VIDEO: Ingraham: WH Tougher on Fox than Taliban
On the Roundtable, Fox News Contributor Laura Ingraham said that she wishes the White House would be as tough on Islamic jihadists as it is on Fox News. John Podesta fired back that might be the case “when the drones start flying over Fox News”. The White House war on Fox, Ingraham says, looks desperate, defensive and is a no-win situation. Plus, she says, it has Fox News executives smiling.

It is way past time for This Week to lose this bleach blond, annoying creep. Check out those hair roots. Who does she think she’s kidding? It’s a clever, visual metaphor/symbol: she presents herself, on the surface, as reasonable, meanwhile she is all dark and despicable beneath the “seeable” level. — L.I. is a shameless shill for the right-wing, ‘wingnut’ agenda. Her glib dismissal of Cheney and Bush’s culpability for the escalating, nightmarish drama in Afghanistan (among other hot topics) is reprehensible. Please punch her ticket and send Laura the Loser into the darkness.

I think you’re mistaking her with Coulter (who is equally as interesting). You mention the blonde hair on Ingram but not Ms Tucker’s botox abuse rendering her completely unable to show expression? How funny. C’mon man, she added some spark to that show.

Bring Laura back on…Ka-Pow! she delivers. The remark on ACORN/Charlie Gibson made me spit my coffee out I was laughing so hard. George looked slightly pale on that one. There are plenty of interesting conservative pundits to bring on, diversity is a good thing.

I fully support the WH’s “war” on Fox. I began my own war on Fox among my family and friends months ago because of Fox’s bias reports.
Posted by: golf4me2 | October 25, 2009, 1:14 pm 1:14 pm
Ingraham seems to be a bit defensive of anything right wing. Is that her designation on the show? The reason I tune in is to see smart people cutting through political spin and speaking candidly of the issues. She seems incapable of this. I want conservative minds on the show; I dont want ideologs. Why has Ingraham and the heros at Fox now decided to take on “unchecked” power? Where were they during the previous administration? Definitly not taking them on.
I think Stephanopolis should be a bit more selective with his guests. She seems a little out of place and childish… At least bring up the fact that she and Fox News both were staunch defenders of the previous administration, and the way they intimidated, manipulated, and bought the media…..

Laura knew she probably wouldn’t be invited back so she threw in the ACORN / Gibson zinger. Loved it.
I heard Gibson when he claimed he had not heard of the ACORN story – Amazing considering Obama’s past association and the lawsuits in play for their “indiscretions”.
There’s no denying that FOX rightfully pushed the legitimate story – just surprised that the Administration so quickly shot back at FOX — (“doth protest too much” ) denying that they are a “news” organization. Loved George S.’s quick change of subjects and quick defenses of WH.

Well, Laura, that was a cute soundbite that like everything Fox News, totally ignored the truth. Obama has made more concrete progress in nine months than Bush/Cheney did in eight years. Five GENUINE terrorist plots busted, the top Taliban in Pakistan killed, along with many other high ranking al qaeda and Taliban targets hit and killed in Pakistan and Afghanistan. It’s amazing what a President can accomplish by simply actually PAYING ATTENTION, something Bush studiously avoided as much as possible…which is why he could start, but not finish, two wars, one of which was totally unjustified by any military standard. She’s just another shill for Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes.
Posted by: windrider | October 25, 2009, 2:17 pm 2:17 pm
The Dems spend more time denouncing other Americans and Companies than they do fighting Al Qaeda and the Taliban. The letters to the contrary are a joke.
It is very apparent DC is stumbling and bumbling. They demonize the health care industry profits which actually are ranked 35th among industries. If the letter writers would only read and educate themselves. How many more troops will die in the last 3 months, while all this diterhing goes on?

“the liberals just hated Laura being present. I loved it.”
Actually no. I think her comments were valuable and offered a different perspective. Maybe George S. is trying to redeem himself after having that awful woman, Ann Coulter, on earlier during the week.
BTW, I’m not a liberal but when there are grown-up discussions, I like to see/hear grown-ups participate rather than self-promoting entertainers such as Ann Coulter.

