ACORN Reacts
In a press release, ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis says, that as “a result of the indefensible action of a handful of our employees,” the group will immediately stop accepting anyone into ACORN office for service programs, will conduct in-service training of staff, and begin an audit “to review all of the systems and processes called into question by the videos,” to be conducted by the group’s Independent Advisory Council.
The Council includes many prominent Democrats, including the man who helped President Obama Transition Team, John Podesta, President and CEO of the Center for American Progress; former Maryland Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend; Andrew Stern, International President of the Service Employees International Union; and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Henry Cisneros.
“We have all been deeply disturbed by what we’ve seen in some of these videos,” Lewis said. “I must say, on behalf of ACORN’s Board and our Advisory Council, that we will go to whatever lengths necessary to reestablish the public trust. For nearly forty years, ACORN has given voice to communities, and gotten results. Right now, our nearly 500,000 member are working their hearts out for quality, affordable healthcare for every American and to help stop the foreclosure crisis. We must get this process right, so the good work can go forward.”

Just a wild thought here … maybe an independent investigation would be more appropriate? Let’s open up the books and follow the money. That would be a good start at going “to whatever lengths necessary to reestablish the public trust”.

I absolutely agree, Paul. Any kind of investigation needs to be done by an independent group.
I also don’t think the average citizen has had this whole story explained to them enough to realize just how big this is. We are talking about fraud, corruption, illegal practices, informing other people how to conduct illegal practices “without getting caught”, and most certainly, immoral judgement. These things are happening, and are being allowed to happen, by the use of OUR TAX MONEY. That alone should draw the ire of ANYONE living in this country and paying taxes.
As I put in a blog last night, it took two “kids” a video/audio setup, and $1300 to expose ACORN. I don’t know about you, but it embarrasses me to know with all the “authorities” we have in this great country, it took 2 young people, willing to go to jail if necessary, to bring this mess to the forefront. It’s funny how their “doctored” videos got employees fired and now the group wants to transform themselves and get back the trust of the public. Hmmm….why would they need to do all that to gain back the trust…they didn’t do anything wrong, did they?

WOW! What a complete reversal from her earlier, defiant rhetoric! Someone has been enlightening her on how serious the

look at their “independent council” many prominent Dems… like we’re supposed to trust them? why not a totally independent group? At least ABC has someone reading the posts. I posted at 2:15pm that Bertha Lewis declared Acorn wouldn’t provide loan info, etc. til they had this council do its evaluation.(I got my news re: Bertha, from FOX ofcourse) Like I said, glad to see that ABC is reading the posted comments and verifying that the posts are correct, and then reacting with a new story on Acorn. Again ABC to little too late… FoxNews is fair & balanced and broke this origina news several days ago…but Charlie Gibson laughed and said the “cable channels” need to cover this type of story re: Acorn.

After watching these videos, I understand how the investigations into the sub-prime mortgage mess revealed landscapers, cleaning women and “performance artists” mysteriously making $300-400,000 dollars a year to qualify for homes (they were probably promised to sell a year later for double the profit).
Maybe a complete IRS audit would connect the ACORN sources with the politicians to finally nail these suckers? After all, I assume these applications have left a paper trail to someone.

ACORN looks to be an example of government at it’s worst. Criminal activity, squandering of money, and blatant political pandering using tax dollars to promote a certain political parties philosophy. The Beck tapes are the tip of the iceberg for alot of money laundering and taxpayer theft going on within this organization. ACORN is so spread out, and the money so well hidden. That is the problem. No accountability, no accounting. Shut it down. It won’t be missed.

This mess cries for multiple investigations. The FBI, the IRS and state law enforcement from every locations should be sifting through every record still in storage to see how deep the roots of this corrupt and POLITICALLY SLANTED organization really is.

Last time I checked, admitting to underage prostitution is a serious crime. Does Doug Giles, Senior Pastor of Clash Church know that his daughter Hannah admitted on tape to being a prostitute?
If ACORN had turned that tape over to the police first, then “Film maker” right-wing activist O’Keefe would be sitting in jail now, having already confessed to being a pimp for underage girls.
What exactly do right-wing extremists and their GOP politicians have against one of the largest organizations that assists minorities and poor folks with issues such as taxes, voter disenfranchisement, and census registration? Oh that’s right, it screws up GOP gerrymandering, voting fraud and tips the balance of power from the haves to the have nots. Guess that explains the constant demonizing. So many accusations, all thrown out in court as baseless….
Interesting that ACORN has “wasted” something like $50 million of our taxes over 20 years, compared to some right-wing front organizations that get double that annually.
Does it really surprise anyone that the folks that brought us Swiftboating, Birthers, Deathers, robocalls to voters to vote Dem on Nov 5th, and a neverending stream of fear-mongering, bigotry and easily debunked lies (throw enough BS on the wall and hope something will stick)… would pose as a hooker and a pimp. Considering the plethora of GOP hypocrites caught leading sleezy immoral double lives while claiming to be “family values” champions, this should surprise no one.
Seriously, maybe the police DO need to investigate O’Keefe and Giles for prostitution. Slap on the cuffs, confiscate their PCs, and lets see what kinda dirt they’re hiding…

