Vacationing Obamas Go Out to Dinner

ABC News’ Karen Travers and Stephanie Z. Smith report:

President Obama and the First Lady had a night out on the town this evening, dining at Sweet Life in Oak Bluffs. This was their first night out since arriving on Martha’s Vineyard on Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Obama had dinner with the president’s half-sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, Dr. Eric Whitaker and Valerie Jarrett. The president greeted his fellow diners and shook some hands as he left the restaurant. Daughters Malia and Sasha did not attend dinner.

The area outside the restaurant in touristy Oak Bluffs was cordoned off by police but that didn’t stop curious onlookers from stopping to observe the scene.

About 200 people gathered outside the restaurant to try and get a glimpse of the president and first lady. When they left the restaurant, the crowd applauded, the president waved and then it was off to home.

Did they confiscate cellphones again this time?

You mean to tell me that this is newsworthy. My lord, give the President, First lady, and their guests a break!
