U.S. and U.K. First Ladies Visit Cancer Center
ABC News’ Yunji de Nies reports: First lady Michelle Obama and her British counterpart Sarah Brown spent the morning at Maggie’s Center, a facility for cancer patients in central London. The two women visited with cancer patients, who told them how the center had helped them through the difficulties of the disease. Maggie’s Center is a place where cancer patients and their families can gather to receive support, comfort and practical advice. Sarah Brown is the Patron of Maggies and opened this center last April. More than 12,000 people have received care there since then. Obama and Brown also stopped in on the Look Good, Feel Better program, a beauty parlor/makeup session with two female patients. Michelle Obama talked about her own "wonderful" makeup artist and said that she [the artist] volunteers for a similar program in the U.S. Some of the center’s staff asked the first lady about the new White House garden. She explained the layout and added that the first family will also be keeping bees. One woman acted surprised, to which the first lady laughed, "We have a big lawn." Mrs. Obama was dressed in a green pencil skirt, cream sparkly cardigan, both J.Crew, along with animal print high heels, a double strand of pearls and large diamond earrings. Mrs. Brown wore a Britt Lintner navy blue dress, Astley Clark jewelry and Russell & Bromley shoes. Mrs. Brown poured tea. When asked if Mrs. Obama drinks tea, she smiled and said, "I do. I will." "This is pretty amazing. It’s an oasis. An oasis that is necessary for people who are struggling," Mrs. Obama told the center’s staff over a cup of steaming tea."It’s a quiet place that makes people feel whole." As word of the visit spread outside, a large crowd gathered along the hospital gate. As she left, Michelle Obama waved at the crowd and cameras, and flashed a quick thumbs up. Later today, the first lady will attend a number of teas, which are closed to the press. She will change clothes before her visit with the queen. She will be giving gifts throughout — no word on what she’s picked out for the queen.

Obama Avoids Questions on Contraception Rule
What a great impression Michelle Obama makes…she is warm and at ease in all situations and is beautiful–inside and out. I am proud to have her as our First Lady to spread goodwill on these foreign trips.

“a double strand of pearls and large diamond earrings.”
Uh … AND “a sparkly cardigan”? Saints preserve us.

Love the cause…hate the outfit. She either does really well or bombs in her fashion choices. There’s no in between. It’s weird, as if 2 completeley different people help dress her.

It’s very clinical in color…inspired by scrubs, perhaps. And a woobie. I dig it.

I like the originality Michelle shows in her wardrobe. Why do so many insist on dressing exactly like everyone else? Where is the fun in that? Clothes should be fun and look good on your body type.

What an image for the US of A. The
dress is too small for her and if
you know class, you don’t wear
sequins during the day. And, the “large” diamond earrings, really
should be a hit in these economic
times. Funny, she had no jewelry
before the White House….hummmmm

Lydia: Yeah, she sure has originality
alright. Why couldn’t she have worn something a little more..whisper: conservative. Like a dark suit..to look like a president’s wife

Maybe I am missing something here but personally to me Michelle Obama’s fashions shouldn’t really matter .I think her visit to spread goodwill is admirable!I think Michelle has made The United States look good with her efforts and I am proud to have her represent us as The First Lady.I am sure her smile warmed and brightened the lives of the patients she met.

What transparent political opportunism and phoniness.
The Obama’s are a incapable of showing any class or passing up a PR opportunity.
The holy couple is even more embarrasing than the frat boy that just left office.

I think it’s a beautifully sweet & comforting and appropriate outfit to wear to a cancer care center. A little sunshine.
BTW. Michelle was asked, “Do you do tea?”, which makes her reply all the more charming.

It’s so sad to see some vicious comments about this lady. The ones which have posted very rude and nasty comments are the losers who have nothing significant in their lives. Probably don’t know fashion if it hits their face. If Queen found her amusing, then other pathetic mortals have nothing to complain.
