GOP Leaders: ‘Political Rebellion Going on in America’
ABC News’ Rick Klein and Z. Byron Wolf report: The top Republicans in the House and Senate took something of a victory lap today, jumping on the results from yesterday’s elections in Virginia and New Jersey to predict GOP gains in the 2010 congressional contests.
In a joint interview with ABC News, House Minority Leader John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said they were thrilled to see independent voters supporting Republican candidates in both of the day’s big contests.
Boehner, R-Ohio, said the wave of anger at President Obama and Democrats in Congress is only growing as 2010 approaches
“There’s a political rebellion going on in America, and what we saw last night was just a glimpse of it,” Boehner said.
Asked if that means Republicans will win back the House, he responded: “I think we’re looking for a very good year.”
McConnell, R-Ky., said the election results will make it more difficult for the president to convince Democrats to support a sweeping health care bill.
“You’ve got a lot of newly elected Democrats — as they had two good years in a row — who are hanging on by their fingernails, and being pushed by the speaker and the majority leader to support legislation that they now know for sure their constituents don’t approve of,” McConnell said.
“I don’t know whether they’re going to find the votes or not,” Boehner said. “But I can tell you they don’t have the votes.”
Boehner rejected the notion that the race in New York’s 23rd congressional election suggests that the GOP should be concerned about its divisions, pointing out that GOP primaries will sort out virtually all such scenarios next year.
Both he and McConnell, though, endorsed a “big tent” approach to growing the party’s numbers in Congress.
McConnell offered strong support for Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, the one Republican who has voted in favor of Democrats’ health care proposals to date. Yesterday, Gov. Tim Pawlenty, R-Minn., said Snowe “can’t say she’s a Republican and then vote against the Republican position much of the time.”
Said McConnell: “Olympia Snowe is a member of our conference in good standing. Maine is a very, very left of center state. We’re extremely grateful to have her in our conference, and we have a ‘big tent’ party here in the Senate.”
Added Boehner: “We want Republicans of every stripe.”
Both men said they were happy to have an Election Day where Republicans made up some ground.”
“Been a while,” McConnell said. “The return of the independents is extremely important. And if they’re there a year from now, we’ll have another very good election.”
Said Boehner: “Clearly it’s been a difficult year. For us it’s been like standing in front of a machine gun — liberal ideas every single week, one after another. It think it really has the American people concerned. They’re scared to death, actually.”

Soooooo, House republicans are claiming a victory after LOSING two seats to democrats, maybe with a few moire “victories” like these, the entire House will be democrat.

What about the only election with federal implications, the house seat in New York? Hoffman, the national GOP’s glory boy was whipped good in a conservative district. I think the governors races were a reflection of local issues, particularly the corruption in Jersey. People have not forgotton the damage done by the GOP on the national level.

I think the right wing of the Republican party and the left wing of the Democratic Party are all nuts. I think they are both going to self destruct. We need to get the crazies out of Washington and get someone in there that will put our nation first and not their stupid party politics.

Of course, Republicans are capable of believing anything they want. They believe we aren’t losing the two wars they started. Of course, the families of our dead soldiers are aware of the painful truth.

A woman is brutally gang raped and beaten. She is imprisoned in a cargo container, denied food and water until she agrees not to press charges against her assailants.
No.
This was not an atrocity committed by the Taliban. It was committed in Iraq by the employees of Kellogg, Root, and Brown, a subsidiary of Halliburton/
Senator elect, Al Franken introduced an amendment protect female employees of defense contractors from this sort of brutal gang-rape . The US Chamber of Commerce opposed the Franken Amendment, and every male Republican Senator voted against it.
Although the victim of this savage attack will finally get her day in court. She will never be able to obtain health insurance because almost all health insurance companies would consider rape and the trauma that occurred a “pre-existing” condition.
This is only one example of the discrimination that women endure from the current health care system. pay as much as 48% more in health insurance costs than men, if they can get it If women were subjected to domestic violence. If they have had a C-section, they may be pressured by their insurance carriers to sterilize themselves to avoid further health care costs.
And these are abuses the GOP wants to perpetuate. According to the latest report published by the Harvard University Medical School, our dysfunctional health care system kills more Americans than we lost on 9/11. In terms of killing American and abusing women, the GOP is a on the same page as the Taliban.
The GOP can crow about their victory all they want, but the real losers are the American people.

Anyone can call the results of these elections whatever they want. What your opinion is depends on what side of the isle you’re on so I don’t care what you say anymore than you care what I say. What can’t be argued is BO and Biden spent a lot of time and money in NJ and Virginia. Corzine(sp?) had 10M to spend. They lost! People don’t want to listen to garbage and right now the Demorcrats are driving the proverbial garbage truck. Yes, keep your hands out of my wallet and keep the government out of health care.

