Second Lady Touts Community Colleges
ABC NEWS' Yunji de Nies Reports:
In an upcoming essay in Forbes Magazine, Dr. Jill Biden touts the benefits of community college. Drawing on her own experience as a community college professor, Dr. Biden writes that the system is a financially sound way, particularly for working students, to get an advanced degree. "Three out of four community college students–and some of my best students–work while attending school. In my classes, I have men and women who rush to class at the end of a busy work day. I have single parents who come to school in the evening, weary from a long day yet eager to create a brighter future with more options for their children," she writes. The Vice President's wife hails the administration's recent push for increased community college funding (the American Graduation initiative), writing, " By supporting community colleges and by encouraging them to improve their graduation rates, the Obama-Biden administration is helping millions of Americans gain skills and confidence to lift the nation out of hard times. I can't think of a better investment. " Dr. Biden teaches English at Alexandria, VA's Northern Virginia Community College, and writes the students are what keep her coming back. "People sometimes ask me why I choose to teach at one and why I have continued to teach since moving to Washington, D.C. I'm always surprised by the question because there was never a doubt in my mind that I would stay in the classroom. The reason is simple: The students are inspiring. "

Obama: 'Now Is the Time For Common Sense Action'
Romney Takes Aim at Conservatives
I love VP Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden. Both are exceptional individuals; bright, loving, hardworking, and emphasize service to others within their lives and family. To know the Biden family is to see firsthand how important love and respect for family members and others evolves into secure and happy individuals, who have been taught the value of public service in their lives. One is always welcome in their home and everyone is equal; you understand no one is better than you and you are not better than anyone else. I’m glad that Obama sees the value in all that Jill has to offer…she’s a wonderful advocate for community colleges. She is a wonderful individual.
