‘This Week’ Exclusives: Timothy Geithner and Alan Greenspan
Our exclusive headliners this Sunday: US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Alan Greenspan.
Our focus: the state of the economy and your money. There was some encouraging news on the economy this week. The government’s first estimate of economic activity in the second quarter showed the economy shrank by 1%. Better than expectations and far better than the 6.4% percent contraction in the first quarter. Still, uncertainty prevails with unemployment and foreclosures representing the human toll of the recession. On Sunday I’ll ask the Treasury Secretary where he sees the economy headed and when the staggering level of unemployment might begin to ease. We’ll also talk to former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Alan Greenspan. Mr. Greenspan was last on our program when the financial crisis began in September and told me then that the financial crisis was "by far" the worst economic crisis he had ever seen. We’ll find out where he sees the economy now and whether he thinks President Obama’s economic policies will lift the country out of the deep recession. Geithner and Greenspan – only on This Week.
Plus, we have a great Roundtable. Author and columnist Michelle Malkin, Cynthia Tucker of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Bloomberg’s Al Hunt and the Wall Street Journal’s Jerry Seib discuss the week’s politics including the most talked about story of the week: that White House beer summit between Harvard professor Skip Gates, police Sgt. James Crowley and President Obama.
You can’t miss this one. See you on Sunday morning.

I just would like to know from George Stephanopolous his sincere and honest opinion about president Obama since he and many more like him, were like in a trance with this fellow when running for the presidency.
To him, Obama could do no wrong. Just like that chick Michelle Maulkin, that could not hear anything negative about Obama. Now… she even wrote a book about him of all the crookedness he is doing!!!
What world were you living when this guy was running for office??? YOU WANTED CHANGE??? SURPRISE!!!!!

What I cannot understand is how Timothy Geithner, who did not pay his fair share of taxes like the rest of the good citizens of the United States, can still remain in his elected position.

Yikes. This roundtable is *incredibly* weak. Where are the heavy heights? Gone to vacation? It´s almost as bad as the roundtable of Fox News Sunday.

Fox guarding the henhouse Geithner who gave unbelievably large amounts of money to Wall Street, banks, and credit card companies without restrictions or oversight which led to them immediately giving out huge bonuses and more or less gave the rest of the country the bird is going to be on tv while according to the news, Wall Street, the banks and credit card companies have decided they didn’t get big enough bonuses the first time and are setting up for another round of giveaways and pocket lining? That Geither?

Salaban1 >>>>>>>> I agree..
Obama as done LITTLE with the stimulus, since only 70 billion has been spent, the economy is recovering on its own.
Some at CNBC said its because its because Health care, cap and trade and Obama is finally failing. I hope George looks up the CNBC clip where they said every day health care failed the economy did better.

The GDP is contracting which means we have less jobs. We have lost over 4 million jobs. Hows that hope and change working for all of us?

It’s fantastic to watch a biased media try to make people believe all is well in the economy and that Obama deserves all the credit.
Most Americans aren’t that stupid.
Yesterday and today and probably tomorrow, Obama and the media will try to take “credit for the great Recession of the second Quarter which came in at -1.0%.
The stimulus gave us -1.0% GDP. Really.
If that’s the case, the do we get to say the stimulus caused 1,500,000 jobs to be lost in April May and June and saw Unemployment skyrocket to 9.5%.
It turns out that a revision in GDP in the first quarter from -5.5% to -6.4% caused the -1.0% number we had yesterday.
If the first quarter numbers had not been so awful, GDP would have been -1.9%, which would have been worse than the expected -1.5%.
Here’s the bottom line:
Many people in my family are out of work. They had jobs in 2008. they were let go in 2009.
I am the only one left standing in immediate family and my employer has cut 20% (50 people) this year and plans more cuts going forward.
I have not worked one hour of overtime this year. Last year, I averaged 2.5 hours of overtime per day. I also worked weekends. This year that money is gone.
Property Taxes went up 30% here this year.
The Train Pass went up 15% this year.
We have less money, less work and everything is getting more expense.
I am spending my money on the bare essentials for the house and food. Trying to stretch out every dollar in ways I never had to before Obama became President.
This President is destroying the private sector and only when it looks like his policies will fail to become law, does the stock market come back.
JULY WAS OBAMA’S WORST MONTH OF POLLING.
JULY WAS THE STOCK MARKET’S BEST MONTH IN 20 YEARS.
THIS IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. IT IS CAUSE AND EFFECT.
AS OBAMA FAILS TO MAKE SOCIALISM LAW, AMERICA WILL REBOUND.
Yet, employers know better and in the coming months, more will suffer job losses due to Obama’s failed stimulus and his push for other socialism.
On August 7th, we get jobs numbers. My employer let go 14 people this month. I wonder if Obama and the media will take credit for that too.

