this coming from a multi-multi-millionaire who fled his own country to not pay additional taxes on his absurd income. so sick of celebrity blabbermouths telling plumbers and contruction workers to pony up more for the poor when the blabbermouths spend every other weekend on the cote d’azur and the amalfi coast. what a bunch of hypocrites.

You know, it is amusing that people who have made millions, want to tell ordinary working people how they should think and live.
Memo to “Hollywood”, the ordinary citizen is barely providing for their family’s sustenance. Telling them how to be philanthropists, is really a huge joke, you know.

Um Bono and his friends can raise 100 times the money the unemployed, outsourced and indebited by college loans youth of america EVER could. Bono, put YOUR MONEY where your MOUTH is and finally we’ll see some “Change!”

I didn’t know he was British, but anyway, these ppl aren’t saying raise money, they’re just saying raise awareness. Should this campaign maybe wait until next year or two years down the road when the US unemployment rate starts to decrease – yes. But none the less, this is an important lesson. Bono may have problems, issues or whatever but which one of you have never made a mistake regardless of size.

he’s irish and he’s a total hypocrite. U2 moved their operations from ireland to the netherlands so they wouldn’t face higher irish tax rates. when he was at the democratic presidential convention a few years ago he said during an interview that if the US would just do something like the marshall plan again, the world would love us again. thus, as long as the US is footing the bill for the world, they love us…otherwise, not so much. he even had his band mates tell him to shut up and get off his high horse when he was giving them a hard time about smoking weed. and the dude spends as much time at red carpet events and on the beach as he does touring africa and other poor places. raising awareness is fine, although i do question how an internet-based media campaign is going to raise awareness of stuff like aids and poverty. what halfway educated person isn’t aware of all these issues to begin with? sorry, but bono’s just another rich hollywood type who likes to live his gazillionaire lifestyle to take a few weeks off here and there to play humanitarian hero. typical limousine liberal activist.

It’s a grassroots campaign and he’s got celebrity activists involved to motivate the next generation. It’s called MARKETING. The campaign is to bug Congress and world leaders, NOT to give money. Do your research, people on this comment blog.
The solution is not to throw money at the problem, it’s to look the problems in the face and together as ONE (all of these countries) help a continent that is in flames. It’s not all about money, it’s about fair trade. Letting African’s with civilized governments play in the global market. Helping people drink a clean glass of water.
Try reading The End of Poverty, by Jeffrey Sachs. It explains it quite simply. Bono is doing what no one else wants to do. Being an ugly spokesperson for a cause no one else wants to take the time necessary to take on. And I can’t believe people on here are berating him for enjoying his lifestyle. Get up and do something instead of bitching on a blog. And let Bono enjoy his 22 oz pint of Guinness.
