Cindy Sheehan Moving to Washington
ABC News’ Yunji de Nies and Sunlen Miller report: She’s back and this time, she’s here to stay. Cindy Sheehan says she is moving to Washington. The anti-war activist was outside the White House for the second day in a row, with a bullhorn and a handful of protestors, shouting against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Guantanamo and calling for “health care not warfare.”
Sheehan became a prominent voice against the Iraq war after her son Special Casey Sheehan was killed in Iraq 2004, and spent years hounding George W. Bush. Now, she’s turned her attention to President Barack Obama, recently following him on his family vacation to Martha’s Vineyard, and now planning to move to D.C. sometime this winter. Sheehan says she sees no difference between the foreign policy of the last president and this one.
“Sometimes I look at what I think Senator McCain would be doing, and what Obama’s doing and I can’t discern any difference. And I think that Obama’s foreign policy is obviously a continuation. When you have Robert Gates. When you have McChrystal. When you have Hillary Clinton, who is supposed to be the secretary of state, but who has always been for these wars of aggression. I see is clearly a continuation, a continuation of the policy of empire,” Sheehan told ABC News.
Park Police arrested Sheehan and 60 other protestors yesterday, after Sheehan chained herself to the fence on the North Lawn. Sheehan says she refuses to pay the fine and that she and other anti-war activists plan to “step up” their protests until the administration shows a willingness to withdraw U.S. forces from Afghanistan.
“We’re going to create a movement that’s going to demand a change of policy,” she said, explaining that her plan is to create large, coordinated acts of civil resistance, “It’s going to be massive.”

I guess it takes a new president to get Cindy some more coverage. While the Right is sure to indulge in their favorite pastime of whining about media bias, the documented reality is the press ignored her the last year or two of the Republican administration. She just wasn’t that interesting a story after the initial flash in the pan (did you know that she apparently bought land in Crawford? Neither did I, because no one cared about her after 05-06…).

Cindy Sleestack is back! At least she’s consistent. I’ll give her that. So many anti-war folk were merely shallow chanters trying to make political leverage of the deaths of soldiers for their own gain against Bush. You don’t see them now, except a few and Cindy.

Cindy is no longer a hero of the left or a media darling now that she’s protesting Obama’s war..
They’ll welcome her back in 2012 when Palin becomes president.
Obama will keep us in Iraq and Afghanistan for the rest of his term.
So much for the anti-war president.

The hypocrites in the media only paid attention to Sheehan because it made Bush look bad.
They could care less what she stands for.
Now that she makes Obama look bad the ObamaMedia is not interested.
Any wonder that the media has lost all credibility and public trust?

Is that so? I have been listening to ABC NEWS all day on the radio and not heard a word. I just check front page of Fox News.com and did not see it nor is it on the front page of ABCnews.com I checked GOOGLE news not there. You only find it burried in Tappers BLOG. Also I do not believe my post deserved any name calling. If you do not think the media pumped up the coverage of Cindy when she was in Crawford you are intellectually dishonest. Now that she is in DC she will be ingored or maybe even the left in the media will start to say she is looney.

Mostly I agree with Sheehan. Obama is more worst than Bush. The reason is that Obama and his Admin. don’t have any affordable strategies to win about the two wars as well as saving of unemployment of 15,000,000 in USA.
Obama’s first sentimental strategy yield six times more victims
than Bush’s era. In the future, American history will judge Obama’s poor the judgement.

For the vast majority of the Left, War without George W. Bush is just not War at all. That is why Cindy is being ignored now. She was simply a useful tool for the Left’s eternally outrageously outrageous righteous outrage against all things Republican when the GOP held the White House. She has outlived her usefulness.

It was the Democrats who created the death panels cleverly titled “end of life guidance”–but then had to remove them from the Senate bill when they got caught. How else is ObamaCare going to pay for itself? And it was Obama’s DoD that created the pamphlets advising severely disabled veterans on how to end their lives.

Those named most frequently as the television news organization most trusted for accurate reporting in 2009 included: Fox News (30.0%), CNN (19.5%), NBC News (7.5%) and ABC News (7.5%). Fox News was also the television news organization trusted least. Just over one-quarter, 26.2%, named Fox News, followed by NBC News (9.9%), MSNBC (9.4%), CNN (8.5%), CBS News (5.3%) and ABC News (3.7%).

Sarah Palin’s bogus death panels weren’t in the Senate bill; she claimed they were in the house bill (HR 3200). Her spokeswoman said that Palin was specifically referring to section 1233. After the Senate Finance Committee announced they would remove the end-of-life provision from their bill, Palin falsely claimed they were removing section 1233 from HR 3200.
The VA booklet on advance care planning was not created by Obama’s DoD; it has been around since 1997. It does not advise veterans on “how to end their lives.” Even Sarah “Death Panel” Palin supported advance care planning before she quit her job as Governor of Alaska.

You are not exactly right on this.. but then folks like you and Ryan C routinely skew the true a bit..
It was created in 1997 true enough.. but it was removed from circulation by Bush for the very reason mentioned above. The basic questions posed in the booklet lent themselves to the intrepretation that the book was designed to assertain at what point a person no longer wanted to live…Bush removed it as inappropriate and Obama reinstated it…THIS YEAR…
Intrepret that action in what ever way you choose.. personally, I can see no reason for it.. at least no GOOD reason..

NO she’s not… protesting a war her own son fought and died in with honor..
I find it interesting that over one year after her son had been brought home, she found countless hours to camp out in texas and protest Bush. She found plenty of time to give speechs, to rub elbows with Jesse Jackson, to make the talk circuit and yet she couldn’t find the time to have the government provided tombstone placed on her son’s grave..
The right reasons??? You really think so??

30% isn’t a majority, or did you forget already what those patriots at Sacred Heart found? Also don’t forget about the 26% who trust Fox the least.
Do you not see the irony of the “No Spin Zone” host on the “Fair and Balanced” channel telling his viewers only half the story about its trustworthiness?
And, from the NYT, September 3rd: “Added together, the evening news shows from ABC, CBS, and NBC reach about 20 million viewers each day. Given the fragmentation of the American audience over the past 30 years, 20 million is a pretty impressive number. Four times more impressive, in fact, than the sum of the average audiences that CNN, Fox News Channel, and MSNBC attract during prime-time.”

Funny thing about that VA booklet being removed in 2007 – Bush’s Faith Czar James Towey was trying to sell his own end-of-life booklet to the VA that very same year.

My question is why her protests of President Bush (even her recent one at his Dallas home) are so heavily covered by the media while her protests of President Obama are ignored? Complain all you want about a Fox news bias, but the lack of Sheehan’s Obama protests in the mainstream media is condeming of the liberal press.
