Meghan McCain to Rove & Cheney: ‘Go Away’
ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: Meghan McCain guest-hosted ABC’s "The View" Thursday and brought some blunt advice for Karl Rove and Dick Cheney: "Go away."
"It’s very unprecedented for someone like Karl Rove or Dick Cheney to be criticizing the president," McCain said. "My big criticism is just, you had your eight years, go away."
Meghan McCain, the 24-year-old daughter of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., last week appeared at a gathering of gay Republicans to appeal to the GOP to support gay marriage, as part of a broader effort to reach out to a new generation of voters.
She’s also been engaged in something of a public debate with Rove, starting with a recent Daily Beast column where she called it “creepy” that former President George W. Bush’s top political adviser was following her on Twitter.
On "The View," she reiterated her view that the GOP needs to remake its image among younger voters — with new faces and voices.
"We have to branch out, or the Republican Party will become obsolete. It’s just facts," she said.
What do you think? Who’s a more effective spokesperson for the Republican Party these days — Meghan McCain or Karl Rove?

As a life long Republican, I have realized that the Republican Party no longer represents me either Missie. I have discovered that I am a conservative and the Republicans no longer represent us any more than the Democrats do.
Both parties have abandonded the Constitution and have allowed judges to be the deciding power in this country instead of being an equal partner. As forhomosexuals, they are the curse of every civilization throughout history that abandons God. (there that ought to stir up some hornets – another useless insect)
By the way Missie, the Constitution and morals are absolutes and do not change over time, just for the convenience of deviates.

Go away Megan! :) In all seriousness, it’s a bit silly for her to think ( and you other “posters” here) that she is some sort of expert. The ONLY reason she gets any attention is because she is John McCains daughter and is DEFYING her daddy. It sells and gets headlines. It’s VERY disrespectful for her to so insult people who have made a lifetime of serving this country. I HATE Barney Frank, but I still owe him some respect for serving this country. Grow up Meghan! You commenters should grow up a bit too, and realize that part of being an adult means being respectful even to those with whom you disagree. Is civility and decorum dead? Among the rabble… yes.

While I uphold everyone’s right to their opinion, this young woman does not speak for the majority of conservatives. As a “young voter” myself, I can say that she certainly doesn’t speak for me.

Unprecedented?
Have we already forgotten Al Gore’s fire-breathing, public scoldings of The Bush administration?
Note to Miss McCain: I’m sure you’re a nice young lady and all, but wake up… You’re only receiving media attention because you’re bashing Republicans. You’re being used. The second you’re critical of Obama, you’ll be kicked to the curb and written off as an idiot by the same people who are now trumpeting you.

Meghan doesn’t realize it yet but she’s harming her party by piling onto the ‘let’s keep talking each other down’ train. She is playing into the hands of the opposing party, and sadly, she loves the attention so much she can’t see the reality. She’s really self-absorbed, all her blog posts are about her and how cool she is. Come back in 10 years Meghan with some life and work experience and a little less spoiled rich girl perspective and you might make a decent addition to the public face of the party.

I am sorry but as a younger republican I do not agree w/ her stance on gay marriage…I do not think either her or rove or cheney make good spokesman for the republican party. Go out to small town america and you will find out what the average republican thinks. I do not think marriage is for gay people. They can have their “ceremonies” or “unions” that allow them to have the same medical and seperation and death benefits as the hetero group, just don’t call it marriage. This girl is just trying to get the view ladies to like her. Not sure if she could stand up to their perspectives so she says something to make them agree w/ her.
Posted by: life | April 23, 2009, 5:10 pm 5:10 pm
I think it might be a first for me to be saying that I’m in agreement with a Republican… but Meghan has a very good point. The only reason that young voters have for being Republican is because dear ole Mommy and Daddy vote that way. The Republican party does not appeal to young voters in any shape or form whatsoever.