I’ve listened to Laura many times on early morning radio. To describe her as a journalist is very forgiving. She is an editorialist with a Limbaugh, Hannity angle. I have deep sympathy for George Will, a conservative with a fair mind and wealth of knowledge. He’s seated next to Ingraham and must be either wildly amused or insulted. Either way, he keeps his cool while voicing insightful comments. I don’t always agree with people on the panel, but I usually respect their views. They make me think. Ingraham makes me hope that educators in America are working hard to teach the principles of propaganda and logical fallacy so that when kids hear the spiel, they recognize the ploy.
I will continue to tape the show to watch later, but I’ll get back to the dishes when the roundtable starts.

Sounds like Fox is on the defensive.Anyone affiliated with Fox is using the same line. This is a battle that has the potential to send Fox to the corner. Most of us take Fox for what it is. A right wing owned and operated network. But recently their “reporting” has crossed the line from opinion to innuendo. And outright lies and exaggerated reports. The only reason their ratings are up is because people are tuning in to see the crazy.
Posted by: Bea | October 25, 2009, 6:09 pm 6:09 pm
The only people saying the White House is at “war” with Fox News, are the Fox News people and their followers. Just because the White House responded to a question directly put to them about Fox News and they gave their opinion on the network, which is their prerogative.. now the Fox people are saying the White House is @ “war” with them to try and villianize the White House. Old psychological trick, if you can make the other guy look like the bad guy, then you’re the good guy. Hopefully, most of us are intelligent enough to see through this.

After Dan Rather and C-BS reported all the news that’s fit to make up, I really don’t think the Democrats have much room to talk. George Stephanopoulos was one of Clinton’s advisors, yet claims to be an unbiased reporter? Republicans can be hypocritical. Democrats have it down to an applied science.
At least Limbaugh admits he’s a mouthpiece for the right. Why can’t Stephanopoulus admit he holds the same position for the left? Come on George, surely you’re at least as honorable as Limbaugh. Aren’t you?

Oh, I just love Laura Ingraham. She is just too cool. And FOX? They’re going to buy ABC and make the whole newscasting thing uniform. That will allow them to fire more reporters and talking heads, like Stephanopolous and Tapper.
I know they’re already bought the local CBS station and now it sounds JUST like FOX! Same stories, same weatherman. And it is all just so cool! Just like Laura Ingraham, who should be a model for all women to imitate. She is so spiffy!!!!!!
…All of the above was posted because I decided that if I couldn’t post something negative about Laura on this website (I didn’t use profanity or anything objectionable) then I might was well be the puppet that they apparently want.

itl lulu…Good insightful comment. But that “old psychological ploy” comes straight from the “good old boy CONSERVATIVE” playbook. It is how the conservatives have turned less intelligent members of the middle class against the one entity that can protect us – our government. The only entity that can protect us from the ravages of the “unregulated free enterprise greed mongers” that contribute so many dollars to their cause. Thus they turn the middle class against itself. Any wonder why the middle class’ economic status has been stagnant the last two decades? And all while the poor get poorer. Hopefully this administration will change that. These greed mongers do not want to see a balanced playing field and with FOX they are using every dirty trick in the world to keep their status quo.

I’ve always respected This Week because of the civil discourse among the panelists. Don’t take it down by inviting guests who feel compelled to make such outrageous statements by saying the White House is more “impassioned” about Fox News than “jihadists.” While this may seem funny, it smacks of the “over the top” political dialogue all too many are willing to have in this country. She’s free to say what she wants, just don’t legitimize her vitriol by putting her on This Week. Please, let me have safe haven from this kind of nonsense when I watch your program.

What are they so afraid of? I’m personally not reading too much into either side, but I do think there are things that should be considered “news” and reported by all outlets. I was shocked by how little coverage was given to the recent Acorn scandal, when Acorn itself played such a huge role in Obama’s election. You are the company you keep…and all that.

