No, they don’t tell a different story. There *is* mainstream opposition to many of the things this Congress and Obama are pursuing. I think you’re failing to distinguish between the concept of mainstream opposition and majority opposition. Lest you forgot, 60 million people did not vote for Obama in the election. Many (most?) of those people currently oppose Obama’s and the Democratic Congress’s policies. Unless you’re saying that all 60 million of those people are suddenly right wing fanatics then your claim above is false. Which is exactly the point people who object to this report are making. Just because we lost this election cycle and may not have a majority agreeing with us at this moment, does not mean that we’ve suddenly lost our Constitutional right to free speech and to oppose bad policy.
And, Willem, when the majority of people see the mess Obama and the Dems make of things I want you to be as faithful to the polls as you are now. And even though you might slip into the minority, I’ll even still consider you part of the mainstream (unless you start blowing things up, of course). By the way, did you see even one report of violence from the Tea Parties? Even one flag burning? I didn’t think so, despite all the left-wing fearmongering. The recent IMF protests in Washington were another matter, of course.

Perhaps this is the dumbest one of all, and that’s a statement of majestic dimension. Roughly sixty million people voted Republican five months ago, including no doubt millions of veterans. That means you folks got a real problem on your hands if you are even dumber than Janet Napolitano (I’ve set the bar kind of low for you), who recognizes it as nonsense.
Of course, there are many millions of returning veterans who vote Democrat, and it follows that they could easily be led into taking up arms on behalf of, say, PETA or the Earth Liberation Front.
I suggest that the stupidest among us–and you may not even know who you are–barricade yourselves in your houses, get all your food delivered to you, and make sure the delivery boy keeps his hands in sight at all times.