Megan McCain wants the Republican party to back gay marriage and criticizes Cheney for not supporting them.
She seems to forget that Cheney has a gay daughter and yes he DOES support gay marriage.
Megan McCain is apparently being used by the liberal media and is speaking out of ignorance. It seems the liberal media is ignorant too.
And to all of you left-wing nut jobs who are salivating for the moment when the Republicans are divided, well, that day hasn’t come yet. Megan McCain’s outburst will not divided the party.

Megan hit the nail on the head. Unless the Republican party expands it base. It will be a minority party for a long time. They have to be more than the party that says no. The Republicans expect us to continue the same old failed policies. The voters decided it in November. All they want is for Obama to fail. They stakes are too big to allow it. The stimulus vote showed that they don’t have anything to offer.

I simply ask that you do not demonize gays because of your stance (I’m afraid some far righties did too much of this). Good luck with democrats not demonizing you over it though, huh? Just curious Jocko – are you one of those old school Republicans who believe “absolute morals” come from “Biblical inerrancy” – that the Bible is totally without error?
Turns out Christian denominations interpret those “absolute morals” in widely different ways. For example, not all Christians believe we can pick and choose from Old Testament writings about killing homosexuals and hold them up as the teachings of Jesus Christ.
And if you read the official stances of the American Psychiatric, Psychological and Pediatric Associations, as well as the American Medical Association, and you would know that they already regard homosexuality as normal, that humans can only choose behavior but not orientation. Are these organizations immoral?
Also, using term “Missie” can be interpreted as patronizing or rude. Guess that’s not on the list of old- school Republican “moral absolutes”.

REAL America is found in Metropolitan areas which brings cities, suburban and small towns into economic and social unions. Small town does not accurately reflects the radically connected and interdependent way that Americans live and work together. Two-thirds of the American population live in the top 100 metropolitan areas. 84% of Americans live in all 363 Metropolitan areas.
The largest metropolitan areas house 76 percent of “knowledge economy” jobs (such as software developers), 81 percent of R&D employment, and 67 percent of major U.S. research universities.

The GOP needs to open its eyes. They don’t have to give up their conservative values, but the era of angry, old, white men has passed. If you want to keep losing elections then keep people like Rove, Cheney, Limbaugh, and Gingrich in the spotlight. The majority of Americans have spoken and they no longer have the stomach for the bitter and divisive politics of old. Miss McCain is a breath of fresh air for the GOP and they should take advantage of it.

There is a history of the spoiled children of prominent politicians who have themselves accomplished nothing trading on their father’s (usually) good name and trashing it with self indulgent and opposite points of view in an attempt to make money for themselves and poke her (usually) thumb in the father’s eye. This is another example.

Rove and Cheney don’t have to go away. If they continue to be high profile the republican party will continue its down hill slide. At some point in the future they will make the republican party academic. That works for me. the question is, does it work for the republican party? They had there chance to govern for eight years. My husband of 25 years and I had a civil marriage ceremony in a private home and were married by a Justice of the Peace with no religious ceremony. We are MARRIED and our MARRIAGE is recognized by the state in which we married, the other 49 and D.C., too. Equal protection under the law demands exactly the same for all US citizens. Honestly, I don’t care about what any religion might decide to honor or not. I don’t live in a theocracy, I live in America, where we have already learned that separate is NOT equal and accommodating bigotry is not a solution to ending prejudice.

The girl obviously is just out to get some attention. She clearly has been starved of attention growing up and so is trying desperately to get some now. Her politico father ignored her and her mother who was addicted to prescription drugs and socializing etc ignored her too.
On top of all of that, the girl’s very fat and she acts like she’s a lesbian. She complains publically no guy wants anything to do with her except to suck up to her father.
So, basically, the girl is a pathetic mess. The liberal media are using her for their ends and that’s making her look like an even bigger fool than she was before.
Someone who knows her should do her a favor and put her in a cave for her own good.

