I’m in Stephen King’s New Book? Huh?
My friend Chris Cuomo sends along this little moment from his interview with author Stephen King on this morning’s Good Morning America, in which they play up what I’m told is a rather brief cameo appearance in King’s new novel Under the Dome.
I interviewed King two years ago for a Nightline piece tied to the release of The Mist. You can read the transcript of that interview HERE.
And here are some clips from that interview:
We chatted at one point about his frustrations with the media, especially regarding the build-up to the war in Iraq, though it wasn’t part of the interview. I wonder if that manifests itself somehow in my appearance in the book. Do I get killed? Anyone know?

Jake you’re a star!
The cameo is nice but your claim to fame is being a journalist that has integrity and is not afraid to ask the hard questions.
That’s pretty rare.

Here’s your first line: “This is Jake Tapper in TR-90, an unincorporated township just north of Chester’s Mill.”
Do you really want to know if you get killed?

Lucky! I’d love to have a cameo in a Stephen King novel.

Good author?
Maybe if you like reading the same plot through two dozen novels with only slight variation as to time, place, and booger men.