“All life is interrelated. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality: tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. As long as there is poverty in this world, no man can be totally rich even if he has a billion dollars. As long as diseases are rampant and millions of people cannot expect to live more than twenty or thirty years, no many can be totally healthy, even if he just got a clean bill of health from the finest clinic in America. Strangely enough, I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. You can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be. This is the way the world is made..”
These are the words of Martin Luther King over 40 years ago. Notice that Martin Luther King emphasized the need for universal health care. I might point out that Strom Thurmond, the de-facto founder of the modern Republican party, hated Martin Luther King and labeled him a Communist. The same sort of rhetoric resounds in the Republican party and is the stuff of the “revolution” the Republicans are touting
I can’t help wondering where Mitch McConnell and John Boehner would be if they lived 40 years ago. Would they be the same hateful mobs that King constantly confronted? You can change the era, but the same old hatred remains the same. Somehow a large section of our populace cannot survive unless they have some one or something to hate.
To respond to this observation, I will quote from Dr. Martin Luther King,
“A true revolution of values will soon look uneasily on the glaring contrast of poverty and wealth. With righteous indignation, it will look at thousands of working people displaced from their jobs with reduced incomes as a result of automation while the profits of employers remain intact, and say “This is not just.” It will look across the oceans and see individual capitalist of the West investing huge sums of money in Asia, Africa, and South America, only to take the profits out with no concern for the social betterment of these countries and say,”This is not just.”
… A true revolution of values will lay hands on the world order and say of war,”This way of settling differences is not just.” America, the richest and most powerful nation in the word, can well lead the way in this revolution of values. .. There is nothing but a lack of social vision to prevent us from paying an adequate wage to every American citizen whether he be a hospital worker. laundry worker, maid, or day laborer. There is nothing except short- sightedness to prevent us from guaranteeing an annual minimum – and liveable – income to every American family. There is nothing, except a tragic death wish, to prevent us from reordering our priorities, so that the pursuit of peace will take precedence over the pursuit of war. There is nothing to keep us from remodeling a recalcitrant status quo with bruised hands until we have fashioned it into brotherhood.”
The current GOP bragging is a world away from the words of Martin Luther King. In spite of their rhetoric they remain a bunch of Greedy Old Prostitutes

The margins of victory are not big enough to call it a referendum on anything. Basically the complacent Obama voters didn’t show up at the polls. Strutting this as a big victory can backfire on them since not too many people care for grandstanding. They really need to treat this as an indication that the party has not suffered a knockout in 2008.

Let’s examine the record of GOP minority leader Senator Mitch McConnell who hates Obama with a purple passion.
When I logged onto Center for Responsive Politics, I discovered that Senator Mitch McConnell gets $ 2 million in political campaign contributions from the health sector. He gets $ 1 million from lobbyists. His top political donor is Kindred Health Care. Among the other top 20 campaign donors are Humana Inc, Blue Cross, and GalaxoSmithKline. I might add that Humana practices something that Cheryl Tidwell, a Humana executive calls “controlling utilization.” (Source David Sirota, from an article on the Huffington Post, August 28.)
Does any one in Kentucky know that when they buy Blue Cross, they are giving Mitch McConnell a campaign contribution? Do they know that Mitch McConnel gets money from a company that uses a dreaded death panel to determine which policy holder lives and dies?
John Boehner gets generous campaign contributions from the insurance industry, which occupies 2nd place among Boehner’s top 5 campaign contributors. He gets additional contributions from pharmaceuticals, health professionals, and lobbyists. His top individual campaign contributors include Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Abbot Laboratories, Merck & Company, and, like Pense, Reynolds American, whose tobacco products are one of the reasons our health care is so high.
Of course Mitch McConnell and John Boehner are making all sorts of pompous statements celebrating their victory. But as they are bragging, Americans are dying because of inadequate Medical care. In fact according to a report published by the Harvard University Medical School, 44,000 Americans each year die because of inadequate medical care. And the House Republican idea of medical reform which permits health insurance companies to reject anyone with pre-existing conditions or any one who does not meet a “health standard” is just a fancy name for a death squad.
Yes, the GOP won two states — which they will tout as a victory. But the real losers are the American people.

The election did not look good for Democrats, but nothing terrible either. Certainly not a Republican revolution, although clearly Obama has lost some of his political pull. 2010 is the big decision year, and if nothing gets done on health care the Democrats will likely get punished for it via poor turnout (see 1994).

