Global Warming Partisan Divide

Our latest ABC News Washington Post poll shows that there is a deep partisan divide the issue with 54% of Republicans saying they believe global warming is occurring, compared to 74% of all Americans.

Add to that the growing controversy over e-mails reportedly from the Climate Research Institute, which critics of global warming say provide evidence that the science is skewed,  and the climate change debate is really heating up.

Watch the debate on our Roundtable:

Weakening magnetic field, active sun cycle? Earth has been considerably hotter in the past. Too many variables to be conclusive. That said we should all conserve and research alternative energy sources.

I’ve spent 4 decades studying global climate change and as a scientist I am appalled at Krugman’s cavalier shrugging off the Hadley email scandal as ‘just the way scientists talk among themselves.’ That’s like saying it’s alright for politicians to be corrupt because that’s the way they are. Legitimate scientists do not doctor data, delete data they don’t like, hide data they don’t want seen, hijack the peer review process, personally attack other scientists whose views differ from theirs, send fraudulent data to the IPCC that is used to perpetuate the greatest hoax in the history science, provide false data to further legislation on climate change that will result in huge profits for corrupt lobbyists and politicians, and tell outright lies about scientific data.

Real science does not depend upon how many republicans, democrats, scientists or the general public believe something.
It’s not about belief it’s about data. the data do not show that man can do anything to alter climate. Congress needs to give ear to Britain’s Lord Monckton (who Al Gore does not choose to debate) and MIT’s Professor Richard Lindzen and view their data.
Real science keeps an open door for all the evidence. Obama, like Al Gore, has chosen to favor consensus science as opposed to experimental science. However, even the consensus is changing unless they shop carefully for the political correct, as did Waxman-Markey!

The email controversy shows to me serious evidence of deceit in ‘proof’ that has not passing the smell test for me for a long time.
Let me start by stating my beliefs… I believe in sustainable practices. We should have energy, manufacturing, agricultural and life practices thatt leave out planet the way we found it. We should give our children at least what was left to us if not better. I believe that any pollution is pollution, and our environment is at stake. I believe in efficient and economical use of resources. The use of discrete and limited resources for energy production is non-sustainable therefore we must move to something that is.
Having said that, AGW is BS and is junk science. The reported cause and effect do not make sense. There are people and forces in the world for whom the ends justify the means… including lying to the public. That above everything else, I cannot tolerate.
Ultimately, if we cannot use honest scientific methods devoid of political influence to determine cause and effect, we fail. We run the risk of ‘fixing’ the wrong problem. Creating public hysteria will certainly result in bad policy.
The time is now to run the ‘bad’ science and politicizing out of town, so serious discussions using sound evidence to solve real problems can happen. The current ‘consensus’ does not tolerate new data and/or explanations. Is that the world you want to live in? Not I.

The imminence of Global Warming is the not the most pressing question. Because most of the proposed “Global Warming” legislation is aimed at reducing man’s output of CO2, the most important question is that of man’s actual contribution to any possible global warming. A recent Pew Research Center poll shows that only 36% of responders felt that human activities are causing any possible temperature increase.
Given the unknown of man’s effect and the recent revelations from the CRI emails which brings into question the very basis of the Global Warming claims, and given the extremely negative economic consequences that would result from the CO2 reductions being bandied about and possibly considered in the U. S. Congress, I would expect that ABC News would immediately undertake a very in-depth study to obtain the truth for all Americans.
Also, if it is determined that the Oceans will rise to destructive levels in the near future then any legislation being considered should be aimed at helping those affected rather than limiting our lifestyle.

Global warming may or may not be happening but as we now know, all that’s certain about global warming, is that it is definitely man-made.
Made up by the huge UN sponsored climatic research industry, to justify its own existence.
Shameful.