“Couldn’t your Goldwater quote also apply to the Democratic, liberal preachers”? Absolutely. Same with any Party that campaigns using church pulpits.
The Founding Fathers did not create a secular government because they disliked religion. Many were Christians themselves. But they were well aware of the dangers of church-state union – during the colonial period, ties between religion and government produced oppression and tyranny right here in America. Goldwater was right.

I have great respect for Meghan McCain. She cant express her point of view without attacking the oppostion. She is one Republican that I like, even when I don’t agree with her point of view. She could do much for Republicans if she replaced Elizabeth on “The View”. Elizabeth refuses to accept an opinion other than her own, and acts like a adolescent when somebody points out a view different from her own. I stopped watching “The View” because of Elizabeth. Too bad, as it is nice to hear a women’s point of view – both conservative and liberal. However, when the expression boils down to who can scream the loudest, I’d rather listen to another program – or my mother. Hint-hint.

I enjoyed listening to a new voice, if we listen and quit critizing her we might learn something. She has been in politics all her life. She is not just a daughter of a senator. She grew up with politics all around her, has experiences an average child doesn’t have. So if the republican party has any hope listen and learn. I also liked her better than that other host Elizabeth, she is alot more interesting and we can learn about the insides of politics if she would be on more often.

Mr Cheney as the elected VP of this country when sworn in to office took an oath to uphold the laws of this country. It is becoming apparent that he along with others violated that oath. If the laws of this country are truly binding for all Americans, then no single person is above the law. If it is against American laws to torture prisoners, then the person or persons, regardless of party affiliation, responsible for the torture of these prisoners should be held accountable.

As a progressive, I respect Meghan McCain’s slant on Cheney and Rove, but I also wish she would shut up. The GOP is doing an excellent job of tripping over its own feet these days and I’d like to see them continue that pathetic act clear up to 2012. If by some odd chance the GOP was smart enough to listen to Meghan, I think there would be a stronge danger that they might actually become relevant again. Shhh Meghan!

Meghan, you, and your Dad, and your whole family, need to get out of this country. Thanks to your Dad, Obama became president. Your family is obviously dysfunctional and your Dad, who purposely tried to lose the election so Obama could win, demonstrated what a coward he is, and how he dishonored America and the republican party. It is not surprising that he would have a daughter traitor like you. Now, we are losing our country thanks to your dad. Obama will be president for life. There will no longer be elections in the future. Just look at what Obama accomplished in 100 days.

I think Cheney and Rove have gotten away with breaking the law intentionally and willfully outing CIA undercover agent Valerie Plame. What a betrayal that was. And it was a crime…no grey area to debate…CRIME! Nevermind selling to us torture tactics are OK. Selling to us that illegal wire-tapping of US citizens is OK. Selling to us that Iraq was an imminent threat is OK. Telling the UN who we’ve used to get our way many times, that they’re irrellevant when we’re not getting our way is OK. Letting rampant mortgage scams go unregulated for Bush’s entire term in office was OK. Lying about how much defecit Bush was running up was OK. Giving the rich a tax cut while going to war and spending on homeland security was OK. And as the Bush/Cheney/Rove triumviate leaves office, their final act of 700 billion for wallstreet and nothing for mainstreet was OK and leaving this catastrophie for Obama was OK and now anything Obama does is not OK… You know what, if I were Cheney Rove or even Bush, I would just hide under a rock for the next 10 years and hope no one remembers what useless expensive troublemaking turds they were.

