House Will Vote on ‘Disapproval’ of Joe Wilson Comments

ABC News' Jonathan Karl reports: The House of Representatives will vote next week on a "resolution of disapproval" condemning Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst during President Obama's address on Wednesday, unless Wilson formally apologizes on the House floor, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office tells ABC News. Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly said the House will vote either Monday or Tuesday on the resolution. House leaders will give Wilson, R-S.C., a choice: either apologize on the House floor or face the vote on the resolution, he said. Wilson has apologized publicly and privately for yelling "you lie!" at the president during his address, but he has declined to do so in a formal manner on the floor of the House.

tell pelosi to appologize for her lies about the cia. in the mean time joe wilsons, albeit inapropriate in that venue, will be the lightening rod to make sure illegal immigrants do not benefit from this health care bill or the president will be the focus of who is telling the truth.

Catman, can you read? Read the section in H.B. 3200 which specifically PROHIBITS any illegal alien from participation. Wilson was rude and WRONG! There is NOTHING in this proposed bill to allow anyone OTHER THAN LEGAL CITIZENS from participating. Sheesh!

Posted by: cheryl8122 | September 11, 2009, 1:36 pm 1:36 pm

cheryl…i can read but its not a bill yet and there is plenty of time to put in a late night ammendment. this will ensure that doesnt happen. we all saw the shennangins of the stimulus bill. i agree he was rude and should not have done it but it will serve a purpose.in the meantime we are paying billions in california for illegal immigrants health care. his stupidity will protect us all.

Cheryl8122 – The Congressional Budget Office came to the conclusion that this is in a ” gray area” and may allow some illegal immigrants to take advantage of this. If the Pres. really doesn’t want it – then he should come out directly and say – no benefits for illegal immigrants. The fact that he wont answer directly is concerning. The Pres. has left open too much for Congress to decide on this entire bill- Many of us dont want the fate of our health and healthcare system left to the midnight govt. staffers to throw all THEY WANT into the bill at the last minute the way they did with the so called stimulus bill.

I think a majority of Americans would agree that Wilson needs to be punished for his blatant disrespect of the president.

Posted by: matt | September 11, 2009, 1:49 pm 1:49 pm

Joe Wilson is the only one in the room the other night that spoke the truth. Anyone with any common sense knows Obama intends to make all the illegal aliens American citizens. That’s how he will get around it.

I see no need to punish Wilson for disrespecting the president. Respect is earned and so far in his 8 months as President he has not earned any. That speech was nothing but a lecture to those that disagree with his policies.

Of course he should be disciplined, he’s basically telling everyone he was forced to appologise. He’s now painting himself as the Voice of Reason for the Right Wing Lunatics and selling Tee Shirts. He’s not sorry for making the US look like Fools on the World Stage. He should be thrown out of office and I will donate to anyone running against this idiot.

I do believe that it was a rude thing to do. However, it does show how upset people are over this proposed bill. The fact is that the president has been lying about how this bill he is suggesting is going to work and who it is going to cover, not to mention how it is going to be payed for.
Also, when are you supposed to be able to confront people about these things? I thought the House was supposed to be a place where you debate things? Why go there and give a speech when you have no intention of answering any questions or allowing any negative feedback?

Posted by: pt | September 11, 2009, 2:05 pm 2:05 pm

Whether you agree with the plan or not Barack Obama is still the PRESIDENT. The least Wilson couldve done was respect the PRESIDENT while he’s giving a speech. He is an embarrassment no only to himself, his family, and his state with their disgraced govenor, but as an “elected leader” he is a disgrace to the congress and nation and I cant wait until he’s unseated next election

Posted by: Javon | September 11, 2009, 2:15 pm 2:15 pm

The real question is how will Obama enforce that illegal aliens aren’t eligible for coverage?? What is the procedure to prove what you need to show to prove you are eligible for coverage?? That is the loophole otherwise why would the Dem’s specifically reject Joe Wilson’s amendments to establish rules needed to enforce the above. We should all be thanking Joe for bringing this to light.

People, wake up! If, that is IF, any passed bill does not allow illegals to be covered, all the Dems have to do subsequently is pass a bill making the illegals legal. They have the votes to do it. American voters of both parties never cease to amaze and alarm me. What our attention needs to be on is getting them out of here and keeping them out – otherwise, we have ceased to be a sovereign nation. America, pleasel STOP falling for the fast talk from the candidates of the two parties – they say what they have to say to get your vote and then do as they please without regard to our welfare.

How about Congress stop playing politics, and start being representatives? Obama clearly was referring to Sarah Palin regarding “Death Panels” and he called her a LIAR.
Study up on the constitutionality of the “illegals” part of the bill. It is very likely that illegals will be covered.
And, “Death Panels” are not named in the bill, but when the government claims they will cut Medicaid costs by $500 Billion without telling us how, don’t you think it is a fair thing to question?
COME ON PEOPLE – WAKE UP!!! Almost all politicians are crooks and power grabbers. Stop fighting amongst yourselves and apply some logic.

