White House Spokeswoman Carrie Prejean?
Yesterday we asked White House press secretary Robert Gibbs about Maine’s new same sex marriage law, to little avail. Gibbs reiterated President Obama’s support for civil unions, and deflected the issue as much as possible.
Writing at the Christian Science Monitor, former Bush White House spox Jimmy Orr wrote that if "Gibbs was wearing a swimsuit or a sparkly gown, you could say he looked like Miss California. As you recall, Carrie Prejean said she didn’t support gay marriage. And she said, albeit not as articulately as Gibbs, that it’s a states rights issue."
Orr notes that US News & World Report’s Robert Schlesinger recalls being asked at a same sex marriage "why Carrie Prejean, Miss California, gets lambasted for being anti-gay marriage, while Barack Obama, the president of the United States, gets a free pass while having essentially the same position. The answer lies in tone and nuance." And the fact that President Obama "advocates for the rights of gay couples on things like hospital visitation."
Sheryl Gay Stolberg in today’s New York Times notes that some gay activists are growing impatient with the president.
"We’ve elected probably the most pro-gay president in history; he’s very good on the issues but he is not good on gay marriage," said Steven Elmendorf, a gay Democratic lobbyist. "From the gay community’s perspective, he and a lot of other elected officials are wrong on this. My view is that over time, they’re going to realize they’re wrong and they’re going to change."
Asked gay rights activist David Mixner, on his blog, "How much longer do we give him the benefit of the doubt on LGBT issues and when do we speak strongly out? There has been no visible public movement on repealing ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ nor any action on repealing ‘DOMA’" — the defense of marriage act. "The president is against marriage equality although the recent Washington Post poll showed that now 49% of Americans support marriage and a huge majority in the Democratic Party supports marriage. In fact, there appears to be very little visibility of issues of concern to the LGBT community. When is the appropriate time to stop giving him the ‘benefit of the doubt’? It is a good question."
Former special assistant to President Clinton Richard Socarides wrote an op-ed The Washington Post headlined, "Where’s our fierce advocate?" in which he outlined an ambitious agenda for LGBT activists, including "comprehensive, omnibus federal gay civil rights legislation, similar to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, outlawing discrimination based on sexual orientation and granting a basic umbrella of protections in employment, education, housing and the like (rather than the existing piecemeal approach to legislation). Such a bill should also provide for federal recognition of both civil unions and marriages as they are authorized by specific states."

Ruh oh, Obama and Gibbs have finally woken the sleeping gay mafia/media.
Personally, I think we should do away with the marriage category on all government forms, use civil union (and disolved civil unioned = divorced) instead. Straight married and gay civil unioned can check the same box, equally. Leave marriage to churches but treat everyone equally on government forms. Any takers?

Obama gets away with this because the press is more interested in promoting it’s own agenda, which is to keep Obama’s approval numbers inflated, based on false imagery.
Gibbs response is laughable and that he did not get the same press as Prejean is proof of heavy bias no matter who is screwed in the process.
While we are at it.. Obama spoke out, it’s on video, against bombing afghan villages and killing civilians. The protests went on ad nauseum with Bush in office.
Now Obama is in charge and those air raids have continued….where are the hypocrisy claims? Where are the hard questions? Where is all the supposed outrage?
Dems stand for nothing but getting re-elected.
Obama just handed the auto companies to the Union leaders and the taxpayer investment, and other private retirement investors got screwed and forced to pay billions for Obama to keep buying unions and elections.

It’s so easy for these so-called activists to sit around and say what should be done than to actually be President and actually do it.
By the way, an advisor to Bill CLinton is in no position to be criticizing Obama on gay rights….did he advise Clinton to sign the Defense of Marriage Act?

The difference is a gay “celebrity” (and I use the term lightly) asked Miss USA the question in an attempt to embarrass her, then when on a rant against her that everyone viewed as news.
But….god forbid that same “celeb” or any other media ask BO any question in an attempt to embarrass him. They don’t like his answer so they won’t ask the question and hope he changes his mind.

It is became absolutely clear that the homosexuals want not a equal rights, they want to have special rights. They want society in large to provide complete accommodation to their lifestyle, the same way as society provides to the disable. If this what we need to do, than why not to provide accommodation to the pedophiles, most of them claim that they were born that way also.

it is Obama raping the wealth of the US. In just over three months he has already spent more than all other presidents combined. Money that will have to be borrowed, with interest!!!
All the dem outrage about the economy is now a joke when they sit on their hands as Obama absolutely destroys our economy in a manner that was unimaginable in any republican administration.
If he taxed all of his “class-warfare” rich at 100% it could not begin to pay for what he is spending and that is if he stops spending right now and doesn’t spend another dime for the rest of his term.
We know he has plans to send us further into debt and all the transparency on the spending is not going to happen until after the next election, by his own admission, if then. I WONDER WHY?
There is no why higher taxes will pay for all this and more so be prepared, he is coming for you too. Your class warfare is just the entry point.

We need leaders that will look at people like Maggie Gallagher and other Christian Extremest, and say; “Hey — you are divorced and disrespected God by remarrying. You are a hyprocite and you are living in sin!”
Or — “No offense, but, push yourself away from the dinner table, gloutney is a sin!”
The Christian Extremest are worst of the bunch; just like Miss Prejean; the little poke that posed in soft porno.
“No offense to anyone but…” is the new, kinder way to beat us down even more.
They are hyprocites and liers, these Christian Extremest, and, their intimidation tatics get worse every year.

