New U.S.-China Strategic Dialogue Announced
After President Obama meets today with his Excellency Hu Jintao, president of the People’s Republic of China, and other Chinese leaders at Winfield, the White House will announce a new strategic dialogue with China.
An economic dialogue is already ongoing.
The dialogue will deal with Sudan, Iran, North Korea (already kind of on track), counterterrorism, law enforcement, and a resumption of a human rights dialogue.
The dialogue will be helmed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Dai Bingguo, China’s vice minister of foreign affairs.

Santorum Clarifies Concerns on Women in Combat
Gulf of Mexico to Become Gulf of America?
Sounds good to me. I’d rather they vent by yelling at Hillary Clinton behind closed doors rather than harassing our ships in international waters, sideswiping our aircraft, or any of the other juvenile tantrums they’ve used in the past. I’m not expecting much to come out of it, but such talks are a harmless way for them to get their quotient of looking tough in.

counter-terrorism….
=====
Does PB0 really think China wants to get involved so that those terrorists shift their attention to China???
The definition of counter-terrorism to the Chinese government is to suppress anti-government protests from the Muslim provinces.
Our Clueless Leader thought again he had out-smarted the China leaders.

Obama to Chinese leader: Please, please, please buy more of our debt.
Chinese leader: We will invade Taiwan soon.
Obama to Chinese leader: So this means you will buy more of our tremendous debt that I have created for the U.S.?
Chinese leader: I see we have a new Strategic Dialogue that we can announce.

The evidence that we are ruled by a corporatist oligarchy increases every day. This morning the news that the obama administration plans to hold the auto makers and their working class employees to a VERY different standard than the one they’ve been holding their millionaire pals in the finance industry to is starting to sink in.
So, obama is going to destroy the American car industry as we know it, by fiat, but leave the American financial industry racket unharmed? This is insane. I mean, I don’t love American cars (well, I did love my first F150 pick-up truck) but what the hell did GM or Ford ever do to me or any other American, aside from making crappy cars that no one wants to buy? I never woke up in the middle of the night terrified that the morons running Detroit would destroy the country’s economy. The issue for me is the blatant cronyism. Taxpayer dollars by the dumptruck-convoy-loads to keep his uber-rich political donors just as rich as they always were, and UNEMPLOYMENT, dislocation, and despair for the American auto workers, who only contributed a few measly bucks to his campaign.

The Financial Industry underwrote the elections of 2008 with $463 Million dollars in cold, hard cash. Way more than half of that money went to Obama and the Democrats.
Tell me, WHY do the increasingly schizophrenic voters and supporters of the Obama Movement insist that O’logo and his party will represent traditional Democratic values? In an oligarchy, the causes and principles for which true Democrats want representation, advocacy, and champions — workers’ rights, reproductive rights, equal rights — are worth only as much as the face value of the campaign contributions women, workers, and minorities can contribute. In 2008, our groups gave about $78 Million. Absolute chump change compared to the HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS from the corporatists.

While Congress has been flaying companies for giving out bonuses while on the government dole, lawmakers have a longstanding tradition of rewarding their own employees with extra cash — also courtesy of taxpayers, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Capitol Hill bonuses in 2008 were among the highest in years, according to LegiStorm, an organization that tracks payroll data. The average House aide earned 17 percent more in the fourth quarter of the year, when the bonuses were paid, than in previous quarters, according to the data. That was the highest jump in the eight years LegiStorm has compiled payroll information.”…..

Political Donations by Industry in 2008
The MONEY LOBBY: $463 MILLION
Commercial Banks: $35 Million
Accountants: $20 Million
*Hedge Funds: $17 MILLION
Accountants: $20 Million
Insurance Companies: $48 Million
**Lobbyists: $33 Million
Real Estate: $140 Million
Credit Card Companies: $7 Million
Venture Capital: $13 Million ($8 mil to dems, $5 mil to repubs)
Private Equity: $24 Million ($14 mil to dems)
The MIDDLE CLASS LOBBY: $78 MILLION
Reproductive Choice: $3 Million
Teachers’ Unions: $5 Million
Postal Union: $5 Million
Building Trade Unions: $17 Million
Indsustrial Unions: $13 Million
Other Unions: $8 Million
* Look at that number. Hedge funds, a TINY subset of the financial industry, spent 2/3 as much as ALL of the 14,000 commercial banks in the U.S. combined last year. That would be like if ALL religious groups gave $10 million, but then a tiny subset of fundamentalist sharia advocates gave an additional $7 million. Oh, and how did the $17 MILLION break down? Democrats got $12 Million and Republicans got $5 Million. Well, well, well.
** Of the $33 Million contributed by lobbyists, about $20 Million went to dems and $13 Million to repubs. So much for O’logo’s preposterous claim that he takes no money from lobbysists.
The Auto Industry contributed a paltry $2.5 Million last year — about evenly split between democrats and republicans. That’s nothing, really, in a year when obama raked in $750 Million.
Also of note, the pharmaceutical industry gave $28 Million in 2008, split evenly between the two parties. What effect do you think $28 Million will have on the chances of this president and this congress enacting universal health care?
