GOP Rep: President Obama is “An Enemy of Humanity”

At the conservative How to Take Back America Conference over the weekend, Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., had some harsh words for President Obama.

Franks told those assembled: “Obama's first act as president of any consequence, in the middle of a financial meltdown, was to send taxpayers' money overseas to pay for the killing of unborn children in other countries. Now I gotta tell you, a president that will do that, here's almost nothing that you should be surprised at after that. You shouldn’t, we shouldn't be shocked that he does all these other insane things. A president that has lost his way that badly, that has no ability to see the image of God in these little fellow human beings, if he can't do that right, then he has no place in any station of government and we need to realize that he is an enemy of humanity.”

The video was recorded by the liberal People for the American Way, and reported by Alex Koppelman at Salon.

UPDATE: Franks' spokeswoman, Bethany Haley, tells ABC News that Franks “was specifically talking about abortion” and told her that “he should have said ‘unborn’ humanity,” as in: ‘President Obama is an enemy of unborn humanity.’

As to what Franks was specifically referring to when he said President Obama’s “first act as president of any consequence, in the middle of a financial meltdown, was to send taxpayers' money overseas to pay for the killing of unborn children in other countries,” Haley points to President Obama’s January 23, 2009 executive order reversing the ban that prohibits funding to international family planning groups that provide abortions, the so-called “Mexico City” policy.

He’s criticizing Obama? He must be ………. A RACIST!!

I wonder if he thinks the French are racist? Since they’re laughing at him. France! You know how we’re being looked at when FRANCE is laughing at us!
All because Obama didn’t want to “ruin the image of his speech”, his world peace no nuke speech, he put off confronting Iran. I’d laugh too if this wasn’t so damn serious!

This type of insane rhetoric (or perhaps cold, calculated rhetoric would be more accurate) coming not from wingnuts but *elected representatives* is the reason why the Republican Party can no longer be worked with or reasoned with in good faith. Saying the President of the United States “has no place in any station of government” and calling him an “enemy of humanity” is not only extremist but essentially incitement to assassination. It’s unbecoming any American, let alone one serving in the Congress, but is unfortunately par for the course in the modern Republican Party.
If I were the Secret Service, I would prevent Mr. Franks, and others like him, from getting anywhere near the President. That may be the only accountability for such dangerous, vicious statements. {ProfJonathan}

“calling him an “enemy of humanity” is not only extremist but essentially incitement to assassination.”
Calm down, Prof. Jonathan. Let’s walk through this: Rep. T. Franks believes that the unborn fall within the “human” umbrella. Obama has made funding available to other countries to apply towards abortions. Therefore, Obama could be considered an “enemy of humanity” given his support for abortion.
It’s that easy. No need for the “incitement to assassination” melodramatic overtones.

“He’s criticizing Obama? He must be ………. A RACIST!!”
Maybe he is, maybe he isn’t but, he’s certainly a right wingnut. How did Trent feel about his commander in chief when he failed to heed the warnings about 9/11 and then attacked the wrong country resulting in tens of thousands of American lives, and hundreds of thousands of Iragi lives, lost. Oh the humanity!
The Republican Party is devolving into a right wing splinter group.

Any hardcore Republican calling Obama an ‘enemy of humanity’ is blind and misguided. Republicans voting down healthcare for children in the past is a direct and callous disregard for childrens’ lives. Republicans are responsible for the death of tens of thousands of children in the Middle East via US ordnance. Republicans have proven themselves time and again as putting the almighty dollar and politics above human life.

Yes. Why don’t we start with Israel. They can pay for their OWN gov’t run healthcare, and their own wars for a change.

Jonathan Ezor – I live in France and speak fluent French, I read French news media and watch French television, and I can assure you, the French are not laughing at Obama. In fact, he is extremely popular with the French.

“Republicans have proven themselves time and again as putting the almighty dollar and politics above human life.”
Need I remind you (1.) Obama supports abortion (“anti-life”?), Republicans are “pro-life”. (2.) Since you brought up “putting the almighty dollar above human life”:
Selected top contributors to Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign:
2.) Goldman Sachs $994,795
4.) Microsoft Corp $833,617
5.) Google Inc $803,436
6.) Citigroup Inc $701,290
7.) JPMorgan Chase & Co $695,132
8.) Time Warner $590,084
11.) National Amusements Inc $551,683
12.) UBS AG $543,219
15.) IBM Corp $528,822
17.) Morgan Stanley $514,881
18.) General Electric $499,130
The majority of those entities not listed are universities (Univ. of Cal. #1) and law firms.

