ABC News’ Karen Travers reports: On his second day in Baghdad, Vice President Joe Biden met with several Iraqi political leaders as part of his effort to “resolve outstanding political issues” there before the January elections. Biden met with Iraqi Vice President Tariq al Hashimi and Vice President Adel Abdul – Mahdi and joked with the latter about his frequent visits to Iraq. “You can’t get rid of me,” Biden said to Abdul-Mahdi, according to the pool reporter traveling with the vice president. “I keep coming back.” This is Biden’s third trip to Iraq this year. Biden came bearing gifts for his counterparts – crystal bowls engraved with his signature. Biden will take home with him a small golden statute of a palm tree, a gift from the Iraqis. Biden’s meetings with al Hashimi and Abdul-Mahdi took place at the Presidency Diwan, the complex where the Iraqi president and vice presidents conduct business. Biden is expected to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki later today.
