Obama Decision on Copenhagen Summit Attendance “In the Coming Days”

ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports: President Obama will make a decision if he will attend the December Copenhagen climate change summit in “the coming days,” a senior administration official said today. “What the president has always said is that if it looks as though the negotiations have proceeded sufficiently that going to Copenhagen would give a final impetus, a push, to the process, then he would be willing to go,” the senior administration official, briefing reporters off camera said. “We're making the judgment as to whether it makes sense for him to go.” Once the decision is made, the White House is anticipating they will let that decision be known immediately. The White House says that in Copenhagen their delegation will propose an emissions reduction target, but stress that the number will be in align with proposed domestic climate change legislation being drafted at home. “The one thing the president has made clear is we want to take action consistent with the legislative process,” an administration official said. “[We] don’t want to get out ahead or be at odds with what can be produced through legislation. And so whatever number we put on the table will be with reference to what can come out of the legislative process.” The White House says they are in “close consultation” with the bipartisan team working on climate change in the Senate. While the White House insists that they are going into Copenhagen “with a good hand,” they openly admit that the domestic progress on climate change has been stalled by the health care debate. “We would have obviously preferred that health care be done a long time ago and that we’d be in an energy debate, but that isn’t what happened,” a senior administration official said. When 191 world leaders from the United Nations member states take part in the summit, which runs from December 7th to December 18th, they will be talking to reach a final, legally-binding agreement sometime next year. Yet, many only anticipate an accord that has an “immediate operation impact” coming out of the December summit. While in Singapore last week President Obama attended an unscheduled and last minute meeting on climate change – in which the Prime Minister of Denmark, Lars Loekke Rasmussen, the conference’s chairman, flew in to brief a small group of 129 APEC leaders about the status of the negotiations. During that meeting, Rasmussen laid out a “one agreement, two steps” proposal, realizing that there will not be an agreement coming out of Copenhagen and more negotiations would be necessary. The White House says Copenhagen will be an important step and “building block” towards a final agreement despite their anticipating not reaching a final agreement. A senior administration official says the accord expended out of Copenhagen will not be “a partial accord, not just a political declaration, not an agreement to seek an agreement, but an accord that immediate operational impact cross the array of issues being negotiated.” -Sunlen Miller

I am sure he will go on another vacation to get away from pesky liberal media types asking the occaisional un-fawning, sycophantic question that requires something more than The One radiating pandering benelovence to the unwashed masses.

I hope he tells the Troops what he is going to do before the Copenhagen Summit, things were much simpler when he was just a Community Organizer. He has to stand up and be accountable, after all he is the Commander in Chief,so far he has been AWOL.

Withdraw our troops mr obama.

Maybe in light of the hacked emails
of our scientists, showing what a scam
all of the global warming was, he is
thinking best to stay away….but then
again maybe not. Can he take a stand
on anything? Bowing to the Japanese….
no, he can’t stand straight up because he
has no spine

===What the president has always said is that if it looks as though the negotiations have proceeded sufficiently that going to Copenhagen would give a final impetus, a push, to the process, then he would be willing to go,” ===
I’ve heard that before. Maybe it was in the run up to whether or not he would make a personal bid for the Olympics in Chicago.

A hundred dollars (not worth much at this point) says Obama goes to Denmark to help rehab his image globally.
Any takers please respond.
This is more PR and photo op material for The One, nothing more.
Man made global warming has been exposed as a government hoax to steal more hard earned earnings from taxpaying citizens around the world.

Not sure how you missed it during the election campaign, but Obama promised to withdraw troops from Iraq and intensify the effort in Afghanistan – both of which he has done.

Didn’t Copenhagen get the message?
“The jig is up”
We are onto your lies and schemes to take our money for global redistribution.
If anyone really believed in the hoax that is Global Warming, there is no way you’d fire up a jet to go to Copenhagen to talk about it. You’d use video conferencing.
The NY Times won’t print the hacked emails exposing the global warming hoax but they did print Sarah Palin’s hacked emails and don’t forget The Pentagon Papers, which weren’t exactly obtained legally.
I guess it’s not as exciting (or politically correct) to debunk Algore as it was to smear the Bush adminstration. The New York Times, a private institution representing no one but itself, didn’t care how it got the information it published considered “vital government secrets” in the middle of a war. But, they draw the line at CERTAIN hacked emails.
Hmmm… sounds as if their moral indignation is fluid at best, extremely partisan at worst.

wow he can decide here but takes him months for Afghanistan. Hope Obama eats his Thanksgiving meal in peace. Todays killings in the war have put more families in turmoil and grief while this non leading president has fun partying and golfing. Obama pleas ask Reid and Polosi if you can do anything on your own for a change!!!