So Meghan, if anyone should go away it should be your Dad, John McCain, for allowing a radical muslim to win the election. Your dad would not even allow anyone to mention the word “muslim”, among other things, during his campaign. As a result of his loss, he has allowed Obama to sell us out to all our enemies. Then again, maybe your Dad was never any match to Obama because your dad, is stupid. I hope he does not win again in the senate election. He doesn’t desrve it. So get out of my country!!Traitors!!
Posted by: girlie58 | April 23, 2009, 9:53 pm 9:53 pm
Isn’t this funny: Meghan McCain says Rove and Cheney should “go away” – meaning get out of the spotlight and the news and just shut up for awhile, not leave the country. Yet the hard right-wingers here are calling for Meghan, her dad and their “whole family” to “get out of this country”!
Well, as I have noted elsewhere, hard-line Republicans are on an “all or all” mission: they allow NO room for dissent, NO room for exchange, and NO room for Americans who are “not like them”.
Forget White Supremacy: now we have “red-stater” or “Republican” supremacy. I wonder how soon they will start showing up in red hoods – and what symbol they will burn on people’s lawns. This may be the greater threat.

AMEN
And as my 24 year old daughter notes, there are now 17 ways to produce a human being (not sure if that includes the original or not). Some of us are just fine with fewer people reproducing. The idea of nothing but humans and genetically engineered animals on the planet is revolting.
As far as Meghan, I think she grew up a lot on the campaign. Certainly not too many 24 year olds have the experience in politics she does (good, bad and ugly).
The GOP definitely needs to hear from younger voices about gay marriage and other issues. It is very tied to generations. The young Republicans here saying they don’t agree with her are irrelevant. There aren’t enough of them and the old white men to win elections without cheating.
Just because she’s young, has connections and probably a few maladjustment difficulties (rather the rule in politics) doesn’t mean she can’t have some good ideas or even seeds to sow.
I certainly want the current version of the GOP to get some major transformations, and more political parties would strengthen Congress, Meanwhile we are stuck with a 2 party system for awhile and the less insanity they try to spread, the better.

actually – Rove, Cheney, McConnell, Limbaugh, Boehner and a few other Republicans need to be deposited in Cheney’s secret bunker, sealed up, never to be heard from again. They had 8 years to get it together, however, they and their cronies have trashed the USA to basic bankruptcy. They are the party of ‘no’ – just whine, complain and mock Mr. Obama, when they sat on their laurels doing zero. Just make sure the bunker is sealed tight … see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil.

As a young person, I don’t believe in gay “marriage” and I think the McCains are disgracing a formerly spotless record of public service-Sen. McCain with his vote to confirm Eric Holder and Ms. McCain with her juvenile comments. As for not criticizing the president, any free citizen (including Rove and Cheney) can, if you hadn’t noticed it’s part of their first amendment rights. And it’s not like the democrats withheld criticism of Bush when he was in office.
Posted by: Eleanor | April 24, 2009, 12:21 am 12:21 am
I agree, Cheney and Rove along with their front man, George W. Bush, have had their time (8 long and miserable years) and should gracefully step aside until such time as the Republican Party can effectively offer this country superior leadership. At this time they cannot, that is why they lost in ’08. I have been a lifelong Republican and truly love my party but they have got to make some serious changes to their inner workings and image, but supporting gay marriage is not a plank in the GOP platform that should be changed just to attract more of the younger crowd. We are what we are and you either join this party because you have the same ideals or you don’t and you join another party. You don’t join to make changes to the roots of our party, you join to help nurture and grow it based on what it is.

This is trash from someone whose only claim to fame is having John McCain for a dad. Grow up, Meghan, do something to gain some respect for your own abilities, and then maybe someone will take you seriously. The truth hurts and Meghan is hurting a lot of Republican feelings by placing a mirror to their faces and telling them why they look so ugly. The Republican party is failing becasue there is so much negativity the people can stand before they have to exorcize it. There’s just so long people will allow a group to hold back society before they have to break free and move on. Meghan is right. Allowing civil marriages for gay couples will create more conservatives.

To arianna111…. That’s very good. You’re absolutely correct. There has not been another terrorist attack on American soil since the last one that the Republicans allowed. I guess just one attack that killed thousands is a pretty good track record for republicans. How soon everyone forgets that the Clinton administration went to great lengths to let the incoming administration know that al qaeda was the biggest threat to the American people.