While getting all viewpoints is a worthy goal, there is a substantial amount of difference between the great conservative minds of Peggy Noonan, George Will, Matthew Dowd and the lowbrow venom and bile of Michelle Malkin. She does not deserve to be elevated to the level of a member of the Roundtable. It is an unfortunate choice on your part and your producers part. She does not elevate the debate, she merely spews an opinion, not an informed opinion.

Since you have a conservative blogger on the panel tomorrow, does that mean you’ll have a liberal blogger on next week? It is truly disappointing that Michelle Malkin is part of tomorrow’s roundtable. Giving this hate spewing blogger any kind of forum, thus credibility on “This Week” sets an all-time low for the show. I will certainly avoid watching and will recommend that nobody else tunes in. I can already hear the sound of television shutting off once people see her face on the show. Disgusting. You have lost a loyal viewer.

Just as the Fed, Congress, and everyone else in Washington are trying to ease credit & get the economy rolling again, out jumps Chase last month with a 52% increase (from 13.24% to 20.24%) in interest rates. Justification: “We’re simply standardizing our portfolio. There’s nothing wrong with your payment history.” My take: Washington is taking action so they’re going to gouge consumers before new laws go into effect. How about DC putting a freeze on the rate hikes of these banks and forcing a return to previous rates? Thank God I’m a good customer who doesn’t carry a balance and so am not impacted. I’d hate to see what happened to the millions of customers who do carry balances and could be forced into bankruptcy by the predatory practices undertaken by the banks before the new laws go into effect.
I’d like to know Treasury’s and the Fed’s take on these practices and what they are doing to stop and reverse them.

Unemployment has jumped from 7% to over 10% from coast to coast on Obama’s watch and the liberal media is trying to convince everyone that everything is just peachy.
If the media was not creating cover for the incompetence of Obama his job approval would be at 40% rather than 50%.
Consumer spending accounts for 2/3 of GDP and it plummeted in the 2nd Quarter.
I’d like to purchase lots of things, but every time I think of buying something I have two reasons I don’t.
First, I could lose my job at any moment and need to save my money.
Second, I don’t feel like helping Obama bankrupt the country and destroy America. I’ll sit on my spare cash until he’s voted out of office in 2012.

Would everyone PLEASE realize that finally we have a President who cares about ALL Americans…even the middle class. This time now, is OUR opportunity as Americans, not Dems or Repubs, to remake America into a better working machine in which to live. We can insure everyone! YES we CAN, if the Repubs in Congress will roll up their sleeves and get to work as their constituants elected them to do. Dems. in turn, should support the Democratic platform and work together to get things done, even without the Repubs., or else WE will LOSE The Congress and Administration back to the “Just pay me to get reelected oh ye mighty insurance companies, and pharmaceutical companies, and oil companies!!!!! Isn’t THAT what we had for the last 8 years? Why in the world would we want more of that? Let’s make changes and provide health coverage to everyone. Let’s have more controller’s watching Wall Street and every area of commerce, so that we can be more assured that mismanagement has penalties! Let’s change healthcare and provide care to everyone, so that money goes to healing and not to healthcare lobbyists! Let’s hold our Congressmen accountable when they make remarks as “Healthcare will be Obama’s Waterloo” or if we can mislead the public, we can stall and stall and stall until all of Obama’s initiatives will lose steam and we can say “The Democrats could NOT get it done!” We know how is hindering progress in this country…”The Liers and the Lies the Liers tell.” Quit playing politics and do good governence as our forefathers did. Quit the hating, the finger-pointing, the blaming……and work together in the bipartisan way or else, we are indeed headed toward tyranny like so many of the world’s other splitting nations. We will all remember how the Republicans blocked good, sensible, governing. That is why they are not in charge now, and if they continue in this bipartisan war, they will NOT be in power for quite some time to follow. It is truthful to say, that Obama has thought more, read more, done more, shared more and worke more for the welfare of each one of us as Americans, than we have seen in any President in our recent history. Normally, in a society, hard work and achievement are lauded. Have we been so unfamiliar with such things these last eight years, that we have forgotten that God is blessing Americans with a good President. May He now bless us with a good Congress as well. Please God, please!

