This bud’s for you. Today,i hope that the men was more civil towards each other than they were a few weeks ago. Try to understand that it was an unfortunate incident that probably could have happened to any of us under those circumstances and try to learn from it. We must make this melting pot work because we Americans do have a common enemy that we must defeat.

Seriously, if you live in America you SHOULD care that race, sexuality and religion create huge social problems and though this particular story has exploded we can certainly try to use it to our advantage. Look beyond the minutae. We can learn from it.

This Main Stream Corporate Conservative Media is certainly a sad lot. This story is a perfect example of why our priorities in this Country are so screwed up.

See a picture perfect Black & White moment. Let just forget the US is also made up of all types of people of different colors and genders. But it all comes down to Black and White “male’s only” club. If you are any other type of race instead of sitting down with them, they have the “OTHER” races serving them. but they will not show that picture.

Gates makes me sick with his grandstanding, playing the victim, and manipulation. Obama needs to put some distance between himself and this turkey, otherwise he’ll end up looking just as ridiculous as Gates.

I think it’s a refreshing approach to an issue that STILL seems to be a problem in this country for both blacks and whites. Anything that promotes civil dialogue and an effort to evolve gets my 2 thumbs up.

I’ve been watching some of the coverage and video of the meeting, and it looks rather cordial and lovely. While I do think mistakes were made all around, everyone has bad days. I respect the graciousness of both Officer Crowley and Professor Gates. Given some of the wingnuttery’s reax, I can just imagine someone not as classy as Crowley, more like Joe (or was it Sam?) the Plumber, making country album deals and what not, and really exploiting the situation.
Well done. Now, let’s move on. Please?

This was nothing more than a dog and pony show. The elites looking down on the cop for the benefit of the media. Cop didn’t even rate A/C in August. Obama should have just put on his big boy pants and apologized for voicing an opinion without knowing the facts. He never said that his frind acted stupidly.

I guess Obama thinks he has escaped another disaster like he did with Rev Wright.
A speech on race to educate the poor ignorant morons, or spin his dumb comment into a wonderful teaching moment.
He wants to lecture us about everything.
Someone should tell him he’s not a professor anymore–he has to actually lead now.
He’s not a Senator that can simply vote present on the hard decisions.
Obama seems quite content to lecture, make speeches, and turn the tough decisions over to Pelosi and Reid.
Maybe beer will help him get a spine.

So just how far would you let Gates go. Crowley was leaving…Gates continued to go on & on. He WAS NOT arrested in his home, he came out and continued to berate the police EVEN after he was wraned that was becoming disorderly.
Were the officers just supposed to leave with a man in an aggiated state and people gathering to watch the “spectacle”?
What would all you liberal fools be saying about the police if they had left and Gates continued to go on & on?
Their job is to protect & serve the community, not to ignore an highly aggitated hateful man and leave the people in the neighborhood to deal with him.
What evidence is there at all that Crowley did or said anything to Gates that deserved the hate speech that Gates spewed?
Did he call him the “n-word” ?
Did he knock him to the ground and slap him around at all ?
EXACTLY WHAT did Crowley do ?
He introduced himself, explained why he was there & asked Gates for ID.
Obviously these things were done just to set Gates off !

Whomever made the comment about Cindy McCain selling Budweiser to the Belgians was incorrect. Cindy McCain’s Company is a wholesaler for Budweiser products, not the actual company that makes the beer.
Anheuser-Busch was sold to InBev by its shareholders, not one person. Cindy McCain may hold some stock in A-B, but she certainly didn’t have anywhere near a controlling percentage.
With regard to the comment in the article about Sam Adams being the only “true American” beer in the lot, that’s disingenuous at best.
Blue Moon is brewed by MillerCoors (no longer Molson Coors, as the article says), but Coors (and Miller were once in the position of A-B as an American company which was bought out by foreign investors. But, like A-B, all of their products are still made the same way in the same places they have been for decades.
So, yes, they’re not owned by American companies anymore, but 80% of the beer we drink in America are those beers. The so-called “Macrobreweries” are all owned by foreign companies. And all that’s only happened in the last 15 years.
Why is this news, again?

