we face today in our government's assumption of responsibility over more and more aspects of things that have previously been private sector managed aspects of our lives and/or things we provided for ourselves. By overburdening the financial capabilities of our central government and then requiring our government to meet its commitments we will bankrupt our nation eventually. I'm not saying it will be the end of our nation, but it will surely be the end of our nation's prosperity.