The bill states unequivocally benefits will not be provided to anyone in the US illegally. It is not uncommon for bills not to state the method for checking for citizenship. That is normally provided in implementing regulations. Commentors who state otherwise should go back to hunting for WMDs. Wilson is nothing but a coward.

Free Speech is one of our basic rights!
Wilson may have been out of line but he
had every right to criticize the
president!
The Whitehouse is spearheading an attack
on free speech and the American people
had better stand up and listen.
First we had the Whitehouse telling
citizens to send them the e-mail
addresses of other citizens who
criticize the president’s healthcare
proposals.
Next we have the Whitehouse sending
a school curriculum to be followed by
the nations schools to coincide the
president’s address to our school
children.
Authoritarian governments call this
indoctrination!
Now we have the House of Representitives
which is dominated by the president’s
Party(Democrats) voting on a
“Disapproval” of Joe Wilson’s

In 2005, Dems howled, hissed and shouted “No!” when Bush pushed for Social Security reform in the SOU: “Foreshadowing the contentiousness of the coming debate, Democrats broke decorum and booed twice,” according to the National Journal.
At the time, CNN’s Bill Schneider remarked, “It was unusual. I had never heard it at least at that level before. The Democrats clearly were booing, heckling, saying no when the president talked about the crisis in Social Security.”

The man already apologized and apparently President Obama accepted so why the drama (and it IS drama)? I’ve never heard a liberal democrat apologize (except Janet Reno) for anything they’ve ever done. The dems are just a bunch of self-righteous people who have no business dmeanding any apologies.

I can see that a lot of people slept through civics class in junior high school and american government class in high school. The President signs the bill passed by both houses of Congress; the President does not make the laws without the consent of Congress.
And I can also tell that so many people are dancing around one central fact that underpins the disrespect the southern republicans have for Obama….he’s a black man and it was not that long ago, the white elite did what was possible to prevent the black people from voting, drinking from the same water bubbler, sitting in the same area in a restaurant. It goes beyond the R word…racism…it was a way of life not that long ago, and by the expressions of disrespect seen on the faces of some of the republicans, it is still alive today. They do not see Obama has the lawfully elected President, let alone their “equal.”

Are illegal immigrants/undocumented workers/whatever, currently being covered? YES. They go to the emergency room. How will that change with any healthcare system?? The reason they get covered now is because we, as a society, decided that people needing emergency care should have it no matter what. Instead of moaning and groaning that healthcare reform will give healthcare to illegals (which they have under the current system), why not go out and protest about corporations providing them jobs and drawing them to our country where they will need government assistance?

Greedy Oppressive Pharisees (GOP). You all talk the talk, but don’t walk the walk — Holier than though, Pharisees. You all need to check yourselves. And now John “Chip-on-the-shoulder-Loser” McCain just can’t stand watching this brilliant Black man standing at the podium and leading this Country with “class and dignity”, not hate and arrogance, not doubt the way McCain would have — more of the same. But, the best man won the Presidential Election, McCain. Grow up, or retire from the Senate you bag of hot air. I am proud to be an American today. May Senator Ted Kennedy’s dream of health insurance for all become a reality inspite of the GOP “LIARS”!

I think medicare will save a heckuva lot of money, not through these ridiculous claims of death panels, but with scrutiny of the pricing system. Such as those wheel chairs that cost medicare 4 to 5 times to rent than they cost to buy outright. What about those “free” medical supplies for diabetes sent right to your door with medicare being billed? At what rate are they billed? What about the differential cost of services between the Mayo Clinic and some clinics in the south? Mayo can be half the cost of the Texas clinics…why? That is the waste that is already happening, folks!

Wilson was rude and wrong and should do as congress dictates. On another note, it makes me kind of sad that “good Christian” Americans would deny decent health care to anyone who needs it. It comes down to a moral issue for me. Jesus would never turn his back on another living being because it costs some money.

How anyone who voted for GWB can have enough nerve to call President a lair is either blind or stuid . Because all GWB and his hitman Cheney did was lie to all of america and the rest of the world . And made us a laughing stock around the world . At least President Obama is trying to help people . And as much as I disagreed with GWB I would have never disrespected the office of the president of the United States of America . Joe Wilson was dead wrong …

Posted by: Rick M | September 11, 2009, 3:44 pm 3:44 pm

It amazes me how right wingers forget the past eight years of Bush. He lied about Iraq war and no one including the media called him a liar, didn’t seek the truth and allowed this idot to kill hundreds of people including our own US citizens. You justify Wilson’s outburst like you justified Bushs and Cheney’s outrages war. Is this really about illegals or a black man as president? John McCain and Bush were going to give anmesty to all illegals so what is your beef?

