Jack: It’ time to move on…I think you got enough press out of this story. Let’s get to the stuff that matters for the economy.

That was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen.
Posted by: Axey | July 31, 2009, 10:06 am 10:06 am
How about talking about the positive signs that the economy is slightly better and the programs which are out there to re-educate people so that they can find new careers? How about talking about the home sales improving and home prices increasing slightly, or the fact that many companies have shown profits in spite of the economy. Guess that is not the news you want to spread.
What I think a good reporter would do is find out what good has come out of the stimulus instead of what is so overblown like the “beer party.” Our president did the wrong thing to express an opinion but he did the right thing to bring the people together.

This is a blog and not the front page for a reason. A little ranting when he posts a shallow treatment of a serious subject is certainly called for, but this is a puff piece about a puff subject (sure the symbolism counts for something, but it doesn’t take a deep thinker to get the message). Don’t waste your time clicking the blog entry if you don’t care about the subject.

Much has been made by many that the 911 caller made no reference to the race of the two men who forced the door open but that the police report said the caller had described them as black.
The police report is not an exact word for word transcript of what everyone said. It is a synopsis of what took place at the scene after the incident.
The two men were in fact black as we now know.
Because charges against Gates were dropped within hours after his arrest, many are still saying that he was arrested unjustly on flimsy charges because he is black.
The arrest was necessary. Gates was uncooperative, belligerent, screaming wildly and appeared to be spinning out of control. He was obstructing the investigation.
The handcuffs calmed him down and the arrest served its intended purpose and that’s why the charges were soon dropped.

It’s over until Obama’s mask slips again.
Must be hard for him to hide all the built up contempt he has for the media, women, whites, unborn children, cops, the elderly, our military.
Consider some of his unscripted remarks when the truth slips out:
Hold on sweetie and lipstick on a pig
The military are bombing villages
Punished with a child
Cops acted stupidly
Typical white person
Take a painkiller
And the media?
He constantly demeans them. But who can respect a doormat?
Obama is an angry dangerous man that has to put on a show every single day.

A slap on the wrist to the Black Panthers that tried to intimidate white voters.
That’s gonna help race relations.

anon:”The arrest was necessary. Gates was uncooperative, belligerent, screaming wildly and appeared to be spinning out of control. ”
He was not belligerent – there has been no indication he made threats of physical violence against the officers or himself.
We are not a police state. The police do not have the right to arrest and imprison for any period people just for being rude to them. This overstepping of police powers is going to become only more of an issue as the number of ex-military (who operate by necessity under VERY different rules) making up the police force surges. It needs to be nipped in the bud every chance we get.
Police should be held in high respect because they have a difficult job. And part of that respect comes from putting up with pretentious jerks yelling at them from their own front porch without arresting them without legal cause.
The last jury I was on, a bunch of white, suburbanite middle class folks, quickly concluded the police were lying and disregarded their testimony about incriminating statements the defendant supposedly made after being arrested. Why do you think that is?

The story is and should be that a sitting president inserted himself into a police matter that involved a close friend, after admitting he didn’t have all the facts. Funny how this has turned into our problem and not his.

Axey,
You need to understand that by taking an unrelated anecdote from an unrelated court case happening in a different time and place and involving a bunch of people we don’t know is the perfect way to understand the Gates issue. See how easy?

Seriously? Now the Republican line is that Obama, who was criticized for having more white men in his administration’s top positions than George Bush, is racist?
The Democrats aren’t exactly governing geniuses, but at least they aren’t living in a fantasy land where rich white men are always a downtrodden victim class.

preventing them from responding to other serious calls and situations.
Gates is not a good citizen.

No, they save their victim class for overpaid Harvard professors, whose first instinct was to pick up a phone to call the chief and ask do you know who I am (turns out that threat was real, wasn’t it?) instead of middle of the road white policemen.