Obama was more worried about his image at the UN than to stand up to Iran. So Brown and Sarcozy had to do it.

Franks is right.
To send our money overseas for abortions as one of Obama’s first acts was pretty dispicable.
But that’s Obama.
The fact that he keeps a 50% approval tells where our country is headed.

Posted by: bco | September 29, 2009, 1:21 pm 1:21 pm

This stance, or lack thereof, taken by Obama on federally funded abortion is simply policy suicide.
Abortion is hot topic for over thirty years, a hot topic since Roe vs. Wade and the Hyde Amendment. Savvy politicians know to carefully tap dance around this issue of abortion.
However, a national health care policy forces direct confrontation of our abortion issue. Obama is attempting to tap dance around this abortion issue when he should not. Obama must confront this issue, must assume a clear stance either against funding abortion or in favor of funding abortion.
In essence, this refusal by Obama to be exceptionally clear on abortion funding is another nail in the coffin of a national health care policy; Obama is defeating his own efforts.
Those remarks by Trent Franks on abortion are simply attention getting rhetoric. This is acceptable.
Obama not setting a clear policy on abortion funding is unacceptable. His current vague stance on abortion highlights Obama the politician is naive, is inexperienced and is not qualified to be our president; Obama is shooting himself in a foot, he is his own worst political enemy.
Obama has doomed his own health care policy to certain failure through his constant waffling and slippery semantics. His is becoming a failed presidency, a one term presidency.

- In your latest post you state “by all means gloat about events that haven’t happened.”
- In prior post you stated in part “especially if you’re republican and will be out of power for a long, long time”
Are you not “gloating about events that haven’t happened” by stating Republicans will be out of power for a long, long time” (?)
Arguing with and exposing Libs is pretty simple once you move beyond the talking points they have been spoon-fed…they are lost when confronted with facts and situations which require critical thinking.

The rants of the vocal fringe right and their supporters makes for good comedy and nightly ‘news’, but it’s not where the majority is, and that will IMHO be proven once again in upcoming elections.

Michelle Bachmann herself does quite the job. I guess she is not a Republican nor is she a hero to the right.
“At this point the American people – it’s like Thomas Jefferson said, a revolution every now and then is a good thing. We are at the point, Sean, of revolution. And by that, what I mean, an orderly revolution — where the people of this country wake up get up and make a decision that this is not going to happen on their watch. It won’t be our children and grandchildren that are in debt. It is we who are in debt, we who will be bankrupting this country, inside of ten years, if we don’t get a grip. And we can’t let the Democrats achieve their ends any longer.”
“BACHMANN: If we look at American history, between 1942 and 1947, the data that was collected by the census bureau was handed over to the FBI and other organizations, at the request of President Roosevelt, and that’s how the Japanese were rounded up and put into the internment camps. I’m not saying that’s what the Administration is planning to do. But I am saying that private, personal information that was given to the census bureau in the 1940s was used against Americans to round them up.”

“And Democrats hold a 2.6 pt lead on Generic Ballots.”
…And Blue-Dog / Purple District Democrats are running scared.
Remember, Ryan – Obama has the votes for anything he wants, be it ObamaCare, cap-and-tax, etc. Obama’s star has lost it’s luster and Democrats in right-leaning districts/states are moving away from The One.

Be very careful. this kind of talk incites hate & violence. Shame on you ABC, for making this entertainment.
All hate groups have beliefs or practices that attack or malign an entire class of people, typically for their immutable characteristics.
White nationalist groups espouse white supremacist or white separatist ideologies, often focusing on the alleged inferiority of nonwhites. Groups listed in a variety of other categories – Ku Klux Klan, neo-Confederate, neo-Nazi, racist skinhead, and Christian Identity – could also be fairly described as white nationalist. The groups range from those that use racial slurs and issue calls for violence to others that present themselves as serious, non-violent organizations and employ the language of academia. For many years, the largest white nationalist group in America has been the Council of Conservative Citizens, a reincarnation of the old White Citizens Councils that were formed to resist desegregation in the 1950s and 1960s.
Hate group activities can include criminal acts, marches, rallies, speeches, meetings, leafleting or publishing.