The dems in 2005 joint session regarding our Social Security, booed loudly president Bush when speaking of Social Security concerns. They refused to apologize. Nancy Pelosi called the CIA liars, these people have spent years keeping us safe! She refused to apologize. Democratic Murtha called our troops nothing short of killers, which prooved to be wrong and refused to apologize. John Kerry called our troops about the same, which he refused to apologize. Barbara Boxer and other democrats call “us” american people Nazis and brown shirts…they refuse to apologize. The Department of Homeland Security this year warned our law enforcement of Christians, Veterans and Conservitive voters Terroist to be watched! Shall I go on? This man immediately apologized, something that hasn’t been done on the other side? NOT one WORD FROM THE MEDIA. NOT ONE! But yet they have politicized this to death, but yet forget to “report” things that are important. I think we are all living in the Twilight Zone, when it comes to politics!

Thank you Linda Morrison for your comments. You’ve stated things perfectly. It amazes me how the liberal democrats waste more time on these situations but tend sweep their poor judgments and thoughtless comments under the rug (except for Janet Reno). Pelosi and her buds offend me all the time with their comments but I, and the American people to whom they’ve offended never get an apology from them. Liberals tend to spend more of their time blaming and looking down their noses at the rest of us rather than really getting anything done. Maybe if President Obama and his buds would try working with the Republicans and the rest of us themselves, we might get the economy and healthcare issues ressolved in a mature sensible manner.

The above comment is always a automatic response when someone doesn’t agree with someone who happens to be black. I am a southerner. And to be honest. I was kindof excited about Obama, at first when he ran. He was a wonderful speaker and motivator, and I wasn’t happy with Hillary or McCain. BUT then I watch and seen his record. I heard of those who surrounded him and pulled up his voting record and read about his connections. I then saw a different person. I am sick and tired of hearing people constantly play the race card. Racism sir, works both ways. The 60′s are over. I lived it, saw it and hated it! But it is over and Americans shouldn’t have to keep apologizing for the mistakes of others in the past! You have no control over what someone else does, and frankly I and others get tired of having to constantly defend the past, for which we had no part! Sure there are some people in all areas of our country who are racist or bigots. But lumping all southerners together as racist is unfair and untrue. Most of us that are against Obama are against his policies, not him as a black man. He is a man with radical views who happens to be black, and that should not keep us from being critical, if so, then who is the racist?

I think if Mr. Wilson had a problem with what our president said, he could have found a better time and place to have a conversation with him about it face to face.
One more thing I have to say is this, I may not have always agreed with what President Bush did, but if someone disrepected him like that, I would want them to be punsihed.

Posted by: What's really going on? | September 11, 2009, 4:23 pm 4:23 pm

Whether it is in the bill or not, look at the proposition in California that was declared unconstitutional that prohibited funds spent on illegal aliens. I do not know the exact area, but the Constitution prohibits disallowing any benefits to any group that is in the country, legal or not. California tried to appeal and lost twice and the Supreme Court would not hear the case. By having the public option, illegals will be covered!! We just think we have a problem now. Wait till that happens and don’t stand at the border because you will be trampled to death.

And that is the problem with America….too many people are used to such boorish behavior from watching FOX news and listening to Rush Limbaugh…And these people are the first to object when such boorish behavior is brought upon them..Calling the President a liar on the floor of Congress deserves condemnation. It amazes me that people have fought for equality for so long and so hard and yet everytime that these same people get treated with equality, all of sudden it’s that same kneejerk reaction that it’s all about race or gender. I’ve said this before and got clobbered but I say it again because it’s still true. We will never be a nation of equality unless BOTH sides (for lack of a better word so no one needs to get on their high moral horses) become accepting of differing opinions. I also would not hesitate to tell ANYBODY they are a liar if thats what I believed. I wouldn’t care who it was. When somebody lies to me, they have lost all rights to my respect.

Anyone who has held a public office or even the PTA at some level knows that there is a rule book called “Roberts Rules of Order” that has guidelines of a code of conduct for behavior. So people who are quoting sections are in fact quoting a standard rule of order for Congress. Whether he was Republican or Democrat, the fact that he personally addressed the President of the United States in a derogatory manner during a speech is a violation of code of conduct. But it is humorous just the same to read everyone’s opinions on this. Where has civility gone?!

He already apologized, end of story…Pelosi just wants to put on a public display for the masses of liberal asses to see. No single president was ever the target of more disrespect that GW Bush. He never asked for any apologies and took any criticism in stride. The longer Obama and his arrogant, elitist administration are in office, the more people are going to miss GW. He may have bumbled his words and spoke far less eloquently than Barack, but he spoke from the heart clearly, without any hidden agendas…. The American people are coming to the realization that the articulately spoken words that come out of Obama’s mouth cannot be trusted or taken at face value…

There are now reports that the Senate will close the illegal immigrant loophole. Now, in the end it won’t matter because we’ll still get stuck with the bill for illegals just as we do at present. It is illegal to refuse medical service in this country. However, this move by the Senate Dems throws Obama under the bus. How do you close a loophole that doesn’t exist? Looks like Wilson wasn’t wrong…..

