Liz Cheney’s New Group Blasts Obama Foreign Policy
EmailABC News’ Rick Klein reports: Liz Cheney has launched a new group aimed at rallying opponents to President Obama's foreign policy and national security initiatives. The organization, Keep America Safe, is introducing itself today with an aggressive Web video that attacks the president's policies on missile defense and the CIA interrogation probe, and mocks him for not making a faster decision on strategies in Afghanistan. "Barack Obama knows how to give a great speech. But when it comes to America's defense, the rhetoric doesn't match the reality," the voice-over says in the video, designed as a fundraising pitch for the new group. On Afghanistan, the video's tone grows sarcastic: "Not enough time for a decision, but plenty of time for Letterman, golf, a beer summit, more golf, vacation, and a visit to Copenhagen." Liz Cheney, the eldest daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, appears ready to use the group to corral the running foreign-policy critique she and her father have aimed at Obama into a more robust organization, capable of backing up messaging with advertising. "The policies being proposed by the Obama administration are so radical across the board," Liz Cheney told Politico's Ben Smith, who broke the story about the group's formation today. "Whether you're a Republican or a Democrat, you want the nation to be strong and so many steps this president is taking are making the nation weaker." Keep America Safe is being organized as a 501(c)4 non-profit, meaning it can participate in campaigns and lobby for legislation. Other major players in the new group include Bill Kristol, the editor of the Weekly Standard, and Debra Burlingame, a 9/11 widow who co-founded 9/11 Families for a Safe and Strong America. The organization's executive director will be Aaron Harison, who directed the McCain campaign's rapid-response "war room."

But it’s true: the media covers the most inconsequencial people ad nauseum: Palin, Rush, Liz Cheney, Ann Coulter, Glen Beck, on and on. Half these people have never held public office (and one simply quit.) It’s pretty weird, I don’t watch FOX, yet I know the opinions and the faces of every FOX pundit, thanks to the MSM. I’d rather hear from conservatives who have jobs, like Jindal or … I dunno, I don’t really want to hear from anymore conservatives.

Let’s recap, under Cheney’s rein, Iran developed a secret nuclear facility, developed and tested long range missles capable of carrying a nuclear war head AND Russia backed them 100% the entire time. Under Obama, in only 8 months, the new facility has been exposed, Russia is ON OUR SIDE and has ALREADY put pressure on Iran by saying that sanctions for them may be inevitable if they continue their path (which Russia actually supported and gave materials for under Cheney) AND NOW Iran AGREED to let nuclear inspectors into the country to visit the new plant and report on Iran’s nuclear program. Uhhhhh, ok, so when Cheney was in office IRan was ramping uptheir nuke program and their devices to transport bombs and russia was supporting them, now Iran is open for inspections and Russia is threatenin them with sanctions and put pressure on them to stop to which we’ve already seen results….uhhhhh,I’ll take Obama’s results over Cheney’s results anyday! Sorry cons, but republicans do a BAD JOB at everything they did the past 8 years. They have NOTHING to offer.

Reality is, Cheney’s legacy is crap and he knows it. Worste thing in the world for Cheney is that we dont get hit with a terrorist attack and Iran halts their nuclear developmment program. Already we’re seeing Iran back down, and so far, no terrorist attack, and basically success for Obama means Cheney was WRONG and Cheney is all about Cheney. Bush and Cheney sucked at their jobs. 8 years of them in office resulted in two wars spun out of control, one of which was completely unnecessary, Iran ramping up their nukes, North Korea ramping up their nukes, and we the most isolated we’ve ever been, just 6% of the world’s population with not a friendly nation of any significance out there. All I know is that since Obama took office, the stock market is up over 40%, Iran is once again allowing inspectors into their nuclear sites, and Russia has increased its cooperation with the United States. Whatever Liz Cheney wants us to do we need to do the exact opposite. The destruction reaped between 2000-2008 is clear evidence of that.

The right wing fringe think they are still important in American politics because they can gather a few hundred people to protest a Town Hall meeting, or organize idiotic email chains by passing around false propaganda between themselves. What a joke they truly are. The fact is that Barack Obama is a man of humility and contemplation, and this is precisely what makes a great leader. He is making progress at the necessary and correct pace, and by the time the next Presidential election rolls around the extreme right wing fringe will have been fully marginalized. Obama has set not only the economy on the mend (after 8 years of rotten neglect by the ‘conservative’ government), but he’s also going to get a health care bill passed whether the blind right wing fanatics can see it or not. The country will realize clearly that they are much, much better off under Obama than they were at any time under the disaster called Bush.

Bush and Cheney let Afghanistan deteriorate for eight years and they’re going to complain that Obama’s going to spend some weeks to make sure his strategy will have a reasonable chance of reversing the mess Bush and Cheney left! What a joke!
Democrats are “making America weaker” by doing things like banning the sale of replacement warplane parts to Iran. It made America stronger to let Cheney’s friends and campaign contributors sell them to Iran and he’s steamed the Democrats stopped those sales.
Cheney’s Halliburton, which decided it no longer wanted to pay American taxes and is now a Middle Eastern Company, still wants American protection and contracts – and Cheney wants the same.

His policies led us into two wars, lost our chance to capture ben Laden, and created a world that hated the US and refused to help us. In less than a year, President Obama has moved us from the brink and reinserted America onto the world stage as an active member rather than a bully. In the meantime, he also has to solve the incredible financial disaster that was the Bush/Cheney legacy. AND we are to believe his daughter?????

Cheney and Bush pulled out troops from Afghanistan when they were afraid we would actually capture Bin Laden and left Afghanistan, Pakistan and our Country in danger of the terrorist capturing the nuclar weapons in Pakistan and they fouled up in Iraq and now this President has all the mess from Cheney and Bush to contend with and all the Republicans can do is blame this President for all their foul ups. Personally, nothing she says bothers me because this is what a political party does when they loose power, they did it during the Clinton administration, and they are doing the same to the Obama administration. The Bush administration speaks for itself in what they did during their eight years.
The only problem I have is that the American people have short memories and are also short on patience, and this rhetoric, by the right, will eventually have an effect. I blame the American people for the mess America is in. People have voted the same people back to congress year after year after year. Both parties have let Americans down, but they couldn’t have done this without our help.

I have one thing to say about vacations. The whole darn world knows that bush took more vacation time then four or five presidents combined. And this piece of slime who comes from slime has the nerve to even make reference to the fact that Obama has taken time off. AND as to vacations the time bush traveled around the country campaigning for republicans, on government money and government time was never counted in his vacation time.