Amazing how such first amendment, free speech loving liberals cannot even listen to a conservative like Ms. Malkin. They go right to name-calling as they cannot debate the facts. Michelle Malkin? You must be joking? If you’re trying to incite hatred and divide the country, she’s an excellent choice for the roundtable. This country is still at each other’s throats since the last election, and the vitriol of the last eight years remains fresh. And you’re answer is to bring on one of the most despicable unhinged bomb throwers one can imagine. This country is in grave danger of sliding backwards on civil rights, consumer protections, healthcare, and world leadership while the party of southern morons pushes their platform of malignant selfishness and fear. Michelle will bring Fox style propaganda to what used to be a seriously thoughtful and credible Sunday morning program. I miss Tim Russert.

For the past few weeks we have been bombarded by really far-out right-wingers trying to convince the nation that our president isn’t a natural-born citizen. They have been given far too much publicity, but, perhaps, exposing them will show off a hidden racism that seems to be implied in this movement.I was really surprised to see that Rachel Malkin will be on the “Green Room” part of your show. Giving her credibility by putting her on is an insult to your audience. She is of the same ilk as the birthers with her irresponsible hate-mongering. But perhaps you’re putting her on you to expose her for being on the far right fringe of the Republican party. The poor Republicans. Can’t you find a rational, respected Republican to give his/her view?

Having Michelle Malkin on your roundtable is not only an embarrassment to your show, but it’s giving legitimacy to a hateful, racist, extremist lunatic.
Is there no one on your staff that can spend 15 minutes reading through her archives? No wonder George Will, Paul Krugman, Sam Donaldson, Cokie Roberts, or any of your other regulars aren’t on this week…they were too embarrassed to appear with your conservative affirmative action guest.

It is hilarious that many of George’s loyal viewers are upset because he is having Michelle Malkin on the round table. So much for the enlightened progressive viewpoint that dissent is patriotic. Are you afraid that George wasn’t able to get his talking points down in his conference calls to the White House this week? Saying that George is a “serious” journalist is as laughable as being afraid to hear an opposing OPINION which is what everyone on the round table is giving. It sounds like you folks are RACISTS because you want to deny the brown skinned woman the opportunity to offer her viewpoint. The ratio is for sure at least 3 to 1 lefty, with George, Al Hunt and Cynthia Tucker. Yes, so brave and enlightened you folks are!

Can we start the discussion of national health care with one small change of requiring all members of Congress to forfeit the extraordinary health benefits they currently enjoy and be required to participate in whatever program they vote into existence? Then apply the same logic to adjusting SSI. Then we will all benefit equally.

I’ve been on unemployment for 19 weeks. I’m a skilled professional with 18 years experience in office administration. I’ve applied to an average of 7 jobs a week, including service jobs. Because I’m ready to take anything, I’ve been told I’m overqualified or I am facing thousands of other applicants in competing for one job. I’ve NEVER taken any assistance from the government and have been a member of the job force since I was 14. If that idiot Malkin thinks I’m just sitting here, raking in the gravy she’s gotta get her head out of her butt. I don’t want to collect unemployment, I HAVE to. Employers are still laying off and not hiring in order to improve the bottom line. That’s why the numbers are starting to look better. The unemployment is still stagnant. I’d like to see an incentive program for employees to hire workers much like the clunkers program. Give employers an incentive for hiring people who are on unemployment. Stop feeding us and give us a means to feed ourselves.

