Gingrich’s Group Takes on Cap-and-Trade in TV Ad
EmailABC News’ Rick Klein reports: With the House moving toward a vote on a climate-change bill, an organization affiliated with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is launching a new television ad campaign that links cap-and-trade legislation with the nation's economic woes. The ad, funded by American Solutions for Winning the Future, shows famous footage of the wobbling Tacoma Narrows Bridge — which collapses as the narrator describes the impact of a "national energy tax." "The economic winds are blowing. We're losing our jobs . . . our homes," the ad says. "Factories closing . . . businesses failing . . . families hurting." "Now Congress is about to make things dramatically worse by passing a new national energy tax." "We'll lose more jobs, pay more for gas and electricity — pushing our economy to its breaking point," the voice-over continues. "Stop the national energy tax. Call your member of Congress – before it's too late." American Solutions was launched by Gingrich, R-Ga., last year, as a non-partisan advocacy group and ideas factory. Gingrich serves as the group's general chairman; he isn't mentioned by name in the new advertisement. The ad will run on cable stations nation-wide starting Wednesday. Officials did not disclose the size of the ad buy. Watch the ad HERE.The Waxman-Markey bill — which would impose a "cap" on carbon emissions and allow companies to buy and trade emissions allowances — was approved by the House Energy and Commerce Committee last month. House leaders have indicated that the full House could vote on the bill as early as this week.

One of the things that I’m not hearing much talk about are the companies selling carbon offsets. I’ve seen reports that some spend a very small percentage on the carbon programs they market and the rest of the profit is all going toward high salaries for owners and their petroleum-base lifestyles. These groups bordering on scam and flying just under the legal radar.

This Cap and Trade(TAX) is a huge scam! New taxes will be priced into Everything we buy and and our Electric bill. Call/email your Senetors and Congress representative and tell them to “Vote NO” on Cap and Trade.

Dear Madam
Dear Sir
I am Austrian by birth and have been quite an active environmentalist at home and abroad for over 35 years. (Results → poor).
The ideas you will be given hereafter have – as far as I know – not been expressed by any other person yet. Now please do not think that I am someone that wants to make himself listened to or someone that is – as the English would say – a Jack of all trades. I rather consider myself quite a normal person, who at times is confronted with an idea that sounds fascinating. The topic of the case I would ask you to take into consideration is Global Warming. I assume you will be sighing now, whispering: “Not again!” …. You may even look out of the window – which exactly is the instance my flux of ideas sets in.
What can you see out there? I assume a number of people, houses, vehicles. Right? Many vehicles? The better. – Now let´s hang on to that last-mentioned image a bit. Most of those cars out there need petrol to run or some other form of energy. If you multiply their number, its total will conjure up all the vehicles you find on Earth. Quite an inconceivable number! They all need gas produced from the material within our planet. It may, therefore, be logical to conclude that big holes result in there over a long period of time. Right? What can be assumed happens to those holes? Are they filled by some other material, most likely, water? If this assumption of mine is correct, it will explain why so few places on earth are not flooded nowadays despite fears concerning the melting of the polar ice. (If it was incorrect, a number of cities would presently experience a fate similar to the one New Orleans had to cope with some time ago.)
Now, let´s go on to the next point in question.
Water is not of the same consistency as the material extracted from within the Earth to run cars and other vehicles, or heat houses, make plastic, etc.. Does this fact influence the Earth´s rotation? Change its course? Speed? Gradient of axis? Cause earthquakes by implosion of materials bordering the holes? (Have there lately been any scientific findings regarding these possibilities, findings that could not be explained sufficiently?)
I guess you will sigh again because of the great number of questions that may result in a lot of hard work given rise by an overtly curious Austrian teacher.

Have to agree w/Chookon. Too little – too late. This is all about opposing radical environmentalism. And lets remember who sat hand in hand w/Nancy Pelosi, giving the radicals credibility. No Mr. Speaker, you always charge out in strong opposition, then you – stop. Just short of actual contact w/the enemy.
I wasted time signing the Drill Here/Now petition. Again, why can’t we have domestic production? Most of the time the radical environmentalists block it in court. And, sadly, the Republicans continue to rush to sit at the table of compromise w/these greenies. And Newt is too Republican and not enough Independent Conservative. Darvin Dowdy