Bushisms omits the full quote and context. Here it is taken from a CNN transcript when President Bush hosted President Arroyo of the Philippines. The discussion centered on terrorism, in the Philippines and elsewhere and the link with poverty:
“BUSH: And the poverty problem, listen, this nation is committed to dealing with poverty.
First, let me make it very clear. Poor people aren’t necessarily killers. Just because you happen to be not rich doesn’t mean you’re willing to kill.
And so it’s important to understand, you know, people are susceptible to the recruitment by these extremists, but I refuse to, you know, put a — kind of, put killers into a demographic category based upon income. After all a lot of the top Al Qaida people were comfortable, middle class citizens. And so one of the things you’ve got to do is to make sure we distinguish between hate and poverty.”

Mark, there is a difference between admitting to a crime and acting. What the filmmakers did is no different then what Sasha Baron Cohen does when he plays Borat …. they were acting, not admitting to a crime.
By the way “admitting to underage prostitution” is not a crime (unless you file a false report with police) … actually taking part in prostitution is the crime. People admit to things they didn’t do all the time. It’s a part of life. The Acorn woman in the video told her own lies. Should she be prosecuted for lying?

Has anyone asked themselves lately why we need to give millions of dollars to Acorn to register voters when cities, counties and states all maintain their own voter registration staff. In this day and age, it is easier then ever to register to vote … people can do it over the phone, over the internet, in person or through mail. Most states even spend their own money running registration blitzes to make it easier for people to know how to register.
Anyone who can pick up a phone book and dial a number can register to vote on their own. That in mind, why do we need Acorn going up to people in the parks or leaving WalMart trying to get them to register to vote?
Also, I’d like to see clear statistics on how many people Acorn actually helped with housing compared to foreclosure rates among Acorn clients. How many people who Acorn helps to buy a home ultimately foreclose. Who picks up those foreclosed houses? Most people when they buy a home, they work with the bank directly to get approved for a loan or their realtor helps them. This is another area where Acorn just seems to duplicate the services that others have traditionally provided, and I wonder what their success rate is with their clients successfully remaining in their homes over the course of 5, 10 or more years.
As for tax preparation services, during tax time, most churches and community groups come together, rallying their volunteers to provide free income tax preparation services. This is another area where Acorn just seems to duplicate what others are already doing without any government funds.

If ACORN was sincerely concerned about he behavior of their employees, they’d be thanking the journalists that uncovered it. Instead, they attacked the journalists and threatened them. A classic response of a corrupt organization.
If 2 young journalists can find this much corruption so easily, then any real investigation would uncover a wealth of problems and corruption.

I love it how the Republicans are just now standing up to Big Government. The GOP doesn’t want less government, they want their brand of government. Nevermind the fact they sat back for eight years and said and did nothing as GWB and the Republican Party cheered on the War on Terrorism, which was Big Government personified.
I am happy that ACORN is now being exposed for what it really is, but this does not make the Republicans “anti-government”. The Republicans throughout history have always stood for big government (corporate subsidies, inflation, wars, laws that negatively affect society, etc. etc. etc.)
I am not defending the Democratic Party, but if the Republicans wouldn’t do their evil deeds, we wouldn’t have the problems we do with the Democrats. The Republican Party is shameful to forget eight years of Bush and topple on the Democratic party because the GOP has lost it’s influence over American politics.
Dear Republicans, why do you paint the Democrats as evil and then turn around when you have the power and do far more evil things yourselves? I will give you a few hours to conjure up an excuse for that question, not an anser, but an excuse.

Taxpayer money does not go to ACORN to register voters though campaigns have hired them to do so.

