Stuart, guess what? You also don’t see them buying new cars.
The appetite of most Americans, I believe have changed. People are now admitting they no longer require new cars as long as the old one can be repaired. This is good. Why go into debt to buy a car when the old one still functions (takes you to where you want to go)?

When the average person has to go to Welfare and beg for money or foodstamps and gets them, you don’t see them fly away from their interview in a Lear jet. You certainly won’t see them return and tell the State that the amount is insufficient and that they need a higher allotment because they aren’t quite over their addiction(s) or bad habits that got them in that desparate place to begin with.

The problem with the car companies is that they have spread themselves thin. It used to be that when you heard the name Cadillac it meant a luxury car—now it can be a truck or high powered SUV as well. The same is true with Lincoln Continental and Chrysler. It seems to me that they’re trying to make each brand within the company compete with one another. To me that doesn’t make good sense.
Why should Cadillac be in competition with a Chevrolet truck? The companies need to reorganize and simplify.
Of course it doesn’t help the situation when HOAs tell homeowners they can park their Escalade in the driveway, but they’d better be sure their Ford truck is kept in the garage (out of sight) so the neighborhood doesn’t look “junky.” Please!

Toyota spent a billion developing the Prius technologies. During the same time, GM spent a billion marketing the Hummer line, saying the hybrid was only for tree-huggers. Now GM wants a billion to develop hybrids and an attempt to catch up AND they want to do it based on the Volt – a car that they plan to market at twice the price of a Prius. We need to get real on this bunch of big-for-nothing clowns.

The “fix” for GM is for people to NOT buy their cars until and unless Obama goes away and lets them go into Chapter 11. If you want a hybrid, buy a Ford or a Prius, at least for now.

Hey, I like this guy….what a refreshing piece of news! We don’t have to rely on the federal government to build cars…..now keep your eyes on them for the next really big show…..and tell them to stay out of our schools……that’s the province of local voters, not Washingtownians and Chicagoans…………I think we are all tiring of having this crap shoved down our thoats. Good going, Mr. GM…I may buy one!!!!!!