But, I, Mongo, would be what you would call a religious right winger. I wouldn’t call myself that, but you would.
I believe that marriage is Sacred union between a man and a woman and belongs in the Church. I believe it is Holy and does not need to be sanctioned by the state. “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s.”
I am not a homophobe either, though you may call me that because I think it is against biology to try to procreate with the same sex. I think God made man and women’s parts to fit together sublimely. Being biological creatures sometimes things go wrong and to love “differently” due to nature or nurture can be accepted and beautiful but not preferred.
All these things I believe and yet, State by state, I agree with Hyena, I would not have any problem with religious marriages being co-registered as civil unions with the state for legal purposes. I also have no problem with gay and heterosexual civil unions registered with the state.
I would vote for civil unions to be used on all government forms.
We may come at this from different viewpoints and agendas but there is always room for common sense.

Either, judge and be judged or live and let live. You can’t have it both ways and have a sound argument.
No one is perfect, we can find a way to love and respect everyone.
Thankfully, our country was founded on Christian ethics and morals. Christianity is one of the few religions that, since Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation, continually evolves and adapts to progress. Which religion has the most LGBT leaders? Islam? I don’t think so.
For most Christians, the barbaric parts of the Bible are believed to be allegorical and the archaic parts are considered obsolete. That is why you are lucky that America was mostly founded by people of the Christian faith.

I am a very left, openly gay man who is currently living in Canada with my married same-sex partner. He is not an American so I cannot live in my own country. I am certainly not a Christian nor conservative. All of that said I really respect your opinion and I find myself agreeing that the state should get out of the business of marriage. Let the government issue a certificate of civil union for any couple wishing to marry and let churches santify, or refuse to sanctify, according to their respective values. It’s fair, sensible and it would finally put an end to this struggle.

Because they’re hypocrites just like most people. He’s got a “D” after his name AND he’s black, so he is beyond criticism by the gay sheeple of the left.
Prejean is white, which makes her fair game as a target, and the fact that she’s a woman makes her irresistable to attacks from gay men who are every bit the misogynists that their heterosexual counterparts are.
The only difference I see between Prejean and Obama is that she said what she meant, knowing it could hurt her — and he says what he thinks his audience at a given moment wants to hear so that he can get ahead.

maybe you all should worried about this, instead of the personal issues:
United States interrogators killed nearly four dozen detainees during or after their interrogations, according a report published by a human rights researcher based on a Human Rights First report and followup investigations.
In all, 98 detainees have died while in US hands. Thirty-four homicides have been identified, with at least eight detainees — and as many as 12 — having been tortured to death, according to a 2006 Human Rights First report that underwrites the researcher’s posting. The causes of 48 more deaths remain uncertain.

Couple of glaring problems:
Not all churches are against gay marriage so gay people will simply get their civil marriage license and go get married in a church that allows it.
The biggest problems is that a straight married couple like myself and thousands of others weren’t married in a church so suddenly we would be “banned” somehow from saying we are married. My marriage of 7 years is just over if I won’t go to a religious institution? What will I tell my children? Mommy and Daddy aren’t married anymore?
Stupid idea that would cause way more problems.

Ms. Prejean chose to live by her principles when it came time to answer that question, however, her principles fell flat when she lied and signed that contract. When it’s something she wants, her principles didn’t stand. I bet she is going to be batting for our side by the end of two years. Equality is inevitable and when the dust settles, the law will prevail. Posers are just creating money-making fear mongering. Offices are opening up on both sides of the debate. One thing I haven’t seen in this raging debate regarding gay marriage/civil unions, is the fact that since 1989, gay marriage or civil unions with full equal rights have existed in now more than 30 other nation/states. Surprisingly, not a single one of these nation/states have become less decadent than before recognition, nor have they fallen apart as the right wingers suggest would happen in the United States.

The idea of Gibbs in a bikini would make any reference to marriage an impossibility but I do have a prediction from that scary thought-I predict that the Gay Community is going to switch alliances to the Republican Party (California and the New England States become viable) and that the reason is the Obama Administration’s AIDS Awareness Campaign that was started as a response to the over 3 percent infection of AIDS-HIV in D.C. and the Black population being the hardest hit. What is this world coming to! Through out centuries of this earth’s existence it is not until the last 15-20 years that homosexuality started to become public. Do you think if this was a moral right way to live that it would have been a natural way of life from the beginning of the earth’s existence? Nature teaches us that men and women are meant to be together…not the same sex with the same sex. That is just like trying to make a law that it is OK to eat human flesh. It has never been acceptable to do so but if people pushed such a crazy thing they could probably get our government to pass something so crazy!

Carrie Prejean, the Miss California contestant, was correct about homosexuality! It is mortal filth
and condemned by God’s Word…but Prejean poses semi nude and topless EXPOSING HER
BREASTS and revealing the bottom of her buttocks…then lied about it…and then she parades
her body around in the Miss California Pageant EXPOSING HER PARTIAL BREASTS and
buttocks in a sexual immoral swimsuit before the world! She is 100% a HYPOCRITE and
she does NOT represent Jesus Christ nor a Christian!!
Jesus said it this way, “Anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery
with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better
for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into Hell.” [Mt. 5:28,29]

Miss Prejean accepted a boob job from the Miss CA pageant, and then refused to even return their calls after she lost Miss USA and didn’t live up to her obligations as Miss CA.
She signed a contract that stated these pics didn’t exist, they did.
She agreed to represent CA as Miss CA, then jumped in a spot light and refused to return to obligations.
Brave no, opportunitistic yes. The Miss America that did win doesn’t need Miss Prejean running around the country crying, I would have won, but he didn’t like my answer. Great Sportsmanship there.