Someone said: “You mean… they lied in an attempt to persecute an organization that helps poor folks in order to gain points for a political party that has a long history of stomping on the poor and middle-class???”
How does Acorn help poor people? Seems to me that they help keep people poor. Show me some statistics of how many people Acorn has helped to climb out of poverty. How many scholarships have they given out? How many people have they tutored to read? How many people have they helped with job interviewing skills or babysitting services while single moms interview for a job? These are services that help poor people out of poverty … ironically, they are services that Acorn does not typically provide.
Anyhooo, any attempt to make this about Republicans is a lazy, flawed argument. It’s not about party loyalty or scoring points. It’s about wanting to see tax dollars spent wisely. Anyone can see that.

People, this is our money being thrown down this and other rat holes. Outside of groups like the American Red Cross why do we support these organizations anyway? Let them stand on their own and then they can promote child prostitution and undocumented home loans on their own dime.

The issue is that ACORN employees with the funding of our government and primarily affiliated with liberal individuals and groups were CAUGHT by a couple of kids PARTICIPATING AND PROMOTING ILLEGAL ACTS. Not once or one person, but groups of two at a time. Did you notice that all were enthusiastic about bringing in minors for forced prostitution. No 12-14 year old girl says, you know what. Founded in 1970, the Catholic Campaign receives money from Catholics across the United States, mostly through second collections at the parish level or diocesan moneys budgeted from bishops’ appeals.
The U.S. bishops’ Catholic Campaign for Human Development aggressively funded ACORN as it undertook new voter registrations — mostly in states that Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama needs to win.
Research revealed that the bulk of new ACORN voters were registered in electoral swing states, like Ohio and Michigan, while larger states received only a fraction of the organization’s attention.
Starting in 2007 as ACORN ramped up its voter registration drive, the Catholic Campaign also ramped up its support for ACORN, awarding ACORN 37 grants totaling at least $1,037,000 — more than double the dollar amount in any one of the previous three years.
Interesting, considering the Catholic position on abortion.

There needs to be an independent FEDERAL investigation. We don’t need liberal democrats policing this “non-partisan” organization.
Given the alarm at the state level, governors and prominent state officials are already calling for investigations of their own. ACORN is going to get hit from all sides…and anyone who has seen the raw videos with an objective eye can easily understand why.

Charles Gibson a man I had respect for invoked the race card into this story. This is not about race and Gibson knows it is not. Yesterday he said he was not familiar with the Acorn scandal and today he puts up a story without all of the facts and adding some others.
Mr Gibson I have respected and trusted you for over 30 years. Tonight I found out I had trusted the wrong person. I believed you when you came into my living room. I am sadden – I will go away now wondering how many other times you have led me astray.

Time to use RICO statutes on this criminal oranisation…NOW!
Posted by: jd | September 16, 2009, 7:56 pm 7:56 pm
The funny thing is, that these wideos were from last year. It has nothing to do with Republicans, because ACORN has been
the sworn enemy of anyone saying no to them for any reason. They live in the race card, it is their bread and butter. The main reason Jesse Jackson want to ‘cut off his n*ts’ was because he was told that he was no longer needed. It was ACORN from here on out.
ACORN has been convicted in 11 states, indicted in 17, had the whole nationwide Catholic Church pull all it’s funding in November of last year. Why? Massive housing loan fraud, and accounting fraud from donations. A pretty sad day to rip off people in a pew.
The RICO statue MUST be applied here, because they are a continuing criminal enterprise. businesses have been shut down for less, and people put in prison for much much less. Starting an underage sex-slave operation and helping them? Are you kidding me?
Every business knows that the level of employee service is set by the management. That is why certain companies succeed where others fail. It is glaringly obvious in their case, coast to coast, there is a culture of deceit, corruption, tax evasion and cheating on loan applications on a massive scae.
Investigate now, or the country pays the consequences later. They are not to be trusted with tax money in any form. Not mine at least and I pay them.

Will someone connect the ACORN sources with the politicians? After all, I assume these applications have left a paper trail.