The race baiting is getting really old! It is time we moved on. People object to Obama because of his policies. Wilson should not have hollered out. I campaigned for Joe Wilson back in the ’80′s and I know the man he is. I do believe that he made a mistake as the office of President should be shown respect, BUT I feel that Mr. Wilson is just like most of South Carolianian’s and that is we are tired of being lied too. PERIOD! I can not believe that anyone in the Union enjoys being lied too and this Health Care Plan is not without questions. Am I worried? YES! Am I one of the few that are insured? NO! Do I believe we need changes? YES! But, with NO LIES and total honesty. Is that possible with this administration? I just don’t see it. But, do I believe that the 1 action by Mr. Wilson should cause Americans to critize in the manner they have? Where were these people during Whitewater? during Clinton’s lies about pot and Monica? Telling lies on national t.v. as a president does not get my approval. So, am I proud of Mr. Wilson stating his belief? Yes, if it will serve as a wake up call to others! Will I change my opinion of Mr. Wilson? Not in this lifetime! I just wish I lived in his district! Thank you Mr. Wilson for all you have done over the years for the wonderful State of SC! You are a credit to us. May God Bless you and your family. Tell Alan he has my vote too!

i ahve many doctor clients and they think this bill is garbage. they also say that paying for by cutting waste is not true. to cut waste you have to audit doctors and hospitals which in itself creates more waste. now doctors will have to file more paper work which creates more waste. another example of, lets say, misleading words about healthcare reform.

I am one of those Americans with no voice and no job after making a good salary steadily since 1983 and I have very limited very high medical coverage. I also went through a period with no coverage. I did not understand when you were running why you asked America to help you in changing our Country. That is, until I see how divisive and corrupt the Republican Party has been. We will help you fight to help us. I have older retired family members and for the Republicans to lie and insinuate lies about killing them is beyond unethical. It should be unlawful. They had no regard for the terror and fear they instilled in our seniors. All they wanted to do was to incite a Riot against you by any means necessary. You have people like Beck, Dobbs, and Fox Media News as their cheering section and supporting the lies and the whole time inciting riots all over the United States and they had absolutely no Remorse. They had no compassion. They did not care about who would suffer the most from their lies. Instead of spending this time working on building and supporting a healthcare plan for 46 million Americans, they used the time Congress was on recess to divide America that is, until now.
Then they had an idiot representative respond stating that they want to start all over again. They do not care about America. It is clear that they do not realize that they were given these jobs, not represent Evil or instill hate through lies, but to represent the people, Main Stream America of your state. Mr. Joe Wilson of South Carolina, you do not represent the Americans of your state. You are an Embarrassment. You showed extreme immaturity. The trifling, uncaring, unethical, and ignorant way The Republicans handle themselves clearly shows they are all about political agendas rather helping hurting people who desire change. Thank you President Obama for fighting for Main Street America and we now know that you said Yes We Can, because you need our help. You are not fighting alone any longer. We will help you by voting out the Trash and voting for America. We will Help You to Help Us. YES WE CAN.

Instead of voting on a “resolution of disapproval” Joe Wilson, Congress should be voting a on “resolution of disapproval” for themselves for undermining and ultimately destroying Medicare, Social Security and Private Health Care Insurance that millions of people like and are so dependent on?
The Democrats’ Trillion dollar Health Care Reform Plan will raise an already unsustainable deficit even higher. To say otherwise is not being honest. Higher deficits will further undermine Medicare and Social Security making their coming bankruptcy even more imminent. Once the baby boomers turn 65 there will be a 30% increase in Medicare enrollment. Thus, a 500 billion dollar cut to the Medicare budget will drive another stake into Medicare’s heart.
Moreover, according to the Democrats, due to all the fraud and waste in Medicare, 500 billion can be cut from Medicare without any cuts to services. Which makes a sane person ask why the government has neglected for so many years to rid the system of all this waste and fraud? Answer, because the reality is the inevitable outcome of a 500 billion dollar cut to Medicare are severe cuts to services for Seniors, with little if any abatement to waste and fraud and the Seniors know it. Ditto for the similar government run public option which will be subject to similar drastic cuts at the whim of the President and Congress.
So now that the Democrats have succeeded in gutting the heart out of Medicare and Social Security their knife now goes to the private insurance companies. Never mind 80% of he people are very happy with their private insurance plans.
So in order to sell their plan of a government take over of health care to the people, politicians must lie by telling the people they can keep their private insurance if they like them. The truth is, private insurance cannot compete with a government run tax paid for public option that can regulate private insurance out of business and under cut their prices. As a result, Companies will drop millions of people off of their private insurance plans and force their employees on the public option and the politicians know it.
The regrettable truth is government has proven time and time again that they are an incompetent manager of the peoples money and never keep any of their promises. Despite these facts, the greed for more power and more and more of the peoples money persists and grows like a cancer in their pursuit of a government take over of health care.
In conclusion, the representatives that vote for the Democrats’ Health Care Reform Bill will be voted out of office. This is a given as more and more people see the truth and realize that the ultimate outcome of Health Care Reform will be, higher deficits, higher taxes and fees and the ultimate destruction of Medicare, Social Security and Private Insurance which the majority of people like and are dependent on.

