Selling the Stimulus — to Federal Workers?
ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: It’s the latest “shovel-ready” solution. The federal government is now advertising the stimulus package to . . . federal workers. It’s part an interesting ad campaign that’s been launched in Washington. The ads include three small, identical billboards inside Union Station, a major commuter hub just a few blocks from the Capitol. “Let’s Make Progress TOGETHER,” the ads state, with text bannered over a picture of hands touching an American flag. In the bottom right of the ad is the distinctive circular logo for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act — better known as the stimulus package. The ads tout “GSA Acquisition Solutions . . . ‘Shovel-Ready.’ ” The ads are sharing wall space with ads for Carnival Cruise Lines, near one of the Metro entrances at Union Station. What’s going on? Why would the federal government need to be advertising the stimulus to its own workers? The ad was placed by the US General Services Administration, a lesser-known federal agency that essentially exists to provide support for other federal agencies. According to a GSA spokesman, the ad is paid for out of GSA’s regular advertising budget — not stimulus dollars. ABC News asked for more details on how much is being spent on the ads, and how extensive the ad campaign is; we’ll update this post when we get more information. The ad touts a Website, gsa.gov/recoverysolutions, which provides information about a suite of GSA services available to federal workers who are working on stimulus contracts for their agencies. Michael Robertson, a GSA spokesman, said the ads are designed to encourage government workers to make purchases through GSA-negotiated price schedules. Everything from office supplies to computer support and custodial services can be cheaper through GSA, he said. “The government agencies are GSA’s clients,” he said. “We compete with the rest of the market to provide services to the government agencies.” As for how ads at Metro stops fit with the GSA mission, Robertson said: “This is DC; most federal workers are here. You try and find the consumers where they live.”

Obama Avoids Questions on Contraception Rule
T.A.R.P. = Transparent. As a. Rock. Pile. Now, we see the “stimulus” is as stimulating as a really bad Ginsu Knife commercial. This stuff will surely fix our over-priced, over-spent, over-burdened country.

I am unemployed. I lost my job of 23 years in Feb. 2009. I have been job hunting and I keep running into a situation that is just crazy and I was wondering if any of you are having the same problem.
I have a college degree in graphic design, 23 years experience in advertising. I went on a job interview the other day where they not only wanted a Graphic Artist with the experience I have but they wanted a customer service person and a bindery person… Yes, they wanted me to all three… No problem tell it came to what they wanted to pay me. They offered me $25,000 to $26,000 a year… WHAT!
Our Government and unemployment offices with their advertising MULTI-TASK on your job to keep it or be willing to be hired as a multi-tasker in order to get a job IS TOTALLY INSANE!
Now, we not only DON’T get benefits but they want us to work our BU**s off for a whole lot of nothing.
Kids right out of college make more than that.
They need to stop… this companies have lost their minds… I am truly thinking of leaving the US in fond hopes of being treated like a human again and not a donkey!!

Our Government Bureaucracy = Non Producers- paper pushers. That’s what this country needs more non producing people on the public tab. As in tax payers are footing the bill to employ their neighbors in “Make Work” Spain had a program back in the day, one person would dig the whole the other person would fill it in the government gave them a paycheck….insane waste of time? Not if you are bureaucrat, who couldn’t solve a problem with the almighty supervising them :)

“Insight”, get used to it. It will only get worse. I had TONS of experience and awards and ability as an art director, writer and creative director at major ad agencies across the nation, but once I turned 50 I might as well have died. NO ONE will even talk to you, much less hire you-except Wal-Mart. Take the $26,000 and freelance on the side.

I can’t think of a more fitting slogan for the Obama administration than, “shovel-ready”.

The problem is that the government keeps bailing out fat cats and not the average citizen. The stimulus will only help in the short term. We need to become a productive society but both Republicans and Democrats have shipped our jobs overseas and now we make squat. You can’t keep printing money from thin air.

We’ll all be government workers before long. Central planners never stop with just one industry. That’s because it’s all about power under the guise of enforced “fairness”. The central planners might be able to fool most of the publicly educated (central planners would call public education a “success” due to this), but they can’t fool all of us.

That poor flag in the GSA propaganda image looks like it’s caught in a riot of grasping hands.
Are these hands going to shred and render it or torch it?
This unintended imagery seems apropos for what the democrats are doing to the country.
