Schwarzenegger Endorses Obama Health Care Effort
First there was Frist (sort of). Then Thompson. Then Bloomberg.
And today Arnold Schwarzenegger will become the latest high-profile (non-Senate) Republican to sign on to the health care plans pushed by President Obama.
Here's the statement:
For Immediate Release:

Governor Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on National Push for Health Care Reform
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today issued the following statement urging the passage of health care reform at the national level:
“As Governor, I have made significant efforts to advance health reform in California. As the Obama Administration was launching the current debate on health care reform, I hosted a bipartisan forum in our state because I believe in the vital importance of this issue, and that it should be addressed through bipartisan cooperation.
“Our principal goals, slowing the growth in costs, enhancing the quality of care delivered, improving the lives of individuals, and helping to ensure a strong economic recovery, are the same goals that the president is trying to achieve. I appreciate his partnership with the states and encourage our colleagues on both sides of the political aisle at the national level to move forward and accomplish these vital goals for the American people.
Still waiting for Olympia Snowe…

Thus, Obama has accomplished nothing, as there will be no reductions in health care costs.

Swartznegger seems to forget that he vetoed a fully vetted single-payer bill passed by both houses of the Californiia legislature (SB840)twice, in 2007 and 2008. The same bill will be on his desk this year (SB810). Will he sign it to make California the first state with Health Care For ALL, or continue representing his insurence company donors?

George, please. This is not an endorsement of the Obama plan per se (whatever that is), but a broad endorsement of principles that everyone agrees are important. It’s akin to endorsing mom and apple pie and it should carry the same weight.

The insurance companies are some of the worst I’ve ever seen, on the backs of many sick helpless people they keep their pockets open for more and more, I wonder if they have a heart, or is it that they are the bottomless pit, I honor the Governor of California. Since the health care industry could care less about a person then maybe they should be driven out of business.
Thank You for the opportunity

California is just like all other states…….with a big chunk of money going to the private insurance companies that do not make it’s citizens better…….they’re just draining the “wells” of these states. But, the cynical will continue to be happy as the status quo, afraid of change. My parents told me years ago, that the only “constant” thing in this life is Change. This would allow the congressmen, the public, the media and the opresident to read it and weed out all of the corruption built into these huge bills. I would love to hear the president’s take on it too. He proclaimed he will be the most transparent administration ever, and so far it has ben the direct opposite.

Medicare denis more treatments than all of the insurance companies combined, so all of you people voicing the Dems line of reasoning, they are LYING to you.
The Medicare denial rate found in the study was, on a weighted average basis, roughly 1.7 times that of all of the private carriers combined (99,025 divided by 2,447,216 is 4.05%; 6.85% divided by 4.05% =1.69).
You would think Medicare’s sheer size might enable it to have smoother procedures with its providers that would enable it to turn down a lower percentage of claims. But no, this is the government we’re talking about.
So who’s the most “heartless” now? And why should Americans accept the idea of gradually being forced into a government-run system when, based on documented government experience, they will be more likely to see their claims denied?
And I didn’t even get to the idea of refusals to treat in the first place, something that is present to some degree in virtually every state-run system, but is currently against the law in hospital emergency rooms in the U.S.

Does he approve the idea of premiums for seniors being as much as 5 times the premiums for others? Does he approve the idea that people should pay up to 13% of their incomes for health insurance? We do not know what it is exactly that the Governor is endorsing. Please get some facts before writing another article.

NO governor should want Obamacare!! — In the Baucus Bill, all 50 state budgets will be permanently increased by expanding Medicaid!!!! Democrats want to use Medicaid to cover everyone up to at least 133% of the federal poverty level. Starting in 2014, Mr. Baucus plans to spend $287 billion through 2019—or about one-third of ObamaCare’s total spending—to add some 11 million new people to the Medicaid rolls. — MEDICAID is partially funded by STATES!!!!! — Shuffling off COSTS where the public won’t see it as a “national” tax!! — Blame the states!!

Shane… exactly my thoughts … if Arnold is for this, isn’t that a clear indication that we should run away from this plan as fast and as far as possible? Look at the state of the state of CA. The one good thing I’ve heard that CA has done on the medical care front is instantiate caps on malpractice lawsuits … this is something that SHOULD be (but is not) in the Obama plan. However, besides this, there needs to be something done about the root causes of our flooded hospitals and skyrocketing costs. Any plan worth its salt needs to address tort reform, mandatory co-payments for all and no free care for illegal aliens. Of course, you will find none of these addressed in the current Obama plan (in spite of what Obama has said in front of the TV cameras — it’s not in there and Joe Wilson was correct, albeit untactful, in calling Obama out on it).