According to a report by Save the Children, published in the Telegraph.co.uk, 250,000 children will die this year because of the effects of global warming. The GOP does not give a rat about these children. In fact, they don’t even know that global warming exists.
Yes, the Republicans won a great victory. But thousands of children will lose their lives because of this victory.

I remember the Republican convention of 2004. The Republicans affixed a cross of Jesus on to the speakers’ platform. They believe we are a Christian country.
According to the Gospel, Jesus healed the sick. He never asked about pre-existing conditions. Wall Street, which funds the GOP, steals from the sick. Jesus told the rich man to sell all he had and give to the poor. The GOP believes in stealing from the poor, the sick, and the old and giving to the rich.
Yes, the GOP can brag about their victory, but for real they are the party of greed – NOT the party of Christ.

Yes, We the People are rebelling against The Messiah, his Czars and the rest of his Marxist administration. We’ve had it and aren’t going to take it any longer. Barry has grown the government and its programs to an unbelievable level and has plans to grow it even more and bankrupt us in the process. He’s living the life of a rock star, on the backs of the taxpayers, taking our money and giving it away while we lose jobs and our homes. This needs to stop NOW! Queen Pelosi needs to go along with King Harry and Barry and all the other bottom feeders that are bankrupting us for generations to come. They should be afraid because their time is about up. I hope we can hold on that long and still have a country left.

Boehner has been inhaling the mystic tan fumes for too long. This only illustrates the level of desperation the GOP is feeling. They are spin, spin, spin, spin. Only some of us aren’t getting dizzy. There is a majority of people in this country who believe that we were worse off with GOP rule. Those numbers have not changed. You lost seats in congress. Wake up.

“Basically the complacent Obama voters didn’t show up at the polls. ” That’s one way to look at it. Another way, and one I hear a lot, is that the Obama voters woke up and voted against his party and agenda. Many Obama voters have severe voters’ remorse after seeing their hero in action destroying this nation.

It does not matter who won yesterday, nor does it matter what it represents. BUT, I will tell you this. IF something in this Economy does not change by next year this time… there will be a new Congress and the Majority of which will be republicans. Our economy is still down and showing NO sigh of going up. Unemployment is still high as crap and shows no significant change. Houses are not selling and the ones that are, are selling at a 60% of the value they were at. Blow it off Democrats, if you want, but you know yourself.. that is way Americans vote. If the economy is still tanking next year.. Dems will be kicked.

Elisabeth Kubler-Ross famously described the five stages of grief. Many supporters of Barack Obama, like myself, are going through a similar process to justify voting for a Republican in yesterday’s election.
The last thing this liberal member of the media elite — as perceived by many of our readers — ever expected to do was vote for a Republican like Chris Christie for governor and reject incumbent Jon Corzine (pictured). But in my home state of New Jersey, the Democrats are more often part of the problem rather than the solution. My disgust with the party of my registration is a long time coming.
Why should Republicans be the only ones to dislike high taxes, corruption and fiscal mismanagement?
Taxes in New Jersey are unbelievable: My monthly tax bill is equivalent to half my mortgage payment. New Jersey’s state/local tax burden of 11.8% of income is the highest in the country, well above the national average of 9.7%, according to the Tax Foundation, which says the state’s business-tax climate ranks 50th, that is, dead last in the nation. The Star Ledger of Newark reports that the average property tax bill is now $7,045, which eats up about 10 percent of the annual income in the average New Jersey household. The state budget is projected to be $8 billion short for the next fiscal year.
Corruption is horrendous. Dozens of people were recently arrested in one of the biggest scandals in years. In July, former State Sen. Wayne Bryant, once one of the most powerful people in Trenton, was sentenced to four years in federal prison for trading his clout as budget chairman for a job at a state medical school that required little work to boost his taxpayer-funded pension.
Former State Sen. Joseph Coniglio reports to prison Nov. 9 to serve a 30-month sentence on federal corruption charges. The mayors of Secaucus and Hoboken resigned after being caught up in corruption scandals. Former Gov. Jim McGreevey grabbed worldwide headlines for his admission that he had an affair with a man. His lover — who claims McGreevey sexually harassed him — was given a job overseeing homeland security in the state, something he wasn’t remotely qualified to do.
Attack Ads and a Fizzled “Comeback”
Corzine came to office in the wake of the McGreevey scandal, promising to restore fiscal discipline to Trenton. Though he was caught in a mess left by other governors, the former Goldman Sachs (GS) chairman and co-CEO always seemed aloof and oddly detached whenever he tried to connect with the state’s citizens. He was no stranger to backroom deals with political bosses to get things done.
And his campaign ran some of the nastiest political commercials in the state’s history including one attacking Christie — who weighs about 300 pounds — for being too fat.
For a little while, the tactic worked. Corzine even pulled ahead of Christie in some late polls after trailing badly at the campaign’s outset. Just last week, I dubbed the former banker the “comeback kid.” That nickname was premature. For a second, I forgot that Barack Obama wasn’t on the ballot in this election. The same applies to Virginia, where Republican Bob McDonnell defeated Democrat Creigh Deeds, by many accounts a terrible candidate.
This election, though, should be a warning to the Democrats to take no one for granted, not even someone like me — who knocked on doors for their candidate during the presidential election.

