Tennis in the Morning, Golf in the Afternoon for Vacationing Obama
ABC News’ Karen Travers reports: President Obama is making his first day of vacation on Martha’s Vineyard a sporty one. He started off the day with tennis with first lady Michelle Obama and is now golfing 18 holes at the Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs. Mr. Obama, donning brown long pants and a black golf shirt, teed off just before 1:30 and was joined by Dr. Eric Whitaker, a friend from Chicago; Robert Wolf, president of UBS Investment Bank and aide Marvin Nicholson. Onlookers gathered to watch the tee shot from the Duffer-in-Chief, who acknowledged the cheers with a few waves. “Hey man, how are you,” Mr. Obama said to someone in the crowd. “Good to see you man. No swimming right now.” A little boy was heard shouting, “Hi Obama!” Obama frequently hits the links in Washington but has admitted he is “terrible.” "It's a game that I keep on thinking I should be good at, and somehow the ball goes this way and that way and never goes straight," the president told a Russian television network earlier this summer. — Karen Travers

Can Mitt Romney Win Conservatives Back?
I remember George W. Bush being harshly criticized for holidaying, even though he also did a lot of the nation’s work at the same time.
I’m pleased the media have come to their senses and presidents won’t be subjected to that sort of thing in future.

Bush spent over 3 years on vacation. He wasn’t criticized for vacationing, he was criticizing for taking more vacation than any sitting president in modern history – by a large margin. His first summer vacation was 30 days of golfing, brush clearing, and mountain biking.

“Little Georgie did it, so don’t pick on Barry!” I am heartily sick of this kind of banter. Two wrongs don’t make a right. At some point the spouters of this nonsense have to realize that the President is responsible for his own actions.George Bush is no longer president-Mr. Obama needs to grow a pair and start LEADING.

And what Obama has done is take a 7 day vacation during the long summer Congressional recess at a location 500 miles from Washington DC. I have not seen any efforts by him to not take responsibility for this reasonable action.
Some have made the ludicrous implication that the media had attacked President Bush for doing the same sort of thing, when in reality they had not.

If right wingers had considered what Bush did wrong, you would have a point.

What work? Like ignoring the Aug 6th briefing entitled “Bin Laden Determined to Strike US” because there was brush to clear during the month that he was in Crawford?

Going back and listening to their constituents is also too important to wait on, even if it is a challenge to get the zealots to quit screaming out of turn so someone else can have a chance to speak.

Judging by Obama’s actual reading list, he prefers non fiction to right wing trash.

it is nice to be the King! Or in this case “The One”! Vacation while the economy is in shambles and we have war(s) going south! Well, at least he is not fiddling like Nero.
ps: Yes Bush went on vacation but there is a big difference between clearing brush on cheap land to hobnobbing with the millionaires in the Hamptons! And Bush, like Obama, was controlled by the bankers but, at least, tried to pull the wool over our eyes. Obama rubs our face in it!

What is weird about “RyanC”, or whomever pressure group is logged in under that moniker at the time, is that while I, and others, complain about Bush just as much as Obama the person(s) “RyanC” still insist, like a HaleBop Comet cultist, that Obama can do no wrong. I guess because he is, self-proclaimed no less, “The One”. Simply because Bush was bad, admittedly, doesn’t mean that Obama is good! What a joke to be caught in an infantile reasoning system that only allows two possible choices to questions that aren’t fed to you by the very two leaders’ funders in question! Not only does “RyanC” have the wrong answers he doesn’t even have the questions right! Sad state of affairs. Obama is bad, Bush is bad. They are owned by the same interests which is why they hire, basically, the same people, bail out the same banks, and continue the same war(s). Albeit under different rhetoric or salesmanship!

can you even find the ‘vineyard’ on a map? .. you will have to check your guns…you will only be allowed 3 ‘tree of liberty’ t-shirts per person….
and remember, the ‘disturbing the peace’ laws there are very strict…. beer or no beer…. ;-)

No President is ever really “on vacation”. They are still President & they are still working. The only thing they aren’t doing is going to dinners & other things like that. (And everyone here knows I have no time for Obama, but I won’t slam him for a lightening his workload a little bit). The President doesn’t have to be IN Washington to do his job.

I read this Obama vacation is costing 20 million total. Of course we only get details on the 35,000 portion of it. But it’s nice to turn on the tv and not see his face or hear his rambling rhetoric.

Republicans are solely responsible for the countries full demise. Just look at the inbreds who comment in here.
Republicans are those who say No Abortion, but won’t adopt.
Republicans are those who wear stiff clothes, act classy, and run off with a Venezualan street worker.