It posts the original document from The Consumer Rights League.”
Sourcewatch
“The Consumer Rights League (CRL) appears to be a front group for the credit card industry that was created to do battle with industry critics such as the Center for Responsible Lending and ACORN.
On July 17, 2008, CRL ran a full-page advertisement on page 5B of USA Today, arguing against a bill before Congress that it claimed would “pickpocket consumers” at the gas pump. The ad implied that the bill, the “Credit Card Fair Fee Act” (H.R. 5546) is anti-consumer (the same position taken by the Visa International credit card company.
The “Consumers Rights League” does not disclose on its Web site that it was started by Terry L. Kibbe, a former chief fundraiser for the Competitive Enterprise Institute and the Cato Institute. A March 2008 article in Forbes omits the details about Kibbe’s background, while quoting her Kibbe’s criticism of Self-Help Credit Union, the North Carolina-based relative of the Center for Responsible Lending, which advocates against payday loans. According to Forbes:
Terry L. Kibbe, a former think tank fundraiser who last year started a libertarian consumer advocacy outfit, Consumers Rights League, notes that Self-Help’s high delinquency rate–it’s seven times that of the typical credit union–proves that Eakes is as bad at judging borrowers’ ability to pay back loans as anybody else. Self-Help says less than 1% of its loans ultimately default.
CRL’s website contains several examples of anti-consumer-group rhetoric, but discloses no information about the group’s own funding, the site’s origins or who runs it.
A research report on the site appears to argue on behalf of the credit card industry, stating, “Most importantly, credit cards can provide inexpensive access to credit for low-income Americans, many of whom take advantage of 0% and low-interest rates to pay down debt.” ”
The lesson as always? Right wingers lie.

Of course, the truth is that Acorn hasn’t been convicted, or idicted, anywhere.
To see how absurd this media is, simply use the same logic in other circumstances. For example:

OMG… Republicans suddenly concerned about where our tax money is being spent???? Seems like this only happens when a Dem is in office. Two TRILLION dollar war in Iraq based on lies, where was the outrage from the right? $50 Million over 20 years for ACORN, a drop in the bucket, for an organization that attempts to assist low income folks with legal, voting and tax issues, and all of a sudden BAM, the right-wing hypocrites are screaming bloody murder about tax waste.
A few bad apples are entrapped into giving stupid advice and suddenly the entire organization is steeped in corruption (despite 0 convictions). Wall Street and banks “too big to fail” just stole a few hundred BILLION dollars of your taxes after nearly crashing the economy (decades of deregulation)and barely a peep from the Right. Oh, that’s right, that was a parting gift from Dubya so it’s OK.

At the risk of stating the obvious.. Well, NO DUH! Birthers, Deathers, “Mooslim Nazi Socialist”. When have you ever seen the rightwing lunatic fringe actually state “the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?”. Toss enough BS onto the wall and something is sure to stick. Right-wing nutjobs are a real embarrassment to the nation and what used to be REAL moderate conservatives.
The entire GOP appears to have been hijacked by extremists. I left the party years ago, about the time the Terry Schiavo fiasco made headlines.
Honestly, the world shakes it’s head in utter disbelief and disgust when it sees the sheer stupidity, ignorance, and folly of the Faux News crowd making so much noise…

Of course I knew the source.
That it was omitted was telling.
And yes someone gladly accepted the bait pointing out a front group for the credit card companies had produced the bogus statistic.
Posted by: Ryan C | Sep 16, 2009 8:57:41 PM
You haven’t proven it was bogus. In fact, you haven’t proven anything. All you’ve done is paste in a few paragraphs from information you found on the Internet to attempt to discredit someone.
By the way, because someone posts information that may or may not be true does not prove that the person lied. It only shows that they posted the information. Not providing a source is not telling at all.
In the past, I have asked for your source and your patented response is you’re not going to do all the work for me.
What IS telling, however, is that you seem not to care at all that ACORN may be wasting billions of dollars of taxpayers hard-earned money. You seem more concerned about your own short term pleasure of calling right wingers liars, stupid and racist.

The Hopeychangey stupes already know in their hearts that the magic is gone, and gone forever.
I always rejoice when it is proven once again that those who believe their government will make them happy are destined to discover what fools they are.

Maybe when the GOP Congress you 53 million elected to represent you decides to stop playing childish games and starts helping clean up the mess from the past 8 years, I’d be interested.
Or maybe when the GOP actually discovers that there is more to America than bankers, CEOs, and billionaires.
Or finally, maybe when they stop manipulating hoards of insecure and ignorant folks with hot button issues and blatant fear-mongering, then and only then, will I be happy to treat Republicans and their leaders as adults. Act like children, you’ll be treated like children.