For most of this week I like most minded people have been completely absorbed by the revelations coming from the e-mails from the Climate Research Unit at The University of East Anglia. Given the lack of reporting from the “trusted” alphabet soup of news organizations, ABC,CBS,CNN,BBC we have ourselves read the e-mails and inspected the notes in the code. My understanding is that the CRU headed by Dr Jones supplied the data in their possession to the United Nations IPCC to support the UN goal of implementing Cap and Trade legislation on the whole world in order to combat a man made contribution to the destruction of the world. A “if we do not act quickly there is no hope scenario” much like the financial bailouts No Time to Think Trust Us This is TOO BIG TO FAIL! Trust is what the e-mails from the CRU speak to and manifest. How can I trust the data used to create the theory that Global Warming was man made and not influenced more by an object 93 million miles away that constitutes 99% of the mass of the solar system and in which we live, in its “atmospheric influence”, recognizing that it only takes 8 min for the warm to reach us. All we ever asked for was Show Us the Math!, well we have seen the math and we have seen collusion, and we have seen stifling of criticism or inspection, and we have seen the trick of adding real temps where your code fails so that anyone else that has records from 1961 on cannot refute your algorithm, and we have seen willful and criminal misuse of US taxpayers money (Roger’s missed trip and all the stuff you did not buy that US hardworking and suffering taxpayers paid for through the NOAA), and we have seen the deliberate destruction of evidence in the face of Freedom of Information Act requests. I am more concerned about what we have not seen. I have not seen or heard a peep from Al Gore. I still see the President of the United States prepared to agree to putting a greater burden on the US taxpayer in the now unfounded belief that somehow man was responsible for this last period of warming that certainly ended more than 10YEARS AGO! Hide the decline my great-mother! I as a law abiding tax paying citizen of the United States Demand a Federal Investigation of this matter Climategate!

“I have not seen or heard a peep from Al Gore. ” Bondservant1958.
It has long been practised by such types to ignore any voices of doubt or dissent, so as not to give them publicity.
Now that the warmmies have been found out ‘though, they’re still hoping that ignoring it will make it go away… at least for a couple of weeks, until Copenhagen is in the bag.
Who are the Deniers now, Eh ?

We are in one of the coldest years on record………….and yet many think we are still be globally warmed or ABC is just flat out making polls again. Either way, this reflects badly on the media seeing as how much they have been covering the global warming scam.

Posted by: VeryPainfulTruth | November 29, 2009, 4:02 pm 4:02 pm

The CRU no longer even has the raw data:
People will go to jail over this. There is no hiding behind credentials and “Science” anymore.
There is now no proof of global warming because there is no reliable record of temps before about 1960 and the space age. The job of the CRU was to be the repository of the past data. If they have trashed the raw data it will have to be reconstructed and much of the raw data will probably have been lost (because everyone thought that the CRU had it).

Posted by: Me | November 29, 2009, 4:02 pm 4:02 pm

SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based.
It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.
The UEA’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was forced to reveal the loss following requests for the data under Freedom of Information legislation.

Global Warming is manmade. Just look at the emails by the supposed ‘top-notch’ scientists who scuttled any evidence to the contrary. Scientists have for years been dismissing opposing data that indicates that there is no scientific basis to point to man as the chief cause of global warming.
The global warming theorists have been propping up their theory with biased data for decades. Therefore global warming IS manmade. A manmade hoax.

Posted by: Tom | November 29, 2009, 4:48 pm 4:48 pm

“… believe global warming is occurring …”
What a ridiculous question. The globe has been warming since the last ice age. There is NO controversy about increasing temperatures on a centennial scale. None. The only relevant question is whether human CO2 emissions are the cause. Period.
It *is* important that global temperatures have *not* increased since Al Gore opened his mouth in 1998. If there is any anthropogenic warming evidence, it’s a strong correlation to Gore’s hot air.
The reality is that science, in the form of concrete evidence, simply doesn’t know, and may not know for several decades, the multiple causes of climate change. Any other claim is just shrill rhetoric and political posturing.

ABC – You call this reporting a week late ? George – what do say to the kids ?
Daddy, why are we killing the polar bears with global warming ?
Oh sweetie, come here and sit down for a minute. You see, certain scientists told the world some lies about this thing called global warming. Then, leaders from around the world supported those lies and told more lies of their own. Even our leaders here in America told us lies too about how this made-up thing would hurt people.
Look peanut, these people did a really bad thing. Their lies have cost trillions of dollars and wasted people’s time and energy all around the world. But now these bad people have been caught lying so don’t worry, the polar bears will be fine and we will all be ok.
Now I want you to go out and play and stop thinking about this stuff some people at school and other places have put in your head. Go out and have fun and just remember, don’t tell lies, they might affect the whole world someday.
End of Story

George:
I respect you as a man of integrity. I would hope that you push hard for ABC to start reporting this.
This will trump Watergate and the Pentagon Papers by miles and miles.
The “we have thrown away the raw data” that Mr. Jones now admits to doing is unheard of in any scientific study.
Also, the adjusting of the temps to fit the need is NOT science.
I hate having to find news on blogs, rather than credible sources. By ABC’s lack of coverage, that is what is happening.
This is a crime against humanity as it has diverted resources from helping people to funding a pure hoax.