“Denounced or not, the point is (a.) it was written, (b.) it was published, (c.) it was provided venues for sale.”
That is the cost of freedom of speech.
The difference is that it was countered with more speech denouncing it.
So do you think freedom of speech should have more limits?
“Lots of coordination and complicity here…regardless of NYT reviews.”
Like bulk buys and relentless promotion via partisan media?
Oh wait that’s how right wing books work.
“Again, imagine if similar book were written regarding Obama – Libs would be out of their gourds and bouncing off walls…”
Unfortunately not just liberals but all Americans have had to deal with REAL right wing violence as opposed to fictional.

The bush movie was foreign. No American had a hand in making that film. That was British, I believe. Second, who said, of the movie – “I think it’s despicable. I think it’s absolutely outrageous. That anyone would even attempt to profit on such a horrible scenario makes me sick”………………who said that?????? Answer: Hillary Clinton. …………where are the GOP leaders calling out their wackos?????? Is thereanyone , anyone at all, IN the republicans party who isn’t despicable? Who isn’t insane???? If you find someone, let me know. I’m waiting to hear so much as one republican leaders speak up as Hillary did and so many other democratic leaders. I’m sorry. DEmocrats are just better people. I’d trust, well, everything, in the hands of democrats before the crazy people. When I grew up, we had the more or less liberal Democrats, the more or less conservative Republicans, and then the crazy side show people talking about the blacks taking over and the end of the world and such.
Now we still have the (only-) more or less liberal Democrats, but the Republicans have been taken over or replaced by the crazy side show people.
The super-rich core of the GOP fanned these flames, in order to get middle class Americans to vote against their own interests, but the fire that they started got out of control. I hope that we can limit the damage to their house.

“….one of the steepest drops in first year recorded…” ——well, an interesting deeper look into polls reveals, while folks may have differing opinions on different subject matter, Obama’s PERSONAL ratings are very very high, still, untouched, by his political views. BEcause of his respectful nature and his ability ot handle himself professionally, folks have an easy time seeing the man and a policy. Unlike republicans, who behave so badly, have so little impulse control or respect, polls show that whatever question folks have on obama’s views does NOT benefit republicans infact, folks have very negative veiws of republicans not JUSt in politics, but MORE in behavior and personality. when asked, how much they trust republicans, those numbers have gone down. By trying to beat up on someone, you only make yourself look bad. Isn’t this something you were supposed to learn in first grade? bad behavior says far more about YOU than the person you’re being disrespectful too. This south carolina senator. Does any think one thing different from Obama because he was so disrespectful?????no. not one tiny tiny little bit. In fact, it makes folks feel bad and supportive to whoever is getting beat up on, BUT it sure did throw an enormous amount of disgust toward the senator. the person who’s life changed the most, is the senator who behaved badly. To Obama, it was an insignificant blip.

“the panic by the right to buy as many guns as they can get their hands on because the government is ‘coming to get you’..”
The surge in guns/ammo sale is not because “the government is coming to get you” – There is a concern that guns and ammo will become less accessible and/or highly taxed.
“the hitler nonsense, etc..”
Pelosi: “Swastikas.” Harry Reed: “Evil-Mongers”. Steny Hoyer and Pelosi: “Un-American”. Yep, I agree – the propagation of these labels needs to stop.
“any armed revolution talk supported by republicans is dangerous…”
A significant reach. Who would the citizenry fight? The armed forces are overwhelmingly conservative – Do you suggest citizens will take up arms against (a.) family members, and (b.) an armed force with views similar to their own? C’mon…