Didn’t you hear? For his insufferable behavior toward The Man, Prof. Gates is being exiled to a penal island as punishment. This island is a place of unspeakable horrors that makes Solovetsky and Devil’s Island look like Bermuda and is only spoken of in whispers and on anonymous comment boards. After an long voyage in a prison hulk, he will be cast ashore to atone for his crimes. The place is Martha’s Vineyard. Don’t let the name fool you. It has broken many, many men. I can speak no more of such a terrible place…

“a penal island … only spoken of in whispers and on anonymous comment boards.”
Sort of like Imminent Skip selling his “African DNA” biz to Time Inc for millions, then turning his “intellectual entrepreneur” efforts to a non-profit hustle — his “Inkwell” non-profit’s supposedly based on inner-city education — in which the only funds ever given out have gone to the non-profit’s staff and Imminent Skip’s “fiance”, with a dribble to others at Harvard.
If the bogus “non-profits” Obama’s so darned fond of — zillions of them — were taxed, the US could have Single Payer. If the “non-profits” were abolished, public policy — not to mention the deliberately-crappy kill-em-quick “health care” practiced on the poor who are the grant fodder for “non-profit”-run clinics — might return to public view.

How about, who was riding along on Scare Force One? No?
How about the lack of national coverage when domestic terrorists are arrested or kill American soldiers on our soil? No?
How about digging deeper into Helen Thomas’s comment about how the Obama administration handles questions from the press and the pre-scripting of town hall questions. She said in all her years in the White House she’s never seen anything like it. No?
How about the news blackouts of large demonstration against Obama and his policies? No?
How about the media (including ABC) actively promoting Obama and his policies rather than exposing when there are lies and deception? No?

The 911 caller Marcia Whalen has stated about her exchange with Crowley . . .
“The ONLY words I exchanged were ‘I was the 911 caller’ and he pointed to me and said ‘Stay right there’. NOTHING MORE THAN THAT.”
Crowley then puts in his report that Whalen told him there were ’2 black men with backpacks”.
If Whalen said nothing about ’2 black men’, we are left to wonder why did Crowley put this in his report since it isn’t true?
If it’s a mistake, then we know Crowley is capable of making a mistake and putting it in an official police report as if it were true – not good. If it’s something he made up because it helped his cause to have a report of ’2 black men’ – even worse.
Neither of those options reflects that well on Crowley’s reliability.
Putting untrue information in a police report puts the credibility of Crowley’s information in question.
And this puts the entire situation in question. Not as easily defined as some here would like it to be. All the facts are still not in.

Apparently Republicans are very good at pretending.
“A DC-based lobbying firm specializing in organizing “grassroots” and “minority” efforts for big business has fired an employee who reportedly forged anti-climate change letters using the names of fictitious officials at real Hispanic and black groups, according to Charlottesville (Va.) Daily Progress.
It’s a crazy story — and what that gives Democrats ammo going into the recess.
The firm, run by Jack Bonner, a former RNC official and aide to late Sen. John Heinz (R-Penn.), has represented the energy and coal industries in the past.”
Astroturf taken to whole new heights.

1. Did you know that it only takes about 15 minutes to teach your parrot to say “He’s a racist,” A Parrot doesn’t have the intelligence to know what it’s saying, it’s just mimicking what it heard. In an effort to stop name calling, children in elementary schools are taught to take ownership of their feelings by using “I” messages; “I don’t like it when you cut in line, I don’t like it when it when you call me names,” etc.. This helps children to solve problems using their own intelligence and not just mimicking someone else

I’ve yet to see anywhere Whalen made the statement Danita claims. She did not make it in her press conference. As a matter of fact, she ended her press conference saying that she respected the Cambridge police. Even if she had made the statement Danita claims, the logic is flawed as it would then be a he said/she said situation, not proof of any falsification.

Ryan C, the United States government has thus far spent at least 79 BILLION dollars on research and subsidies supporting anthropogenic global warming. That doesn’t even count the 6 Billion given to Ford this year for retooling to produce ‘green’ or ‘economically friendly’ vehicles.
Anything coming from oil and gas companies utterly pales in comparison.