There was reason to be scared to death when Bush was in office. Ever since Obama got in a strong majority of Americans are breathing a sigh of relief. Intelligence and competence back in the White House. We’re only

My whole house stay home yesterday and didn’t vote , And we all voted for President Obama ,
My brother is uposet we still at war , he voted for Obama thinking the troops would be home in a month or 2 and was shock when obama approve 90+ billion for more war , I on the other hand wanted Universal single payer healthcare like they have in canada and france but was let down by Obama saying that wouldn’t work here , How does he know that! ,
Anyhow i was ready to settle for a robust public option , now that seems to be DILUTED to the point of being a joke , Seems like the insurance companies won again by being in the pockets of these politicans .And the SAD part is .. the DEMS control congress, i could understand if the Republicans had numbers to block things , but the Democrats are spinless and we give them a mandate, and then have to put up with bluedogs/sellouts.
Obama is the one that signs the bills , he needed to tell the bluedogs you better fall in line or you will be strip and the DNC will hold off campaign money’ and you will be challenge by a real democrat.
because why have them in the party when they are failling on ISSUES that matter the MOST.
So i wasn’t surprise that many dems stay at home and that includes blacks and latinos.
unless i see some CHANGE in Washington i will not waste my time in going to VOTE for anyone .if the republicans win thats fine i don’t expect anything from them . Right now it feels like Bush NEVER LEFT OFFICE…. NOTHING SIGNIFICANT is getting done.

Wow! They’re just figuring that out. They have been thrown out of office almost as fast as the election process will allow. A for Virginia that’s the result of the loss of the 35 billion dollar Air Force Tanker contract. New Jersey is upset about high property taxes. Can’t blame them there. Uncertain about how putting a republican in will help them. Now their jobs will be turned into dung. I guess he’ll remind them about how thankful and privileged they should feel.

Off-year elections and especially odd-year (non-Congressional) elections are almost ALWAYS more about local and state issues than about even public perception of the current federal administration. There is no coat-tailing effect in odd year elections. Where Republicans have won this year, they have traditionally (or at least in recent tradition) had strong appeal, and they may be more attuned to critical local issues and attitudes.
The Congressional elections next year will be of much greater import. If the GOP makes significant inroads then, it may well portend difficult campaigns in ’12 and beyond – even as ’94 and the Contract On America did. In any case, Democrats really need to define themselves as substantially DIFFERENT than Republicans before next year: if given the choice between real foot-dragging Republicans and ersatz foot-dragging Democrats, voters will choose the real thing!

Republicans passed policies during the past eight years that helped corporations and the bigshots get away with just about anything. The GOP did away with older policies that kept these banks and industries on the up and up. Regardless of what republicans say, they have lied repeatedly much more often than they have told the truth. They are for corporations and the extremely wealthy, not average and middle class people. The GOP knows that all they have to do is act like they care about the problems in America. The truth is that they were in control for eight years and didn’t do one single thing for our country. Not one thing. They have spent money like drunken sailors and now they act concerned. It is not true. That know they caused these problems. They know that they have so many people that are simple minded and believe their lies.

They are bound and determined to turn this recession into a depression and will not stop until they do it, until they just completely kill this country for good. This time last year we had 600,000 LAYOFFS PER MONTH!!! Now we had 12,000 last month, and you’er complaining about that??? You want 600,000 a month again?? by all means, put republicans back in. And to remedy that, you’re going to go for MORE republican economic theory??? what the past 8 years did isn’t bad enough for you???? My personal opinion is we need to get rid of both extremes. All the American public does when they vote out one extreme in exchange for another is flip the record over. Lets not forget that the flip side of the record is still the same record. While it may not be quite as exciting to watch the drama of the two extremes clashing, it certainly would be a more stable environment for Americans to live in. If you need that kind of excitement, get hooked on Reality TV.