An English professional s/w developer writes after doing an impromptu multi-day code review of the leaked FOIA zip source code:
“In their defense the CRU note that their temperature series mostly agrees with the ones from NCDC and GISS as if this excuses the abysmal quality of the processing. This is indeed true but given that there is SIGNIFICANT SHARED SOURCE DATA and apparent COOPERATION BETWEEN TEAMS this is NOT PRECISELY REASSURING. I haven’t paid any attention in this analysis to the mathematical calculations being done since that’s not what I can readily comprehend but it seems quite likely that each system applies similar data “cleansing” and “homogenizing” because the synthetics (see above) are going to be similar. Hence the CONFIRMATION BIAS PROBLEM as results that don’t match up with the other two will tend to be scrutinized (and possibly adjusted) while the ones that do are left alone. Since the adjustment mechanism, indeed the entire process, is opaque the claim that black box 1 produces are result similar to black box 2 IS NOT CONVINCING.” Link here …

It’s not just the email that is damning, it’s the code that proves fraud.
Unfortunately, politicians are in too deep to change their views now, particularly since a potentially new revenue stream is coming up in the Senate called cap and trade.

After the Climategate data has been parsed through, Climate Science will be known for its actions:
a) subversion of the peer review process
b) data destruction/manipulation
c) obstruction of FOIA
d) breach of codes of ethics
e) manufactured scientific consensus
All other scientists should be outraged as their credibility is also taking a huge hit. Who can trust science if this is allowed to happen?

Emails are not science. What amazes me is how you can ignore the science that is there? The glaciers all got together with the artic ice and decided to melt for no reason? Ocean levels decided to rise because it was fun? One day I hear these are due to changes in the sun’s cycle (why believe that science?) Another day I hear they are not happening.
I guess the best solution from the points of view given above is to buy more sand, so you can all bury your heads deeper in it.

Your reporting is exactly what I would expect.
I was at Purdue University in 1970 when you showed TV film footage of the riots at Purdue – Just one problem THERE WERE NO RIOTS – no student gatherings – nothing!!!! In other words YOU LIED just like you and the rest of the alphabet soup is lying now about Global Warming.
The 1917 Congressional Record shows banking interests bought out the news media that year and we haven’t had fair unbiased reporting ever since!
I hope being a traitor to your country and the people of the world as you sell them out to the bankers pays well enough to quiet your Conscience. Especially when in coming years you see what you have done to this once great country.
Do not believe me? Then check out the document written by Lord Stern, World Bank Chief Economist last May. Lord Stern published a set of proposals for a global deal on climate change at the London School of Economics and Political Science. The document, was called Key Elements of a Global Deal.
Then check out the morality of the World Bank/IMF
“Today I resigned from the staff of the International Monetary Fund after over 12 years, and after 1000 days of official fund work in the field, hawking your medicine and your bag of tricks to governments and to peoples in Latin America and the Caribbean and Africa. To me, resignation is a priceless liberation, for with it I have taken the first big step to that place where I may hope to wash my hands of what in my mind’s eye is the blood of millions of poor and starving peoples. Mr. Camdessus, the blood is so much, you know, it runs in rivers. It dries up too; it cakes all over me; sometimes I feel that there is not enough soap in the whole world to cleanse me from the things that I did do in your name and in the name of your predecessors, and under your official seal…..”
Or look at Confessions of an Economic Hitman – describing how as a highly paid professional, John Perkins helped the World Bank. cheat poor countries around the globe out of trillions of dollars by lending them more money than they could possibly repay and then take over their economies.
“….He was an amazing man, Torrijos. And so, he died in a fiery airplane crash, which was connected to a tape recorder with explosives in it, which—I was there. I had been working with him. I knew that we economic hit men had failed. I knew the jackals were closing in on him, and the next thing, his plane exploded with a tape recorder with a bomb in it. There’s no question in my mind that it was C.I.A. sanctioned, and most—many Latin American investigators have come to the same conclusion. Of course, we never heard about that in our country….”
These are the people who are plotting to be our new lords and masters with the help of U.N NGOs, the corrupt news media and the Poltical Activists they have duped for years.

lizma, is Obama’s concern for being a global president what is driving him forward on health care reform ahead of AGW action? Your statement on that makes no sense, and is purely inflammatory.
Cap and trade hits some businesses and supports other businesses, all in the US. Why is it that people love coal companies? Coal companies do not contributea large amount to the US economy, and when transmission costs, rail costs, non-AGW environmental costs, and health effects are considered (we do pay for them, one way or another), coal COSTS our economy (meaning you and me) money. Not hard to figure out, if you take the time.

previous comment: “It’s not about belief it’s about data. the data do not show that man can do anything to alter climate.” — This is a false presumption. The only explanation that fits all the data is that greenhose gases produced by humans are indeed the main cause of the recent climate shift. Everything else has been taken into account and ruled out. We see a lot of baseless conjectures being thrown around, but where are the scientific studies that disagree with AGW?