JPT:
There are only two more days this week to report on this annoying ACORN news story.
ACORN spokesman Scott Levinson is quoted last Friday (8/11) stating that the tape was doctored and this is all “gotcha journalism”. He went on to say that it is all a “right wing setup” and an “orchestrated sham”.
ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis said “our lawyers are looking to go after Mr. Okeefe” and that this is “modern day McCarthyism”.
Now that we know that all of those above comments from ACORN were accurate,
the media should not report and investigate for any more information and should not seek the truth?
It may be more effective for the media to have former President Jimmy Carter (elected in 1976 because of the Nixon fiasco) do some new interviews. Carter could change the subject from facts and say the ACORN problems are all because of racists republicans that do not like black people to have good jobs at ACORN. That definitely would change the subject so the media can cover some more entertaining news.
Charlie Gibson could take a long weekend too and go back on his boat this Friday…

So now you’ve changed your focus from the nut jobs in the street to those in the Congress. What about the 52.95 million people that might engage you in a civil debate? Don’t they deserve a chance? And how do you know they all voted for Republican congressmen?
You think the bankers, CEOs, and billionaires just went away when the Dems moved in? How naive are you anyway? Besides most liberal politicians probably started out as trial lawyers or were from old money. They are only interested in using hoards of insecure and ignorant folks as victims to win elections. They’ve had 50 years to help them and what have they actually done for them? Nothing.
Your party acts the same way. It’s your perspective that’s different. It’s just that everything they do you see as warranted and justified.
There is plenty of blame to go around on both sides for the past 8 years. It’s been well documented. But I’m sure you won’t admit to any culpability. Liberals never do. That’s why your party can’t be reasoned with.
Ever hear of the civil war? This is very similar. The country is divided and that may never change. The only thing that came close to bringing us all together was 9/11 and that was short lived. Unfortunately, Bush going into Iraq stopped whatever chance the country had of repairing its differences. And these have been long-standing differences – not just in the past 8 years.
So go out and find one of those 52.95 million and have an open honest debate. You’ll feel better and less bitter.

changes nothing (actually accomplished more in 6 months than Dubya did in 8 years – try facts)
, spends more money (would you prefer Great Depression 2?, besides he still has a long way to go to reach 2 Trillion for Iraq or the 700 Billion giveaway that Dubya left Wallstreet),
increases deficit by unprecedented amounts (had a surplus at the end of Clinton, whatever happened to that, oh yeah, tax cuts for rich folk),
continues to blame Bush (who never fessed up to any of the mess he created),
passes an omnibus bill with thousands of earmarks (most from GOP) and says it doesn’t count against him because it was from the previous administration (many were, learn to research)
, buys a car company (bail out banks OK, save jobs BAD – typical Republican. maybe Sparky wants only Japanese cars? real patriotic of ya buddy),
hands out billions to groups that donated to his campaign (name a politician that didn’t, but feel free to provide some hard facts here),
insults the Brits by sending a Winston Churchill statue back to England (vs groping the German PM or bombing a toothless third world nation back to the stone age, yep a real foreign policy screwup he is – oh, right, 5 times better rep than Dubya worldwide),
goes on several apology tours (after Dubya, we had a lot of ill-will to defuse),
does nothing to help the young people in Iran (guess he shoulda nuked them like Cheney wanted eh?),
bows to the Saudis (vs holding hands with Prince Bandar “Bush”),
fails to attend church even though he’s deeply spiritual (on that one, you are simply wrong – at least he didn’t participate in a Skull and Bones satanic ritual like #43),
plays a lot of golf and spends a month on the Cape even though millions are out of work (vs cutting birthday cake for McCain while NOLA drowned or racking up more vacation time than any other POTUS in history – Dubya),
continues to campaign on the stimulus package, cap & trade, and health care with fake town hall meetings (vs GOP staged events with fake reporters like Jeff Gannon),
divides the country over race pretending they are teachable moments (vs pitting the nation against each other with GOP propoganda and BS “culture wars”),
has unprecedented access to media yet whines about Fox (who NEVER had a bad word to say about the POTUS and branded those who did as traitors prior),
reacts every day to the 24 hour news cycle although he says he doesn’t (vs handing out news briefs to FOX),
keeps many of Bush’s policies in force (true on some policies, reversed MANY that were utterly shameful).

… that elected Congressional GOP folk like Joe “You Lie” Wilson into office.
Believe it or not, I have a number of conservative friends and come from a conservative background. Sadly, with the likes of Glenn Beck poisoning their minds and the hijacking of the GOP by right-wing extremists, they are no longer rational enough to discuss politics with.
How do you have a conversation with someone who is incapable of critical thinking past Faux News bullet points?
How do you find common ground with someone who screams “socialism” yet when challenged cannot even come up with a definition for the concept?