These Republicans are MORONS. The economy is _clearly_ starting to turn around, after we were pushed to the brink of destruction by Bush and the Republican Congress. The GOP must think Americans don’t have long term memory. After we have good Christmas season sales, declining unemployment rate by spring, and a stock market back to 2002 levels, the Republicans will have absolutely nothing left to stand on. Time will prove Obama correct. The right wing extremists should have their fun little tea parties now, because America is not going to fail as they wish it would.

There was a congressional and mayoral elections that went to Democrats. What about them? And elections for Governor often reflect State, not national issues.

With over 10% unemployment —caused by republican leadership. There were over 600,000 layoffs last year, this time, during bush’s term, from the top 500 companies in the US. got that? Over 600,000 laid off PER MONTH according to forbes magazein. Last month, there were 12,000. Tell me, you want 600,000 layoffs per month again??? elect more republicans. complaining about unemployment when you elect republicans is like crying to the doctor about the pain from your heart surgery while you eat big macs every day of your life for the past ten years. own up to your share of the responsibility in the demise of our economy by the failure of republican economic policies. All those trillions in tax cuts for the rich to ‘create jobs”. How’d that go???? too bad all those ‘jobs’ were in overseas companies, huh? idiots.

You sound like a true right wing wacko. So tell me Bo, are you voluntarily ripping up your social security checks, and refusing any type of Medicare assistance? I mean, why in the world would you want to participate in such ‘socialist’ programs?
In fact, when are ALL Republicans going to voluntarily return their social security checks to the government? When is that movement against “socialism” going to start? Never?? Thought so!

. IF something in this Economy does not change by next year this time… there will be a new Congress and the Majority of which will be republicans. Our economy is still down and showing NO sigh of going up. Unemployment is still high as crap and shows no significant change.—-I think a BIG Problem with the democrats is their inability to get the truth out. Who could say’ there is ‘no significant change’ in unemployment when this time last year we had over 600,000 lay offs per month and this past month we had 12,000. A ten fold reductions in lay offs is not a ‘change’ enough for you? How would you like to have 600,000 per month again? How about a 40% unemployment rate, instead of 10? Republicans want to slash teh budget, slash spending. gee, hmmm, who did that when he had 10% unemployment after a stock market crash…oh yeah HEBERT HOOVER!!!!!! Why democrats have a problem just simply reminding voters that (1) the republican theory of economic GOT us here, and had we not have obama we would NOT have slowed down at 10% unemployment, we’d be at 30% unemployment and still full steam ahead and climbing. Just elect some more republicans and see.

This is quite laughable.Republicans are so desperate for attention right now, they will say just about anything to make the American public fear the same government that lines their pockets with millons of dollars every year. The GOP in short are nothng but a group of fear-mongers.They thrive on control, through misinformation and secretcy.President Obama has been in office for 10 months.Americans know it’s going to take longer than that to fix the catastrophic 8 years G.W Bush held this country captive.Remember GOP,”if it sounds too good to be true,it usually is.”

Democrats seemed to be expressing relief
based on exit polls in Virginia and New Jersey indicating that while voters responded that they were content with the methods employed by the Obama Administration in running the country but were angered by the continuous recession. I would bring you back to the 2008 primaries when exit polls showed widespread duplicity in voters certifying that they actually voted for Obama when subsequent data showed that in fact they had not. Exit polls are very often skewed as national polls are as well. In Obama’s case, voters do not want to be involved in a controversy where they are seen as being anti-Obama anything. Besides all of these revelations are sort of like an oxymoron. If voters are angered about this awful economic downturn they must have necessarily thought about the Obama decisions at some point. Not admitting the tie in to Obama is par for the course.

Republican will pick up more seats than people realize next year because “Independents” realize the government is best when there are checks and balances. They gave Obama the benefit of the doubt because he lied to everyone with his talk about “Bipartisanship”. We the Independents of this country don’t want a far left or a far right country. The only way to get it back towards the middle is to vote out Democrats or else plan on being servants of the government.

