Obamas Tour the Mall

ABC News' Vija Udenans reports:

If you were a tourist Sunday night in  Washington, D.C., and thought you saw the president walking near The Mall — you were right.

The entire extended Obama family  left the White House briefly on Sunday evening to visit the two Washington DC monuments they see daily from their windows.

The first stop for the presidential motorcade was the Jefferson Memorial.

President Obama, his wife Michelle and daughters, Malia and Sasha, and mother-in-law, Mrs. Robinson were enjoying a family outing.

The apparent reason for the touristy moment was the president's sister, Maya, her husband, Conrad and two daughters, visiting from out-of-town.

After walking around the base of Jefferson's feet, the president's family motored to the second stop, the Washington Monument.

Earlier in the day, the President had golfed a round of 18 holes at Ft. Belvoir with U.S. Trade Representative Paul Kirk, economic adviser Larry Summers and White House trip director Marvin Nicholson.

Jefferson did rail against the central bank. Let’s hope he gets a clue.

Golfing while Americans are dying in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Get real, work out your problems in the gym instead of spending hours on the course.
Lack of leadership. Spends money frivilously like there’s no tomorrow.
Excessive carbon footprint but still yakking about everybody else.
What a loser!

Sweeping mandate for Hope and Change, Baby!
—Just 41% of voters nationwide now favor the health care reform proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s down two points from a week ago and the lowest level of support yet measured.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 56% ARE OPPOSED TO THE PLAN.—

Isn,t it wonderful the president and his family tour the mall while our country is going to hell. This ma has become the worst president ever. I also just read about my S.S. How are we going to survive, S.S. down medicare up and he spends his time at the mall what a joke

Concerning the confusion of all the polls about health care reform and benefits for illegal aliens, how about putting it to a vote and let the American people have the final say.

Oh that’s right, the Amercan people are confused about the issues. So the folks in Congress and the Senate are less confused when they can’t explain it in understandable terms and most haven’t read the bills themselves. Yet they will vote for it and exclude themselves from having to take the same medicine as all other United States citizens.

It’s nice that he has time to do all this lounging around and flying off to Copenhagen to shill for his old Chicago croneys. How about you take a day or two and figure out what you’re going to do about Afghanistan?

A public servant who is on call 24-7 can’t take a ride across town on a Sunday night for an hour or so? Next, I suppose, you’ll be begruding him bathroom breaks and requiring his staff to sleep in their White House offices more than they do already. Reality check here!

C’mon, there are plenty of legit questions to ask about the president’s policies and decisions— but criticizing him for going out for a few hours with his family there in the city in which they live is just plain silly.

I agree with Mohican. There’s nothing wrong with a family outing to visit Washington’s great monuments. Give the guy a break!
I am not President Obama’s biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I do not instantly jump to criticize his every move, either. This sounds like a perfectly lovely thing to do with relatives in town. I see no reason to bash the president for it.