About unemployment compensation to “Author” Malkin:
I am a professional who has been actively seeking a position even under my level of preparation to no avail. If it were not for unemployment I would have never been able to “eat” while still getting in debt. Please, find me a job and will counter in unemployment.
Malkin news, author woman need to channel her rage on other personal issues. May be she can follow older…….wiser. Anything positive to say? Undertone the level of indignation? I would have liked to see her personal reaction in front of job loss, racism in America and other issues.

Nice point Sara. Part of the TARP agreement is that those companies, that have taken it, freeze employment. It should have been the opposite, continue employment of skilled workers along with freezing big bonuses and capping CEO pay. Hopefully the millions give to those execs would trickle to new employees or to retain their present staff.

It was a good idea for you to have a “conservative” on board. It was a terrible idea that Malkin is that face. Not only was she not taken seriously and ignored by your other three guests, she did her credibility absolutely no good by appearing so vitriolic. When the facts and numbers can speak for themselves, just back off and be magnanimous. Conservatives will never recover from the last 30 years until they learn to respect the intelligence of Americans and be able to hear the incredible vacuousness of their spin. With the bar set so low by Bush for intelligence and Cheney for honesty, Democrats would do themselves a huge favor by not measuring themselves by this ineptitude.

George:
Where did you get this Michelle Malkin? Is she crazy? I was really insulted by her comment that: all people on unemployment don’t bother looking for jobs and are just looking for a government hand out. I’ve been unemployed for 17 months and in that time have applied for 350 jobs. There are just no jobs out there, unless you are willing to work for minimum wage. When I have gone on interviews, the employer tells you right off the bat that you were one of 500 or 1000 or 1500 that applied for the same job. Then, knowing you are fully qualified for the job, because they have your resume in front of them, they ask you what you are expecting to make. When you tell them, they then say the job pays around $10 per hr. When you made twice that on your last job, and your unemployment pays more then that, how are you supposed to survive? Does Michelle Malkin have an answer for that? The last interview I went on was an entry level job. It was not listed on the job posting, they waited until they got you there to tell you that. I have over 30 years experience in one field and over 9 in another. I will not work for $9/hr. My son makes more then that as a line cook with no experience in a restaurant. I have looked for work all over the country. I live in a suburb of Detroit. I am one check away from loosing my house, van and everything I own. So tell your friend Michelle that not all of us are not just sitting around collecting our “government hand out”.

I can’t believe Michelle Malkin’s comment about extending unemployment benefits will mean people will get lazy and not look for work…is this lady out of the loop and not seeing the lines for any job openings?
Does she have any kids to find out how hard it is to get jobs for them? I guess, not…she has such a restrictive view that she can’t realize what a disaster the last 8 years were, which explains why the economy went downhill.
This lady clearly is completely out of touch with reality and can’t believe This Week stooped this low to give her a podium to speak her ‘wisdom’ out?

This was probably ONE of the original mass racial profiling incidents in OUR culture. I do not know who Michelle Malkin is and I am a moderate. It was disconcerting that the Roundtable sank so low to include someone of her clear lack of intelligence and just pure hatred. She provided no valuable knowledge to the audience and even used false information to try to convince everyone that the President and anything the administration does is evil. What is the criteria for being included in the Roundtable?

Michelle Malkin???? What were you thinking George?

I watch This Week every Sunday and I really enjoy the level of intellectual discourse about todays issues. I was very upset by Michele Malkin’s contribution today because she offered vapid, emotional responses instead of factual, thoughtful analysis. I hope not to see her on the show again.

George W. campaigned on change. He was going to “change the tone in Washington” remember that? He just forgot to tell you he was going to make it worse.
He was the “MBA president”. He was going to run the country like a business. Except that all his businesses were failures. He did what he always does, leave a HUGE MESS for someone else to clean up.
The present economy is Bush’s legacy. It’s going to take years to recover.

