Late this afternoon, the White House posted a new “Reality Check” – this one indirectly addressing former Gov. Sarah Palin’s thoroughly debunked assertion that the President health care push will ultimately mean her son Trig, who has Down’s Syndrome, will be denied medical coverage by a “death panel.”
In a video, Mike Strautmanis, the chief of staff for White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett – whose son is on the autism spectrum – appears to refute the claim that health insurance reform means children with disabilities won’t be able to get the coverage they need.
“That simply isn’t true,” Strautmanis says.
In fact, he says, the opposite is true. The president, for instance, wants to eliminate the ability of insurance companies to deny coverage for those with pre-existing conditions.