First, it’s not the email that is damning! IT’S the CODE that has notations on it advising how the data is manipulated to result in an “appropriate” warming curve. HELLO!!! RE-READ WHAT I JUST WROTE!!! To heck with the emails!!! THE notations on the code are straight up proof that these so called scientists were cooking the books.
Additionally, if this issue has boiled down to a political point- then one should question the science behind it automatically- what is the motivation? Who’s pockets are being lined? (besides Algore’s) and when is Oxygen Hydroxide (aka H2O) going to be considered a pollutant as it is water vapor that accounts for far more “global warming”. CO2 output by humans is a mere .02% of total atmospheric CO2.

Posted by: Chris | November 29, 2009, 6:47 pm 6:47 pm

Global Warming, now dubbed “climate change” due to the cooling evidence, is about faith- not science. Just like certain groups refuse to believe in evolution the “global warming” crowd will stick to their idea no matter when evidence comes out against it, no matter that emails show arguably show fakery or fraud, no matter that certain companies will profit immensely from it, no matter that the earth used to be A LOT hotter (and cooler) at times through the ages. You cannot argue facts against faith.
ps: I doubt certain people (Gore, the big banks, oil companies) believe in the “warming” but are instead using it for personal wealth and power aggrandisement (though cap&trade, UN mandates, taxation schemes, and to punish industry competitors).

Fortunately, the UK press is going after this more so than our main (lame) stream media. And, just today I read where the University of East Anglia, where the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) is housed is now starting an investigation of the scientists and the climate research program. They are ensuring that all data and source codes will be made available for scrutiny. Penn State, where Michael Mann is employed, is also gearing up to have a look/see at just what the eminent climate scientist has been up to. It will be interesting what the journals Science and Nature publish this week in their editions. Once this is reported on by Science, Nature and other publications, and the universities launch their own investigations then the lame stream media will reluctantly have to join in. The politicians will have, and keep, their heads in the sand, as usual.

Aren’t they admitting either:
1) That their news organization is irrelevant and that they understand that informed individuals get their information elsewhere?
or

I just performed another review of H.R. 2454 as submitted to the senate and it is undoubtedly the worst ever bill concocted by the congress. It opposes personal freedoms to a degree that I find it hard to believe any lawmaker would vote for it. It would have a federal government over-running state sovereignty to a degree never before proposed. Certainly those who sponsored or voted for this bill do not hold the constitution or state’s rights in very high esteem. Also the cost impact to the individual and family has been underestimated to the point of fraud. This bill should it become law will destroy the economy, eliminate jobs, increase the size of the federal and state governments and who knows what other unconsidered trickle-down impacts and costs.
Today it’s not just tea-baggers who are in opposition since the AGW fraud has been exposed and has been given a name CLIMATE-GATE it is not going away. I think it would be political suicide for any elected official to support this bill. Al Gore declined to debate Lord Monckton on the subject and Henry Waxman cancelled an invitation for Lord Monckton to appear opposite Al Gore in his hearing, so my conclusion is fraud, fraud, fraud! Real science respects an open door, not a closed door. Gore and the IPCC tout a consensus but the petition against AGW now has 31,478 scientists and 9,029 PhDs as signatories, so it seems that it is not only public opinion that is waning..

The longer mainstream media ignores and trivilizes climeategate, the more irrelevant they become.
Newspaper coverage has been a joke, and the so-called major electronic media (once called “broadcasting” companies) has been no better.
Instead of focusing on the fraud and lies global warming is based on*, there is silly “reporting” that would embarrass a 7th grade school newspaper reporter.
Time to get a clue, folks. They really did lie and commit fraud.
(Yes, I have a degree in science – M.D., and I program computers for sport in my spare time. Forget the emails; the code is evidence of crime.)

Scientific data shows that most of the planets in our solar system are also showing evidence of ‘warming’.
I wonder what we did to cause that?