Why dont you all say bad things about Cynthia Tucker who used her 15mins of fame to repeat the “stupid” remark. Obama been working all week to smooth out a stupid remark he made and Cynthia tries to renew it.
Tuckers remarks make her sound like someone with a inbred dislike for police, probably taught to her as a child, and this seems to be the norm for some families.
Oh, and the reason Gates got cuffed was because he was disorderly. The police did not go to his home to arrest him, he forced the issue and got what he deserved. And for the last time the guy was outside his home when he got cuffed, he followed the cop out and continued his tirade, acting like the hater that he is.
Seems like this week was not a learning moment for Tucker.
Gates didnt have the guts to make his apology on public TV. But he did say that book sales had increased due to the public attention.

Michelle Malkin really stunk. Why have some one on who is only plugging their book? If thats what This Week is becoming I’ll skip next week.

This Week doesn’t look like a serious program with Malakin on the show.

Michelle Malkin is 100% correct. Why do the other people on the on the panal make jabs then changes the subject. On this Gates deal, leave it to the black person on the panal take the black persons side. She even admits that Gates acted like an idot. Why couldn’t she say Gates should have cooperated with the police. I guess we need to ask when someone calls 911 are they black. If so do send out the police because that would be racial profiling. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I’ve just read some of the comments about Michelle Malkin here. I have to say that I’ve never heard of her. I watch George nearly every Sunday and was certain she’d add something to the conversation. It was also interesting to see a young, attractive female minority on the panel.
However, when she began to speak, I nearly fell off the sofa onto the floor. She sounded like someone who sat at home thinking of ways to offend minorities and the less fortunate as a way to impress conservative republicans. Maybe someone should change the talk radio station in her car. Her views are slanted and unfair.
Even the caucasian gentlemen on the panel disagreed with her views on the Gates situation and on unemployment. If I had anything to say to Michelle Malkin, I’d remind her that the pain of unemployment and foreclosure hasn’t reached her personally, so she must feel that everyone is doing just as well. The nation is hurting. We need plans in place. We don’t need this minority Barbie on television working against us.
These issues affect us all…no matter the race. Whites. Blacks. Asians. Hispanics, etc. I’m surprised if she’s sold even one book. She should also work on omitting “um” from her vocabulary when she gets national television exposure.
Posted by: Vanessa | August 2, 2009, 11:44 am 11:44 am
The truth? I am living it. I am offended at anyone who believes that “there is a lack of incentive to get off of unemployment”. How about earning enough money to stay in my home, keep my eldest son in college this year, feed my family, pay my bills, how about buy clothing & back to school supplies for all 3 of my children. My husband lost his job mid May (while we were waiting for biopsy results to see if I had cancer.) . He worked for 15yrs as an Art Director for the same company.
Since then, fortunately I do not have cancer – but I did have a precancer condition that required surgery.
I thank God everyday that Barak Obama is my President and that as a result of the Economic Recovery & Reinvestment Act that unemployment benefits have been extended and new COBRA stipulations are in place. I work at a small family owned business & do not have benefits available to me.
Here’s how the COBRA benefits work for us: Under the old rules to keep my families medical benefits in place We would have to pay $619.00. We now pay $216.93 this also cover dental & vision) which we can afford between my small salary & unemployment. I believe that the difference is paid by husbands former employer.
While is getting us by now we realize that this will not last forever. It’s a bandaid.
He is looking hard for a full time position – but there are no jobs.In the meantime; we have incorporated to start are own business. But it will take time to develope enough business to support ourselves & aford to get our helth care.

I have to say that it is a huge disappointment to see Michelle Malkin on the show. She is one of the far right wackos to join the ranks of Limbaugh, Hannity, and Beck. Hipocrisy at its finest. I would much rather see JC Watts or some other credible conservative.

If you have ever heard Malkin on Fox, and you can defend her here, I give up. Unfreakin’believable. Fox news has no cred, and neither does she. Anyone defending her is either a Freeper or has never seen her on Fox. Defending Michelle Malkin is not the same as defending free speech, unless it is the same as saying Hitler had a right to free speech. She is responsible for inciting so much vitriol and hatred. Trying to wrap my head around George’s decision to have her on the show. It literally made me queasy.