These people are not concerned about American or the American People. They are only interested in
attacking anything that Obama does, hoping that something will work. You know it is really sad that
some people would rather watch other people suffer than support someone who is fighting to make a difference and speak out for the people finally and say it is not okay to overcharge them in healthcare. It is not okay to refuse to cover their healthcare expenses because of your lies that they
had a pre-existing condition. It is not okay to refuse to treat people sub-standard or let them die because they do not have or cannot afford healthcare. It is not okay to raise their healthcare charges and copay at a whem. It is not okay that people lose homes and jobs because of outrageous and predatory healthcare charges, Those that have experienced these horrible situations, need to stand with the president and fight against these Republican conservatives who just want to defeat Obama at anything and everything without the consideration of the suffering of the American People. Igccac – I think the new cover story from the Conservative Republicans is that Wilson mistakenly thought the President was talking about a different bill. It was a tasteless outburst that Wilson has apologized for and Obama has accepted. But, Congress has governing and decorum rules which Rep. Wilson violated. His right to speak and represent his constituents is not being curtailed as he pretends. But, he should learn engage in the appropriate manner for the setting he is in. His actions were those of a fool.

They’re actually going to waste time by having a vote?! Doesn’t surprise me. Two years ago while the housing market was nearing the point of boiling over into disaster, the congressional leaders were holding hearing regarding steroid use in baseball. The SEC was again turning a blind eye to ‘Burn(ie) Through Your Money’ Madoff. Large corporations were ‘cooking’ the books to inflate their earnings and CEO’s and other executives were being paid large sums of money to ride their companies into ruin. Why, free air time. Instead they should have looking at the all too good to be true financial reports. Unfortunately the American People are paying several hundred elected officials (each >$100,000) annually to waste time on trivial matters. Yes, he blurted out ‘you lie’. Did the President lie? I don’t know. There is too much double talk and third person ‘speak’ in the bill to keep things straight. No one is turned away from hospitals that are in need of treatment. If they don’t pay who does? Would Obama’s aunt (residing in the U.S. illegally be refused treatment)?

Mitch, simply trotting out your “respect is earned” cliche does not really address the situation, even if I agreed with you about Obama which i do not (though i do have some serious qualms about him), Wilson did not just disrespect Obama himself, by going about it the way he did, he thoroughly disrespected the office of president, the congress, our democracy, the need for orderly and civil discourse for lawmakers, the process of lawmaking, and the majority of voters who did vote for Obama. many who do not like or respect Obama would and have agreed with me .
dissent is patriotic but for a congressman to disrupt a speech on healthcare to yell insults (when as a gongressman he has many other avenues to express himself) is not,it is unpatriotic, childish, petty, and destructive Sorry you are unable to see the big picture. Laura Bush, John McCain and many other republicans apparently can.
I see no need to punish Wilson for disrespecting the president. Respect is earned and so far in his 8 months as President he has not earned any. That speech was nothing but a lecture to those that disagree with his policies.

Dear All,
Wilson should say, “I ran to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. An implicit part of that oath is the preservation of our nation’s sovereignty. Part of that sovereignty is our right to exclude people from our soil. Part of that exclusion must be the denial to those people benefits accrued from the breaking of our laws. Our President and his party have combined to trash our Constitution, our sovereignty, our legal ability to deny foreign lawbreakers access to our soil, and to deny them benefits from work performed here illegally. He and his Party have done these things knowingly, yet he said that he was doing the opposite.
The knowing utterance of a false statement is a lie.”

The real question is how will Obama enforce that illegal aliens aren’t eligible for coverage??
whathappened08
thats a legit question ..it does not make Obama a liar (in and of itself) or wilsons behavior ok..this could be “brought to light” without the antics

Posted by: dan | September 12, 2009, 1:56 am 1:56 am

Also, when are you supposed to be able to confront people about these things? I thought the House was supposed to be a place where you debate things? Why go there and give a speech when you have no intention of answering any questions or allowing any negative feedback?
honey92345
what are you even talking about??!
the house provides ample opportunity to debate, this was not debate or negative feedback this was interupting the presidents speech with disruptive insults, yelling and heckling

Oh please people! What about Nancy Pelosi apoligizing for lying about the CIA? What about The rudeness of booing Bush in his farewell speech? Just finally admit it–what’s good for the goose is good for the gander, and get off your self-righteous high horse. If we could get beyond that ridiculous rhetoric, we could get to the real issues.