We are missing the big issue here that if Obama signs The Copenhagen Treaty it would supersede the Constitution of the United States and Bill of Rights. This treaty is based on the “Global Warming/Climate Change” scam which will be used to set up taxes paid to a “communist, one‐world government”. How come we do not see a in depth report on ABC? Where is John Stossel and Hugh Downs when we need them?

At last AGW is exposed for the fraud it is, as are those who support it, even when evidence of fraud screams in their faces.
If the evidence were so conclusive, no fraud would have been necessary. The fact is that they had to use phony data, statistical and other analytical “tricks,” intimidate and suppress their opponents, destroy incriminating evidence (including original data) and much much more, violate federal laws (including obstruction of FOI requests) in order to make AGW appear real, when it is not. That is not, as Krugman falsely asserts, “the way scientists talk to each other.” That may be the way leftists talk to the rest of us, but that is NOT how we “talk to” anyone, least of all each other.

There’s a broad worldwide consensus of scientific opinion that global warming is indeed occurring. I’m sorry for those whose belief system, political ties or financial interests somehow does not allow them to accept this. The facts are what they are.

Posted by: hopesprings52 | November 29, 2009, 10:27 pm 10:27 pm

The data that was released with all the email hacked from CRU this last week, known as “ClimateGate”, will change the debate on Global Warming. The emails are bad, but the data files are worse. CRU looks to have lost large parts of their data and made the new files conform to expected values. The programmer comment files are worth reading as he could validate very little of the data that remained, and made quite a bit up to fit expected values just to make the program work. As many peer reviewed papers use CRU data as a basis of their paper, and CRU can be shown to have submitted bad data, this calls into question the entire paper. As professional reputations are on the line, the fallout will be interesting to watch.

Posted by: Ed Forbes | November 29, 2009, 11:05 pm 11:05 pm

The comments about how Americans think about global warming didn’t make the significant distinction between those who think global warming is real, and those who think man-made global warming is real. The recent Pew poll indicated that only 37% of Americans think that man-made global warming is real. And this was prior to the rapidly developing Climategate scandal, which likely will cause that 37% figure to drop significantly.

How can you continue to put Krugman on? What an inane apologist for everything liberal, collectivist, dangerous and criminal. “just the way they talk amongst themselves”? Really? George! Cokie! Somebody wake up! Hello, there hasn’t been any global warming in ten years. Can you hear me now?

There is a broad worldwide consensus that the idea of global warming is good for liberal business, therefore we must support those scientists who demand more cash so they can continue to study this.

Paul Krugman leaves you wondering if all economists are equally as corrupt as these “climate scientists.”

Posted by: John_Q_Public | November 30, 2009, 1:01 am 1:01 am

It is time for us to clearly distinguish phony scientist and real scientists. The real scientist does honest work, collect data and draw honest conclusion. The phony scientists ( or politicians) usually dont have much scientific credential and tries to draw wrong conclusions to alarm the world, suppress other people’s data for publication while trying to push for government legislation and get rich from securing big government funding.

Posted by: austin | November 30, 2009, 1:12 am 1:12 am

Hmmm… this is some thread. First off, I agree with Krugman. I don’t know what world you live in, but climate denial is big business funded by the current energy sector. How much money did Barton rake in from the oil sector again, and wasn’t it he the one that commissioned the Wegman report?
Second, I’m thrilled the President is going to Copenhagen.
Third, no “fraud” has occurred and global warming theory hasn’t unraveled because of a few scientists and a couple lines out of hundreds of lines of evidence that are controversial.
Fourth, I found this quote by science historian Spencer Weart spot on:
“Even the tobacco companies never tried to slander legitimate cancer researchers. In blogs, talk radio and other new media, we are told that the warnings about future global warming issued by the national science academies, scientific societies, and governments of all the leading nations are not only mistaken, but based on a hoax, indeed a conspiracy that must involve thousands of respected researchers.
Extraordinary and, frankly, weird. Climate scientists are naturally upset, exasperated, and sometimes goaded into intemperate responses… but that was already easy to see in their blogs and other writings.”
Spreading disinformation about science is nothing new– but it disturbs me that there are so many people duped by the disseminators of disinformation (about so many different things nowadays.)