As a former Republican, now a an Independent, Nancy Pelosi has just found a new best friend in Laura Ingraham. Shrews of a feather flock together! No wonder everytime Fox News goes up a point, the GOP goes down. Acorn is such a non story not even Sir Charles took it seriously. Even if you grant everything Fox News says as true, double, triple and quadruple the level of White House corruption, unlike John McCain, at least Obama can remember how many houses he owns! Besides, if Laura Ingraham is such a good Christian, why isn’t she following the commandments of Fox News Saints like the Rev. Huckabee? Barefoot and pregnant and down on her knees scrubbing the floor of her lord and master the way the Bible commanded her to do, at least according the Rev. Huckabee’s Evangelical CooCoo’s? Like I said, there is no double in my mind that Nancy Pelosi has a new best friend in Laura Ingraham; furthermore, with friends like Fox News, I would not be at all surprised if come 2011, the GOP didn’t have one single seat left in the House of Representatives!

“Laura Ingraham said that she wishes the White House would be as tough on Islamic jihadists as it is on Fox News. ” President Obama wouldn’t have been my first choice for President but I’m also not irrational. her comment is both ridiculous and points out exactly why Fox news gets criticized. It’s recipe is to take just enough of the facts so as to not ‘always’ be a complete lie and mixes it with outlandish and extreme opinion. Ms. Ingraham grow up and you may be taken seriously. Your extremist ideology drove you to despise and vilify your own brother… shouldn’t that tell you something about what’s at the heart of it?

This Week needs to stop using Laura Ingraham. She is a hack who lost all credibility years ago, and is now known most for using inflammatory language in a desperate attempt to get attention. She has been known for 25 years (since I first knew of her in college) for vicious attacks on those who disagree with her politically or personally, including gay-bashing that almost got her expelled. She has not changed, but her audience has (unfortunately) gotten larger. There are many conservatives who provide thoughtful, intelligent commentary and can add to the round table discussions in a meaningful way. Please use them in the future and stay away from this toxic mouthpiece for the most radical right.

A little note to Laura Ingrham. This is the first time the white house even mentioned Fox and wow what a reaction. They have some nerve after all they have pontificated against our President since the second day of his administration Hannity proclaimed the Republicans will never work with him and he was right. It seems to me that Fox is the one who cannot take criticism. One thing for sure…they are not a news network…they do not only report news, they interpret it to their opinions, Hannity, Beck and Limbaugh. They distort the facts and twist sentences to mean what they want it to mean. I cannot say O”Reilly is as quilty. He at least gives the guest a chance to express their views without interruption and if he disagrees, he say so but he never puts them down. Many people will not come on Hannity not because they are afraid but because they know they will never get a chance to speak. Beck is a clown…the person with a little bit of knowledge…you know the dangerous part. Many people who listen to them like them because they say things to put the people in authority down and it makes them feel better about themselves. Others listen for laughs and do not agree with Hannity at all and I have heard them say so. Others like a challenge and love to call to try to debate Hannity but they never get the chance to speak.
My feeling is this….we we get a new president, they should not be condemned on the second day of their administration nor should anyone wish they fail and work toward that goal as Hannity and Beck do every day. That is why they are not a news program….they are an opinion program. Cnn, Abc, tell the news and do not give their personal opinions…that is a news show. Yes, they have groups on to hear both sides but the announcers never take sides and that is the way it should be to achieve creditability.

I think the panel let Fox “News” off easy. Ingraham said that the media is supposed to hold politicians accountable but for 8 years, Fox “News” did nothing of the sort. It’s only true news organizations like ABC News that hold politicians accountable, regardless of party. And that’s the easiest way to tell that Fox isn’t a true news organization. Arguments that the rest of the news media and hollywood are exclusively liberal are tired generalizations that don’t hold up to scrutiny.

I think it is good to have people like Laura Ingram on…she illustrates just how biased Fox really is. She is condensending but we should let her speak as she reinforces what many of us feel. Fox hates Obama. Now let’s get real…even if you don’t like him, he has done a great deal in 9 months. Hate crimes bill passed, children’s health care, equal pay for women (Laurea should be praising that point)no more torture, closing of Quantanomo, getting after the credit card industry, insurance industry and finally health care. It is about time someone took on health care…reps. had 8 years to do this and did not…now they should be quite or help. Ms. Snowe found a chair and I am sure there are many left so step up or shut up.