“Did it ever – I know it is a stretch for you – consider that Bachmann was using the term “armed” as in “armed with information”?”
In the context of Jefferson’s call for a little revolution now and then?
“BACHMANN: I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back. Thomas Jefferson told us having a revolution every now and then is a good thing, and the people — we the people — are going to have to fight back hard if we’re not going to lose our country. And I think this has the potential of changing the dynamic of freedom forever in the United States.”
More Bachmann insanity
““This cannot pass,” the Minnesota Republican told a crowd at a Denver gathering sponsored by the Independence Institute. “What we have to do today is make a covenant, to slit our wrists, be blood brothers on this thing. If you truly believed that life begins at conception due to biology or religion or a mix of both, and your president was a supporter of millions of abortions – even late term abortions where the baby survived only to be left to die, wouldn’t you consider him “An Enemy of Humanity”? —-the problem with you people is not just that the crazy ones say inciteful, hateful, disrespectful things, but that the rest of you defend it. I would NEVER use such language as saying ANYONE is an enemy of humanity unless they carried out ethnic cleansing or dropped a nuclear weapon. I’m talking huge huge world events. That someone has such horrendously bad judgement, that would view having a prochoice view as being anywhere near similar to ethnic cleansing or nuclear holocaust, tells me mentally incapacitated he is, and those who defend him are. That is some VERY VERY bad judgement. It’s immature and since such immaturity is in a person who actually makes laws and has power, that’s scary. Just makes me think we need these types of poeple ,these extremists, out of office – no not Obama, these people like the one who made the speech. I am prochoice. I find it highly offensive any man is going to call my view akin to ethnic cleansing. That is so over the top, so out there, it’s beyond comprehension to me. That you would ask this question tells me how much you are I are no where near eachother in our thoughts, how I would not trust a hair on your head in office, and be worried, my friend, becuase I used to a republican supporter, ok??? you have former moderate republicans feeling this way, do you have nay idea how your extremist views are decimating the republican party as a whole PLENTY of republicans are prochoice. WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday easily rejected the inclusion of a government-run “public” insurance option, backed by President Barack Obama, in its sweeping healthcare reform bill.
The panel voted 16-8 against a government-run insurance plan in the first of several battles expected in Congress over the issue, one of the most contentious in the raging U.S. debate over healthcare

Democrats crammed though the (failed) “stimulus” bill. No doubt about that. Obama & Cronies then proceeded to try same tactic with ObamaCare. By this point, the American public had begun to notice that (a.) President Obama wasn’t the person as Candidate Obama, and (b.) while the administration forecasted “unemployment would exceed 8% if the ‘stimulus’ bill was not passed”, unemployment exceeded 10%, causing a breach of credibility for Team Obama. Dems in right-leaning districts/states have now started to scatter.

This is absolutely beautiful. Apprently the oaf Harkin didn’t check in with the Finance Committee before he put his foot in his mouth:
“Not only is U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin claiming that he has the votes necessary to pass a health care reform bill with a public option in the U.S. Senate, but that he has a ‘comfortable’ majority to do so.
“Harkin, who recently took over as the chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, asked The Bill Press Radio Show, ‘Why shouldn’t we have a public option?’”
Remember, Harkin is the left-winger who got caught lying about having been a “combat pilot” in Vietnam.

The Democrats are a little wacko at times too, but the Republicans have let the crazies out of the asylum. Romney was what I liked in a strong politician but he has not called them on the carpet so he is on my list. Not to mention that any Republican who has spoken up has been ostracized; especially McCain. Independents need to step up and start talking to the PEOPLE and I guarantee more of the American people will listen. In January, the CBO told us that, without a “stimulus,” the recovery would begin in the quarter that ends tomorrow. So if it has begun, it’s right on time, except that these fools have added a useless and unnecessary $787 billion to the deficit (more than Bush spent on the liberation and Democratization of Iraq).
But what the heck–if that grotesquely irresponsible bit of spending keeps cap-and-trade and the government healthcare takeover from passing, it was worth it. Too bad it will keep unemployment above 9% for years to come.

Posted by: Fascist Hyena | September 29, 2009, 4:26 pm 4:26 pm

First of all, he lied about Obama sending money overseas to fund abortions. NO FEDERAL FUNDS are paying for abortions, here or overseas. He eliminated the “gag rule” which meant that any facility that even mentions the word “abortion” cannot receive any funds whatsoever. The funds these agencies are now receiving are strictly limited to non-abortion services such as prenatal care, pediatric care, family planning services (not including abortion), and all such agencies are required by law to maintain separate funds for abortions. So the entire premise of this man’s outrageous statement is utterly false. And he knows it. YOU LIE, Congressman, YOU LIE!

right wing matrix. The truth is Bush ran us into a hole in the ground. We were losing over 700,000 jobs a month, the financial and housing markets were crashing. 500+ point single day drops in the Dow were common.
President led us out of the hole. There still work to do. One way you can help out is to buy American and hire American. Many right wingers call tha protectionism. I call it patriotism.
Congratulations to President Obama,
on saving the American tire industry after China violated trade agreements.

Oh, that’s really funny. The dems were really civil and honest when Bush was President, weren’t they? The biggest difference is the media covered the Bush bashing as funny.
The worst thing about this President is he is only interested in his own agenda, cares nothing for the U.S. He will throw anyone under the bus that gets in his way. Just ask Wright, Ayers, and ACORN! The media ignores these because they think they are on the bus with him. They better be careful. One wrong move, and he will cut them off at the knees. Chicago politics at its best.