Posted by: Serafina | November 30, 2009, 1:17 am 1:17 am

I’m wondering why the ABC gives airtime to people who lie like KRUGMAN. Anyone who is conscious should know that questioning global warming was enough to have people right you off as insane and decimate your career in science. Even “the Skeptic” magazine was buying it without question. But that was last week. Now it’s their turn

Posted by: bruce | November 30, 2009, 1:51 am 1:51 am

I got this link from a blog that has been talking about the Hadley/CRU files for over a week. This pathetic attempt by ABC to get into the story by doing anything but discuss the actual content of the emails (ie quote the most egregious word for word) is why the MSM is irrelevant. There is no “other side” to these emails they represent a collapse of any crediblity of the IPCC reports. “Taken out of context” indeed!

Posted by: Rob Herron | November 30, 2009, 2:03 am 2:03 am

If you believe “thousands of scientists believe AGW,” it is also a fact (see fact vs. belief) that thousands of real scientists don’t. Check out the Global Warming Petition Project website.
Signatories to the petition are required to have formal training in the analysis of information in physical science. Persons who have signed include over 9,000 scientists with Ph.D. degrees, 2,500 people with M.D. degrees , and over 7,000 with M.S. degrees. The rest hold at minimum a B.S. degree.
The Petition Project is financed by non-tax deductible donations to the Petition Project from private individuals, many of whom are signers of the petition. The project has no financing whatever from industrial sources.
Time to get a clue, folks. The pseudo-scientists lied and committed fraud. And since they have conveniently lost or destroyed the original raw data, they want us to just trust them? If you believe them, I have bridge I’m selling you’ll just love.

Posted by: johnsmoothy | November 30, 2009, 2:20 am 2:20 am

I have no beliefs. I do not “believe in sustainable practices” or eternal salvation, the Tooth Fairy or omniscient, omnibenevolent government.
To the best of my ability, I work from objective, verifiable facts. The most reliable way to ascertain, verify, and interpret factual information is the scientific method, which does not rely on “consensus” any more than it relies upon belief.
One scientist with the facts trumps all the other scientists in the world when those other scientists are basing their opinions on inaccurate data and/or screwed-up methodology.
“Man-made global warming” started as an error. Unfortunately, the people now exposed by the Climategate archive got rewarded with great praise and prestige for their “Chicken Little” conclusions and have spent the past 20 years and more covering up their errors.
A mere scientific mistake became a concerted fraud, supported by professional liars (Al Gore, Barack Obama, Newt Gingrich, Henry Waxman, John McCain), and it’s being used to ram “cap-and-trade” down the throats of people all over the world.
Useless laws and regulations predicated upon bogus science to destroy YOUR job, raise YOUR taxes, impoverish YOUR family, and ruin YOUR life.
For absolutely NO purpose whatsoever.
And here we’ve got Paul Krugman – ex-Enron consultant – giving you the proverbial hand-wave and telling you to “Ignore that man behind the curtain!”

79 Billion paid out by those invested in the conspiracy bought the global warming hoax of disaster, and the use of false data worldwide.
Medieval warming period they faked data to hide did not put the world’s coasts underwater.
Whole thing proves that academia is not only as easily corrupted by big money as anyone else, but shows outside of their historians, they totally suck in knowing any history as well.
I can only imagine what the historians have been thinking about this panic to prevent naturally occurring weather changes that they were fully aware of.

Water is the real crisis impending, while global warming caused by man has been a hoax.
All of the leaked emails, especially the part about their faking data to cover the natural Medieval warming period proves it, and all of their false data is what other centers worldwide have been forced to match up with, with 79 billion of funding given to make certain of it.
Meanwhile, water rights world wide are being bought up. Just plug in the names of “various” nations and the words “bought water rights” to see what is going on.

Count on ABC to ask the wrong question in their poll. The question is NOT whether global warming is occurring, but rather whether man-made activity is largely responsible for global warming.
And when you ask is global warming occurring it would be nice to give a time horizon. Have global temperature risen over the last 50 years? Yes Have the risen over the last 10 years? No.
Is man largely responsible for global warming? Probably not.

Instead, this “news organization” would rather bury the news and allow our government to impose huge cost burdens on its citizens.
Thanks for being there, ABC. Maybe Diane Sawyer will have Al Gore on in 5 years, touting his “richest man in the world” mantra.

If there is anyone with integrity in the MSM it must be hard to be silent about the biggest story of the decade. Even this coverage is BS. The figure in the poll did not ask about AGW, which is much lower than those believing GW. I can’t waste my time with MSM but I heard George didn’t even cover any emails. Don’t they know we get news from the internet and they look ridiculous hiding it? Obama better hurry and regulate the internet before the MSM becomes extinct.