Comment to Michelle Malkin -
Regarding your comment that extending unemployment benefits only enables the unemployed to not look for employment:
I seriously doubt if my 59 year old unemployed Sister prefers collecting $475.00 in weekly benefits versus her $100,000.00 plus healthcare, life insurance and 401k, beloved job as a personal shopper at Bloomingdales, San Francisco. Or my 28 year old unemployed Niece prefers collecting $320.00 per week LESS any moneies eared from temp or part time job assignments versus a $35,000 yearly Admin Assistant job with healthcare.
Not everyone makes minimum wage. Lifestyles have been effected dramatically all because of the faliures of the Bush Administration.
The Roundtable needs serious debate. Not a bias, anti-leberal/Democrate ding-dong plugging a book.
Call me – We will discuss!

Why the hell do the major networks give credence to nut case right wingers. Malkin is a racist, a liar and an embarrassment to have on any round table.
YUK. Corporate media is really afraid of the people waking up and getting over the plutocratic society they want to keep.
Stephanopolous is a HUGE disappointment. I cannot believe he would allow the likes of Malkin on his show. Who’s next? Glen Beck? Rush Limbaugh? These people are hate mongers. They should not be given any credence.

Your round table lost a lot of credibility when you invited vehemently anti-Obama Radical Right Conservative Michelle Malkin to join.
Posted by: Steve | August 2, 2009, 11:53 am 11:53 am
Major cudos to poster Jim Bloom. He is absolutely correct and his post deserves to be repeated here:
“While getting all viewpoints is a worthy goal, there is a substantial amount of difference between the great conservative minds of Peggy Noonan, George Will, Matthew Dowd and the lowbrow venom and bile of Michelle Malkin. She does not deserve to be elevated to the level of a member of the Roundtable. It is an unfortunate choice on your part and your producers part. She does not elevate the debate, she merely spews an opinion, not an informed opinion.”

Is Malkin the only one with full set of brain cells? Thank you for saying the words we all feel but don’t have a voice to say it.
Tucker comment about being rude to officers… You gotta be kidding. Marines protect you so you can sleep at night. Police officers do that everyday.

Don’t normally like Michelle Malkin but her point on Obama in has involvement in the Gates issue is right on!! He was wrong to rush to judgement on the police and it was not a racial profiling case. My feeling Gates had a extreme Napoleon complex and was not co-operating with the PO-leece!
Posted by: walter | August 2, 2009, 12:01 pm 12:01 pm
Michelle Malkin is a female rush limbaugh. The worst of the Republican and conservative americans have been given the opportunity to reveal their true racism. Hate Obama’s policies and not his skin color. Malkin feeds that hate.

I have followed Michelle Malkin and she is no better than Glen Beck, Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh. These individuals are the hate committee. The feed the fear that white americans are losing their way of life. Yes, its true, white americans are becoming regular americans and losing that infamous white priviledge status.

THANK YOU GEORGE FOR HAVING MICHELLE MALKIN ON. I AGREE WITH HER STATEMENTS ON THE SHOW AND THINK SHE’S AWESOME.
YOU GO MICHELLE! You’re very insightful and I’m glad to have found you on The Today Show and now on This Week with Geroge S. Please keep it up!!!

Thank you for including Michelle Malkin today. Your other panelists “dismissed” her — but she supported her comments with specifics unlike others….Al Hunt is “not sure that (the Gates-Crowley) situation was not a case of racial profiling” –Does he have an iota of support for that remark — incredible, amazing, uninformed and inflammatory — Crowley deserves an apology from Al Hunt. Hunt is part of the problem. Is he really suggesting that beneath the surface of two policemen — one black, one white–that racial profiling was happening? Pathetic remark from Mr. Hunt. Please forward my comment.

GREAT JOB MICHELLE!! She delivers a thoughtful perspective and is an incredibly well-spoken guest. As for Cynthia, she is a predjudice black women who illustrates why racism is alive and well in Atlanta!! I am sick and tired of RACE being used as an excuse for behaving badly.