It will most likely come back under a different name as the “Republican” party has been overcome by extremists that are more Republican than American. Don’t get too excited about the election in some small districts that had problems on both sides. America is not going to allow the extremists on any side destroy this country. The present day Republican Party took it too far and it will pay for it’s arrogance for several decades. The balance that kept the extremists out of both parties over America’s more prosperous years is what I hope to see again. A balance between both the Liberals and conservatives that creates that needed checks and balances to prevent abuse and destruction of any part of American. The middle class is what makes the country great, not the Corporations, not the military, not the elites, not the rich, not the poor, not the extremists of any kind. This is political Rebellion God’s way.
If we lifted up God’s word, the people would be caring for their families, the elderly, widows, fatherless and the poor among them. All religions are told to do those things. We would not need taxes and programs. When we ignore and degrade God’s word we are blinded to the power to overcome our big government system and other world problems.
Even before the 2010 elections, if the people want God’s solutions and His wisdom to govern this nation as IT IS WRITTEN and not as religions have transformed it, they will bring in the Kingdom of God, a nation run according to God’s word. If they do not want it, we will see much more misery and destruction, UNTIL we understand God rules, by choice or by judgment. Leviticus 26.
Most of the word of God is secular wisdom on how to live on this planet without destroying ourselves, others and the planet. The religion part is giving Him thanks. He is the God of the whole earth and He has cross-referenced His prophets to bring in unity according to IT IS WRITTEN. He has extra proofs to come forward when we choose His wisdom. He will continue to lead us.

Another thing about the Democrat and Republican politicians is that if there is a viable third party forming they’ll work together to suppress it. The two parties work together to serve corporate interests above democratic interests. Why have they both allowed American knowledge and engineering to be sold off to foreign corporate interests?

Hundreds of mostly Guatemalan families formed a line that circled the entire complex. I’m not going to ask if anyone was checking green cards, what I am going to ask is why these shots are being distributed in such a hap-hazard way with no effort to immunize those who are at greatest risk first! They win two governorships that goes always goes to the party opposite of the President’s Party and they call it a “sweeping victory.” I hope they have more sweeping victories and go from a party of 20% to a party of 10%.

Democrats didn’t win New York’s 23 district. Republicans lost it. Bill Owens got 49 % of the votes. Republicans and Conservatives split 51%.
That’s a wake up call for Republicans who will bring their party back together by next year. The only question is will it be a wake up call for Democrats? Will they start listening to their constituents or will they lose their jobs? They have one year to decide.

House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio has a sex offender in Cleveland Ohio that has gotten away with the murder of 11 or more women. Why has this senator allowed this to happen in the state of Ohio? It just shows what this senator thinks of women in his state, and the Republican party thinks of women as a whole. Pathetic leadership from the right. This wasn’t a win when low turnout provided these wins in these 2 states. Now these Republicans must produce jobs, money, and do everything they promised on the campaign in one year, less than one year. Let’s see what they will and won’t do. Virginia is a heavily government run state and home of the Confederates in Richmond, Virginia, with huge military presence in Norfolk area and northern Virginia. So, let’s see if they can produce enough private sector jobs to make up the difference without any help from the government. Intel is on the chopping block and telecommunications are falling in job numbers. Where is the beef coming from? Let’s see what they can do in actually less than one year. Also in New Jersey, let’s see what they can do for its people in less than a year. Words are one thing and actions are another. One is cheap and one is valuable — which one Republicans. May the Republican conservative party stop touted its Christianity when the actions prove otherwise. Jesus didn’t cleanse people for political purposes but for the Kingdom of God. Maybe the Conservative Republicans have a grandiose delusion of their purposes.

I like the way all these democrats have all their facts neatly lined up like little duckies about the GOP,but what they fail to mention is the eight yrs of silly willy in the white house before Bush, either they don’t remmeber or they play the stupid game. willy cut all sorts of funds that were going to the CIA,and other agencies that were tracking Osama, and saddam and other terroist groups, which led to 9/11 and as far as WMD,in Iraq, what do you call it when you see on the news towns with bodies littered the streets, mothers holding thier babies still in their arms

The people of Virginia and New Jersey have short timers disease. They have chosen to forget that the Republicans are who got them into the situation they are currently in. From the Great Depression, Republicans had a 10 year run on the country and produce the worst economic disaster until the most recent Great Recession, again produced from an 8 year run of the Republican party. Wow! Is there a pill for short timers disease to help these poor memories of these Republicans? And the Democrats who didn’t do their civic duty in going to vote are just are bad in neglecting their responsibilities. Shame on the Republicans for keeping Americans in oppression and shame on the Democrats for allowing the Republicans to do so. Thank God for having sense to not live in Virginia or New Jersey!!!

Goodness ChicagoBob, –the nonsensical brand called “illogical conserative republicans of the polarizing far right” opposite of the polarizing far left crowd?

Actually, this was a win for the Democrats in that Virginia and New Jersey are like bad inventory that won’t sell in major retail, therefore, get rid of the bad merchandise before it causes deficits to the business. Actually great move on the Democrats part. These two governors now have to produce numbers and dollars in less than one year. From a business point of view, impossible to pull off. Nice work Democrats!

