Hopefully, he reminded the CIA that the President is the Commander-in-Chief. He is the boss. I don’t agree with everything he’s done-especially re: wiretaps and state secrets and corporate bailouts. Yet, Repubs will always attack him as being weak. I have a suggestion. He needs to “step” on them-vigorously. Repub hypocrites and dishonest demagogues respect only one thing-power. The Constitution did not defeat Imperial Japan or Nazi Germany-free men willing to use massive force did.
Ironically, the President turned to military force to get himself out of his first hostage situation.
I’m sure he prefers not interrupting the sleep cycles of pirates to killing them, but it got the job done.

Interesting, they are afraid these methods will be used against them, but had no problem using them, themselves. Thank you Mr. President for shining light on a dark practice and stopping it. How can we hold ourselves as the model for the rest of the world when what happened sounds more like a report out of Iran, Iraq, or any of the other countries the Repubs gripe about our President reaching out to! Good job Mr. President!

The media is trying to use negative psychological marketing on the American public by describing the tea parties in a vulgar way. Of course they know that most of the American public do not understand the term, tea ba??ing, so they have to describe what it is as well. Once they describe the vulgar act, they hope this vulgarity resonates and is now associated with the tea b?? parties in our minds. The result is supposed to be an a filthy, negative view of the tea parties. Good try media – you only embarrassed yourself.
Jake – you look like you’re about done with reporting on this clown administration. Are you done being associated with this juvenile and embarrassing media of our generation yet? Maybe you can start a new trend – objective unbiased reporting and have the lambs follow when your ratings go up — people are desperately wanting reporting with integrity. You’re almost there!!!

I guess this is a good thing. It certainly shows America in all her openess and acceptance. If Obama was applying for a basic government security clearance he wouldn’t pass (with the history of his writings, his foreign travels, his suspect birth, his multiple passports, his use of different monikers depending on the decade, his associates, his mentors, his preacher, his parent(s), his imprisoned/accused/indicted fundraisers&friends, his foreign campaigning in Kenya, his “cousin” Odinga, and so on….). And there is almost zero chance of Obama working at the CIA- much less get inside the building!

Cheney is right. Let’s disclose the information obtained from those sessions and let American decide if it was the right thing to do.
It’s nice that we’ve informed Al Qaeda of our exact interrogation methods and just how far we’ll go.
Now at least they can be fully prepared.
But Jake, I’ll bet you still can’t get a look at the list of waivers.

drjohn: let me see if I can simplify this for you so that you can understand it. You have asked when is Obama going to be concerned about how our troops have been treated by the Taliban (you are implying, of course, that he is not concerned). I said that the president has already ordered some troops to be re-deployed to Afghanistan. I would think most people would understand that such a move recognizes the increased threat that the Taliban poses for Americans. After all, they are not being sent there for R and R, are they? So, no, I did not say 1) that our troops have not been abused by the Taliban, or 2) that there are no longer any troops in Iraq, or 3) that there are no Taliban in Afghanistan. Hope that is stated as clearly and simply for you to understand.

This was another media dog and pony show. We will likely find out it was as staged as the military photo op with soldiers photographing and hugging Obama. Only Obama supporters were allowed in and then they handed them cameras and instructed them to hold the cameras up to photograph Obama. Great FAKE photo op.
Leon Panetta, Clinton crony, Obama CIA director, did not want these documents released. This photo op does not change the damage Obama does ias he periodically resuscitates this discussion when he needs to rally a distraction.
He does not release the documents in full context so that we may evaluate the actions properly.
He also is under the misimpression that his high and mighty approach will protect our soldiers….give me a break.
Insects are considered decor and sustenance in their prisons.
Beheadings??? Do you think that those that have a history of this activity, photographing it for publicity, long before Bush was in office, give a flying rats behind about about Obama’s posturing when they take our soldiers into their “custody”.
Female soldiers are routinely sexually assaulted. The list of real torture and degradation is endless.
But heaven forbid that we frighten or slap mass murderers in order to gain intelligence on the plots in the planning stage.
Nothing Obama does is calculated for the best interests of the US. His only concern is that HE benefits.