Oh, could I be any more angry at the disingenuous, intellectually dishonest red herrings that are thrown about as if they were at issue?
54% of Republicans and 74% of all Americans, believe global warming is occurring. BUT THAT ISN’T AT ISSUE. ONLY A MORON (or someone with a political grinder to spin) would state it that way.
The only climate change “deniers” (skeptics?) I know are in the AGW Warmist camp. They alone believe that the earth’s climate would NOT have changed had it not been for that human-produced portion of the atmospheric trace-gas called CO2 — unlike all the past, when the climate changed and varied dramatically, and without regard to our contributions.
Now, who is it, exactly, that doesn’t believe in climate change? All the skeptical scientists I know do. The climate has always changed, and always will. To try to say or imply otherwise is to be A Denier of the worst kind.

Hey ABC, where is your headline coverage or coverage of this at all? Again, why is only FOX and other “centered” or “right-leaning” news agencies covering this? Even the left leaning New York Times has covered this debacle. Micheal Mann (one of the key climate “scientists” at Penn State is being investigated by Penn State in an internal investigation as a fallout of climate gate. There is another non-related investigation of the carbon trading market that could be potentially larger than the Bernie Madoff scandal in dollars. Come on, ABC stop selecting the news and just report it. I like Tiger Woods, but I could care less about his personal event car crash and would think this subject of man-made climate change merits way more attention!!

Posted by: Jeff | November 30, 2009, 8:17 pm 8:17 pm

Why isn’t ABC News all over the climategate story? This is the biggest story of the last 100 years, because the implications of it are so vast. But there’s hardly a peep about it anywhere, including ABC. The silence is deafening, to coin a phrase. There’s plenty about Tiger Woods and the party crashers, though. Compared to important things like the climate scandal, Really, who cares about the trivial stories? If ABC is missing the boat on this one, what other stories are you sitting on/ignoring? You people are either corrupt or inept. Either way, you’re no better than ‘FOX News’ or ‘The National Enquirer’. America deserves better TV journalism. Shame.

Krugman’s deceit/ignorance is an outrage.; Anyone who really want’s the truth must read the “harry read me file” It’s obvious the media will not cover the REAL story…the smoking gun?????? The data has been exposed as worthless! They can’t even keep track of thier own data. program was just fed alterante realities until it achieved the desired results.

Posted by: teton | November 30, 2009, 11:34 pm 11:34 pm

It really does amaze me that this is getting so little play in the mainstream media. This is going to be the story of the century and many are still saying that “the science is settled.” I thought it was a known fact that science is RARELY settled…it is based on what we know NOW!
This particular field of study has only been around for a short time and these pompus scientist and politicians act like it is absurd to question them…and the majority of the public just blindly believe and follow and yet complain that the weatherman can’t get the forecast right.
In the fourth grade we all learned about the “Water Cycle” which tells us:
More heat = more evaportation = more clouds and precipitation
More clouds = less sun = less heat
Long before the industrial revolution the planet experienced several hot/cold cycles and suddenly this most recent upswing is OUR fault? Anytime a scientist(or anyone for that matter) is so confident that they are right with so little data I get worried and ask questions…shouldn’t we all?

Posted by: J Sabinas | November 30, 2009, 11:51 pm 11:51 pm

I agree with Lord Christopher Monktin of the UK who very accuratley described the recent revelations as a scandle large enough to charge all involved with “cirmes against humanity.”
Surely if a conspiracy was manufactured that resulted in more deaths caused by famine worldwide, then the just remedy would be to bring all those responsible to justice. Monktin continues; “A great portion of our corn crops that once were the primary source of food to third world nations were converted to bio fuel refineries in aims of reducing “global warming” gas emissions as a means for alternative fuels. In doing so, those responsible have willingly let people die of starvation to meet what is now being recognized as a global scam.”
The International Court at the Hauge needs to bring those responsible for perpetuating this crime against humanity by everyone involved in this global warming hoax. The world is spinning out of control, and at the apex of such chaos, one always tends to find politicians and their corporate donor allies as the culprits! Investigate, Try, and Convict the criminals and all their cronnies who let this travesty manifest into this crime against humanity!

The “deniers” here are the AGW supporters who refuse to admit the obvious: Jones, Mann and the other scammers have rigged their “findings” to reach their preconceived conclusion. Those who continue to deny the obvious are no different from the “birthers” that they laugh at.
AGW birthers: you are being laughed at – why don’t you want real analysis of this issue. Is it possible you don’t really believe in the apocolytic eco-disaster that looms? Could it be you are as phony as Dr. Phil’s massaged “data”?
HIDE THE DECLINE is their rally cry.