Both parties are chock full of thieves and liars out to fill their own pockets. It’s best to vote all incumbents out and not let either party get comfortable. The longer any party has control the more they try to take advantage of the working people that support this nation with their sweat & blood.

What about the only election with federal implications, the house seat in New York? Hoffman, the national GOP’s glory boy was whipped good in a conservative district. I think the governors races were a reflection of local issues, particularly the corruption in Jersey. People have not forgotton the damage done by the GOP on the national level.

According to the exit polls, the main issue on the minds of MOST of the voters was the economy… which is a NATIONAL issue, not a local one.
You need to be reminded that YOUR party has controlled both the Congress and the White House for the past year and the economy has gotten WORSE. I’m afraid you guys have nobody to blame but yourselves for this so-called “damage” you’re talking about.
And yes, this election DOES have federal implications going into the Republican’s favor. The Democrats now know that if they vote for this health care bill, they are likely to lose their Congressional seat. Reid has already said he was going to have to postpone the vote on health care.

Republicans had very little to do with the victories handed out by voters in this election.
More so, this election was about people who are fed up with politics as usual. People are losing “hope” and faith that things will ever “change.” (Republicans just happen to be “the other choice” right now.)
The GOP needs to listen to its base, and favor candidates that cut spending, and return to the basics of the constitution.
Democrats haven’t figured out that things have changed. It’s not health care, or “cap and trade”, or even education. “It’s the economy, stupid” and it’s about JOBS.
President Obama has had nine months to blame President Bush, and that is fair.
But, after nine months, it is time for this baby to be born.
Blaming President Bush is no longer working.
This election proved that.

America is coming back. I can feel it in the air. We were asleep for a little bit and allowed traitors to grab the reigns of power. However, that is about to change. Liberals are being kicked back to the curb as they always are when Americas slips up and allows them any power. I love this country.

There will not be a improvement in our economy until the liberals are voted out of power. Liberals coming to power was the very reason that the reccession hit. Companies and foreign investment saw the writing on the wall and pulled their money out of the economy. If America will elect a republican congress next year, we will see the economy take off almost immediately. Guaranteed.

The Methodist Hospital System currently has over $1 billion in expansion and construction projects in the Houston area. More than one million square feet of new facilities are under construction in the Texas Medical Center, and two of three community hospitals are making major expansions. A fifth health care facility in west Houston is currently being planned.

There is one industry that is booming in my city of Houston Texas. The following are excerpts from websites and news releases.
“The Methodist Hospital System currently has over $1 billion in expansion and construction projects in the Houston area. More than one million square feet of new facilities are under construction in the Texas Medical Center, and two of three community hospitals are making major expansions. A fifth health care facility in west Houston is currently being planned.” ( This is from the Methodist Hospital website )
“Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital is set to break ground on a $104 million project that will add 240,000 square feet to its campus at Interstate 45 and Research Forest Drive.
This is the third major expansion project undertaken by Memorial Hermann The Woodlands in the past decade. In 2003 the hospital completed a six-story patient tower, and a third medical office building was opened on campus in 2005. The hospital also recently opened a new community 24-Hour Emergency Services clinic on Woodlands Parkway.”
“With the $1.5 billion Vision 2010 expansion plan, Texas Children’s Hospital is bringing groundbreaking concepts in research and patient care closer to a reality.” ( This is from the Texas Children’s Hosp. website.)
There are more. It’s a long list. I wonder where the funds are coming from for these hospital expansions. Could it be from some of the obscene profits made by these corporate giants. The above mentioned hospital facilities mark up some procedures over 3000 percent over actual cost. Yes, that’s THREE THOUSAND PERCENT. Their cost’s and markup’s are listed on AHD along with all their other financial data.
So keep on McConnell and Boehner. Keep on pulling the wool over your constituent’s eyes. Many who don’t know the real facts or where to find them will believe you, and your right wing lunatic conservative buddies will make a few more inroads for a few victories for the ones who believe in your bs. But it will really be a terrible loss for the American people, especially the American people who find they can no longer afford to pay to keep the corporate giants expanding and their CEO’s driving Rolls Royce’s. So your win’s by your conservative Governors wasn’t a win at all.

Unbelievable how soon we forget…What makes people think Pres. Bush brought us into war? I do not recall him sending in terrorists to kill innocent people (3,000 plus) who were sitting at their desks doing their normal daily routine or the police and firemen who tried to save them. We have done everything in our power to keep the world a safe place for our children to grow up in, to be able to go to school and play. Adults are able or were able to sit and speak freely about whatever they choose. As I recall Sept 11 was not planned by and executed by Pres. Bush, but the retaliation was and not just by the President. The vast majority of the U.S. stood behind him or have we forgotten that. If Obama has his way, no one will be able to do anything without permission from the government.