I really don’t know of one person that is against healthcare reform. It’s just that some focus on cutting costs without cutting services and choice while others don’t really care what it costs and want the government to run it all. I personally like low cost and choice.

Arnold should concentrate on his current woes of California and not the national stage. His ability to run a state shows everyone his lack of executive experience. We, the people, of America know that this so-called healthcare reform is nothing more than the Federal Government taking over 17% of our economy, our FREEDOM. The Republicans in Congress do have some really good ideas… the Liberals just don’t want to hear them!

There isn’t a person in the world that believes Michael Bloomberg ever was a Republican when he ran as one, but even he calls himself an Independent. And Thompson? Considering the link connects to a story about Bill Thompson, DEMOCRAT, who is trying to unseat the INDEPENDENT Bloomberg for the NYC mayor, I fail to understand Stephanopoulis’ point. Otherwise, a story about Arnold signing on to an expansion of government power would have been another dog bites man story.

There are many aspects to the health proposals that are good and make sense. There are also ones, like the public option that are misguided and will increase costs over the long term.
I think the instrangience of the liberal democrats with the public option is a stealth means to nationalize the health care industry for politicians to control 1/6th of the economy.
Our government cannot control medicare costs now, cannot fund it adquately and pay only 78% of providers costs, shifting the burden on private sector.
The public option will allow them to shift more costs onto the private insurance forcing emploeyrs to dump the plans forcing their employees onto the public plan.
The end result will be rising costs and out of control government deficits. All taxpayers will end up paying the bill, not just the over 250K crowd.

My previous post was evidently too persuasive… let’s see if I can water it down a bit so it doesn’t get censored out. In summary of my prior post, any plan which does not address the fundamental, root causes of our hospital overcrowding and skyrocketing medical costs does not deserve consideration. The “ObamaCare” plan does not address any of these: tort reform (incl. caps on medical malpractice suits which would significantly reduce the cost of insurance that needs to be held by doctors/hospitals), mandatory co-payments for all (which would cut down on frivolous visits and help free doctors up to focus on the most serious cases) and NO FREE CARE FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS. Yes the “Illegal Alien” issue is a political hot potato, but it needs to be addressed because it is bankrupting all of our social institutions (prisons, schools, hospitals). Either grant these people amnesty and get them on the tax-paying roles, or encourage them (by cutting off their “free lunch”) to return to thier home countries.

To Rodney and all those hwo believe no Republican plan has been put forth, look up H.R.2520. But it was not the all encompassing healthcare-for-everyone-including-illegal-immigrants bill that the left demands so it never saw the light of day.
One question still stands…who is paying for Obamacare? Who is paying after the “rich corporations” and “rich people” have been taxed into oblivion, after excise taxes are placed on middle-class insurance plans? Who will pick up the tab for Obamacare? The events in California are a model for what will happen with with Obamacare. Businesses are leaving CA for states with business-friendly tax rates. And the CA state Democrats want to raise more taxes to cover the deficit.

To Kenneth – A reality check. Actually America has been the strongest militarily and financially in the world without government healthcare. Why aren’t we fixing the uninsured instead of messing up what is a great system for most of us. ONE OF THE BEST EXPLANATIONS OF WHY OBAMA WON THE ELECTION –
–From a teacher in the Nashville area
when it is all about the ‘Ice Cream.’
The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year…
The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have anelection for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.
The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia’s mother. The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better
place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Everyone applauded and he sat down.
Now is was Olivia’s turn to speak. Her speech was concise. She said, “If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream.” She sat down. The class went wild. “Yes! Yes! We want ice cream.”
She surely would say more. She did not have to. A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn’t sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn’t know. The class really didn’t care. All they were thinking about was ice cream.
Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide. Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds. They want ice cream.

Why not open the voting machines and let the American SHEEPLE decide if they want a public option or not. By self admission most of the Senate they could not interpert the bill as written. Yet every Repub. voted against it. Let SHEEPLE determine if America gets an option or not. our elected officials would have collective heart attacks when they are on the record voting against a public option and the voters in their states vote for it.

