Jake,
Will you and the media allow Obama to get away with this HUGE lie?
“One of the points I want to make is, is that if you actually took the number of Muslims Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world,” he said.

I have watched and read people criticise this statement. Discerning minds know and understand what Obama is trying go say. It does not imply United States is a muslim nation nor does it imply that United States is predominantly muslim. All he is referring to is the population of moslems in America notwithstanding other populations when aggregated and compared to other nations will make United States, one of the countries with a high moslem population.

And yet Saudi Arabia is one of the few countries still engaging in public executions. I wonder that Mr. Obama did not speak out against this barbarism. Just search on “Saudi beheadings” and you will get a full report. Mr. Obama is opposed to US “torture” yet silent on Saudi beheadings in the public square.

He’s just such a fool… 300 million people, we have somewhere between 2.5 and 6 million muslims. That’s between .8 and 2% of the population.
That puts us around #52… he gets scarier day by day orbiting in his own little make believe bubble around the universe. He really is Dr. Evil.

Is this report a bunch of superficial, shallow crap or what? The expression, ”dumbed-down” is being given new meaning by the American mainstream media.

Anyone notice the absence of the First Lady? I guess she couldn’t find a designer-label burka for the occasion.
Did you know that the White House Press Corps was confined to their hotels, specifically warned NOT to report on anything else in Saudi Arabia AND this was approved by the State Dept.???
Well, today we get another mea culpa from Obama in Cairo – he thinks he can BS the whole Muslim world just like he BS’s the American public. I’m sure the rhetoric will be a great example of surrealism. But Arab & Muslim journalists, like their American counterparts (unfortunately), have their own agenda & it’s NOT Obama’s agenda. As always, he will come back empty-handed but this will be glossed over by the American media.

BK – There is no exact number a few sites I looked at put the Muslim population in the US as 10 million. Either way 22% of the worlds population is Muslim.
For all making nasty comments, my question is why? Our President is attempting to engage a large segment of the population that for the last 8 years has been either vilified, ignored and seen with suspicion. Perfect example was our own Presidential race. Rumors that Pres. Obama was Muslim. Even if he was, so what! It was used as a negative, why? Prejudice!

Ronnie – To see how easy this was to check, I contacted an online fact checking service and got the following reply:
According to the American Religion Survey-Aris survey:
The U.S. Muslim popultation is about 0.6 percent of the total, and has been growing.
The total U.S. population is over 306 million at present.
So that figures to about 1.8 million U.S. Muslims, and you can get larger estimates from Islamic orgnizations and smaller ones from Jewish groups.
That’s a lot, but it wouldn’t put the U.S. in the top 50 Muslim nations.”

I am glad that the POTUS realizes that the kingdom is off limits from his rhetoric.. if the king’s men don’t row their half of our boat.. we’ll be going around in a circle.
He was probably there to reassure the king: .. those electric cars..don’t worry king..it’s nothing .. that democracy for all..dont’ worry king..it’s not about the Saudi’s … and so on and so on…
About the only thing I like about this president is his pragmatism.. he can throw his ideals away.. as soon as it becomes practical.. I like that..

Hey, TryTheTruth – why don’t you try the truth for a change?
Just read Jake’s new column “From the Fact Check Desk” – the info is easy to find, and I even gave him more wiggle room than Jake did on the numbers.
I stand by my Dr. Evil floating around the universe in his bubble comparison.
So you consider the population that he is engaging (and apologizing to) as vilified, ignored or seen with suspicion? OK, let me try this on you… who has declared an all out jihad on the West and Israel? Who populates the majority of countries that oppress, rape, sell, trade and abuse women and girls? The Christians/Buddhists/Hindus/Jews of Liechtenstein, nope. How about the nations with majority Muslim populations. OK, if you call that vilifying them, so be it. If you think they are societies of teddy bears, then enjoy your denial.
As far as ignored… I think they live out loud in such a way that they make sure they cannot be ignored.
As far as seen with suspicion… can’t imagine why that would be. Personally, I find populations/societies/religions of willing and gullible murderers as fairly suspicious.