Yes, they (the Left) did it first and did it much, much better…their excoriation of Bush was hateful, constant, and unrelenting. Much better than the Right could ever do (if nothing else, liberal media bias holds the Right in check).
A notable difference between Bush and Obama is the thickness of skin: Bush rolled with the criticism, Obama chafes and becomes defensive when confronted and criticized.

Democracy scored a triumph today. The war is not over, but in this skirmish the forces of Socialized Medicine were routed:
“In the end, Baucus and four other Democrats — Sen. Kent Conrad (N.D.), Blanche Lincoln (Ark.), Bill Nelson (Fla.) and Thomas R. Carper (Del.) — joined all 10 Republicans on the committee in voting against the Rockefeller amendment. On the Schumer amendment, Baucus, Conrad and Lincoln voted with the Republicans to defeat it.”

You people shame me that you are call yourselves Christians. You have the nerve to talk about someone being an enemy of humanity, when you turn your noses up a people in need. Your constituents constantly bash the poor and down-trodden, calling them lazy and welfare recipients. You fight against those who need health care placing a price on them and whether they can even afford it. You fight against “illegals” only when you need to appease your hateful constituents; else the “illegals” are okay if they’re carrying a leaf-blower or buckets of paint. You have the audacity to point “enemy of humanity” finger at someone else. Do you even know that the unborn are now those people who you fight against every single day??? You gonna sit on your high horse and think you’re closer to God because you care so much about embryo’s and that’s supposed to make you like God. Woe unto you, you Pharisee’s! Woe unto you! You have blood on your own hands by turning your backs on people that are ALREADY HERE! You suck the financial life out them, and then say “look, these people can’t even take care of themselves”. THEY WERE ONCE THE UNBORN, YOU HYPOCRITE! Stop with your shenanigans. We were warned of you who call a lie the truth and the truth a lie. You accuse Barack of being an enemy, well show where he’s aborted his own children. HYPOCRITE! While your daughter’s and son’s pretend that they don’t have intercourse before marriage, are sneaking into abortion clinics to rid themselves of their own babies! If you cared so much about humanity, then why when the Republican’s had the entire King’s Horsemen on the Supreme Court, did they not overturn Roe vs Wade? Cause it wasn’t all that important to them either!! Let it go, we’ve got your number dude! You are not wise, loving or caring, but WICKED!

The left started it? What is this, third grade?
But for the record…two words: Bill Clinton.

“It was meant to incite action – The difference is you want to see it as a ‘call to arms and violence’ for ideological convenience. I see it as a call for action to become more informed of issues, to get involved, to get voices (not arms) heard.”
Nonsense. There is a climate of intensity, constructed via fabrication and distortions, and it was deliberately designed to incite the aggression in citizens who, like you, have been TRAINED like puppets to attack ANYTHING Obama, to bring about a so-called self-fulfilling prophesy of doom for the current administration.
I absolutely believe there are those in the GOP who would be silently pleased if Obama were killed.
Given the fact Obama is our first black President, riling the ignorant and the racist faction of our nation in such an aggressive “take no prisoners” manner is UTTERLY IRRESPONSIBLE AND BEYOND DEPLORABLE.
and
“C’mon Ryan, admit it. Your hero Obama, only 9 months in office, is turning into nothing short of an epic failure.”
You’ve been well trained, too, I see, at prematurely calling Obama a failure, in your hopes that he WILL fail and you can say you called it.
Then your party can say, “See, you should have gone with us.”
Transparent. Intellectually dishonest. Deplorable.
The party cares more about its ego and its power lust than it does about making life better for ALL Americans.
Obama is being villified for wanting to ENHANCE the lives of ALL. I wonder if you folks ever voiced opposition to the scores of innocents being slaughtered at Bush’s directive.
I have lost ALL respect for the GOP and its current flock of sheep.