Michelle Malkin clearly showed why republicans and conservatives lost the white house and congress. Those extremist views are not palatible to americans. Republicans and conservatives say don’t take from the rich cause it’s not right and also say don’t give unemployment benefits to the poor because that is not right. Do you see why they are out of power!!

Hooray for George for including a responsible voice with Michelle Malkin. I guess the ratings are starting to show that in order to get paying viewers you need to include their voice. Regarding Gates Cynthia Tucker is not as informed as Michelle. The teachable moment is certainly the racial insults being thrust at the person who called 911 to report the break in and the black police officer who stood up for Crowley. The 911 caller never told the operator the race of the breaking in person. The black person was present and agreed Crowley was correct in his actions. Cynthia is stupid for calling Crowley stupid. Way to go Michelle

Regarding Michelle Milkin’s comment on unemployment extension:
I can guarantee that my sister, laid off from a beloved position as a personal shopper prefers to earn $100,000+ salary, health-life insurance, 401 versus $475 in weekly unemployment benefits. Or my neice earning $320 in unemployment benefits versus grabbing temp or part-time jobs, no health insurance versus her $35,000 Admin job.
The Roundable requires serious discussion and panel. Not a personal agendan liberal/Democrate hating ding-dong pushing a book.
Call me – we can discuss the real issues American’s are dealing with as a result of the failures and ignorance of the Bush Administration.

The ire of the socialist listeners has arisen to a ear shattering cresendo.
Michelle Malkin speaks the truth , dont be alarmed socialist your Muppet Ruler has control of the Law Passing arm of the Government and with this he will make his own version of a USA that he sees as his own.
32 Czars in place, all the elected officials jobs are now is to pass the Obama agenda and that seems to be working for him so far.
What did PT Barnum say?

I just went back and read some of the posts about Michelle. It is obvious to me that much of the hate being spewed at her is just that. Just hate, nothing based on facts, no examples, mindless chatter. At least we know the IQ of those who don’t like her. And we know the IQ of the liberal base. All very low

“This Week” usually has its share of conservative and liberal viewpoints. Most guests are willing to consider problems with their own political party’s approach to current conditions in the country. But Michelle Malkin’comments are always predictable:
Nothing–NOTHING–that Democrats and the current President could ever be good. Less than nine months into Obama’s administration, the release of her new book says it all. She is prejudges and interprets anything Democrats do as wrong. She belongs on O’Reilly’s or Limbaugh’s show, not with Stephanopoulos

Michelle “Madness” Malkin, gag , vomit . George, grow some and get Marci Wheeler aka Emptywheel at FDL on your show. She should be a regular and if you take a few minutes to read her posts you’ll see why.
Posted by: ron | August 2, 2009, 12:26 pm 12:26 pm
Obviously you all must have selective hearing. Michelle stated that a person on the Clinton Administration made the remarks about unemployment. She only repeated the remarks on TV and George quickly tried to suppress the reference to a former Socialist President. Now had a Bush admin made a remark it would have been allowed with fervor. Wake up muppets .

Why are you giving Michelle Malkin any credibility by putting her on your show. She is full of hatred and wouldn’t know the truth if it smacked her in the face. She has her own agenda and can not carry on any meaningful discussion. Having her on your show demeans it! This is such an insult!

I was lamenting the loss of ABC signal since cutting cable and trying the digital antenna and also lost the signal on the radio that I would listen to ABC while driving- but if you are going to have Ms. Malkin as roundtable participant I am happy to no longer have ABC signal- I will be content to watch NBC and CBC weekend shows. The Venom and hate speech propigated by Ms Malkin on her blog and Fox channel is nothing I want to be a part of George. Thanks but no Thanks.

I’m not sure who has been discredited more, Alan Greenspan or Michelle Malkin, but clearly it lowers This Weeks credibility more to have on Malkin. This is a new low for the once great program.
When Malkin brought up the “Wild Town Halls” (which she falsely credits to grassroots involvement), it would have been nice if someone had mentioned the leaked memo:
by the right wing groups who are busing in folks to disrupt these town halls on behalfof their lobbyist.

