Give Obama a break on this. After all, he inherited Air Force One from Bush, didn’t he? Let’s move on…

Posted by: Fascist Hyena | May 8, 2009, 8:36 pm 8:36 pm

Yeah, I believe Obama was “infuriated” (nicely acted by Charlie) as much as I believe he was “outraged” at the AIG bonuses. Mmm, not so much.
Caldera could not offer an explanation without contradicting the meme that the White House did not know anything about the “Glamour Shots”. So his hands and his tongue were effectively tied.

Posted by: Mongo | May 8, 2009, 9:07 pm 9:07 pm

This seems like such an overreaction. I mean, as several Obama apologists have said it’s time for New York to get over it and quit whining about 9/11.
Yes, people have actually said that.

“…that the White House did not know anything about the “Glamour Shots”…”
Glamor shots of what? Air Force One?

Posted by: Skip | May 8, 2009, 9:23 pm 9:23 pm

I don’t think Caldera should have lost his job. But I do think we should have the real facts about this incident. We paid for this plane and the trip, it is not the Presidents toy. I would like to know who was on that trip.

Posted by: Tia | May 8, 2009, 9:24 pm 9:24 pm

Jake, I want to know who was on that plane. We need answers. I am not buying it was a photo op. Did anyone think of asking this administration, being so environmentally conscious and all, why be so wasteful when he insists we all cut back on our energy use?
The photo released was taken from a higher altitude than the raw video shot showed. It was flying very low and that is what caused the panic in the streets, understandably.

ok which dude is going to be my scapegoat..Obama as he hides under the desk

Blame rests at the top…or does that only apply if W was the one at the top.

Posted by: a better world | May 8, 2009, 10:10 pm 10:10 pm

Where is the website we can go to in order to see how much tax payer money is being spent on photo ops?

Posted by: a better world | May 8, 2009, 10:14 pm 10:14 pm

wow, how does the Obama bus move at all ? There is getting to be a damn big pile of bodies that have been tossed under that thing.

Posted by: Mike_C | May 8, 2009, 10:57 pm 10:57 pm

I’m still waiting on Tapper, or some other enterprising journalist, to make the connection between this photo op and the Alabama Air National Guard. Red Tails. Coming to a theater near you. Fall 09.

Posted by: Axey | May 8, 2009, 10:57 pm 10:57 pm

Poor Pb0. How would our Greatest Smartest Clueless Leader knew someone was flying his UFO (Utopian Force One) over NYC?!
He did not have his teleprompter with him.

“Glamor shots of what? Air Force One?”
Skippy, you didn’t watch TapTap’s clip, did you.
Obama is having a plaque made for his desk. It will say “The bus stops here – so watch yourself.”
And, I’d like to play the movie game. “Red Tails” directed by Anthony Hemingway starring Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Method Man as “Sticks”.

Mike_C:”wow, how does the Obama bus move at all ? There is getting to be a damn big pile of bodies that have been tossed under that thing.”
After 8 years of Republican rule I guess you may not quite understand what accountability looks like anymore.

“Skippy, you didn’t watch TapTap’s clip, did you.”
Yes I did. But I just routinely dismissed a stereotypical Republican senator’s attempt to either falsely characterize the photos or unconsciously express some kind of weird fetish for fat jets.

“After 8 years of Republican rule I guess you may not quite understand what accountability looks like anymore. ”
It looks like Bill Clinton’s pardons.

This guy took the fall but there’s just no way Scare Force One moves without Obama knowing it.
Not a chance.

Posted by: drjohn | May 9, 2009, 7:36 am 7:36 am

Where are the rest of the photos and WHO WAS ONBOARD. They don’t call it AIR FORCE ONE unless OBAMA was onboard!!
Also the Chicago thug/mafia style whitehouse has bullied and threatened all the Chrysler investors into giving up their right to a court directed bankruptcy.
Obama has confiscated GM and Chrysler and handed them over to their Union buddies for campaign cash and votes…..and there is no media outrage.
In trying to balance their budget before they are completely broke California congress cut the salary of some union workers, members of SEIU. Those folks are lucky Obama is in the whitehouse, because he told California that NO STIMULUS MONEY FOR YOU if you cut salaries of union workers.
This is the most dangerous, openly corrupt President EVER and the media is silent.