Posted by: Molly | September 12, 2009, 4:27 am 4:27 am

Pelosi and Obama are the ones that need to apologize.
Obama DID lie.
Congress’ own non-partisan analysts (Congressional Research Service) had ALREADY pointed out tht illegals would be eligible for the public option healthcare.

Why wasn’t Wilson “emotionally” moved to shout out as Bushed lied over and over and over again. Where were the emotional outburst then?
Shouting out even if he was right about illegals, was still disrespectful to the office of the President…
The President was addressing what would be in HIS plan, not necessarily any plan that has been presented by a particular committee…
I keep waiting to see any sign of a mature, intelligent, pragmatic Republican capable of veering him/herself away from the crazy fringe and political posturing that has seem to have consumed the rest of the Congressional Republicans…

More liberal buffoonery. There are hundreds of documented accounts when Bush and the office of the POTUS was disrespected by the same left-wing hypocrites both at home and overseas. Just another common diversion tactic that will die down quicker than you think. 46 million uninsured in this country(the number you liberal clowns love to spit out) and not one of them are illegal…yeah I got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn…cheap!

Why should Joe Wilson apologize for telling the truth? Isn’t it the same as one of his employers (district voters)saying it?
Members of congress are there to represent us, the people, not themselves. That is why 3 branches of government was formed; so each could keep the others in line. Why are they now walking hand in hand?
Folks, absolute government control is getting in line rapidly. None of them, Senate or House, think they are there to represent we the people.
We need to start getting them out next year and have a complete turnover.

Posted by: yogiman | September 12, 2009, 9:54 am 9:54 am

I hate to say this, but Obama stealing that office may be one of the best things that has happened in our nation in several decades. It has woke the people up. At least a lot of them. The questions are coming out more every day. Time will soon bring the truth forward.
The main question is; how did it happen? The next question is; why?
Congress allowed it. They questioned McCain but not Obama. Why not? Eighteen cases were not allowed in court seeking proof of legal eligibility, why not? All 50 state allowed him on their ballots without any question of his eligibility. Why? The Supreme court ‘talked’ to Obama in private, but none of the other candidates, Why? In my 57 years of voting, I have never heard of the Supreme Court talking to a candidate in private.
You always remember the truth when you tell it, but it’s easy to forget what you said as a lie, except when you are in congress.
Time will tell.

Nearly the entire establishment has become a LIE. With Acorn as the only example of Mr Obomas accomplishments, what hope is there if somebody doesn’t start exposing the big LIE? Its a funny thing. Democrats come out and lie all the time. They chastise brave american citizens overseas fighting for our safety. They call them murderers, rapists, killers of civilians. Pelosi takes bribe money and has shady business deals. Jefferson is convicted of fraud and money laundering. Rangel is a tax cheat. Barney Frank is housing male prostitutes. John Kerry comes back from Vietnam and lies about his service and the acts of soldiers. Ted Kennedy makes back room deals with the russians to overthrow Reagan. When Joe Wilson dares to speak the truth in front of 600 people, he is a disgrace. Democrats are the disgrace to the USA. Hypocrites every one of them. Wilson stays. Reid, Pelosi, Frank, Rangel, Durbin, Kerry can disappear and enjoy their taxpayer funded pension.

Wilson should be repremanded and then receive no more attention. He has gotten more than he deserves. The guy who threw the shoe at President Bush was punished by his country for being disrespectful and we should do the same. No one should disrespect the president be he Bush, Obama,Clinton, anyone. You can disagree with his politics but there is a time and place for this. The bill he was referring to had alredy been defeated and even then there was no line which said illegal immigrants would be receiving benefits. And, the new bill hasn’t been put together yet so he was off base from the start. People like that should be ignored and not given the press he has received. Secretely he got what he wanted for his election but I think he will not like the outcome.

Wow! Rep. Wlson was rude for calling the president a liar. How about all of the name calling against Presient Bush? I believe he was a called a liar several times, specifically by Harry Reid. He wrote it in a book and said it while being interviewed. Based on the standards that I am reading here, he should be punished, receive what is coming to him, and be kicked out of office. Along that line, how about all of the name callng and the smear campaign against soldiers serving in Iraq. They have been called thugs, rapists, terrorits, and murderers. Should these Democratic leaders who are making these comments be punished, or is that ok be they share your idiology?