Global warming is not a hoax – at all.
However, the video conferencing suggestion is the correct one methinks. As much business as possible should be conducted by video conferencing.
p.s – saying ‘hacked emails’ does not mean global warming is a hoax.
You right wingers have got to get beyond your parroting talking points if you expect to be taken seriously.

Thanks for this post. It isn’t a hoax and the right wing’s parroted talking point ‘hacked emails’ is truly hollow.
A few right wing sources have jumped on this phrase – same nonsense as usual.
Of course the right winger bloggers would know better than the scientific community.

Yes it is a hoax. Period. It doesn’t matter how many Pembina carts you put the data in,if it is corrupted it is worthless. The East Anglia e-mails reveal conspiracy to block publication of views and scientific data contrary to the theories of the Global Warming community. The East Anglia CRU was a major contributor to the IPCC report; from a legal standpoint that data could be considered water from a poisoned well. The e-mails reveal real doubts about how to explain the obvious contradictory data without resorting to fraud.Since the University of East Anglia has admitted that the e-mails are genuine, there is no way to dismiss their significance. However, the mere fact that there has been NO warming trend (despite clear and unequivocal statements from the Global Warming crowd predicting the same) for the last ten years should start to lay this nonsense to rest.

Man cant this guy ever make a decision. Its like a soap opera on everything he does. How difficult is it to select one of your staff or in his case czar to attend the meeting. And TIERRA please get your facts correct because he has not intensified any troops in Afganistan as of yet and when he comes out with his plan to give up and let the taliban take over the country by providing an exit plan of the troops in Afganistan on the war he said we need to be in what are you going to say then.

There will be no Copenhagen Treaty. There will be no cap-and-trade legislation. The hoax has been outed, and the American people will not stand for such nonsense.
If that upsets you, you must try your very best to deal with it.

You need to read “The extremist handbook” by Saul Alenski who was a marxist mentor for Obama. One of the main steps into having a revolution is to use the enviroment as a tool to control the masses. Looks like the playbook is lining up the liberals just like sheep.

The decision on Copenhagen “attendance” is coming up! Nevermind, what to do when he gets there, just whether he will even show up. Mr. Dithers does Washington, writ LARGE. If it wasn’t for the White House staff this AH would sit on the edge of the bed for a half hour trying to figure out which socks to wear. Without the option of voting “present”, the only decisiveness this cipher ever shows relates to spending our money on vacations, golf, inane, costly world travel on AF1 and where to take the wookie for dinner. This bum is a disgrace. Maybe Conyers can save his “can” again by telling him whether to go or not! Six months ago, only patriotic Americans missed our “Cowboy” and Cheney, and Rice, and Rummy, couple of months ago, World leaders and thankfully, Jake Tapper, an early, prescient, pundit, started to long for our much maligned, decisive, “Cowboy”, and now even Conyers and the liberal media (Crissy the drooler, forchrissake) are beginning to realize that the “messiah” is a joke. A BAD joke. Indeed, a very BAD joke! At least the Obamatuer hour has answered a question that has plagued us since the invention of the automobile. “What happens if the dog actually catches the car?” The answer is that he gets run over!

Your attacks on Obama are pure hypocrisy – and garbage.

Read “rules for radicals” by Saul Alenski”. This is what being a community organizer is all about. Obama was, and is an Alenski “Radical”, One of the rules is to use the enviroment as a way to take over power from the middle class. Read up and learn what is really going on in this country before it is too late.