There are people so evil and with so low self steam that when they see black Americans driving they wave bye to them, they once did it in a bold fashion but now they do it in a slicker fashion by taping there fingers on the hood of there cars in bye bye like motion. I refuse to name the race of people for it may offend some and that is not my aim but to enlighten the American people on this fact so all can see and know how some think, excuse me how most think about the black race, why,,, I would like not to say in this paper but I will continue to inform you on these races and cruel un-American antics. Not only in the act of people but also hidden in are entertainment, for example the politically humorist (team America world police) in one of the opening scenes one of the characters sing a song about H.I.V saying I have aids, my mom got aids, my hole family got aids. Then many viewers did not know the humor or the purpose of the song, but now many years later the intellectual can see the massive evil humor in the joke. Now should I be convinced that no matter how many wars they fight or how many inventions they make or even how many times they have amazingly represented this country in the Olympics, the black man in America will never truly be American and deserve the support of his American brothers? Let’s show the world that this great nation was not truly built on the back of tyrants and fight for the once existing cure for aids, and not only save thousands of white Americans but also stop the demonic (Ethnical Cleansing) on the black communities.
In conclusion, for those who know the holy bible God instructs us to be as wise as a serpent but as harmless a dove. What are snakes, creatures that are low in nature, cold blooded only caring for its self and its meal, and even now stay as harmless as a dove for we are kings and queens not low in nature, God bless America. United we stand divided we fall god bless America.

Steve from WI,
If you have seen any of the GOP plans, they are a big joke, an afterthought they produced once challenged to do more than say NO to President Obama. They would do nothing related to impacting real reform and do not include an insurance mandate, which anyone knows is the key to real reform. Don’t fall for the FoxNews lies and distortions, the vast majority of Republicans do not want to work with President Obama and help real health care reform pass.
Posted by: rodney | October 6, 2009, 4:34 pm 4:34 pm
Our political system is corrupted. Each of our Senators owes something to someone. Or they would not be where they are now. Same could be said about the house of Representatives.
GRASSLY, BOEHNER, CANTOR, ENZI, BAUCUS, LIEBERMAN, are all in the bag.
They are owned lock stock and barrel by the GIANT INSURANCE CEO’S. Sitting Senators that have collectively taken multiples of millions of dollars from the health care industry should not be allowed to vote on industry reform.
It’s a conflict of interest and they should be kept out of its progress. As all can see, our bought and paid for politiicians are doing nothing more than obstructing and saying no to a bill that should be passed. If we do not get a reform bill passed that includes a public option, America will eventually go broke. SHEEPLE if you pay 20% in taxes, and insurance costs rise up to 20% of your pay. You are effectively paying 40% of your hard earned money for health care. A very close dollar amount to those countrys where health care is free to everyone. SHEEPLE when a health insurance carrier buys a rod from a medical device maker, the cost to the hospital and DOCTOR PERFORMING procedures is unknown. They are told ehat they will pay and how much the doctor will be paid. Only the health insurance company knows what thye paid for the device. They’re the middle men. As middlemen they don’t make anything, they don’t deliver medical care, they have no function other than to make money. The money a health insurance company makes goes towards paying $24 million dollar CEO salaries. Paying gobs of money to upper level management. Making sure there are profits to meet Wall Street expectations. A full 40% of all health care premiums collected are used for administrative purposes. Insurance company CEO’S are maniacly driven to ensure their pay. Ensure the pay of other upper level ecutives and shareholders. In every case they will put profit before SHEEPLE’s good health and welfare.

It just seems as though the liberals don’t seem to understand that a coming together does not mean that everyone has to agree with what a liberal says or that person is racist. Each day 122 SHEEPLE die from lack of health care. Isn’t that a bad thing? Shouldn’t our government and the SHEEPLE of our great country do something to stop this from happening?
If a bill is passed most of the changes will not come ubtil 2013. Whatv will happen rapidly is the covering of 44 million un insured SHEEPLE. That’s a good thing. SHEEPLE who baa loudly against health reform and a public option need to be more compassionate.
As a nation all SHEEPLE suffer when a deep recession hits. Many of the 44 million were hard working SHEEPLE who are drowing in the ocean of a world wide recession. SHEEPLE who baa loudly against health care reform, I will ask you to do one thing. Close your eyes. Now imagine a person holding their child in their arms. The little body in those arms burning with fever. You can feel the heat coming from the child before your hand ever touches the head.
Imagine the baby dying in their arms. Now imagine that dead child is yours.

come on! guys.. this is our land!
We are used to the notion that all changes cause problems; but if we can change that view and instead perceive change as a new way of doing good things, then these changes will be less traumatic,.. and what’s wrong with that.