Man with all the education that Gates is supposed to have he sure acts like an idiot. It seems to me that when the press was filming them all sitting at the table he was angry and making an argument for his innocence. I can’t believe that he thinks that he deserves an apology. Some nerve he has but then when the president comes out and says that the police department the arreseted him was stupid what’s he supposed to think? Gates momma sure didn’t raise him to well. I don’t care what color you are you don’t act like amoron when the police are talking to you. Because one things for sure. Black, white , yellow and any other color you can think of you act like Gates did and you are going to be ARRESTED! It doesn’t take a Harverd education to figure that one out. Well unless your Gates and think that your someone special. Which he is not.

That depends, according to Ms. Whelan, Crowley falsified his police report to state she had told him there were “2 black men” breaking in.
Ms. Whelan says she told him nothing of the sort. Certainly from the 911 call we can hear she does not identify the men as ‘black’ when directly asked. She says one ‘might’ be hispanic.
This casts Crowley’s report in a less than stellar light . .. so this needs to be investigated further before the ‘class act’ label gets applied with the certainly you seem to have.

This has got to be the most pathetic excuse of a President of the United States to act. He thinks after he berated the police department in general and Officer Crowley that sitting down with suit and ties to have a beer is going to undo his stupidity. He wouldn’t have gotten envolved if it had been a white man, which proves who the racist is.
I wish Crowley hadn’t gone for Obama’s dog and pony show. Just another example of what we have to look forward to.

It is ironic that a ‘constitutional law professor’, now POTUS, does not have the sense to refrain from speaking about a case when he freely admits he does not hold all of the facts.
Yet, he has the power to select federal judges. Let’s hope he holds them to a higher standard than his own, when it comes to speaking out about racially sensitive cases in which they know little about.

What an odd spectacle. The staff members runs over with one beer each and then they grumble at each other. And Gates brings his lawyer with him!?
Anyone else disappointed that Joe doesn’t drink? It seem like he would be the type to bust out a joke about a “black and a cop walking into a bar” after two at most.

Since you like facts so much. Gates, “I’ll go outside with your mama”, “why, cause I am a black man in America?”, “do you know who I am?”.
Obama, “The police acted stupidly”. Judging from these answers, Crowley must have asked Gates these questions:
Sir, do you want to go outside with me or my mama?
Sir, Why did you have to break into your own home?
Without your ID, I don’t know who you are, can you give me a hint?
And Obama this question:
Mr. Prez, can you give us your intelligent opinion on the way the police acted while not knowing any facts?
Either that or Obama and Gates acted like children. Would you ever treat the police in the manner gates did? Obama pulled something worse than even Bush could do. It’s pathetic neither of the 2 could be man enough to own up and apologize. Those are uncontested facts and not the way any normal human being should act.

The photo op fizzled because the cop wouldn’t apologize. And, Obama had nothing else that he wanted. So, he gave the press their “photo op” without sound. Making the press look like idiots.
As to “stupidly,” it looks like it brought down the house of cards. I guess there was a joker in the deck, after all?
Cop didn’t apologize. Obama’s “beer fest around some lawn furniture” fell flat. Name another president, in recent times, who would have gone through with this? And, guess what Obama must be like to his staff these days?

The whole entire thing is such a joke and anyone who can’t see through it is a moron. And what about the poor woman who made the 911 call- how come she didn’t get an apology from anyone.
Crowley seems a little too cozy with Obama, etc. for my taste, in this whole affair. He saved BO’s butt. I’ve come to not like anyone included in this whole ridiculous scenario. And I’m so sick of seeing BO everywhere- by the time next year comes around, we’ll be wearier than h— of these people in this administration. And also, Biden probably had/has a drinking problem and can’t take the chance of chatter about his likely past alocoholism. JUST MY OPINION….What the media let this administration get away with is just unbelievable and so transparent! What about all our soldiers being killed now in Afghanistan!! Anything to get that bit of news off the front page!! DISGRACEFUL!!!

Suzanne, Joe does not drink because many family members of his were alcoholics but never drank himself.
I think both Gates and Crowley profiled each other and both acted irrationally.
Now its time to move on to more important things like the economy and health care. The media is so idiotic sometimes.