I suppose I am a closet Republican. I tend to vote Democratic in recent years because I vote for who I think would be best for the Country. As I age I realize I am becoming much more conservative (but I still believe a little progressive never hurts). I have stated lately to anyone who will listen that I shall never again vote for a Republican after seeing the blatant partisanship and lack of morals coming from that Party. Each Party represents exactly that–the Party they are affiliated with–the public is left out in the cold.

I don’t pay much attention to Ms. McCain, but I have to address a comment that’s been of much debate – the one about Mr. Bush “keeping America safe”. I take the entire eight years of his presidency into account with that remark. He did not keep me safe. He ignored, or didn’t want to pay attention to, or hoped were not true, warnings about 9/11. I know he didn’t intentionally cause 9/11, but he did not in any way, shape or form keep me or anyone safe. He allowed 9/11 to happen. His lack of courage to act on the information presented to him has brought us into an era of uneasyness and fear that will not go away soon. He did NOT keep me safe, he’s caused me to constantly have the nagging feeling that I no longer live in a country that is safe.
Posted by: RRRR | April 24, 2009, 9:14 am 9:14 am
This is what needs to be done to save the Republican Party. As Christie Todd Whitman has said, the extreme right has taken over the party. Politicians who claim to be leaders, like McCain’s father, instead bow to the base. The inability of the politicians, the men who actually have power, to criticize Limbaugh without apologizing a day later is actually an abdication of leadership. Cheney and Rove have perfected the art of leading the base around by their noses, but are actually men without principle, driven by the acquisition and exercise of power. They have had their chance and have severely damaged the country. They should shut up, and if they don’t, the media should ignore them. After all, Cheney has probably had more public exposure since leaving office than in eight years spent manipulating the sysstem from an undisclosed location.

That’s an interesting way to frame it. What does it have to do with the left? There are plenty on the right who agree with her. The Republican party needs new parameters…new definition…new blood…I realize that kind of an oxymoron, but it’s true. It’s a shambles, and simply gathering around a mutual disdain for the occupany of the White House is neither healthy for the party, nor constructive. I’m not saying she’s a worthy voice in the future of the party, just that she has a point.

I used to be a Republican and voted for Reagan, but left when the party left me to follow the neocons (Goldwater was a REAL conservative) and become a party that only cared about the rich, the right-wing evangelicals et al. I’ve hardly voted for a Republican since. So Meghan is a breath of fresh air. The GOP right now is eating itself alive because it has no new ideas, no leader and (because it’s boxed itself in) nowhere to go. People like Rush, Rove and Cheney have become downright comical.
Obama is our smartest President in a long time. He is getting things done, moving surprisingly well on multiple fronts, bringing back international respect for the US. I fell once again that my government cares about me! If al the GOP can do is cry “socialism” and “no” and worn out out “God, gays and guns” and kiss Rush’s butt, they will be doomed to minority status. With their current crop of clowns, it couldn’t happen to a better bunch.

All commentators have to start somewhere and I think she is off to an interesting career. What makes Limbaugh qualified to speak on ANY subject? At her age he was a college drop out and disc jockey yet he is the mouth piece for the conservatives. She graduated from an Ivy League school and has already published a book. While I understand her point about Rove and Cheney, I do not agree. There are many lessons to be learned from their mistakes and the more they talk the more it reinforces why Obama is in office and not (shudder)McCain/Palin.

Second, I personally think that there is certainly someone more competent than yourself for the very important role of shaping our party. You my dear are NOT a conservative and therefore you should join the liberals since your ‘views’ match more of their own. The republican party can and will be remade to reflect the views of conservatives across this great nation. They will be empowered to uphold the Constitution and the values and principles that made this country great. Used to be registered Republican in the 90s until the party got hijacked by the Right Wing Ultra Conservatives. Now I’m registered as a Democrat and even contributed to Obama, but if the Republican party becomes more like Meghan, I’ll probably switch back to being Independent. Right now the Democrats hold the center, and the Republicans are controlled by right-wing wackjobs. If there are more moderates like Meghan it’ll definitely start taking the center back from the Democrats.
Or you can follow Coulter. Repubs got rid of most of the RINOs and it got them down to 41 seats in the Senate. Maybe you can get rid of the rest (Collins, Snowe, Specter) and you’ll be at a whopping 38. Seems to me like normal Republican math:
tax cuts = more revenue
losing senate seats = winning