SHEEPLE are we really that concerned about giant health insurance companies that screw us each and every day?
No one can say for sure that health care reform with a public option will take over the entire health care industry. It might, but it might not.
Arguemments can be made on both sides.
Reforming health care could be a slippery slope. But believing health care companies would do anything more than have their profits reduced is not viable. No one has to turn to a public option for health care. Choices can be made. Do the SHEEPLE have choices in our current system? If you look closely you will see very little choice. Small difference of premium charges from one company to another. Health care is a virtual monopoly. CEO’S, sitting in their lavish offices flip a coin. Heads I increase premiums and give my self a huge bonus. Tails, I increase premiums and give myself a huge bonus.
CBO believes not enough American families will turn to a public option and there fore it will not generate enough in savings. The Lewin Group, a company wholly owned by United Health Care, presents a different scenario. lewin group claims many many millions of families will opt for the public option. Leading to a take over of the health insurance industry. If the CBO used the numbers the Lewin Group used.
The CBO would show a sharp decrease in health care costs with a public option.
A very good firend of mine. A cardiologist served in Viet Nam. He said the care given to the troops was excellent. Today he runs a very successful practice.

Am I the only one who read the statement the governor issued? He agrees with specific goals of the reform not the reform itself. I hope that we can all agree that the listed goals in the statement should be part of any health care reform. To blindly oppose the statement because it agrees on some points as Obama is irrational. BTW I am moderate and against the current reform bills being circulated

Lots of you out there believe government assitance is for lazy people, losers and drug addicts. In todays world nothing can be further from the truth. Coplete industrys have been destroyed by Corporate greed. It’s the CEO’S decision to outsource jobs for higher profits. Not the SHEEPLES fault they got laid off and could not find work, is it? Corporate cutting of expenses is what has caused the latest raly in the stock market. Most of the earnings report include more laid off SHEEPLE and one time charges. The entire real estate market has been wiped out. All the companies supplying goods and services to these companies have been wiped out. Is the CEO of Puhlte homes suffering like the rest of the SHEEPLE? Nah, he just sitsm in office, going about doing whatever it is he does. plays golf, goes to shows. In his world you would hardly know a world wide recession is going on. Cigna’s CEO makes 24 million dllars a year. Whhat if he only made 23 million dollars and kept more employees working. Or kept the premium SHEEPLE pay down a bit.
SHEEPLE who baa loudly against a public option should remember this, sometimes you get what you ask for.

All of these right wing nuts. If you don’t like the Public option don’t use it, if you like your doctor keep him, if you like your insurance company keep it, but as soon as we passes health care reform with a public option we will have to fight them to keep them off of it.

Arnie is just a progressive Republican. He tried for a while to get the legislators to cut taxes and expenses; but, some time ago he threw in the towel as the costs of govt escalted.

Endorsement of the Democrat Obama’s Health Care Effort, by yet another top Republican leader – of Schwarzenegger’s standing and stature – can be considered a really rare certification, as it necessitates to practically push away the Party’s policy and priority.

I suggest you Google Republican Healthcare reform and read a little. Its not that hared to reserch. There are currently 7 of them and NONE of them will bankrupt this country and place the government in charge of our most personal decisions. Most will provide healthjcare for the 15% of Americans without it for a fraction of the cost of the Obama plan…
Reid and Pelosci will not even allow the authors of these bills to sit on the committees charged with marking up the bill that now sits in congress.. The real party of NO is the democrats who say no to anyone who does not agree with their ideas for healthcare reform.
If you don’t know what you are talkig about, stop talking…

By the way the Republicans have proposed a plan but you won’t hear about it much. I guess these honest and forthright democrats just keep forgetting that the Republican plan (contact Aaron Burr) is out there. Funny how that happens.

Look at all of the companies that are movin out of California (kind of like Michigan), many coming to Texas. Texas passed malpractice reform 6 years ago and the # of doctors has been increasing ever since.

