Top counselor to the President, Valerie Jarrett, offered the first White House comment on Afghanistan presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah’s withdrawal from the run-off election scheduled for next weekend, saying that it will not further complicate the U.S. strategy in the region.
Jarrett also acknowledged to me this morning that the President’s long awaited decision on Afghanistan could slip to late November. “The President will make a decision when he is confident he has all the facts he needs,” she said, this morning on 'This Week.'