Meghan is pro-life, but supports gay marriage. How is that “leaving your morals at the door?”
She graduated from a rigorous all-girl Catholic high school and earned a bachelor’s degree at Columbia. How is that “uneducated”?
You, Rove and Cheney may not know it, but you’re are already obsolete.

I’m just loving the comments by the “Righties!” “Meghan is fat; Meghan is stupid; Meghan is too young to know what she’s talking about; Meghan is “just” a politician’s daughter; Meghan is a closet lesbian.” If any of you fools are still scratching your heads about how the GOP got its butt trounced in November, search your own words to get a clue. Your party has run out of ideas and has alienated the vast majority of American voters because the best you can do to argue your beliefs is to personally belittle anyone who disagrees with you.
The GOP has become too rigid, too exclusive. It has become the party which foolishly believes in “all or nothing” choices. It will not take under its umbrella fiscal conservatives who believe in equal rights for ALL our citizens. It rejects proponents of the 2nd Amendment if they are also pro-choice. It does not tolerate those who abhor the death penalty, even when those same voters favor less government spending on those who refuse to help themselves. And finally, the GOP has refused to recognize that most Americans can support the soldier,if not the war that soldier is ordered to fight.
Therefore, I am a Democrat. Most likely, Meghan McCain is too, though she just hasn’t realized it. It hasn’t yet dawned on her that by virtue of being “young”, or “fat, or “inexperienced” or outspoken, or constitutionally astute, she can never fit under that tiny GOP umbrella.

I agree that Meghan is about the only sane voice in the NOP, and I understand that her loyalty to her father probably keeps her there. But may I suggest that since the NOP doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to open up, that there is another major party with absolutely no entrance exam that she can join? Since there are no membership requirements, she will assuredly meet members who don’t agree with her or who may not welcome her, but she will also meet many people happy to interact with her on a friendly basis similar to the interaction she experienced in The View. Maybe she can talk with her dad and get him straightened out, too. After all, the Goldwater’s have come aboard to some extent.

“She never considers that that Rove or Cheney just MIGHT know more than she does, and these guys don’t want this country to get attacked.”
Where do we start on this silliness? Has justrighttoo missed the fact that “these guys” who MIGHT know so much are responsible for the economic situation that we are in because they “knew” that regulations were strangling business? And he worries about Afghanistan invading us when we have already destroyed ourselves?!!! bin Laden jerked “those guys” around like puppets and got them to spend us into the same disaster that the Russians did in Afghanistan during the Carter administration. bin Laden is quite frank that he will bleed America dry by yanking the Republicans’ string so that they spend money on antimissile missiles instead of education and healthcare. And his program is working beautifully thanks to the aforementioned guys who MIGHT know what they are doing.
Let me tell you that bin Laden isn’t stupid. He sees no reason to invest time and resources in destroying us when “these guys” are adamant about doing it for him.

Something I find very amusing is these people pontificating on Meghan and her supposed lack of knowledge about the world, politics, and everything else. She was raised in a political family. She graduated from an excellent university where she had to be exposed to lots of opinions and attitudes. She is in touch with what’s going on to a MUCH greater extent than most of the commenters. And these little people are somehow so cosmopolitan that they can give her advice. I don’t think so.