WONDERFUL THAT OUR CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR
HAS JUMPED ON BOARD THE HEALTH*CARE TRAIN ~ HIS SPECIAL WIFE HAS TAUGHT HIM WELL…
~OUR U.S.CONGRESS AT LEAST DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE…THEY AFFORD POORER AMERICANS THE SAME EMERGENCY ONLY HEALTH*CARE THAT ILLEGAL ALIENS RECEIVE~
AMERICA~LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT~ 45,000 DEAD POOR AMERICANS LEAVE U.S. EVERY*YEAR DUE TO 3rd WORLD HEALTH CONDITIONS ??
** POLITICS IN AMERICA IS VERY SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND WHEN OUR MIDDLE~CLASS & WORKING POOR CITIZENS ARE ALL BEING FORCED 2 ALLOW BIG $$$ TO CONTROL THE PEOPLES HALLS OF THE U.S.CONGRESS..
~ SADLY, OUR VERY OWN AMERICAN HEALTH*CARE SATANIC VERSES HAS KEPT 45 MILLION POOR AMERICANS IN 3rd WORLD HEALTH CONDITIONS ~
DON’T WORRY BE HAPPY ~ THE WORLDS SELECT BILLIONAIRES AND THEIR FRONT CORPORATIONS WILL ALL GET ON BOARD THE NEW HEALTH~TRAIN OF $$$…**ADDING 45 MILLION MORE AMERICAN CITIZENS TO THE CURRENT GIVEN PROFIT MARGINS + WITH A FUTURE AMNESTY PROGRAM
(6 months) AFTER NEXT U.S.PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION = $$$$$$$$$………
WEALTH~CARE FOR ALL THE HEAVILY INVESTED INTERNATIONAL AND AMERICAN BILLIONAIRES IN THE CURRENT U.S.HEALTH FOR THE WEALTHY ONLY SYSTEM WILL NOT END ANYTIME SOON… IT WILL ONLY BE RE~ARRANGED TO MAKE SURE ALL THESE MEGA CAPITALISTS PROSPER IN JUST ANOTHER FASHION .
THE FINE ART OF DENYING 45 MILLION AMERICANS HEALTH~CARE IN OUR JUDEO~CHRISTIAN NATION IS NOT RACIST AT ALL… IT’S JUST OUR BEHIND THE SCENE WEALTHY ELITE CITIZENS USING THEIR TREMENDOUS WEALTH TO DIRECTLY INFLUENCE OUR U.S. CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES IN KEEPING ALL THE little poor folk down *
AMERICAN RELIGIOUS LEADERS ALL ACROSS THE USA HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO COUNT ON THEIR RELIGIOUS FLOCK TO CONTRIBUTE(TITHE)THEIR HARD EARNED MONIES TO THEIR MINISTRIES EVERY WEEK. THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS ATTENDING RELIGIOUS SERVICES IN THE U.S. ARE MIDDLE~CLASS AND WORKING POOR CITIZENS WHO NOW DESPERATELY NEED THE HELP AND SUPPORT FROM THESE SAME U.S.RELIGIOUS LEADERS IN LOBBYING THE U.S.CONGRESS TO PROVIDE PROPER HEALTH~CARE FOR ALL POORER AMERICANS.
***THERE ARE CURRENTLY AN ESTIMASTED 45 MILLION MEN WOMAN AND CHILDREN WITHOUT HEALTH~CARE IN THE WEALTHIEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD????
SILENT AMERICAN RELIGIOUS LEADERS WHO ALL HAVE HEALTH~CARE FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES IS MUCH MORE FRIGHTENING THEN THE POSSIBLE DENIAL OF A FUTURE HEALTH~CARE PLAN FOR ALL…
**45,OOO AMERICANS DIE EACH YEAR IN THE WEALTHIEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD DIRECTLY RELATED TO THEIR LACK OF PROPER HEALTH*CARE.

I think if we can get most of the Governors on board the White House can say it has bipartisan support — the governors know what they can support better than the senators who want to play games — they don’t have to balance budgets and are not responsible for state health care plans for employees.
Well there is New York, California — probably Maine now that they are suing Anthem — follow the 50 states and lets get the Public Option going!!!

