Everyone, please get a grip. The dog was given to him by Ed. Kennedy because he had been in four homes and did not make it. If that is not an adopted dog, what is? Kennedy had been pressuring him for months to get one of these dogs. There were only two types of dogs for his girl who is allergenic. Both were fancy dogs from everyday perspective. Give him a break and take a breath yourself. This is not what is important although I am an animal lover myself and have two rescue dogs. If I had a child who was allergenic, I would do the same. Let’s have some peace on this issue.

Iam sadden to see what dog he got .I wish he could watch a video of puppy-mills. I am hoping he will do something to end this .And all the cruelty to poultry industry the beef industry .This country needs to clean up its act on the way animals are treated in england germany they dont treat them like that .Its become against the law to dock tails and crop ears. wake -up peolpe animals feel to.

If they said they wanted a rescue or shelter pet, I think they should had kept their word. Many citizens look up to the president’s office and what they each say at all times.
We have a shelter here that is closing down. They say it is due to not enough families coming to adopt pets. These little ones need all the help they can get. Too many are put down. With all the waste of $$$, can’t see how people can end the pets lives like that. Maybe, if they could speak, it would be different.
Hope their dog has a good life but would be nice if they did follow up as they said. It could had brought attention to many pet centers who are feeling the crunch of keeping the shelters going.

BTW my sister’s small rescue terrier later bit my daughter in the face while she was crawling. Posted by Dollared 12:11:59 PM.

When you have a pet either cat, dog or whatever never let your baby alone with your pet.
It doesn’t matter they come from a shelter or any breeder.
You have to introduce your pet to your baby and show your pets that they are not forgotten.
Some pets will get jealous of a new born baby or new family member.
My sister’s cocker spaniel used to play with my niece when she was 1 year old and this dog came from a shelter.

Thanks for joining us animal lovers.
I also do not believe Pit Bulls are fierce, bad dogs.
I think it depends on the owner how they treat their pets.
I feel sorry for them because some states ban Pit Bull.

Carl, the point I was making was that this was NOT an unwanted dog. PWD are trendy (even before the First Family got one) and relatively rare. This dog would have been snapped up by someone else from the breeder– it was not rescued.
Not selecting a rescued dog is one issue and I have no problem with the Obamas getting a dog from a breeder. I’m not an anti-breeder activist type, not at all. (My beef has been on the political nature of pandering to the rescue/shelter crowd and then not carrying through). But trying to label Bo a rescue dog to satisfy those who wanted to see a shelter adoption is a different issue. Don’t buy the spin. Bo seems to be a lovely, adorable animal who will bring much love to the First Family. But he is not a rescue