Mr. Obama knows nothing about science. Period. He never took a course in science in college; he knows nothing of the scientific method.I have had tenured physical scientists tell me that the East Anglia e-mails are more than unethical, they border on illegality. There are clear attempts to frustrate the United Kingdom’s Freedom of Information act by destroying contradictory data to prevent its release to scientists with viewpoints in opposition to Global Warming.I’m afraid that this goes over Mr. Obama’s head;that shouldn’t be suprising in view of the fact that he couldn’t remember meeting his brother in 1988,despite “writing” about it in his brilliant book “Dreams…”

Thousands of leaked emails from the CRU now document the entire sordid attempt to create a ficticious man-made climate emergency for financial and political purposes, and instead of calling for the prosecution of these con artists, Obama is goin to pretend it never happened. FACT: It was warmer 1000 years ago. It’s known as the medieval warming period.
FACT: Michael Mann’s famous hockey stick graph showing a recent warming trend has been proven a fraud. When the computer algorithm he used to produce it was provided numerous sets of random data, it always produced an upward trend at the end of the data set. It has since been removed from the UN report.
FACT: Leaked internal documents from CRU show an orchestrated effort to manipulate data and stifle healthy debate on the subject.
FACT: Mankind is responsible for less than 2% of all CO2 Produced on this planet.
FACT: CO2 isn’t evil. Schools used to teach that plants need it to live.
FACT: Water vapor is by far the most prevalent, influential greenhouse gas. (May God help us once climatologists decide to demonize and regulate that molecule.)

With the publication of more than 1,000 private e-mails that climate change skeptics say proves the threat is exaggerated has prompted a call for an investigation into their research, why should Obama attend this meeting? This is a joke on the American citizens and another excuse to bleed us out of more money and jobs while the register rings for Gore, GE and Kerry.

Octavia:
Still: I don’t know how you get from some scientist having sexed up a graph in East Anglia ten years ago to The Final Nail In The Coffin of Anthropogenic Global Warming
=============================
Because this story is about much more than “sexing up a graph”. It’s about a prolonged conspiracy to squelch dissent, fabricate data, invent statistical techniques out of thin air, destroy data and files requested under the Freedom of Information Act, intimidate colleagues, and on and on. It’s the proof that skeptics have been requesting through standard scientific channels for years.
The case for catastrophic, man-made climate change is built on a house of cards, and now a strong wind is blowing. The FOIA violations are the key to this whole thing. This will be the lever by which Congress will demand investigations of key players from major universities and institutions in the US. To dismiss what these emails, documents and computer source code files have exposed is a big mistake. This is huge. If not for health care this would be front page news and still might be in the weeks to come.

Octavia, you’re clearly out of your depth on this issue. Quoting liberal columnists doesn’t quite cut it.
Do you know who George Monbiot is? He’s one of the most fanatical warmists there is. Here’s what he says in his latest column:
“It’s no use pretending that this isn’t a major blow. The emails extracted by a hacker from the climatic research unit at the University of East Anglia could scarcely be more damaging. I am now convinced that they are genuine, and I’m dismayed and deeply shaken by them.
Yes, the messages were obtained illegally. Yes, all of us say things in emails that would be excruciating if made public. Yes, some of the comments have been taken out of context. But there are some messages that require no spin to make them look bad. There appears to be evidence here of attempts to prevent scientific data from being released, and even to destroy material that was subject to a freedom of information request.
Worse still, some of the emails suggest efforts to prevent the publication of work by climate sceptics, or to keep it out of a report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. I believe that the head of the unit, Phil Jones, should now resign. Some of the data discussed in the emails should be re-analysed.
I apologise. I was too trusting of some of those who provided the evidence I championed. I would have been a better journalist if I had investigated their claims more closely.”
Re-analysed, indeed. That’s what skeptics have been calling for, an open vetting of all data, processes, methodologies and computer code. In other words, shouldn’t we have the same level of inspection and accountability in climate science as we would expect to have with a standard Master’s Thesis review board? That’s not asking too much now, is it?

Posted by: Woody | November 24, 2009, 8:47 am 8:47 am

“Will Obama attend the Copenhagen Summit?” Who cares. As you can see from the other posts, the real question is “Will ABC and the rest of the main stream media cover the HUGE scandal unfolding where the worlds leading global warming proponents have been caught red handed falsifying data, supressing evidence, and scheming to destroy skeptics or anyone else who simply questions global warming?” It’s been five days since the disclosure of thousands of emails and documents exposed the conspiracy and still nothing. I’m waiting!

Well, it’s being proven that the science behind global warming is a lie. It’s made up to support an agenda. It’s BS. I want Obama to go to Copenhagen and take issue with it.