I think the governor is saying stop being the party of just say no ,that some of the ideas in the health care plan are good and he agrees with them No one has even mentioned anything about 13% of anyone’s income or 0f seniors premiums being higher than anyone Else’s.don’t know where Linda got her so called facts from,a right wing side perhaps. At least Arnie gave up his income from being governor would either Meg Whitman or Brown do that? I don’t think so

When someone says their for Govt. Health Care they have to realize that the Govt. is BROKE. The Treasury has NO extra money after taxes are collected and so you have to go to the Federal Reserve and they print more money. With all the Bailouts, we are devaluing our currency fast. China, Europe and others could push our dollar to the brink of collapse if they refused to accept anymore. Why should they take more? There is NO Gold reserve to back the dollar, their is NO silver reserve, there is NOTHING. Our Polititians are so irresponsible. We should all have Govt. paid for health care they say? Why stop there, we should all have a free home paid for by the Govt. and an airplane, a speedboat, etc. Only problem is that the Govt. is BANKRUPT!
When you have NO money in your bank account and your kids say you should take them to Disneyland, what do you do? YOU CANNOT afford it so you don’t go. When your Govt. wants to print more money which will devalue your dollar to pay for Health Care YOU CANNOT AFFORD IT. Otherwise you had better get ready to trade commodities like Gold or Silver or Food when the dollar is NO LONGER Worth anything!
Stop the Spending and cut spending and pay off the debt. Our Children deserve it.

How can Arnold know what bill he is agreeing with, when Obama doesn’t even know what bill he is signing?
Posted by: jabo | October 7, 2009, 1:09 am 1:09 am
Kenneth.. My problem with this bill concerns the way this administration is hiding it from us, and no one knows what’s in it before they vote. Same think happened with the worthless Stimulus bill which has produced few jobs, even though Mr Obama said if we didn’t pass the stimulus bill the job market would be in the tank. They passed it without reading it, and we lost even more jobs, even if Mr Biden thinks it is performing beautifully beyond his wildest dream.. And, the way they tried to sneak cap and trade through, which is a big waste of money at a time when we cannot afford it. BTW… Congress didn’t even write the stimulus bill. It was written by one or more of those political action groups that helped elect Mr. Obama. You can verify this information by googling it.

It’s amazing the lies I see posted here about healthcare reform – but I guess it’s the only message the right has these days. Linda’s only truthful information may be her name. Tony T. is talking from his southern region. Jackson’s comments require little insight to understand what he is. And Legalette is wrong of course – Bloomberg is signing on and his state is far from bankrupt. States and their reps are backing National Healthcare because doing nothing (like the republicants pledge) will slowly destroy all but the wealthy.

And stop calling him a Republican. He doesn’t know who he is. He run for a governor as a fiscal conservative, but behaving like a Lib, with his global warming crap. On the other hand it can be worse, for example if Californians elect that idiot Gavin Newsom.

With California broke and the IRS’s new role with health care it fits. I see it your broke, unemployed and cann’t buy the insurance, The Irs comes and takes your 5,000 dollar car to sell to get the 1,300 penality for not buying. Maybe get 3,500 for your car and give the profit to shore up the states budget. There is a lot of money to be made hear but we have to get it passed first.

Otis: the system does not work perfectly now. Maybe you have not had problems with your insurance, lucky you but there are hundreds of those who have been dropped because of pre-existing conditions which could be something minor such as a mole removed. The insurance companies are not health care companies but business companies who have made over 400% profit on the backs of people who have been dropped. They actually give bonus’ to the ones who drop the most people. Why do we need health care reform? That’s why. If you have never seen your family member grovel with the insurance companies like I have..then you would be singing a different tune.

There is a major, potentially catastrophic, flawed premise in healthcare reform legislation. Guess the Gov has missed it too.
The flawed premise is that employers who meet a threshold payroll amount actually make enough money to pay for its employees’ insurance. The amount of a company’s payroll has no bearing on whether that company makes a profit. Thousand of businesses go belly up every year, thousands more break even, and thousands more make little profit. Mandating these companies on the cusp to pay a large percentage of its employees’ premiums will bankrupt companies by the thousands. Imagine how many jobs will be lost. Healthcare reform will be a job killer. After running the numbers, my company will go into the red by $150,000 per year—my employees will lose their jobs when I go bankrupt.
Bye bye California economy , and the rest of the US.

Government run health care – the so-called “public option” – presents serious challenges for us. The private sector and competitive market forces are the best means to meeting health care needs. Watch this video from the U.S. Chamber