Not true, I’ll be the first to admit that (to a lesser degree) they are also on the take from lobbyists, gutless spineless and petty. While the GOP is completely predictable about putting their own selfish interests ahead of the nation, the Dems are trying their hardest to be GOP-lite. Hence their plummeting poll numbers. 70% of the nation wants “single payer” healthcare, they give us watered down co-ops. Given enough time to learn how to play REALLY DIRTY politics, a lot of them will pass as moderate Republicans. And on that note, gnite.

I don’t know either. All during the campaign, their slogan was hope, unity and change. Even then, if you dared to oppose or criticize, they tore into you like rabid animals. Since Obama has been elected, you don’t hear those words coming from them anymore. Now, the new slogan to use is racist, liar and right wing nut job. I am sure Obama, at some level, knows what his supporters are doing in his name. We certainly wrote enough letters to him asking him to rein his supporters in. What most of us got back for our troubles was a form letter asking us to please donate to his campaign.
This hatred of anyone different thinking than them is totally irrational and is going to cause a backlash that well may be damaging. People are really getting tired of this along with the MSM refusing to cover the whole of Obama’s actions and to investigage his and members of his administration backgrounds. Something has to give. I just hope that when it gives, it will be in a way we can all handle.

This is actually funny. The Dems who were so confident and smug during the townhall meetings thought they had their 2010 re-election in the bag because 1)obama owns the census 2)acorn would be part of the census and they help dems win using all type of activities;
Axlerod dismissing the 9/12 protest was so smug thinking he has a plan for the 2010 elections utilizing ACORN…
Now I’m sure the dems are worried about passing their unpopular health care, cap and tax because there will be no acorn organization to help them get re-elected. Hopefully another sinister organization won’t pop up in its place. But I’m sure rahm emmanual and axlerod are working on this right now.

This Republican guy in California had sex with a lobbyist…. I think this is sufficient grounds to dismantle the GOP and place all its leaders in prison.
I once ordered three bean burritos from Taco Bell, but when I got home, there were only two in the bag. It’s time for the FBI to put Taco Bell out of business permanently.
If you pay attention to what right wingers are saying about ACORN, this is about what their logic amounts to: Destroy the organization because of the misdeeds of a few employees.
Why would they hold ACORN to a different standard than Taco Bell or the GOP?
I wonder if there is some OTHER reason that ACORN upsets them. Like, maybe there is something about ACORN that suggests they are ALL guilty.

Not mentioned on FoxNews are the other offices they went to where they were rejected including Philadelphia.

Philadelphia ACORN president Carol Hemingway said in a statement on Monday that “after causing a major disturbance, they were asked to leave the office, and a police report was filed.”

The thing that cracks me up is that some right wingers don’t buy that the woman who joked about killing her husband was joking even though her ex-husbands are still alive and she was hilarious when she was describing how she did it, and did appear to be yanking their chains. And good for her.
ACORN has had some issues over the years, and I think they should conduct an investigation on their own of these issues– I’m for accountability– but all the distortion and ginned up rhetoric against them is sickening.

bluedogone:
Keiki Care was not ill conceived. Rollover from the HMSA Children’s Plan was a ONE TIME event when Keiki Care started. After that most kids were required to be uninsured at least six consecutive months. The plan had limited benefits and out-of-pocket expenses which also discouraged parents from dropping private health insurance. Outreach was for the small targeted “gap group” kids and approximately 40 were enrolling per month. They were finally connected to a pediatrician which meant receiving preventive health care, regular attendance at school, and participating in normal childhood activities.
For those who don’t philosophically believe we should cover all kids with health insurance the same as we cover all seniors through Medicare, think about where your tax dollars should be wisely spent: inexpensive children’s health insurance programs or bailing out hospitals for uncompensated health care. In 2008 there were 3,302 total number of visits to hospital emergency rooms by uninsured kids in Hawai`i. The average hospital bill was $1,346 for a total of $4.4 million.

Now spend that money on AMERICAN poor children, feed them and cloth them. Give the money to scoll breakfast and luch programs.

“Let’s see- Obama represented ACORN.
Gee, that seems to make him their lawyer.
You see, Ryan, that’s what makes someone your lawyer- them representing you.”
ROFLMAO!
So I guess if I see a doctor once, he’s my doctor.
If I shop somewhere once, its my store.
The right wing has logic issues.

hmmmm… Obama donated $800K to this organization during the campaign… wonder why… for voter’s fraud services… or perhaps as investment into the prostitution business??
I think someone needs to do some investigation to find out why a politicial candidate donates money to an organization like Acorn during an election… when it is typically the other way around…