Angela
Wilson is correct in saying the illegals will benefit from the health care plan as only the nieve believe otherwise. The benefits they receive in California and other border states are about to financially break the healthcare industry in those locales. As the obvious agenda for the Fascist Obama Admininistration is to grant citizenship to all illegals, there is another method of the liars getting around the truth. How long have you been following politics, about a week to two? To the individual that is the least bit schooled, do not look at the immediate results as the agenda is the end result. The socialist of the Great Depression era Franklin Roosevelt, stated that nothing happens in politics that has not been planned at least twenty years ahead of the event. I will forgive your nievety as assume it is due to your youth, but for an older individual such as myself, I have had many more years to experience the “forked tongue” of those in power. Love your country but never trust your government.

If you do not see that, you can not be convinced, because you do not WANT to see this. On the current topic- (healthcare reform) this MAN, claims he will not allow anything for illegal aliens… he is NOT lying there, because he plans to make all illegals- legal. He will grant all of them citizenship- and if that happens the illegals, will then be citizens. WHEN that happens- he will be telling the truth.

HR 3200 is the Republican healthcare plannot the Democrat health-care plan that Obama and Nancy Pelosi support that one is called HR 3400. Our Bill is the one that does what you’re saying. the one they’ve been talking about does not do that. They won’t even allow HR 3200 to be debated brought to committee were even voted on were discussed in any way, or negotiated, and it definitely would not be voted on. You don’t need to be a highs school graduate to understand what is a code of conduct. This has nothing to do with free speech. There is a time and place for free speech.

Both Obama and Wilson should resign, right, since Obama also called people who warned of “death panels” liars. Didn’t you listen to the speech? Obama said, in PREPARED remarks before a Joint Session of Congress, that his opponents were telling “lies”. “lies”. He introduced the word and the spirit.
A moment later, Wilson showed bad manners by telling the truth in that manner in that forum, but Obama has a higher office and a higher responsibility so he displayed even more outrageous conduct.
Has Obama apologized?

What everyone seems to forget is that the speech was based on a lie! Obama refered to his plan and his bill over and over again. When he has not submitted anything to congress remotely simulating a bill or any written proposal. The speech was just a string of platitudes design to appeal to his base of largely illiterate voters and media flunkies. The unlikely bill that has passed is the House bill which does not prevent illegal aliens from being covered. It does pay for abortions. It does cut medicare. It does set up panels to decide who and what kind of services seniors may be eligible for at the end of their lives etc..!!!!

catman, catman, catman, you are so use to the dirty tricks played by Republicans during their eight year reign of terror. We know they used those tactics quite well so I understand your concern. Either way until the people who are responsible for hiring illegals are held accountable that issue will never go away and the American people will continue to pay for their visits to emergency rooms.
As for your attempts to demonize and vilify Nancy Pelosi and President Obama and Democrats in general about being liars, that hard to take seriously when the previous President has yet to take any responsibility for the LIES that they told that took our country to a war of choice. How about the LIES that they told about how this war of choice was going to be paid for and how long it would take. LIES, how about the lies the previous administration told us about the tax cuts for the wealthy that was supposed to trickle down to the lowly ole middle class? Republicans in Congress calling our President a liar but refuse to acknowledge their lies that have harmed this country is laughable. Until you haters begin to acknowledge that the lies told during the previous administration greatly harmed this country, you have absolutely no creditability.

I vividly recall the “boos” from the left during GW’s last state of the union address. The daily, constant disparaging and derogatory comments were covered in all the mainstream media.
Will there be any repurcussions for The Speaker for her assertion that the CIA lied to her?
Will the Congress do anything to investigate ACORN and cut off funds?
Will they look into the background and the need for the President’s multiple Czars?
Will they start to recover all the fraud and waste in Medicare that will fund their Universal Health Care. (Why wait for a reform bill?)
No.
They will concern themselves with punishing Joe Wilson.
If the left is allowed to have standing ovations and enthusiastic applauds for every presidential utterance, then the opposition must also be allowed to express themselves. Is that not free speech?
Was it rude? Certainly, but far, far less rude than what the left has demonstrated over that last several years.

On July 30 while the bill was in committee an amendment by Congressman Nathan Deal that would have required health care providers to use the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program to prevent illegal aliens from receiving government health care services was voted down. All Republicans and five Democrats voted for it, but 29 Democrats voted against it, killing the amendment. cheryl8122: You are Lying!! They will cover Illegals!!!

And has anyone considered this scenario – they put it in the bill that illegal aliens will not have access to it. The bill does not take effect until 2013. Obama has said several times that he wants Immigration Reform handled next year-and what do you think they will do to the Illegal Immigrants with that bill? You guessed it, make them legal and give them a fast-track to citizenship and create a nice little guest worker program. Heck, I bet they even give them the vote in National Elections. And we now have them Under the Health Care Legislation – because there are no longer any illegal aliens-just guest workers entitled to the benefits because as the idiot McCain said: They’re Gods’ children too!

