DNC Launches TV Ad on Heels of Obama Press Conference

ABC News’ David Chalian Reports: Taking President Obama’s cue to “keep up the heat,” the Democratic National Committee has launched a national and DC cable TV ad – a relatively small buy – highlighting the president’s point that failing to reform the health care system will result in rising premiums, lost coverage, and soaring profits for the insurance companies. The ad is entitled “The Cost of Doing Nothing” and chastises Republicans for “playing politics” on this issue as images of RNC Chairman Michael Steele, South Carolina Senators Jim DeMint and Lindsey Graham, and Rush Limbaugh flash across the screen. At a time when Republicans appeared to be gaining some traction on the concerns surrounding the cost of health care reform, emboldened by recent Congressional Budget Office estimates, the Democrats are working to depict what they see as the alternative to failing to enact reform. The ad will run for the next two and a half weeks as it attempts to frame the dialogue members of Congress will have with their constituents over the August recess. You can watch the ad HERE.