John Boehner, what have you done for your CONSTITUENTS in Ohio? Did you vote for min wage increase? NOPE. Did you vote to extend unemployment benefits? Nope. Did you even come up with a viable alternative to the Democratic Health care reform bill? Nope, but your bill sure supported the insurance carriers. So why do you turn your back on Ohioans?-Is it because your real leader Rush won’t allow you? Your the House Minority leader is all you can say is NO?

The career politicians can spin this however they feel they need. I live in upstate NY and I can tell you that what was voted for was change in the 23rd. All the disenfranchised righties and lefties that visited to support their candidates had little influence in the election booths. The voters of the 23rd voted out the incumbent, period. You are not seeing citizens fall out of either party in droves, but what you are seeing a minor revolt in an off year election against a change they were not told of when they cast their votes in 2008. I cannot speak for any other district but I “feel” there is the same sort of discontent and distrust all over the Country. I believe that the legislators had better start listing to their constituents and not their party bosses and special interest lobbyists if they are even thinking of another term. It is true that Americans have short memories until you screw them out of even more of their wages to disburse these wages to anyone else. Up here in the “woods” (where the politicos only travel to influence their agendas) our standards of living and savings for a semi independent retirement are in the can. The only bailout we want is for the governments (all of them) to get out of our wallets and to live within their (our) means.

The political machine in this country in not aligned with the typical US Citizen. The politicians of today want power, money, and media stature. They rule dependent on Special Interest Groups and Lobbists and pay little attention to the citizens. The Media we have today is partly to blame because they are controlled by large corporations who influence is ingrained with the Special Interest Groups and Lobbists. Together thay have corrupted the US values this country was founded on. Even so much as degrading the younger populace by the trash that is thrown out via the internet and TV, in turn parents have to counter that influence – many do not. Basically it comes down to greed and money. Writing in thse blogs means little because as a typical citizen my voice will never be heard.

Bullwinkle. Well stated. My solutions are simple. Strict election finance laws and one term one time.

….Here is the thing that I have learned if it can be screwed up, the Republicans were there. Unfortunately they would do better in the movie Star Wars…because they are just lost in space, with the evil Darth Vader in charge of the Galactic Empire…..Congress as the Robotic Droids would do well to listen to the “Force” until Luke Skywalker shows up…..because the Galactic Empire does need saved.

If there is a “rebellion” it is due to the constant stream of lies and exagerations the GOP and the Republican News Network feed their under-informed and willfully ignorant constituency. What these people fail to understand is that their leaders are not concerned for them in the least. Their leaders support and are supported by the insurance industry. Huge amounts of money are being poured into the anti-healthcare campaign by that industry, who have a massive stake into whether it passes or not.

Eric —– Social security and medicare are TAKEN from people’s paycheck. So your little idea of giving checks back because it is a socialist program is ridiculous considering it is something we INVOLUNTARILY paid for. How about the government gicing me my past 35 years I paid into it? Oh, they used it for something else. That’s not socialism, it’s communism. I guarantee I could have invested the money to better MY retirement, which was the original intention of the system.

MaryR claims that the people are rebelling. No doubt that two governor races victories constitute a rebellion. I’m glad that Mary has learned to type while clutching her tea bag. This election didn’t mean anything. Oh I guess it does if all you listen to is Limbaugh or Beck but the majority of the population still supports Obama. It’s to bad that the health care reform bill is DOA but the Republicans have done what they do best and that is lying to the people in order to firghten them into voting against their best interest. When you tell senior citizens that if this passes they will lose their medical care of course they are going to be against it. In reading the posts I notice that many of those who are against any changes mention their wallet. It seems money is all they care about. If I could give an extra ten bucks a month and knew it would help someone less fortunate than myself I would not have a problem with that. The way these people go on you would thing that the government was going to hit them for 90 percent of what they earn. Such is not the case. But the Republican philosophy has always been take from the poor and give to the rich and they will never change. And they will never have enough….even if they get it all. Let’s just wait till 2010 before we pass judgement. If the American public forgets what the Bush years brought us then they deserve whatever they get.

Republicans have nothing to be proud of…just because they are less marxist than the socialist morons currently in power doesn’t mean they didn’t have a role in causing us to have to fight for our basic liberties as we are now doing. Repubs can be useful to put a brake on Obama’s foolish agenda but eventually we need to get rid of all of these bums.