Michelle Malkin is a right wing liar – she probably doesn’t even believe or understand half the things she says – and the likes of here are a HAZARD to this country.
NOW I INSIST that you put someone on the show who is as far to the left as she is to the right – how about Bill Maher, Michael Moore, Ralph Nader, Dennis Kucinich or Bernie Sanders?
At least they won’t pull their information from their backside, feed us $#!t and lie to us the way the Malkins, Hannity’s, O’Reallys?, Becks, Crowleys, Levins, Limbaughs and Savages will.
Disgusting on your part ABC – you KNOW she full of $#!t – shame on you for allowing her idiocy to possibly contaminate and poison even one more mind in this country.

Michelle Malkin is not a journalist-by any objective standard. She is simply a shill for the stupidity that passes itself as political commentary these days. I used to be a This Week fan-they must be scraping the bottom of the barrel to put her on the show.
Have you even read her columns or blog posts?
Yes I have and they suck.
Michelle Malkin has no idea of what the real average American has to deal with-she lives in her cocoon of wealth and stupid ideas. She has lived a pampered and privileged life and she still has the gall to complain about it. If she really wants to understand the world she should have to live the life of her distant Filipina relatives for a few weeks and scrape by on a wage that is ridiculously low-and as an extra added bonus runs a risk of being beaten by their employers. Then she might actually understand how lucky she really is.
She was fired by Fox news for Pete’s sake-why This Week wants to rehabilitate her already lame reputation is beyond me.
Glad I did not watch or tape it today.

ABC News is officially not news anymore.
Whose idea was it to book right-wing crackpot MICHELLE MALKIN?
A low-grade, “B”-level Ann Coulter like Malkin might fly with a FOX viewer, but ABC is supposed to be a REAL news source.
Not anymore.

Michelle Malkin spews venom. She wrote a book trashing the Obama presidency and had it published 6 months after he took office. Oh yeah, she’s a journalist alright. I watched her. She was soooooo out of her league it was silly. She’s so used to talking only to her followers. She uses phrases like counter insurgentcy when talking about her own government. This woman should not be given a forum in polite society. She’s just another hate monger.

Dear George,
I cannot believe that you invited Michelle Malkin to your round table. Why would you aim sooooooooooooooooooo low?
Posted by: michelle | August 3, 2009, 12:31 pm 12:31 pm
Greenspan is bound to be right once in a while. Barney Frank, Bill Clinton and Alan Greenspan are three of the prominent culprits behind the bubble that led to the collapse. Greenspan played a central role. As head of the Fed he kept credit too loose (and interest rates too low) for very long periods of time. This allowed, borrowers of all strips (consumers on credit cards , business doing acquisitions but particularly sub prime home buyers and home speculators) to fuel the gigantic bubble that led to the big collapse taking with it not only the incompetent financial firms but manufactures as well. Now we hear Greenspan touting cheap labor high immigration policies. There is little evidence that has any competence on this subject.

I tend to lean left, but I like a spirited, intelligent debate on ThisWeek. The right deserves better than Malkin arguing their case. Her rabid rants were so quickly and easily dismissed by the others at the roundtable. Peggy Noonan would have done a better job of representing that side… heck, even Krauthammer would have been much better. Let’s please never see her again.

I was really sorry for you during your last weeks round table. I am sure you were trying to be a gentleman, but Micheal Malkin is not just a hate filled bogger, she is not very intelligent. Others corrected her on several comments, but essentially just ignored her. Please don’t have someone as stupid as she is on again.

Likely this thread is dead, but in case anyone drops by… so where did we arrive at the unspoken assumption that the police have the right to arrest someone for simply being obnoxious? No one even challenged Michelle Malkin when she said people have to respect the police, when commenting on the Gates situation. No, we don’t. The police exist to enforce the law. When it became clear no law was being broken, it clearly was up to the officer exit the house. And to suggest that acting like an idiot is grounds for arrest? And to think that the whole thing lead to a beer at the White House for the arrogant jerk on the Cambridge Police Department, instead of at the least an official reprimand. That’s the policy the right-wing wishes to promote?
