Ridge Poses Threat to Specter

Tom Ridge would be a good replacement for Arlen Specter. Or Pat Toomey. Either way it would be good for us – Pennsylvanians and Americans – if Specter is defeated.

Chuck keep dreaming.
Specter has done more for PA than anyone I know. You do not just change because some Right Wing nuts think so.
Ridge knows it and will not risk being disgraced.
Specter will win hands down in 2010.

All Specter needs to do is trot out some of the decisions Mr. Ridge made while in Homeland Security. Talk about a questionable agenda…

It is time for Specter to be put out to pasture……”change” isn’t that Obama wants.

I think Spector has done the voters in his State a great injustist, when he switched his party before his term was up. People I know for a fact voted for him because he was a republican, also at age 79, I think life long terms as Senator should be over! I hope he looses!

Hope Ridge crushes him, but I don’t have alot of faith in Penn., considering they keep electing crooks like Rep Murtha.( I realize that is only one district and every state has their crook or flake, but jeesh)
The Republican need Ridge in the Senate.
He would do more for them than Specter ever would for the Democrats there.
But then, Penn. may not get as many goodies.

Greed and Our Failing Economy. OK here is the real story why our Financial Institutions are failing. In one word it is called Greed. It is so bad that it is built into our Capitol System. You had everybody in the housing market making big bucks, big commissions and escrow loan and paperwork fees, etc, on getting people into buying overpriced homes they could not afford as long they all got their big commissions, Closing costs, Loan and escrow and paperwork fees etc. on top of national credit card debt and the price of gasoline, the war, offloading of American jobs, overpaid and over compensated and crooked Bernie Madoff type CEOs, inside trading, no FCC wall street regulation and a host of other problems brought on by Greed. Who is going repay and bail out all the people that lost their 401k retirement savings while the Democrats and the Republicans sit and blame each other? at least the Feds should give us a tax break against our 401k loses when we withdraw our money from these 401K Retirement Funds. Tom Ridge is a moderate Republican who is pro-choice. The conservatives in the Republican Party who will have voted against Specter in next year’s Republican primary and forced Specter to change party will also ensure that Tom Ridge will not have a chance to face Specter in the 2010 election.

what I’ve learned is that neoconservative policy results in only two things:
1. civil unrest
2. deficits
I don’t even think it is funny that GOP members and followers chose current times to begin discussing term limits and balanced budgets. OK, I change my mind, It is indeed laughable.
What would be best for the GOP membership would be for them to get together and admit to how destructive the policies and causes that they have championed have been to their party, country and fellow humans.
It is just sad to see so many people grouped together around nonsense wrapped in idiocy to hide lies.

The continued alarming news out of Washington should make every man and woman to come to the aid of their country.
Tom Ridge is a person who took on the biggest task of defending the American people from enemies here on American soil and abroad. This wasn’t a drill test–IT WAS A REAL TEST-
Tom Ridge was the man who took on the bureaucrats and the terrorists and managed to keep America safe.
Tom Ridge is the man of the hour!
Tom Ridge–YOUR TALENTS–YOUR KNOWLEDGE–ARE ONCE AGAIN NEEDED!

It is all about balance of power // too much to the right is bad and too much to the left is bad too. Leaning to much either way is just an opening for Facism. I believe that is time for CHANGE I mean REAL change.Congress should have a term limit , 2 terms and you’re out. These people go to Washington to make a change and turns out that Washiungton changes them. Many of them are felons and we need to clear the House and the Senate for the sake of our country period.

Arlen Specter should just take his 30 pieces of silver and crawl in a hole. If I had donated any money for electing him as a Republican, I would be suing him in a civil court to get it back.

Tom ridge?! You’ve got to be kidding!!!!!!!!!

Now THATS an interesting idea – have Ridge, who was a key member of the Administration that drove Pennslyvania into economic disaster, represent that state in the Senate. If he is the best the GOP has to offer then I think they may as fold up and retire on their trust funds.

Tom Ridge or no Tom Ridge. I certainly would like someone different than Arlen Specter. There should be term limits to congress, senate, supreme court and leadership positions in government. It is high time for a change. People should alternate between the private sector and the public sector and get some new skills stay uptodate on what is happening in the real world and how the appropriated monies and new laws passed are affecting we the people. Instead it is same old same old stagnant Washington and only the President changes and sometimes if a bad one comes along he stays for 8 years. While the real world on main street live a life of constant challenges and insecurities. Washington is a place where congress, the justices and government workers are in a comfort zone of their own paid for by the struggling and uncomfortable tax payers. People think that there is a choice between the Democratic party which according to James Carville will dominate until 2048 and the Republican party which got the US into long and costly wars and a recession and unemployment. Both are big on spending and both are for continuing wars. Okay they are trying to bring the Iraq war to a close after almost a decade and they are escalating the Afghanistan war with the hope of a military victory that has alluded every military power since Alexander. So basically it is dweedledum and dwidledoo alternating in congress and the white house and we the tax paying people are stuck with the deficit. So what I am saying is Specter had his sunny days. He has made a good pile of money, now he can enjoy his retirement and let someone different stepin.