Rep. Wilson simply did what millions of Americans wanted to do. He knows as well as we do that twice an amendment was put forward to clearly, in plain language, state the need for citizenship verification to qualify for any new health plan and both times the Dems voted against it. As a result of Rep. Wilson’s outburst, the Dems decided this past Friday to put language in the bill that is specific to verification of citizenship. Obama had no business remarking on the issue if he didn’t know what he was talking about and if he did, then he was lying because the bill did nothing to enforce keeping illegal aliens from getting health care. The whole presentation of this bill by the Democratic party and Obama has been deceitful from the beginning. Everyone is dancing around the facts. Now as usual Rep. Wilson is being called a racist. The same old tired excuse when anything is said against Obama or his socialist plans for America. I guess it never occurred to anyone that Obama is half white or so we are told. The real crime here is that this President continues to stand before the American people almost daily telling lies. The second worst crime here is that the American people are not supposed to call him on those lies. I don’t care who you are, if you are lying, you are a liar! I think it’s time Obama, Pelosi and Reid apologize in front the the entire nation for calling millions of Americans, those who don’t agree with them, terrorists! Rep. If he does not shouw up to apologise on the congress floor then go ahead with desapproval vote to oust him. The house does not need explosive lawmakers who have no clue about civility.

If the congress insists on pursuing this, it will only reinforce the thought that the president lies.

DID ANYONE in the leftwing media keep track of the countless times that George Bush was called “liar”, “Hitler”, and every other foul name in the book ? How about hearing from some of the countless hypocrits of the Democrat-Socialist Party.

This is disrespectful to the office of President and no American should be allowed to do that especially a Congressman. They are held to a higher standard and their attitude and behavior should reflect that. Although I did not vote for George Bush in the previous election I would never disrespect the Office of The President. This is crossing the line as an American. You don’t have to agree with the Presidents philosphy but we are not talking about philosophy here we are talking about the office. He should be made to apologize on the floor.

Snow White and friends
Pinocchio, Snow White, and Superman are out for a stroll in town one day. As they walked, they come across a sign: “Beauty contest for the most beautiful woman in the world.”
“I am entering!” said Snow White. After half an hour she comes out and they ask her, “Well, how’d you do?”
” First Place !” said Snow White.
They continue walking and they see a sign: “Contest for the strongest man in the world.”
“I’m entering,” says Superman. After half an hour, he returns and they ask him, “How did you make out?”
” First Place ,” answers Superman. “Did you ever doubt?”
They continue walking when they see a sign: “Contest! Who is the greatest liar in the world?” Pinocchio enters.
After half an hour he returns with tears in his eyes.
“What happened?” they asked.
“Who the hell is Nancy Pelosi?” asked Pinocchio.

The right HAS been trying to work with the president, but they are being ignored. Letters are ignored, calls ignored. Did you not see the proposed bills they were waving? If you have been ignored for nine months, while the president has been saying that HE has been trying to reach out and the right is being a party of “no”, then it is only a matter of time before someone looses their temper. Thank god it was only a a three letter word. BO should stop lying and start at least listening to all, if he truly wants to be bipartisn!

If he has to apologize the Democrats should have apologized for the Booing incident when President Bush was addressing them.

Wilson was right, Obummer was lying.
Will the Democrats appologize for their boo’s, hisses and catcalls during Bushes 2004 address to Congress on Social Security Reform. But I guess that was justified right.
It shouldn’t be called the Democrat party it should be called the Hypocrit party.
Come on Obummer, if it’s the right thing to do, do it. You’ve got the votes in Congress, do it.

Joe Wilson was wrong to tell the truth in such a setting but the same group who want to censure him booed President Bush. They need to delay doing anything until the felon amongst them {Rangel} is ousted. If that isn’t done then decent Americans will have even less respect for them.

Thank God for people like Rep Wilson who has the guts to stand for the TRUTH! I do not care WHO it is, if they lie, they should be called on the carpet for it! Our society today seemingly does not care about lying to one another except if it suits them at that time or it can be used later to defame someone. People are speaking of disrespect of the president???? Does Mr. Obama not care who he disrespects when he lies to MILLIONS????? I personally believe that Mr. Wilson owes NO ONE an apology and quite honestly, I would like to shake Mr. Wilson’s hand! Mr. Obama has accepted Mr. Wilson’s apology and we as a nation need to LET IT GO!!! Quit harping on such trivial things and concentrate on more pressing matters of national importance! Ms. Pelosi needs to make sure her own nose is clean before looking down it at others! Our nation is so divided right now, it is in imminent danger of falling and no one seems to care. Even though Mr. Obama is NOT my chosen president, I do pray wisdom for him to be able to lead us not into distruction but greatness once again! Thank you and God bless the USA!!!!