Funny that Rove and Cheney are getting so much air time. Since Rove has been supeoned and refuses to testify under oath, should we really believe what we hear outta his mouth on FOX ? Cheney tells us that memos will justify his administrations positions,,,so would testimony under oath!
And as for Gore speaking out against the Cheney/Bush admin, he did not do so for YEARS, respecting tradition until it was unbearable to keep silent. Remember the beard? And the weight gain?
Then, for Cheney to have the gall to utter teh Obama admin is doing the economy damage? Hello, I’m still not able to picture the Cheney/Bush prosperity…..When was that?
And as for Ms McCain, I think that she is an American, so therefore is a valid source of opinion. Much more so than someone that has had 8 years of oppurtunity to do good, and has squandered prosperity, safety, good will, allies world wide, and American pride and standards, while ignoring the constitution.
Please note how the one constant GOP traint now seems to be “projection” of faults and foibles onto anyone that may dare to point them out, such as how “Obama is violating the constitution”. Really? Has he gathered a secret group to attempt to change laws after violating them yet, such as we are learning of the last admin?
Are we incarcerating in secret sites and torturing bankers to learn why the hate America?
And do you really beleive that to acheive bipartisanship Obama should try “tax cuts” as a “new” strategy? Really?
I thought we did that and it got us where we are now!
And gay marriage causes distruction of the institution? So, they are breaking at an even faster rate than the previous 50%?
And is not “imitation the greatest form of flattery?”
I remember the scream about “gay promiscuity” as the source of HIV and aids spreading, and now when the opposite is proposed you oppose that too. Seems that you are exposing your just plain outright hatred.
And hatred is NOT a useful family value. You need to remember that there are AMERICANS that are NOT just like you, but, have the same rights, and dreams just like you; ie, settling down with the person they most love.
Hey, I couldn’t do it, because I’m not gay, but, could not care less about someone elses personal choices that do not harm anyone else.
Is it really your business what goes on in the bedroom nextdoor between adults?
Do you want what goes on in YOUR bedroom publicized?
Is the GOP the party of GALL, or Hypocracy? OR both?

She looks promising – the number one thing the Republican party needs right now are enlightened, intelligent and practical leaders. However, she is still quite young, and her political philosophy is developing. So far, it doesn’t seem to be in lockstep with the GOP’s repulsively idological bent. Maybe she will be part of a new generation leading the party back where it belongs – more towards the center. Once she becomes old enough (she’s not quite 25, almost able to run for the House) to enter serious politics on the national stage, we’ll see how much of her personal ideology emerges. It’ll be sixteen years before she can run in an election in which I could vote for her, but it might be that she will become one Republican I could vote for without holding my nose and suppressing the urge to vomit.

Really…she’s totally hot. I may have found the first Republican woman I’d like to buy and ice cream cone.

Republicans should heed Ms. McCain. Of course, I hope that they stay the disasterous course that they are on.

I admire Meghan for speaking out against Cheney and Rove. Their recent complaints about Obama make the Repubs look like sore losers and unpatriotic for not supporting the President.
I think the Republican Party will split into two groups, the far-right as represented by Limbaugh, Rove and Cheney and the more logical group like Meghan and true fiscal conservatives.

At last, a Republican that I like and respect. She’s smart enough to see that the nasty and toxic old guard must disappear if the Republican party is to survive. Not that there would be any loss if it didn’t…

I wish she would just shut up and sit down. Just an attention getting “daddy’s” girl – as a young voter, she does not represent me!

Hey Ms. Mccain those guys were 2-0 in presidential elections.
Your daddy 0-1.
I think you need to understand that being a moderate in either party is losing cause if I were you I would start my party. Im considered a conservative democrat in the south, and im black, so its one thing to criticize losers but these no matter how much you hate them the were winners and if my memory serves me correct Rove is 4-0 in election dont get mad cause your party is rebuilding mode, now you see how democrats felt in 2000 and 2004

I totally agree with her. Unfortunately the Republican party is not listening. She should just become a Democrat and call it a day.
If you want to be a part of a white, old man’s club, join the GOP.

Texas Aggie; Believing in the Republican/conservative party is as proving how much one is informed as is calling the GOP the NOP!