There should be anti-defection law to prevent people just like that switching party. People voted for Specter and he should resign his senator post

The only benefit I see that Tom Ridge have on Specter is the age difference. Ridge have too nuch baggage, when he tried to handled Homeland Security. Most his handling put a sour taste in peoples mouths and they don’t foget that easy.

I wouldn’t bet on any republican winning in PA. Arlen Specter made the right move. Arlen would have more than likely lost against a democrat if he had not changed over. Republicans are being removed as fast as the election process will allow.
Posted by: rightbehind | May 4, 2009, 7:32 pm 7:32 pm
If ridge could get nominated by republicans, specter would not have had to leave. It’s very important that all us democrats make sure that specter keeps that seat and does well for his re election bid ;-)

Specter turns so quickly that even the Dems don’t trust him. I am one to think that Specter will vote against Obama’s future spending plans. After all the hatred coming from Murtha and the other PA Dems, Ridge would be a pleasant change.

Right on folks. I saw what Ridge did for PA. He touted keeping the state in the black while the roads crumbled and the infrastructure fell apart. He’s a useless lieing troll….. whatever happened to him having to work in the private sector to make enough money to take care of his family?…. just another lie I guess but it’s apparent the only people republicans take to task for lieing is the other side.

so then you agree that Richard Shelby and Ben Nelson should resign their seats also?

What happened to Pat Toomey? Have the Republicans in PA turned their back on him now too for the so thought greener pastures of Tom Ridge? I guess your pasture burned pretty quick eh Pat?
Republicans would cut the throat of their own Mother if they thought they could benefit from it politically.
Posted by: dk | May 5, 2009, 5:15 am 5:15 am
Highly doubtful, Arlen’s got it wrapped up. The voters have had enough republican ideology.
Posted by: rightbehind | May 5, 2009, 6:28 am 6:28 am
Tom Ridge would win hands down –that is if Specter is still alive at primary time.
Specter has been useless to PA his entire life—time to either retire and stop being a thorn in the side of PA or hurry up and die.

have we forgotten Mr. Ridge’s actions at Homeland Security – his false warnings — the funds he spent on same. He was a really bad dir of HS – No way for sentator. He won’t run anyway. Too much baggage!

Tom Ridge will make a great Senator and I hopes he runs in 2010. He’d very easily beat Senator Spector by at least 10% points. He’s the kind of moderate Republican we need to make sure the Obama Administration doesn’t go overboard and also, to point the way for a resurgence of the Republican ‘brand’. President Clinton had Newt Gingrich to help shape his policy and we got welfare reform and NAFTA. Perhaps Obama could rely on Ridge for pragmatic solutions to our current problems.

Spector = another samless east coast pol thta would do anything to stay in power. Seems funny thta the dems complain about that and want change unless it is one of their candidates. the party of double standards and no standards once again is showing it’s true color.

Arlen Spector is the political equivalent of a chameleon. He changes with the wind. He has no basis to exist in any principle based thought provoking environment. The sooner her is out of office the better.
Obama is another one, willing to say anything and appeal to everyone to get elected. Not principled and he’ll go in 4 years.

Spector needs to retire!! He’s 79 years old for godness sake!! A HUGE part of the problem in Washington is too many of the lawmakers are ancient, have been there forever, are power hungry, out of touch with the mainstream, and don’t want to leave their fat cat lifestyles. Bring on the term limits!! When he’s considered too old for the rest of the workforce he shoudln’t be in Congress. He should take Robert Byrd and all the rest of the ancient and adilpated with him!!

Everyone knows why Spector changed….he wants to win his election. Tom Ridge may not get the republican backing as he is pro choice and everyone knows what that does to the republican party. If Spector really changed to the Democratic party, he would not have said he hoped the Al Frankin would lose the election. He forgets what tribe he belongs to now so this statement makes it clear he is a democrate for his own purposes only. I think he should return to the republican party…he will not give the votes the party needs anyway and I don’t think they should campaign for him after making that statement.