Professor Easterbrook. You may be a long-suffering, misunderstood scientist devoted to proving your point and having your day in the sun, but you are very alone among a vast number of scientists who have come to another conclusion. As a layperson, I am quite unwilling to gamble the future of my kids and grandkids on your lonely viewpoint. Besides, us laypeople have eyes, can read scientific abstracts, see before-and-after pictures of disappearing glaciers, know that going from 1 billion to 7 billion humans and from 0 to 30 million commercial airplane flights a year in a 100 years have an effect on nature…and so on, ad infinitum. It must feel nice to finally get some print and video-time…but this non-scientist doen’t like the way a few alleged misdeeds are used by you and your ilk to tar and feather a whole scientific discipline…we’ve seen this approach in the past, for example, in the dishonest and deadly-to-many campaign to preserve tobacco industry profits.

First off as a person educated in science, I know global warming is real. You don’t need an education to realize that certain gases in the atmosphere trap heat. Think about the temperature difference of a cloudy night and a clear night. And, do you know that CO2 in the atmosphere raises the acidity of sea water and it will reach levels that will kill off fish and other sea life.
And, if you want to deny all that.
THE SIMPLE FACT IS WE ARE POLLUTING OUR ATMOSPHERE, that we and living things need and breath.
Moreover, CRUDE OIL, NO MATTER WHAT WILL RUN OUT. AND THE MORE OF THIS OIL WE FIND AND USE; THE MORE POLLUTED OUR ATMOSPHERE, BREATHABLE AIR WILL BE. Goto Los Angels,CA and see for yourself.
We have the solutions for the near future. Big oil is stopping that.
And, if I could afford to continue my education and research on a PhD. in Physics, I know how to make fusion power affordable and easily, in a way astrophysicist have disovered but don’t know how to exploit the technology. As a former Nuclear Engineer and a student in post-bachelor degree physics classes, I have discovered a way to create fusion reators that use hydrogen from water in a power plant smaller and safer than current nuclear fission plants.
And, in the mean time The US government has known since the 1950′s how to make better fast reactors that burn up long lived radioactive materials. And, Russia, the former Soviet Union, has been using fast reactors and I believe they discovered the fusion reaction at Chernobol, and that caused the energy spike that destroyed the plant. AND, I can prove all this with current published papers and the proper physics. But, you and our government don’t care to promote the education of those few that love to study physics that most others don’t even want to think about.
There is a better, more wonderful future and we will eventually get there. I say that we don’t wait that get started today. Cheaper pollution free energy now, practically infinite and nearly free.
We, the US, could be the exporter of energy to the entire world and help promote human rights and liberties with this abundant energy and help lead the world into a new energy, technology age with proper human rights, liberty, justice for all the people of the world, peacefully!!!
And, I served my country, though I was never interested in the military, I did my part. I am a veteran and served in times of war and understand and appreciate my freedoms and the desire for human rights and peace.

George is trying to reinvent himself as a newsman but here he is blatantly politicizing the issue.
This is not a (R) vs (D) fight. He is trying to distract you from the real issue. That issue is that human caused global warming is a fraud and the so-called scientists at the CRU admit that it is fraud. In their own words they faked results, deleted data that did not support their predetermined conclusion and manipulated the peer review process to prevent anyone from questioning their questionable results.
This is a case of fraud, most of the so-called research was paid for with taxpayer money, and these people need to be prosecuted. R or D, it does not matter.
George thinks you are all stupid and will line up behind the partisan window.
If you support AGW you should be as outraged or even more so than the skeptics.

Of course, there’s a huge scandal here. For humans who are really interested in this subject: read James Hoggan and Richard Littlemore’s new book “Climate Cover-up” or Ross Gelbspan’s book “The Heat Is On”. The fossil fuel industries have long hired “experts” to lie, cheat and manipulate on their behalf. The revelations in these books are 100 times worse than anything contained in the hacked emails.

I am not convinced there is a partisan divide. When scientist cook the books to make their case, I do not think the implications of doing so are lost on most democrats, independents, or republicans. It is a shame that pencil whipping is required to sustantiate ones case on climate change. No, the baby is ugly on this one and it knows no party. I must go now. It is a near record 13 degrees here in Salt Lake City and I am catching a flight to Georgia. Maybe that 15 should be officially recorded as 50 degrees, eh? It will sell more of Gore’s books.
