UMMMM Not so fast..You got some explain’in to do…As an American citizen, I have the basic human right to know who is lying and who is not in my government…I want my transparency..

The lesson as always (acc. to Ryan) : Rightwingers lie. Pelosi is lying. Therefore she is a rightwinger.

Pelosi is an i.diot. Its pretty scary that she is 3rd in line to the Presidency. She (and Obama) need to get over their obsession with the past administration and concentrate on whats going on now.

I pray every night for Obama’s good health. Biden and Pelosi, 2nd and 3rd in line… How did this happen again?

The ball is in the CIA,s court.
They gave their side of the story ,i.e. the information about the EIT briefings ,namely who was told what etc.
So ,everyone just believes a bunch of career liars (the CIA) with no proof?
THEY should be the ones to have to prove they told her about waterboarding.
Why should she be forced to defend herself against the CIA’s undocumented claims?

This is no different than if me or you accused anyone of anything without proof ,it would go nowhere in court ,because there is no proof the CIA ever did brief her about waterboarding ,just that they SAY they did.
Which is of course totally ridiculous and absurd, just like the morons (almost 100% Republicans ,or “moderates” who are pseudo-Republicans as well) who stay fixated to such menial drivel.

Wow, I really guess their credibility has soared for some reason recently. Personally , I don’t (and have never) believed a public utterance/word/statement that comes from the CIA , and I would recommend you do likewise.

The reporter who put the words in Pelosi’s mouth last week during the press conference, for some strange reason, was never identified after all of the controversy ensued. It’s just an observation of another elephant in the living room, as the figure of speech goes. Anyway, if you watched the video, Pelosi wasn’t actually “combative,” but then that’s a pejorative that’s been used or implied far more than once around here. When the reporter baited her with the question of the CIA lying to her, Pelosi’s response was , “Yes, I was mislead…” She then proceeded to use the softened, mislead. But the yes response was enough for the McCarthy emulating GOP and elements of the media to jump on their bandwagon with. It’s been a shameless sham, perpetuated by some members of the media and the GOP, to try and bring down a Democratic Speaker of the House, who also just happened to be advocating a torture commission. Joseph McCarthy would be proud. Good Day.

Ive worked with folks in the CIA. They are people, just like you, trying to do a job. Same as our military. The fact that you automatically discount their credibility because they are in the CIA says more about you than them.

What does lie mean?
=Something meant to deceive or give a wrong impression.

About the House vote not to investigate:
Either the CIA’s lying, and Democrats don’t care that our intelligence bureau is corrupt or…
Pelosi’s lying, and Democrats don’t care about the CIA being maligned by the Speaker of the House.

The CIA is composed of many people doing many things , some completely unrelated to spying/lying but the agency itself IS A PROFESSIONAL LIE/SCHEME/BACK-STAB FACTORY ,IT’S WHAT THEY DO.
Say whatever you like about Pelosi,but I personally haven’t seen even one tiny speck of evidence from the CIA to support their side of the story , so using history as well as the CIA’s own implicit agenda as my guide , I would have to conclude that they are probably lying (for whatever reason that might be) .

Actually of course Pelosi’s statement today means that she is unwilling to back up her claims. She wants to just do her “job, the Congress part (thing)”. That is she wants to keep her chair before her fellow Dems consider her a liability and dump her. So it is all about her. If it were not all about her she would take whatever consequences for the sake of the country. Obama, Panetta, Reid agree.
The question is, WHO are you on the left to complain if your Hope and Change leadership are moving on???

CIA is funded with oversight by the congress and the administration. If the CIA does something, its bought and paid for by politicians. So if there are lies involved, you can bet it originates from politicians.

Basically, the Republicans are walking a real thin line on this one, the last thing they would want is an actual investigation because it would backfire badly. As it already is, CNN had an interview where Boehner was challenged on the Republican Pete Hoekstra stating the CIA had lied about the downing of plane that killed a missionary and her daughter over Peru several years back. I’m afraid those of us hoping for an investigation into Pelosi’s assertions are going to be dispointed, because the GOP strategists , with the assistance of some willing media outlets like ABC, are going to keep up the attacks on Pelosi to undermine her, while not actually pressing proactively for the badly needed investigation.

It is disputed what she leared and when. A number of credible individuals have challenged the veracity and accuracy of the CIA, from Pete Hoekstra, a Republican, to Sen. Graham who was briefed around the time Pelosi was. Even Panetta has stated to the effect that some CIA records are made after the fact and memory dependent. But by far, the biggest hypocrisy is that those who like to accuse Pelosi of lying also advocate torture. That’s a distorted value system, to say the least.

Some quarters? Both Pelosi (Democrat) and Hoekstra (Repulbican) have publicly and bluntly accused the CIA of lying and misleading Congress within the last 12 months.

This story is clear evidence that the corporate press cannot be trusted to tell the truth. Oh, eventually they’ll fess up and note that the republicans were playing semantics, but that’ll be long after it really matters.
How many times does this have to happen? If it happened once or twice, fine, they made a mistake and didn’t do their homework. When it happens over and over again, when it becomes a pattern of practice, it is clear that the media has an agenda.

Look up Eric “Mancow” Mueller who thought it was not and kind of joke. The radio host had himself water boarded for kicks. He’s not laughing anymore…..

Pelosi has already requested copies of the briefings in dispute. For that matter, Newt Gingrich or Boehner could stop roaring like paper lions and initiate an investigation themselves. I think we both agree that the Pelosi and the issues should be addressed to the point of investigation. Sorry, Flash, but it is NOT clear to everyone, including the press, that Nancy Pelosi was right. In fact, it seems clear to many if not most of us that she was lying through her teeth and tried to smear the CIA to cover her lie. This “press conference” was as farcical as her last attempt to put the matter behind her, last week’s press conference with the shuffling of papers and reading of prepared statements.
She does seem to have learned a thing or two from the Chosen One, however. First, attempt to divert people from the subject they want to talk about to the subject you want to talk about. Second, insist you want to move forward (when you get in a mess by looking backward and trying continually to trash the previous administration) and label everything that makes you look bad a “distraction.”

Keep in mind that the only thing she’s disputing is whether she learned about waterboarding in September, 2002 or five months later in May, 2003. There is no dispute at all that whichever date she learned about it, she did and said nothing whatsoever to even question it, let alone stop it. By the same token, when given a secret briefing in 2004 on a covert operation she didn’t like, she brought it to a screeching halt.
She was in favor of waterboarding, as were the other Democrats, until they sensed that there was a political opportunity in being opposed to it.
No wonder she wants to move on. If there was a criminal conspiracy (actually, there wasn’t), she was part and parcel of it.

The republicans are playing right into the Obama administration’s hands — and Pelosi’s. Look how the republicans NOW demand transparency. Get ‘em Obama! Get ‘em Pelosi! We will expose the illegal torture policies of the Bush/Cheney regime.
I can’t wait til the republicans start calling for Bush and Cheney to be tried for torture. This is so easy!

If Obama is backing Pelosi we have hit a new low as a nation. He needs to distance himself from her and get her out (preferably by monday).