It’s a cover-up, plain and simple. They’re hiding something, that’s for sure, and the question is: what is it?
Sunlight is the best disinfectant. Let’s see everythig. The people deserve honest, transparent government.

May 9:
“The Air Force One photo shoot over New York City last month, with the presidential aircraft buzzing lower Manhattan at 1,000 feet as terrified workers were fleeing office buildings, was a convergence of gaffes missed e-mails and phone calls, doses of pain pills, early departures from the office, and hallway ‘asides’ that went nowhere.”
Jeez–and here I thought yesterday was supposed to be the final day for this story.

hmmmmmmmmmmm….Drugs in the white house?

Posted by: How am I doing now Comrades | May 9, 2009, 10:35 am 10:35 am

Axey, I haven’t seen the Red Tails connection confirmed on the glamour shot issue. If true, it only compounds the problem for the WH, as it would mean they launched a fighter all the way from Alabama, where the Tuskeegee unit is based, to New York.
If true, I can see the logic behind having the storied unit’s plane flying excort on Air Force One for the first black president, but as we all know there were cheaper alternatives.
I’m not sure why there was a civilian running the White House military office.

“If true, I can see the logic behind having the storied unit’s plane flying excort on Air Force One for the first black president, but as we all know there were cheaper alternatives.”
And, Obama wasn’t on board, so it would be symbolically meaningless to have the red tails along for the ride.
But, it would make a stunning end to a movie about the Tuskegee Airmen.
The “Red Tails” escorting Air Force One carrying the first black (mixed race) President as they fly by The Statue of Liberty. I can almost hear the gospel music swelling to a crescendo. It’s a powerful image.

One poor photo with canopy glare? Or a psychological operation conducted by the Pentagon without the President’s knowledge, coinciding with this:

Posted by: 4thestate | May 9, 2009, 11:59 am 11:59 am

Air Farce One is still under-reported. WHO was on the plane (full passenger list)? Was is a JOY ride? WHY was that photograph so AWFUL? WHO was that photographer? Did he take only ONE shot? If not, are we to believe that was his BEST shot? EVERYBODY, but the news media KNOWS that 90% of the story is still not reported. Have the media rolled over on this one? Guess so.

I think I figured it out.. this was a practice flyover.. they were going to tie a NYC mayoral election banner on the back of ScareForceOne .. something to the effect of: NO Third Term Mayor!!

Posted by: DontGet818OnMeNow | May 9, 2009, 3:38 pm 3:38 pm

Jake, why don’t you ask the White House why the released photo was edited with Photoshop?
Maybe ask if they might release the original, the one that includes EXIF metadata which would indicate what type of camera was used.
It’s pretty obvious this photo was not taken by a professional photographer. Canopy reflection, part of fuselage in frame, sun glint over “United”, hideous composition.
It’s likely the F-16 pilot’s souvenir taken with his $150 point-and-shoot.

Posted by: Molon Labe | May 9, 2009, 11:41 pm 11:41 pm

That the original photo as released by the White House has been photoshopped is evidenced by the presence of distinctive tags “JFIF”, “Ducky”, and “Adobe” in the file header. Google those tag names to see why they are a signature of Photoshop.
You can search around for a link to the actual photo at the White House web site. I don’t wanna post a link cause it may not get through.

No worries! The credit card companies are cheating the American consumers as we speak. This will more than cover the $328,000.00 flight. Change?

Has anyone from the MSM asked the Air Force (whichever office is responsible for coordinating support for movies and television) if they are aware of any requests for cooperation in connection with the Tuskegee film project, “Red Tails”?
I wonder if Will Smith was on board Air Force One(2) portraying Obama?

NYC Starts Charging Rent at Homeless Shelters
The policy stems from a 1997 state law that hasn’t been enforced until now. Under that law, shelter managers started to require families to pay a portion of their income, depending on the shelter and family size, according to The New York Times. Residents could be expected to pay up to half their earnings.
These PEOPLE HAVE NO HEALTH INSURANCE!!

How much money did the Scare Force One 100 day Victory Lap around Manhattan raise for Obama 2012 and the DNC?!?!

Posted by: I Have a Gift, Harry. | May 11, 2009, 3:46 pm 3:46 pm

Jake: Please find the passenger manifest and find the person who really authorized the flight. It wasn’t Mr. Caldera. He’s just the fall guy. Since he’s a fellow West Point grad, I guess USMA has changed its motto to “Duty, Honor, Obama.”