“Traitor? Why didn’t you use the latest anti-Obama smear characterization ‘racist’? That seems to be the latest accusation for anyone who disagrees or is critical of this man. I think ‘traitor’ is rather partisan.”
Yes, to you and your ilk it SEEMS to be the latest accusation, but that’s because your MO is twisting and about absolute superficial analysis.
There IS a racist component in the hostility towards Obama and to deny it is simply intellectually dishonest.
Unless you’ve conveniently forgotten the violence of just over forty years ago, as African Americans fought for their civil rights.
Or unless you’ve conveniently forgotten the racial tension during the Simpson trial.
Need I go on?
NO ONE has said anyone who disagrees with Obama is a racist, so enough already.
However, there is clearly an element of disrespect and hostility towards Obama and given how brief his stay in office has been, it is reasonable to surmise that there are issues of racial tension at play.
Franks a traitor?
Well, actually, I think that any elected official who runs his daily political life as if he wants this nation to be a theocracy, not a democratic Republic, is betraying the true ideals of the nation, yes.
And I do think Franks betrays his nation when he uses careless and ugly vitriol about the President that will undoubtedly rile the unstable and angry among us.
When the election was underway, I truly did not believe our nation was mature enough and ready to have a black man in the White House.
On election day, I was convinced.
Now, I’m not.
I believe THAT is what is really happening. We are WITNESSING firsthand our own immaturity as a nation and as a culture.
And it aint pretty.

That was a joke right? the media has given BO a pass from day one… do you actually think that If Bush had been involved with Acorn there would not have already been a criminal investigation? What if Bush had put 35 czars in place – think that would have went unnoticed? What if 4 or 5 of them were card carrying socialists, and marxists? I’m sure the media would have just blew that off too as a non story..
Bush was investigated for two years on his guard service.. have you seen any investigations into Obama’s work with ACORN?
Obama gives a speech to school children and some questions are raised about the propriety of a government produced study guide.. just questions thats all.. when the senior Bush was VP, he addressed publics schools and the Dems in congress launched an investigation to see if he could be prosecuted for misuse of government funds.
Joe Wilson is blasted for saying “you lie” (when in fact it WAS a lie) but no one said a word in 2005 when Bush was Booed REPEATEDLY by dems during his State of the union address..
Bush gets castigated because he spent 4.5 trillion in 8 years, yet no one says a word when this president spends 1.8 trillion in his first 8 months.
Everyone loved to mention that even though the unemployment rate under Bush was 5%, the “true rate” was over 10% when you considered everyone who had expended their benefits.. yet now NO ONE in the media is mentioning the fact that those same “true rates” are over 20% and rising for Obama…

“Learn to critically think…I cited OJ Simpson to illustrate that we are still very much a nation divided over race. THAT was once again made vivivdly clear when all hell broke loose over the Simpson trial.
Actually all hell did not break loose over the Simpson trial..It broke loose over the Rodney King trial. When a white jury aquitted a black man (simpson) for a crime he most probably committed, there were 0 riots. When whites were aquitted for beating a black man (King), there were riots and looting in the streets.. and you cite this as an example of existing racism in America.. when in fact its an example of just the opposite.. Blacks responded to a bad court decision against a fellow black person with riots, while a miscarriage of justice that benefited a black man went without incident in the white community.
Too late for you to quit while you are ahead.. I suggest you change topics and try to find something you can argue with at least some semblence of reality.

Believe it or not, as a conservative, I agree with you on that to an extent.
The principle is “to every man based on his ability” as opposed to the socialist principle of “to every man based on his need”. It IS what this country was founded on.. that every man would have the unfettered opportunity to excel based on his own personal ability. With that unfettered ability also comes the ability to fail. It is a side affect of liberty. Binding the individual in a “safety net” may prevent initial individual failure, but it dooms the entire society to eventual failure.

Just a quick lesson for you.. Providing Hope is the job of the Clergy, your family, or your friends.
The job of a president is to provide RESULTS against a need for the nation.
In his first 245 days, the president gave 260 speeches. It might sound good, but HOPE does not return jobs, right the economy, win wars, or stymie despots and their aspirations (Iran, Afganistan, etc).. the election is won, the time for talk of Hope is over..the question now is whether or not this president has anything to offer other than nice speeches.. so far, apparently not.

Bill O’Reilly came out with a delicious half-truth just last Thursday. During his “Pinheads and Patriots” segment, he said: “A new study by Sacred Heart University in Connecticut says that Fox News is THE most trusted television news network in the USA. 30% of Americans say FNC is their most credible source of information. Second was CNN at 19%. Waaay down the list – NBC news 7 ½ %. For doing the study, the folks at Sacred Heart are patriots.”
But, Spinmeister O’Reilly conveniently left out the next sentence in the study: Fox News was also the television news organization trusted LEAST.
Fox News was waaay at the top of the least trusted list with 26%. Distant runners-up were NBC News and MSNBC, both with less than 10%.
File that under The Spin of Omission.
(And why do I get the feeling that arkie vet will pooh-pooh Pulitzer Prize winning PolitiFact as a source for disproving Foxy lies?)
